The pantyhose is a close-fitting garment, and consumers are highly sensitive to any progress made in fitting the garment to their lower body and increasing comfort. However, the pantyhose manufactured in Korea are only one-sized. The purpose of this study is to suggest a sizing system for pantyhose. The results of this study are as follows: 1. As a results of questions regarding the sizing system of pantyhose, 88.2% of people who responded to our questionnaire preferred multi-sized pantyhose. In particular, larger women opposed to thin women expressed some dissatisfaction in the length and the width of the pantyhose. In addition, most of women preferred an indication of the sizing system and the body size of the control dimension (body mass and height). 2. The 13 species of pantyhose that were manufactured abroad are of all sizes, and only one type of pantyhose is one-sized. However, most domestic pantyhose except one, are one-sized. 3. As a result of the experiment, the spandex content in pantyhose was approximately 12∼18%. Moreover, the elongation rate was approximately 200-370%, which differed according to the features of the material. The stretch size of the pantyhose had varies greatly, add has not yet been standardized. 4. The methods for indicating the pantyhose size in this study are the square method and the stair method. The characteristics of the square method are simple, but the coverage is relatively low. The characteristic of the stair method are so complicated that older women have a low preference for this method. However, the coverage rate is high.

In this research, adult women＇s shoulder types were Classified through direct and indirect measurements to present a judging individual body size according to the type. Also, regression formula by shoulder types were calculated and presented the basic bodice pattern. The results were as follows: 1. The result of factor analysis indicated that 6 factors were extracted through factor analysis and those factors comprised 66.1 to of total variance. 2. By using factor scores, cluster analysis was carried out and subject were classified into 5 clusters. Type 1 was the inclined shoulders, wide shoulders and passive posture. Type 2 was the front type shoulders and active posture. Type 3 was the thick shoulders and back type shoulders. Type 4 was the narrow shoulders. Type f was the drooped shoulders, thin shoulder and sway posture. 3. The body types of individuals were judged by discriminant analysis. 4. After setting 4 items such as the bust girth, posterior waist length, neck base girth and waist girth as representative items and regression formulas were presented. the superiority of the final basic bodice patterns were demonstrated by high approval rate of the subjects who participated in testing.

The objectives of this study were to investigate the consumers' general perceptions and attitudes in response to the leaflet fashion advertisements, and to examine how much differently the level of price and the advertisement type affect brand images and consumers' buying intentions. Subjects for this study were 192 female university students in the twenties. Through the pre-test, several casual brands with such various the level of price as high, middle. and low were selected. Stimuli consisted of 8 photographs of the advertisements types which were manipulated according to the price level(highㆍmiddle & low) and the advertisements type(generalㆍleaflet). The results showed that consumers got the information on the fashion products mostly from the advertisements in magazines. It was also found that consumers showed the highest interests on the design and the discount rate of prices in the leaflet fashion advertisements. The price range(highㆍmiddle & low) of casual brands had significantly affected on the brand image and the consumers' buying intention. And the higher the prices of casual brands were, the worse brand images were when products were advertised by fashion leaflets. The advertisements types(generalㆍleaflet) gave some influences only on the brand image. Based on these results, marketing strategies of fashion advertising would be ,suggested.

This study was to compare and analyze the clothing pressure according to arms movements of 4 brands jacket for middle-aged women group by measuring clothing pressure of each brand. The results were as follows: 1. According to the analysis of jackets of 4 brands, in general, jacket C had the largest ease amount. while jacket A had a large ease amount in waist, hip areas compared with bust area. Also jacket B had a small ease amount in bust, waist areas and jacket D had a small ease amount in hip areas. Therefore the ease amount is different between each brand, each size even though jacket designs are similar. 2. It was found that clothing pressure was affected by arm movements than jackets. Since this study was limited to the arm movement for motion variation, it was recognized that a significant difference among each jacket and each movement at shoulder, waist parts existed with relation to this motion. 3. Parts showing a significant difference among each size were bust point, abdomen point, center back point of abdomen level, angulus superior scapulae point and center back point of waist level. Also clothing pressure of size B91 was bigger than size B88 except Center back point of waist level. 4. Clothing pressure in shoulder point, front armpit point, back armpit point, upper arm point areas increased as the angle of the arms movement increased. Also, individual variation of clothing pressure in front armpit point, back armpit point, armpit point and upper arm point was large, and clothing pressure in abdomen point was high in M5(sitting posture).

The purpose of this study was (1) to identify the experimental bias which could appear person perception as results of presentation methods (2) to find out the most desirable method in presentation of stimulus. The research was a quasi experiment and the subjects were 773 male and female undergraduate students. The experimental instruments consisted of a set of stimulus and semantic differential scales of 7- point hi-polar adjectives. The collected data were analyzed by Factor Analysis, ANOVA(analysis of variance), Scheffe＇s multiple range test. The independent variables were presentation orders and presentation time of stimulus. The results were as follows: First, five factors which were potency, sociality, appearance, evaluation, activity impression dimensions emerged to account for the methods of development of stimulus. Second, the presentation order of stimulus in the combination of four stimuli sets had significant effects on the 3 impressional factors(sociality, appearance, evaluation). The presentation order of stimuli in the combination of eight stimuli set had significant effects on the 3 impressional factors(potency, sociality, appearance) and the presentation order of stimuli in the combination of eight stimuli set showed a significant effect on memorization of stimulus and the results support the recency effect. Third, the presentation time of stimuli had significant effects on the 2 impressional factors(potency, activity). 30 seconds presentation as well as free duration time resulted less experimental bias than 3 seconds presentation.

The purpose of this study was to develop the measurement of fashion sensibility and to verify the validity and utility. The survey has been done 91 photos selected in fashion magazines with 25 semantic differential hi-polar scale. The obtained data were analyzed by MDS, Discriminant analysis and Regression analysis. The major findings of this research were as follows. 1. According to the sensibility positioning, fashion image was classified by 4 group and agreed with constructing factors of fashion. 2. As result of the discrimination analysis, distinguishable fashion sensibility among design elements of clothing was related to refined, pleasant, feel like buying sensibility. 3. As result of the regression analysis, Preference was related to looking good, refined, and sweet, Buying needs related to likable, looking good and natural, Riches related to elegant, neat and refined, Pleasure related to looking good, elegant and bright. 4. The fashion design properties were different regarding Preference, Buying needs. Riches and Pleasure. Preference and Buying needs were related to H-line, similarity color combination, cotton and linen, Riches related to brilliance texture, ruffle and flounces, Pleasure related to fit and sexy design of clothing.

We studied the physical properties of silk fabrics after degumming, the dyeability and the color fastness of silk fabrics after degumming and sericin fixing. As the sericin was removed from silk fabrics, the rate of weight loss increased and both the abrasion resistance and the drape coefficient decreased. This means that the amount of the sericin remained in silk fabrics significantly affects the physical properties of silk fabrics. On the surface and the cross-section of silk fabrics, the silk fibers enclosed by the sericin seemed to be in a lump shape. Each fibroin strand, however, got scattered, as the process of degumming went through. The dyeability of silk fabrics degummed decreased at between 20$^{\circ}C$∼80$^{\circ}C$ the dyeing temperature, on the other hand, it significantly increased over 80$^{\circ}C$. The dyeability of the sericin-fixed silk fabrics was lower than that of the non-serin-fixed silk fabrics, to a little extent. The colorfastness of crocking in the dyed-silk fabrics was a little low and that of the sweat was much lower in a basic sweat. Especially, the colorfastness of the partially degummed silk fabrics was low, because the sericin was not stable in the condition of sweat. Therefore, the process of sericin fixing is essentially required, for the partially degummed silk fabrics and the process of degumming itself.

The change of interactions of anionic surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and sodium tetradecyl sulfate(575) in the presence of electrolytes, to the chitosan-based polyelectrolyte(sol＇n and gel phase) were studied. The chitosan gel used in this study were crosslinked with epichlorohydrin(ECH). Binding isotherms were determined by potentiometric technique using a surfactant ion selective solid-state electrode and the results were represented by using the sequence generating function(SGF) method. The results of binding isotherm were shown comparatively high cooperativity. The addition of electrolytes in the chitosan/SDS system resulted in a shift of the binding to higher free surfactant concentration because of screen effect by the electrolytes. Degree of binding of chitosan gel was higher than that of chitosan sol＇n. And also a conformational phase transition of the chitosan gel in the presence of electrolytes has been investigated.

The purpose of this study was to provide practical information to design woolen fabrics in terms of structural and surface characteristics, which produce texture images of fabrics. The relationship among structural, surface characteristics and texture images, and preference and purchase intention were analyzed. To evaluate the texture images of the fabrics subjectively, 7 rank＇s semantic differential scale questionnaires were developed with thirty adjective pairs. Blind and non-blind test were performed with 320 female subjects who were in their 20-30＇s. Commercially available 48 woolen fabrics were used as specimens. Results showed that five factors were obtained: classic, elegance, warmth, natural and casual. These factors were closely related to fiber type, weave type, fabric counts, and finishes.

A good school uniform leads students to good behavior and have them enjoy desirable school life. Therefore a better fabric for girls' high school uniform suggested through two series of studies; first, examined the various aspects of current uniforms. Second, made a new fabric for uniform considering elasticity for activity and comfortableness, and compared its characteristics with those of the current uniforms. The results are as follows; 1 Most of students wanted uniforms considering elasticity for activity and wearing. 2. The measurement of the elasticities of the uniform materials showed that the material which was made using the elastic material was more elastic than the currently used material by 42.12% in summer material and 20.05% in winter one. 3. The analysis using the combination of the values of mechanical properties showed that the elastic material was better in the wearing, tactile senses, and drape properties than the current material, even though it was a little worse in shape-stability. 4. To compare the thermal insulation, clo values were measured. For winter uniform, the elastic material was better than the current one in keeping warm. However, This study did not find any big difference between summer uniform materials.

A newly developed contact angle measurement instrument by laser beam projection allows for rapid and direct determination of contact angles. The instrument may have a possibility to characterize newly developed nano-fibers. When the laser beam impinges on an edge of an interface of liquid and solid, projected beam were split across and made two straight lines on a tangent screen. From the result, it could measure the contact angle directly by reading the angle between two split beams. The purpose of this study was to prove reliability and reproducibility of the contact angle measurement instrument by laser beam projection compare to the conventional one by microscope through the comparative experiment and questionnaire. Test samples were selected by consideration of hydrophilic and hydrophobic, such as nylon 6 and polypropylene, respectively. The laser contact angle measurement has accurate, fast and convenient method to measure contact angle, and it can be a unique method to characterize nano-fibers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the usage condition of avatar, the clothing images of avatars, and the difference of self images among avatar user groups which were clustered by the clothing image of using avatar. Avatars were decorated not only to get personal satisfaction and joyfulness but also to realize the desire of relationship with other people. The clothing images of avatars were classified into 7 factors, which were labeled as cute, mature, sexy, old-fashion, unisex. and unique factors. There were no significant differences in self images among 3 avatar user groups which were clustered by 7 factors of clothing images. The result indicated that avatar users pursued various clothing images for their avatar, however, no significant relations were existed between avatar＇s images and user＇s self images and further studies would be required to find out significant variables which determined avatar＇s clothing images.

The purpose of this study was to investigate competitive structure between the department store and the discount store based on consumers' purchase intention. Female consumers who purchased clothing both in the department store and the discount store participated in the study by completing questionnaires (N=533) . Data were analyzed using factor analyses, paired t-test, Cronbach's $\alpha$, and chi-square analyses. The result was as following: 1 . Overall, the department store and the discount store are competing complementarily. However, this competitive structure varied with clothing items and consumers' age. 2. As a result of factor analyses, the two retailer's service quality could be evaluated with four dimensions: price and A/S, store atmosphere and VMD, store policy, and salesperson. 3. The department store was expected to provide the highest level of service in ‘price and A/S’, ‘store atmosphere and VMD’, ‘salesperson’ whereas the discount store in ‘store policy’ 4. Respondents were classified in four groups according to how frequently they use department store and discount store as following: shopper of both retailers (68.35％), discount store shopper(20.97%), department store shopper(4.70%), shopper of neither retailer(3.97％). Each group showed differences in service satisfaction and demographic characteristics.

To examine the effect of heat treatment temperature in finishing process on PET/PBT Fabric, PET/PBT Fabrics were treated at different relaxing temp., pre-set temp., and final-set temp.. The dimensions such as thickness and density were measured, and the handles were evaluated by Kawabata system. In relaxing which was wet heat treatment, thickness and bulkiness were increased, and NUMERI, FUKURAMI, SOFUTOSA, and THV also were increased but KOSHI was decreased with elevating temperature. With elevating pre-set temp., thickness and bulkiness were decreased, but KOSHI was increased. NUMERI, FUKURAMI, SOFUTOSA, and THV were the best at 180$^{\circ}C$ pre-set treatment. In final-set which was dry heat treatment like pre-set, thickness, bulkiness, NUMERI, HUKURAMI, SOFUTOSA, and THV were decreased, but KOSHI value was increased with elevating temperature. Therefore the best heat treatment condition was 130$^{\circ}C$ relaxing, 180$^{\circ}C$ pre-set, and 160$^{\circ}C$ final-set. And the handle of PET/PBT Fabric was affected much more by relaxing temp. than pre-set temp. and final-set temp.

The convenience of TV home shopping is known to provoke compulsive buying, which is chronic and repetitive purchasing behavior that comes about as a response to negative events or feelings. The purpose of this study was to identify whether there is a difference in the degree of compulsive buying between the purchasers of fashion goods and the purchasers of non-fashion goods on TV home shopping shows and the determinants of compulsive buying and their relative importance. Utilizing the convenient sampling method, the sample of the study was composed of women aged over 20 living in the Seoul metropolitan area. Out of 380 distributed questionnaires, 270 useful questionnaires were returned. The data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. The results indicated that TV home shoppers who purchased fashion goods showed higher degree of compulsive buying than those who purchased non-fashion goods and the determinants of compulsive buying are sample＇s age, mean age of the sample＇s children, credit usage, expenditure on fashion goods, frequency of purchase of fashion goods on TV home shopping shows, and promotional tools used by TV home shopping retailers. Regarding the relative importance of the determinants, credit usage was the most influential factor followed by expenditure on fashion goods and the length of exposure to TV home shopping shows.
