Safety Analysis of the Flood Control of Urban River in Flash Flood
Park, Ho-Sang ; Sim, Ou-Bae ; Song, Jai-Woo ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 125~132
In this study, safety analysis of river in flash flood due to local extraordinary rainfall was conducted for the Hong-Je river, which was selected as a representative sample basin because it is one of the most urbanized rivers in Seoul. The rainfall data of precipitation 310.1 mm and probable maximum precipitation (PMP) 740.0 mm in July
, 2001 was used to perform safety analysis. Resulting of safety analysis of the flood control in Hong-Je river, case of the 50 year of design frequency, safety section, management section, and danger section were represented to be 85%, 15%, and 0% respectively. For the 200 year of design frequency, safety section decreased by 6% and management section and danger section increment by 4% and 2%, respectively, The variation of management section was not observed with respect to 200 year of frequency. Little variation of safety value for management section for 300 and 500 of frequency increased by 8% and 12% relative to 50 year of frequency, respectively. management section and danger section for 1000 year of frequency increased by 19% and 13% relative to 50 year of frequency.
Shear Strength of Anchors under Load Applied Angle and a Group Anchors at an Edge
Kim, Sung-Yong ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 133~141
This study concerns the prediction of shear capacity, as governed by concrete breakout failure of the anchors under load applied angle and an group anchors at an edge and installed in uncracked, unreinforced concrete. For this purpose, the methods to evaluate the shear capacity of the anchors in concrete are summarized and the experimental data are compared with capacities by the two present methods: the method of ACI 349-90 and concrete capacity design (CCD) method.
Experimental Investigations on the Flexural Behavior Using PE-Coated Rebars
Kim, Young-Jin ; Kang, Young-Jong ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 143~150
Recently, The corrosions of reinforced concrete structures are severe problems of economical social effects. PE-coated bars protecting from corrosion and enhancing durability of reinforced concrete structures are testified to evaluate structural properties. Tests are verified by comparative bending tests of the three type materials of epoxy coating, without coating and pe-coating. Load-deflection relations ate superior in pe-coated bar than any other materials(bare bar and epoxy bar). These are proved bonding properties enhancement by using cement powder.
Koreanized Analysis System Development for Groundwater Flow Interpretation
Choi, Yun-Yeong ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 151~163
In this study, the algorithm of groundwater flow process was established for koreanized groundwater program development dealing with the geographic and geologic conditions of the aquifer have dynamic behaviour in groundwater flow system. All the input data settings of the 3-DFM model which is developed in this study are organized in Korean, and the model contains help function for each input data. Thus, it is designed to get detailed information about each input parameter when the mouse pointer is placed on the corresponding input parameter. This model also is designed to easily specify the geologic boundary condition for each stratum or initial head data in the work sheet. In addition, this model is designed to display boxes for input parameter writing for each analysis condition so that the setting for each parameter is not so complicated as existing MODFLOW is when steady and unsteady flow analysis are performed as well as the analysis for the characteristics of each stratum. Descriptions for input data are displayed on the right side of the window while the analysis results are displayed on the left side as well as the TXT file for this results is available to see. The model developed in this study is a numerical model using finite differential method, and the applicability of the model was examined by comparing and analyzing observed and simulated groundwater heads computed by the application of real recharge amount and the estimation of parameters. The 3-DFM model is applied in this study to Sehwa-ri, and Songdang-ri area, Jeju, Korea for analysis of groundwater flow system according to pumping, and obtained the results that the observed and computed groundwater head were almost in accordance with each other showing the range of 0.03 - 0.07 error percent. It is analyzed that the groundwater flow distributed evenly from Nopen-orum and Munseogi-orum to Wolang-bong, Yongnuni-orum, and Songja-bong through the computation of equipotentials and velocity vector using the analysis result of simulation which was performed before the pumping started in the study area. These analysis results show the accordance with MODFLOW's.
Calculation of Abnormality Large Flood Discharge Destroying the Songcheon Stage Guaging Station by the RUSA in 2002th Year
Yoo, Ju-Hwan ; Kim, Joo-Cheol ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 165~171
An abnormal storm by the typhoon of RUSA in 2002th year was broken out with tremendous flood demages and inundations on the basin of Chogangcheon located in the upper middle part of Guem river's upstream. This flood could not be engaged because it was so big that the stage engaging Songcheon station stuck to Songcheon bridge was destroyed by submerging. In this study the quantity of the flood was calculated by use of Manning's equation and suitable roughness coefficient was suggested.
A Study on the Deterioration Factors of Masonry Buildings in Seoul
Kwon, Ki-Hyuk ; Mok, Jin-Woo ; Kim, Kwang-Koo ;
Journal of Korean Society of Hazard Mitigation, volume 3, issue 3, 2003, Pages 173~181
Because of the gravitation of population toward large cities, a number of masonry buildings have been constructed since 1960's. They have been rapidly deteriorated as time passed by. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to present basic data on timeworn masonry buildings which were managed by the Jung, Mapo and Dobong district in Seoul Metropolitan and to analyse their deterioration factors as well as interrelation. Through this study, masonry buildings have many problems with foundation and crack is the most effective to deterioration. Also, the store buildings are the weakest structure type and the structure grade have an interrelation with occupancy type mere than any other factors.
