Performance Measurement of Split PC Sleepers for Safety in Maintenance Work

In terms of the speed-up of the conventional line, the research for a improved turnout was carried out continually around world. A turnout is known that it is the most unstable equipment structurally in the rail system. So, the turnout is needed more stable structure. An accurate assembly of turnout affects traveling qualify of turnout area and running safety. Therefore, a turnout which is pre-assembled at a factory by using the split PC sleeper is transported to construction site recently in advanced countries. In this paper, the performance measurements which estimate the safety of the split PC sleepers which are adopted for the first time to improve performance of turnout are implemented indoors. The split PC sleeper is one of components of the improved turnout. The test is considered of the worst ballast condition under the maintenance work as like STT(Swithc Tie Tamper) or MTT(Multiple Tie Tamper). These experiments results indicate that structural safety for the expansion joint of the split PC sleepers.
Numerical Analysis of the Roadbed Settlement beneath Rail Joint Induced by Tilting-Train Loading

The tilting-train being operated in pre-existing rail road has a different running mechanism compared to currently operated trains. Therefore, it needs to investigate the evaluation of the track performance, the stability of the tilting-train in operating condition, and the stability of the roadbed. In this study, when the tilting train is operated in the rail joint with the allowable velocity limited by the track performance and the stability of the tilting-train, the settlement of the roadbed has been evaluated by using numerical analysis. The loading on the ground surface generated by the operating tilting-train generates the settlement of the roadbed. The settlement induced by the tilting-train loading has been compared to the allowable settlement and the factor of safety defined by the ratio of the allowable settlement to the settlement generated by the applied loading is evaluated.
A Study on the Integration Control System Development for Smoke Control

This study developed integration control system that improve efficiency and give flexibility of smoke control system and can improve prevention of disasters performance. The reliable each kind sensor and of integration control system was developed by establishing the specifications, algorithms and constructing engineering data. More correct and reliable control function of optimization can be obtained by the central control from integration control system rather than the existent individual control. This sees to do to impose flexibility to smoke control system. Also, this will provide the basics of integration control system and ability security of smoke control system and can construct smoke control system of performance based.
A Study on the Reformation of Certified Fire Fighting Specialists - Focused on Fire Protection System Managers -

This research analyzed the operational status of fire protection system managers who execute self inspection of the fire equipment in the specific fire protection facilities and presented the improvement scheme. Being made up inquiry for job environment, institutional environment, and operational environment for the subject of fire protection system managers who execute self inspection to complement the fire equipment inspection by city public fire protection service, the issues of the operational status of the institution of fire protection system managers were positively understood. The research result showed the conflict among building owner, fire equipment inspector, and fire protection system manager was existed due to the legal and institutional inertia to the self inspection, so it is judged that mutual complementary and cooperative relation should be established.
Characterization of Cemented Sand for Building of Levee

There are loss of lives and properties in many areas of the basin of the Nak-Dong river by the unusual weather and the localized heavy rain recently, and many difficulties of levee construction for prevention of disasters by acquisition of material and expensive transportation. In this research, The factors and causes which affect the strength through laboratory tests about the cemented sand that is mixed a few portland cement and sand of Nak-Dong river bed was researched closely. For providing the fundamental data which is needed in design and analysis of levee material, the compaction test and the standard triaxial compression test etc was conducted., analyzed compression strength and characteristic of stress-strain behavior in which the influence of cement content.
An Analysis of Characteristic Parameters for the Design of Detention Pond in Urbanized Area

Urban development results in increased runoff volume and flowrates and shortening in time of concentration, which may cause frequent flooding downstream. Flow retardation structures to limit adverse downstream effects of urban storm runoff are used. There are various types of flow retardation measures include detention basins, retention basins, and infiltration basins. In basic planning phase, a number of planning models of detention ponds which decide storage volume by putting main variables were used to design detention ponds. The characteristics of hydrological parameters
which are used in planning models of detention pond were analyzed. In this study, detention ponds data of Disaster Impact Assessment report at 22 sites were analyzed in order to investigate correlation between characteristic of urban drainage basin parameter and characteristics of detention pond parameter due to urbanization effects. The results showed that storage volume was influenced by peak discharge ratio
more than runoff coefficient ratio
and peak discharge ratio
was influenced by runoff coefficient ratio
less than regional parameter n. Storage ratio was mainly influenced by duration of design rainfall in the case of trapezoidal inflow hydrograph such as Donahue et al. method.
Analysis of Water Depth and Velocity through Discharge Condition from Sewerage Outlet at Near Channel Junction

The rainfall runoff is drained through sewerage outlet at urban area. But, there is no guideline or standard to install sewerage outlet, so the sewerage outlet are designed or installed by discretion of engineers or constructors. In this paper, for the sake of supporting basic data to design, it would be suggested a guideline for less influenced to flow at the channel flow condition through hydraulic experiment by variation of lateral inflow discharge, sewerage outlet projecting part, sewerage outlet direction and position. Through 10 cases of experiments, it would be less influenced two sewerage outlet at up and down stream than one installed at up or down stream even though the same discharge. And installed conditions which are installed angle and protecting part will be influenced to increase water depth and to decrease velocity at upstream. So when sewerage outlet is installed, it would be try to find a installing way to be less influence with more careful.
Analysis for Difference of Water Surface Elevation at Cross Section in Pyungchang River Contained Junction Using Hydraulic Model

In this study, hydraulic model same as natural channel with junction area and curved reach is constructed, and after that the variation of difference of the water surface elevation at cross section in junction area is analyzed using constructed hydraulic model. In junction area, the variation of maximum water level based on downstream section is more affected in discharge ratio at upstream than downstream. The maximum water level increased as closed to junction and the peak level appeared at just downstream of junction. The slope of water elevation at cross section is affected in section shape and decreased as discharge ratio is reduce. The expressed formulas developed in the channel consist of constant curvature and section shape showed difference of 60% with measured value, but the suggested formula in this study to compute difference of water surface elevation showed difference of 10% with measured value.
