A STUDY ON THE SPEED CONTROL OF A LOW SPEED-LONG STROKE MARINE DIESEL ENGINE
Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, volume 13, issue 3, 1989, Pages 26~36
Recently digital governor system is commonly adapted for the speed control of the marine diesel engine because of too much fluctuation of rpm resulted by the low speed, long stroke, high efficiency and a small number of cylinder of it, and versatile studies on the development of digital governor system are progressed. On this subject the new control method in which the fuel is controlled by feedforwarding the change of load as well as the feedback of angular velocity in case of disregarding the engine dead time and influence of scavenging air was proposed by the authors, and found the method has shown quite a good control performance in comparision to the conventional control method by the simulation using a digital computer for various load change. In this paper the speed control system of a diesel engine is simulated in case of regarding the engine dead time by the proposed method, and also confirm a good control performance of it under even more realistically simulated environment.
A study on the temperature distribution for various base materials due to the constant heat input
Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, volume 13, issue 3, 1989, Pages 37~47
A calcuation method of the temperature distribution for various shape due to the constant heat input is studied in this paper. So far, the method of try and error is carring out on the mould design. The reason of adopting this method is due to hardly estimate the cooling system in the mould base. As above description, the most part of the mould is supposed as a rectangular, cylinderical and triangular shape and made a governing equation of heat transfer and solved it to numerical analysis by finite-difference method(central- difference). After that in order to confirm that the temperatures are measured on different shape specimens from the part of frequent usage of which are carbon, crome-molybden, tool and stainless steel those were compared with the results of calculations presented in this paper.
A study on the radiative heat transfer analysis in a laminar diffusion flame
Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, volume 13, issue 3, 1989, Pages 48~55
The purpose of present study is to evaluate both the radiative heat loss from a flame and the local formation and oxidation rate of soot. The present paper describes a comprehensive mathematical model to deal with combustion and radiative heat transfer simultaneously. The involved radiative heat transfer model was based on the "heat ray tracing method" originally proposed by Hayasaka et al.. Some predicted results were compared with the experiments.periments.
The speed control system of an induction type a.c servo motor by vector control
Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, volume 13, issue 3, 1989, Pages 56~63
In recent years, a.c servo motors have been gradually replacing d.c sevo motors in various high-performance demanded aplications such as machine tools and industrial robots. In particular, the high-performance slip-frequency control of an induction motor, which is often called the vector control, is considered one of the best a.c drive. In this paper, the transient state equation and vector control algrithms of an induction motor are described mathematically by using the two-axis theory(d-q coordinates). According to the result of these algorithms, we scheme the speed control system for an induction type ac servo motor in which vector control is adopted to give tha a.c motor high performance. Motor drive is a PWM inverter using power MOS-FET, and is controlled in order to let the actual input current of the motor track the current reference obtained from a microcomputer(8086 cpu). Driving experiments are performed in the range of 0 to 3000 rpm, and it is verified that high speed response is possible.
Developing a computer program for simulation of 4 cycle diesel engine including intake & exhaust system
Journal of the Korean Society of Marine Engineering, volume 13, issue 3, 1989, Pages 64~71
In this paper, a computer program for simulation of 4 cycle diesel engines including intake and exhaust manifold system is developed. The wave action theory is applied for optimization of the intake and exhaust manifold system. The calculation results of this computer program is finely accurate and agreed well with experimental results. Accordingly, it is recognized that the developed computer program can be utillized very usefully for the design of intake and manifold system. And then, influential factors of the engine performance in the design of intake manifold is numerically investigated by the calculation only. As the results it is concluded that the inertia one of the dynamic effects on the intake and exhaust maninfold affects mainly the engine performance and the pulsation one is a side effect.
