A Theoretical Study on Flow and Pressure Variation Characteristics of Fuel Supply System in Diesel Engine

Combustion phenomenon in diesel engine is mainly governed by characteristics of fuel injection and fuel spray system affected by its dimensions and operating condition. Fuel supply system is consisted of fuel injection pump, high pressure pipe and injection nozzle. In order to develope the more economical diesel fuel injection system, it is in need to carryout the fairly wide range experiments, which is quite impossible. Therefore, theoretical analysis for the numberous parameters is powerful method in this case. In the present study, equations of continuity of fuel oil in fuel injection system are solved to obtain the flow and pressure variation in diesel fuel system affected by injection pump speed, plunger diameter, pipe length and nozzle opening pressure.
Condensation Heat Transfer Characteristics of HCFC - 123 inside Horizontal Smooth Tube

Experimental data on the heat transfer characteristics of HCFC-123 and CFC-11 during condensation in horizontal smooth tube are presented. The experimental apparatus consisted of a closed working fluid loop, coolant loop, and measuring system. The major components of the working fluid loop made of a refrigerant pump, boiler, superheater, refrigerant flow meter, receiver and test section. The tube-in-tube type test section was made of smooth tube which were constructed form 9.52 mm outer diameter of smooth copper tube with 50 mm outside diameter of PVC tube duct. The ranges of parameter, such as refrigerant mass velocity, coolant flow rate, and quality were 90-325kg/(
.s), 60-360kg/h, 5-95% respectively. Data were obtained under steady state condition for annular flow. As a result of these, the condensation heat transfer coefficients for HCFC-123 were slightly lower than those of CFC-11 from 8% to 15% inside horizontal smooth tube. Furthermore, a new generalized correlation for the heat transfer coefficients of HCFC-123 and CFC-11 during condensation inside horizontal smooth tube is proposed.

Influence of Lubricating Oil Emulsified on the Behaviour of Cavitation Erosion - Corrosion at Bearing Metals

Recently, because the lubricating oil showed a tendency to be emulsified and oxidized by high speed, high output and the extension of maintenance & conservation of marine engine, the cavitation erosion-corrosion at such an environment became a big problem on effective performance of engine. Therefore, there was a need to study the behavior and protection of erosion-corrosion damage, and then applied inhibitor to a protective method of cavitation erosion- corrosion damage. At this time, test environments were marine lubricating oil & various emulsified oil that mixed distilled water and sea water etc., and also used 20KHz, 24.mu.m piezoelectric vibrator as an experimental apparatus of cavitation erosion. With this apparatus, we investigated an influence of the emulsified oil on characteristics of erosion-corrosion and protection for erosion-corrosion by inhibitor at slide bearing metals.
An Experimental Study on Magnetohydrodynamic Flow in MHD Propulsion System

Usually ship is propelled by the conventional propeller. When the conventional propeller is used for ship's propulsion, reduction of propeller noise is big issue in some special vessel. In order to reduce the acoustic noise of the propeller, novel propulsion system named as MHD propulsion system has been studied among researchers. In this paper, thruster characteristic analysis and system analysis of MHD propulsion system have been carried out. Firstly basic experimental apparatus is designed, fabricated and installed and test is carried out. Test results are compared with numerical analysis. It is confirmed that test results agreed with numerical results satisfactorily.
A Study on PLL Speed Control System of DC Servo Motor for Mobile Robot Drive

The speed control associated with dc servo motors for direct-drive applications of mobile robot is considered in this study. Robot is moved by power wheeled steering of two dc servo motors mounted to it. In order to cooperate with micro-computer and to achieve the high-performance operation of dc servo motor, speed control system is composed of a digital Phase Locked Loop and H-type drive circuit. And the motor is driven by Pulse Width Modulations. In controlling PWM, it is modified to compose of H-type drive circuit with feedback diodes and switching transistor and design of control sequence so that it may show linear characteristics. As a result, speed characteristics of motor showed linear features. In order to get data on design of PLL control system, the parameters of 80[W[ motor & robot device is measured by simple software control. The PLL speed control system is schemed and designed by leaner drive circuit and measured parameters. A complete speed control system applied to 80[W] dc servo motor showed good linearity, stability and high response. Also, it is verified that the PLL speed control system has good compatibility as a mobile robot driver.
A Study on the Digital Control of Single Phase Induction Motor Driven by the Full Bridge Resonant Inverter(I) - The Current Characteristics of Full - bridge Resonant Inverter at Low Frequency -

The application of A.C. motor to servo system is rapidly increased according to the recent advance of power electronics and digital control techniques. The induction motor which has a simple structure and needs less maintenance is used in the industrial field for the variable speed and position control recently. In this paper, the current characteristic of the full-bridge resonant inverter is studied by comparing with the computer simulation and the laboratory experiment when the ratio of forced frequency to the natural frequency and the ratio of conduction time to the period at the given frequency is changed. And then, the full-bridge resonant inverter is applied to the speed control of single phase induction motor.
Study on the Design of Thin Intersected Axe Gear

The various configuration of thin-shaped bevel gears are used usually for such as main reduction gear of the hovercraft. But the reasonable and concise guide to thedesign of the se bevel gears is not yet obtained, since the tooth of bevel gear has complex form. The purpose of these investigation is to be establish the design guide and to propose the desirable configuration form for thin-shaped straight bevel gear. In this report, the desirable configuration is examined experimentally by clearing up the effect of web and rim thickness, rim support condition upon the load distribution and root stress distribution along the tooth trace. The results are summarized as follows. (1) The crowning of tooth trace exerts a significant effect on the root stress distribution of thin-shaped bevel gear. (2) As the desirable configuration of the thin-shaped bevel gear, it is to be recommended that the rim is supported at the heel side of tooth trace. (3) But, as special type, it is desirable that the rim is supported at the toe side.
