A photovoltaic power generation system is an infinite and clean energy system. Recently. because of the realization of high efficiency and low cost PV modules, the studies on the PV system have extensively increased. In this paper. we present an online scheme for parameter estimation of solar cell, based on the model adjustment technique and a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA). The ideal diode model and the diode model with series and shunt resistors are used to estimate their parameters, Simulation works using field data in the form of a V-I characteristic curve are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Due to the electric power shortage in summer season and regulation of freon refrigerant, the application of gas absorption refrigeration and hot water systems are considerably increasing trend. Freezing Characteristics in a Horizontal Rectangular Channel with the Two-Dimensional Protuberances

Freezing of turbulent water flow between two horizontal cooled parallel plates with the separated region has been investigated experimentally. The flow separation was induced by vertical plates (two-dimensional plates) situated at the inlet of the rectangular channel. The degree of flow separation was varied by employing vertical thin plates with various heights. Three kinds of the vertical plates with 8.0, 9.8 and 12.5 mm in height were utilized. The Flow Characteristics around Circular Cylinder of Pressure Interference with Slits

This study is conducted to investigate aerodynamic forces and wake structures about the pressure interference of a circular cylinder with slits. An experimental investigation of a circular cylinder with slits is carried out in uniform flow in the range of Reynolds number from 8,000 to 32,000 using X-type hot wire. Flow visualization is executed by smoke-wire method to understand the mechanism of these vortex formation process. Inspection in the wake at X/D=5.5 of the cylinder with the slits suggested that a strong vortex-shedding pattern for these cylinders is revealed compare with a circular cylinder without slits. It is found that the rolling up position of shear layer of the cylinder with slits is shorten compare with a circular cylinder without slits.
Injection Characteristics with Valve Geometries for a Diesel Engine

Injection technology is one of the important technologies in a diesel engine. Many studies have done on the injection system. In this study, the fuel chamber geometry, the orifice ratio and the needle lift of the injection valve of a diesel engine for generating electricity are varied and tested. The injection pressure, duration and spray shapes are produced with pressure transducer, needle lift sensor and highspeed camera. The result shows that the nozzle hole size has influence on the rail pressure and injection duration sensuously.
A study for the pressure distribution and the boundary layer around a circular cylinder in a shear flow

In this study. an experiment has been performed to investigate distributions of static pressure around a circular cylinder in a uniform shear flow which is made by a specially designed wind tunnel. From the computation program(BLAYER), various boundary layer value are obtained depending on the shear flow rate. Design of a Container Crane Controller Using the Fuzzy Control Technique

The amount of container freight continuously has been increased. and the low efficiency of container crane causes jamming frequently in transportation and cargo handling at port. The conventional control techniques based on a mathematical model are not well suited for dealing with ill-defined and uncertain systems. Recently. Fuzzy control has been successfully applied to a wide variety of practical problems as robots. automatic train operation system. etc. In this paper. a fuzzy controller for container crane is proposed to accomplish a design of improved control system for minimizing the swing motion at destination. In this scheme a mathematical model for the system is obtained in state space form. Finally. to exhibit the tracking performance and robustness of the proposed controller. computer simulations were carried out with various references, parameter variations and disturbances.
An Elimination Method of Harmonics in AC to DC Converter

This paper considers the method of elimination harmonics in AC/DC converters, There are few practical methods to reduce the harmonics in AC/DC converters, particularly in filter design and control strategy. In this paper, a harmonic elimination methods are proposed, which includes hybrid PWM control strategy. These methods achieve precise output control along with the optimum performance simultaneously. The control method in this paper is developed to eliminate a fixed number of harmonics in AC to DC converter. The higher order harmonics can be easily eliminated by using filter proposed in this paper. The validity of these methods is confirmed experimentally.
A Study on the outside rotor type double squirrel cage Induction motor

This paper describes a newly developed double squirrel cage induction motor in which the rotor is located outside the stator. The outside rotor type brushless dc motor has been used for VTR's head drum and PC's cooling fan, but this kind of induction motor has not been developed yet. The parameters of outside rotor type induction motor were measured from the locked rotor test and no load test. It is possible to determine the parameters which are presented in the steady-state equivalent-circuit of the outside rotor type induction motor. Load test of induction motor was carried out using a dynamometer. For the characteristics of torque, efficiency, power factor and output. the developed double squirrel cage induction motor is compared with the ordinary induction motor It is believed that the results of this paper can be used for the development of the outside rotor type induction motor.
Evaluation for the Strength and Erosion Rate on the Silicon Nitride Ceramics

An experimental method to investigate the fracture strength and fracture toughness for the silicon nitrides sintered at various sintering temperature is established. The erosion rate for these materials in the various concentration of NaOH solution is also investigated. In result, the fracture strength of Si3N4 is decreased with the increase of sintering temperature. On the other hand, the fracture toughness KIC is increased with the increase of sintering temperature. Seismic Analysis of Horizontal-Type Multi-Stage Centrifugal Pump using Finite Element Method

As a fluid machinery for piping liquid in the reactor cooling system, multi-stage centrifugal pump requires the structural dynamic stability against external dynamic excitation. This paper is concerned with the finite element analysis of its eigen behavior and seismic response to RRS(Required Response Spectrum) curves in the case of SSE (Safe Shutdown Earthquake). Through the finite element analysis, the major vibration characteristics of multi-stage centrifugal pump(MSCP) are investigated and seismic qualification based on the IEEE codes is executed. The numerical results show that the MSCP used in this study has enough seismic strength.
Effect of Partition within Opening on Helium-Air Exchange Flow

This paper describes experimental investigations of helium-air exchange flow through single opening and partitioned opening. Such exchange flows may occur following rupture accident of stand pipe in high temperature gas cooled reactor. A test vessel with a small opening on top of test cylinder is used for experiments. An estimation method of mass increment is developed and applied to measure the exchange flow rate. A technique of flow visualization by Mach-Zehnder interferometer is provided to recognize the exchange flows. Flow measurements are made with the opening, for partition ratios H_p/H
$ in the range 0 to 1. where
are partition length and height of the opening. respectively. In the case of H_p/H
$ of 0, flow passages of upward flow of the helium and downward flow of the air within the opening are unseparated (bidirectional), and the two flows interfere within the opening. The unseparated flow increases strength of flow resistance and therefore, the exchange flow rate is minimum through range of the partition ratios. Two flow zones, i.e., separated (unidirectional) flow zone and unseparated (bidirectional) flow zone, exist with increasing the partition length. The exchange flow rate increases with increasing the separated flow zone. It is found that a maximum exchange flow rate exists at H_p/H
$ of 1. As a result of comparison of the exchange flow rates by changing the partition ratio, the fluids Interference in the unseparated zone is found to be an important factor on the helium-air exchange flow rate.
