The ejector is used to obtain a vacuum state, and it has been applied to a lot of industry field such as a heat engine, a fluid instrument power plant. a food industry, an environment industry etc., because there is no problem even it is mixed with any kind of liquid, gas. and solid. The flow characteristics in the ejector was investigated by a PIV and a CFD. The agreement between numerical analysis and experiment shows the validity of this study and the results of this study would be useful to the engineers who design for the flow systems for heating. ventilation. air conditioning and wastewater purification plants.
An Electrochemical Evaluation on the Corrosion Resistance of a Al Alloy

Al is a active metal that owes its resistance to a thin, protective, barrier oxide surface layer, which is stable in air and neutral aqueous solution. Thus Al alloys are widely used in architectural trim. cold & hot-water storage vessels and piping. However Al and most of its alloy may corrode with some forms such as pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion and galvanic corrosion in the case of exposure to various industrial and marine atmosphere. Therefore a correct evaluation of corrosion resistance for their Al and Al alloys may be more important in a economical point of view. In this study. a relative evaluation of corrosion resistance for three kinds of Al alloys such as ALDC2, ALDC3, and ALDC8 series was carried out with electrochemical method. There is a tendency that corrosion potential is shifted to positive or negative direction by alloying components regardless of corrosion resistance. Moreover the data of corrosion properties obtained from cathodic Polarization curve, cyclic voltammogram and AC. DC impedance respectively showed a good correspondence each other against the corrosion resistance but variation of corrosion potential. passivity current density of anodic polarization curve and corrosion current density by Tafel extrapolation and Stern-Geary method didn't correspond with not only each other but also considerably the data of corrosion properties discussed above. Therefore it is suggested that an optimum electrochemical evaluation for corrosion resistance of Al alloy is to calculate the diffusion limiting current density of cathodic polarization curve, impedance of AC or DC and polarization resistance of cyclic voltammogram.
A Study on the Diagnostic Technology for Fouling Occurred in Heat Exchanger

Fouling causes serious maintenance problems on heat exchanger tubes and process facilities. To avoid such fouling problems, numerous efforts have been tried. e.g., diagnosis of fouling, reducing and eliminating the fouling. etc.. The objective of the present study is to develop an innovative diagnostic system of fouling, which can detect the scaling attached to the wall non-homogeneously. The performance of the diagnostic system has been evaluated with a scaling simulator that generates scaling on tested tube wall. The measured values with the diagnostic system were compared with the amounts of the scaling generated by the simulator. In addition to, we showed the data that have been executed in field test for reliability verification.
Approximate Solution for Conjugate Heat Transfer of Laminar Film Condensation on a Flat Plate

Liquid film thickness in laminar film condensation for flow over a flat plate generally is so thin that both fluid acceleration and thermal convection within the liquid film can be neglected. An integral solution method is proposed to solve the conjugate problems of laminar film condensation and heat conduction in a solid wall. It is found that approximate solutions of the governing equations involve four physical parameters to describe the conjugate heat transfer problem for laminar film condensation. It is shown that the effects of interfacial shear. mass transfer and local heat transfer are strongly dependent on the thermo-physical properties of the working fluids and the Jacob number.
An Electrochemical Evaluation on the Corrosion Resistance of Heavy Anticorrosive Paint

An electrochemical evaluation on the corrosion resistance for heavy anticorrosive paint(DFT:25um) was carried out for 5 kinds of heavy anticorrosive paints such as high solid epoxy(HE), solvent free epoxy(SE). tar epoxy(TE), phenol epoxy(PE). and ceramic epoxy(CE). Corrosion current densities obtained by Tafel extrapolation method from anodic and cathodic polarization curves didn't correspond with the values obtained by AC impedance measurement, however, the values of polarization resistance obtained from the cyclic voltammogram showed a good tendency corresponding well with the values of AC impedance measurement. Futhermore there was a good correlation against the corrosion resistance evaluation between passivity current density of the anodic polarization curve and diffusion limiting current density of the cathodic polarization curve. And corrosion resistance increased with corrosion potential shifting to noble direction. From the results discussed above. HE and CE had a relatively good corrosion resistance than other heavy anticorrosive paints.

The cooling heat transfer coefficient of
(R-744) in a horizontal tube was investigated experimentally. The experiments were conducted without oil in a closed refrigerant loop which was driven by a magnetic gear pump. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump. a mass flow meter. a pre-heater and gas cooler(test section). Study on Evaporation Pressure Drop of Hydrocarbon Refrigerants

Experimental results are presented for heat transfer and pressure gradients of HCs refrigerants R-290, R-600a, R-1270 and HCFC refrigerant R-22 during evaporating inside horizontal double pipe heat exchangers. Two tubes with a tube diameter of 12.70mm and 9.52mm are used for this investigation. Hydrocarbon refrigerants have higher pressure drop than R-22 in 12.7mm and 9.52mm. The results from the investigation can be used in the design of heat transfer exchangers using hydrocarbons as the refrigerant for the air-conditioning systems.
A Study on the ventilation Technology for Indoor Air Quality Improvement

In this research, We'll focus on warm environment and ventilation characteristics when utilizing intake ports, exhaust port and 4-way cassettes for removing heat and polluted air. Four way cassettes have been typical air conditioning units for offices since the multi air-conditioner was introduced. The following installation cases will also be discussed: 1) 4-way cassette's operation without intake ports and exhaust port. 2) Effect of the position of intake port and exhaust ports. 3) cooling air flow, temperature. distribution and local supply index according to the air flow rate from 4-way cassettes.

Target Tracking System for an Intelligent Wheelchair Using Infrared Range-finder and CCD Camera

In this paper, we discuss the tracking system for a wheelchair which can follow the path of a human target such as a nurse in hospital. The problem of human tracking is that it requires recognition of feature as well as the tracking of human positions. For this purpose the use of a high cost visual sensor such as laser finder or streo camera makes the tracking a high cost additional expense. This paper proposes the tracking system uses a low cost infrared range-finder and CCD camera, The Infrared range-finder and CCD camera can create a target candidate through each target recognition algorithm. and this information is fused in order to reduce the uncertainties of a target decision and correct the positional error of the human. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified through experiments.
Finite Element Analysis and Evaluation of Casting Defects of Steam Turbine Valve Casings of Power Plants

Stresses of main stop valve and control valve casings for the steam turbines of power plants are analyzed by the finite element method. The stress intensity is obtained to check the results on the basis of the design criteria of ASME boiler and pressure vessel code. To verify accuracy of the finite element analysis. analyzed stresses are compared with those measured during the hydrostatic pressure test. Stress category drawings. which play an important role in evaluating casting defects, are produced from the analysis results, and important points in casting of the valve casings are discussed in terms of the stress category.
A Study of Multiplex RE Monitoring Method of Low-Price for Stand-Alone PV Power Generation System

Recently, it has demanded to the wireless monitoring system in stand-alone PV power generation system. We propose the multiplex monitoring method using RF unit of low-price. RF unit consists of RF modem and communication controller. It is also able to use by repeater to communicate long distance. In this paper. two algorithms were programmed by CCS-C and C++ for multiplex monitoring method, The algorithm of choosing unit was used 'select and poll method' and the course assignment algorithm was embodied with 'Bellman-Ford algorithm'. The good result was achieved in the actual test without communication-data lose. The proposed method will be applied such as monitoring system of PV light on the wayside, monitoring system of unmanned lighthouse, monitoring system of refrigeration container on vessel and so on. It can be applied in the field that various ocean energy system.
A Study on the Method of Energy Saving in a Marine Cooling System

The ESS(Energy Saving System) is designed to have functions of controlling. monitoring for cooling system. etc. ESS consists of the I/O module, CPU module and Display module I/O module detects various ESS data on local area and treats signals via I/O interface system. The interface system receives various status data and outputs control signals. ESS is tested with dummy signal to verify proposed functions and is shown good results. For future study ESS will be tested under real condition in the ship.
