The purpose of this study is to find out a flow characteristics required by the design of a computer case and to provide information about the preliminary data of cooling efficiency of CPU and a flow inside of a case. We examined a flow characteristic-suction a tracing particle occurred from a surge tand installed at an inlet into a computer case and moving it to a exit duct-experimentally by using PIV. The experimental device was consists of a fan inflowing and discharging the air into the computer case and a slot installed with a CPU cooling ran add-on, and analyzed the data of Re-stress distribution, velocity distribution, and kinetic energy distribution. This research will make a great contribution to improvement of the efficiency and performance of notebook, workstation, server, and all the design of electronic devices using large scale integrated(LSI) as well as usual computers.

This study was conducted experimentally to investigate the characteristics of liquid atomization in a rotating disk atomizer by means of viscous liquid mixed water and glycerin. It has been known that one of the main obstacles of improving the performance of positive displacement hydraulic turbine is pressure pulsation which occurs at the regions upstream and downstream of the turbine. In order to suppress the pressure pulsation. occurrence reason of the pressure pulsation should be understood in detail Therefore. this study aims to establish a CFD analysis method by which the phenomena of unsteady pressure pulsation can be examined with high accuracy. Internal flow field of the turbine is modeled simply to generalize the relation between the pressure pulsation and internal flow. The results show that the Present CFD method adopting unsteady calculation can be applied successfully to the analysis of the Phenomena of Pressure Pulsation. Occurrence of the Pressure pulsation is due to the difference of the rotational speed of turbine rotors When driving rotor rotates by uniform speed and fellowing rotor rotates by variable speed, very large Pressure pulsation occurs within the turbine periodically.

Experimental study for the pressure drop of R-22 and R-4O7C during the condensation in the micro-fin tubes

Experiments were conducted for the investigation of pressure drop inside horizontal micro-fin tubes during the condensation of R-22 and ternary refrigerant. But if some difference in hardness on welding zones, repaired parts would be cracked in a short. Laser welding has the advantage of high welding speed and Provides low heat distortion Thus laser welding is a very attractive process for joining thin steel sheet and surface treated steel sheet. And the major item in market for surface treated steel sheet is zinc coated steel. However. the laser welding of zinc coated steel is very difficult because of its low boiling point. Compared with zinc, on the other hand, aluminum has a high boiling point. Thus, laser weldability of aluminized steel is better than that of zinc coated steel. Moreover aluminized steel sheet is a material with excellent heat resistance, thermal reflection and corrosion resistance. The results of laser weldability of the aluminized steel for the full penetration welding will be described in this paper We focused on the investigation of the phenomenons caused by coating condition and behavior of aluminum in weld.
Effect of Welding method and Welding Material to Corrosion Property of Repair Weld Zone for Exhaust Valve in 5% H

Recently a fuel oil of the diesel engine in the ship is being changed with low quality as the oil price is higher more and more. Therefore the wear and corrosion in all parts of the engine like cylinder liner ring groove of piston crown, spindle and seat ring of exhaust valve are increased with using of heavy oil of low quality In particular the degree of wear and corrosion in between valve spindle and seat ring are more serious compared to the other parts of the engine due to operating in severe environment such as the high temperature of exhaust gas and repeating impact. Thus the repair weld to the valve spindle and seat ring is a unique method to prolong the life of the exhaust valve in an economical point of view In this study. corrosion property of both weld metal zone and base metal was investigated with some electrochemical methods such as measurement of corrosion potential, cathodic and anodic polarization curves, cyclic voltammogram and polarization resistance etc. in 5%
solution. in the case of being welded with some welding methods and welding materials to the exhaust valve specimen as the base metal. In all cases. the values of hardness of the weld metal zone were more high than that of the base metal. And their corrosion resistance were also superior to the base metal. The weld metal of A2F(AC SMAW: 2 pass welding with foreign electrode) showed a relatively good results to the corrosion resistance as well as the hardness compared to the ether welding methods and welding materials. Moreover it indicated that hardness of the weld metal by the domestic electrode was considerably high compared to that of the foreign electrode.
A Study on the Optimum Shape of Basalt Liner for Inner Wall Protection of Ball Mill

For protection of the cylinder wall of the ball mill for grinding raw ore. the inner side of the cylinder is covered with rubber liner. The rubber is easily worn down because the rubber relatively soft compared with raw ore. So the rubber liner in the ball mill cylinder must be replaced almost every year and the cost for replacing rubber liner formidable. In this paper, for reducing or excluding the cost of replacing rubber liner the basalt liner is designed. The basalt materials are generally harder than raw ore and the basalt liner in the ball mill does not wear down and so it can be used almost permanently. The concave surfaces are made on the liner of the ball mill and the liner in the cylinder wall plays also the role of raising the steel balls mixed in the raw ore. The section profiles of the concave surface have an important effect on the performance of the ball mill. The deep concave grooves raise the steel balls to high levels and give the large potential energy to the steel balls impacting to the raw ore. But if the concave grooves are too deep. the steel balls raised too high by the concave grooves fly along the parabolic path and reach to the other side of cylinder wall and so the steel balls do not play the roles of grinding the raw ore. The forces acting to a steel ball in a concave groove of the cylinder liner are also analyzed in this paper. The formulas calculating the height and the impact point of the steel ball are introduced and presented. Based to these formulas, the optimum section profiles of the basalt liner are presented.
Novel Long-period Fiber Grating devices for Monitoring the Deformation of Ship Hull

We have developed novel optical-fiber sensors based on strain-induced long-period fiber gratings for monitoring the deformation of a hull. They have no external pressure for sustaining the mechanical formed gratings. The pressure, which provides a force to form the periodic grating along the single mode fiber, was realized by the bonding strength of a photopolymer. To reduce the polarization dependency of the sensors caused by the asymmetry structure of gratings, a Faraday Rotator Mirror (FRM) was utilized in this experiment. We have realized the polarization-insensitive function of the proposed sensors. The change of an external strain are measured by an optical spectrum analyzer. When the external stain increases. the attenuation at the resonant wavelength decreases and the loss peak was slightly shifted to the shorter wavelength.
A Study on the Analysis of Axial Vibration of Flexible Shafting System for Propulsion and Lift in Air Cushion Vehicle

In this study, axial vibration analysis has been conducted on a propulsion and lift shafting system for an air cushion vehicle using ANSYS code. The shafting system is totally flexible multi-elements system including wood composite material of air propeller. aluminum alloy of lift fan and thin walled shaft with flexible coupling. The analysis calculated the axial natural frequencies and mode shapes of the shafting system taking into account an equivalent mass-elastic model for shafting system as well as the three-dimensional models for propeller blade and fan impeller. Such a flexible shafting system has very intricate vibrating characteristics and especially, axial natural frequencies of flexible components such as propeller blade and impeller of lift fan can be lower to the extent that causes a resonance in the range of operating revolution. The results for axial vibration analysis are presented and compared with the results of axial vibration test for lift fan conducted during Sea Trial.
A Highly Integrated HBT Downconverter MMIC for Application to One-chip RF tranceiver solution

In this work, a highly integrated downconverter MMIC employing HBT(heterojunction bipolar transistor) was developed for application to one chip tranceiver solution of Ku-band commercial wireless communication system. The downconverter MMIC (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) includes mixer filter. amplifier and input/output matching circuit. Especially, spiral inductor structures employing SiN film were used for a suppression of LO and its second harmonic leakage signals. Concretely, they were properly designed so that the self-resonance frequency was accurately tuned to LO and its second harmonic frequency, and they were integrated on the downconverter MMIC.

This paper is mainly concerned with the development of the semi-autonomous underwater vehicle (SAUV). Underwater vehicles are affected by external disturbances due to the sea conditions such as currents and waves when it is performing various missions In this paper we present a design scheme of the SAUV system with mathematical models. Also. we present a control system including motion control of motors and main controller and a communication based on CAN method for interrelated control between the controllers and actuators.
A Study on the Properties of Loop System Configured by Coupling 2 PI Controllers for Fault Diagnosis

When 2 sets of PID controllers are coupled directly each other to configure a closed control loop on behalf of coupling a controller and a plant. the behaviors or this exclusive loop system are expected to be unique in inherent system responses. If its properties be disclosed and generalized well in advance, it is possible for us to use the results for the purpose of fault detection and performance monitoring between control stations from the stage of system design. particularly in such cases as cascade control systems. In this paper. general properties of the proposed system are analyzed firstly to check whether it is controllable and how its steady responses would be. To simplify calculation, the analysis has been performed based on the transfer equation derived from a modelled case which consists of 2 PI controllers and signal converters between them. including time delay element and first-lag element to consider the situation of signal transmission. The results acquired from simulation are suggested to show how it works actually.
A Study about Choice of Industrial Mixer`s Impeller Type for PIV and CFD
