Engine makers are lately interested in the gas engine development as the alternative for diesel engine in order to cope the rise of oil price and the environmental regulation. So, STX has developed the 1.6MW gas engine which was converted from 22HLX diesel engine. The gas engine developed with precombustion chamber, which has good performance of 21bar BMEP at engine speed 1000rpm and low
emission of 50ppm at 15% oxygen composition, has been developed recently. Especially, it has a good thermal efficiency of 45% and a reduction efficiency of green house gas(
) emission of 25% than a conventional diesel engine.
A study on the Temperature Profile with combustion conditions change for the Optimum drive of Plate type Hydrogen Generation Sytem

The purpose of this study is to search the temperature-rise time conditions for adequate reforming temperature region of hydrogen generation system. And we measured theexhaust gas at the exit of that system in order to know the combustion state of hydrogen generation system`s combustor. We found the optimum condition of heat supply and temperature-rise time at well burned state. And the results were nearly same when the reactants were entered to each reactors. We will further consider the effects of temperature change near the exothermic reactors and find out hydrogen yield through reforming experiment.
A Study on the Heat Accumulation Performance of Ceramic Honeycomb located on the Flat Burner

Recently energy crisis and environmental pollution using fossil fuel became social issue. The Fuel Cell, one of the new and renewable energy has great advantage for the former mentioned problems. The PEM Fuel Cell needs highly purified hydrogen for fuel, in many cases CH4 was reformed to H2 basically using steam reforming. The purpose of this paper is to understand the probability of ceramic honeycomb to apply the combustor of STR. We tested the heat accumulation performance of ceramic honeycomb by change of excess air ratio. The results were suitable for our purpose and also these results can be used to make high temperature air at mild combustion field.
A Study on the Stability of SPMT

Currently, large vessels and structures are manufactured into set of blocks, then assembled on-site. Large scale ships that weigh thousands of tons are built in a short period by making set of large blocks and assembled on a dock or a land. When a transporter encounters a slope during the process of transporting blocks, the heavy goods loaded on the transporter can be tilted. Further, if the vehicle moves down the slope in this state then it can cause an accident of overturn of loaded goods. The research has been taken into account to calculate the center of gravity of the transporter carrying heavy objects on a leveled surface or the three dimensions. In addition, ZMP (Zero Moment Point) is used to calculate the allowable slope degree that objects are predicted to overturn. Through the simulation, the objects` stability is tested when it is climbing the slope.
Comparison of Hilbert and Hilbert-Huang Transform for The Early Fault Detection by using Acoustic Emission Signal

Recently, Acoustic Emission (AE) technique is widely applied to develop the early fault detection system, and the problem about a signal processing method for AE signal is mainly focused on. In the signal processing method, envelope analysis is a useful method to evaluate the rolling element bearing problems and Wavelet transform is a powerful method to detect faults occurred on gearboxes. However, exact method for AE signal is not developed yet. Therefore, in this paper, two methods, which is Hilbert transforms (HT) and Hilbert-Huang transforms (HHT), will be compared for development a signal processing method for early fault detection system by using AE. AE signals were measured through a fatigue test. HHT has better advantages than HT because HHT can show the time-frequency domain result. But, HHT needs long time to process a signal, which has a lot of data, and has a disadvantage in de-noising filter.
A Study on Wind Load Variation Characteristics of Wind Turbine Gearbox

In this study, normal wind load and blast wind load are modeled mathematical. And the periodical torque and bending moments transmitted to the main shaft of wind turbine are investigated. A normal wind model assumed, of which the wind velocity is increased according to the height from ground. The average values and the harmonic terms of the transmitted moments are studied on the wind direction of range
and the bending moment characteristics are examined, which is regarded as the main source of the misalignment of gear train. In normal wind load case, excitation frequency is 3X (X : Rotor speed). When the wind direction is
, the horizontal axis of bending moment occur the 50% of main torque. This result leads to edge contact of gear teeth by shaft elastic deformation. In blast wind load case, excitation frequency are 3X,6X,9X. Additional, in the (+) direction of wind load, relative harmonic percentage is increase.
A Study on Improvement of Durability for Run-out Table Roller with Hot Rolling by Porous Self-fluxing Alloy Coating

The objective of this research is to develop the coating technique by a porous self-fluxing alloy for improving the mechanical properties of run-out table roller surface with the hot rolling. To enhance the durability of run-out table roller with the hot rolling, the high hardness of roller surface should be maintained at high temperatures, and the improvement of wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, burn resistance and adhesion resistance should be maintained. In order to be able to transport reliably a hot rolled steel sheet, also, the appropriate friction coefficient on the roller surface should be maintained and the slip between roller and steel should not occur. In this study, the wear resistance of roller increases after the self-fluxing alloy is changed to a cermet by adding the tungsten carbide(WC), and the coefficient of friction increases and the ability of grip is improved because the porosities are made by coating with fine iron powder on the roller surface. As a result, it is found that the ability of grip between the steel and the roller coated by a porous self-fluxing alloy contained to 5 ~ 10 wt% of Fe in the coating layer is improved compared to the roller coated by Ni-Cr. This is because the porosities are made after Fe contained in the roller is partially alloyed by heating with a furnace in the fusing process and the rest is eliminated by oxidation and dissolution.
Numerical Study on Cavitation Performance Evaluation in a Centrifugal Pump Impeller

In this investigation, flow analysis with single phase has been performed for a centrifugal impeller with a design efficiency of 90%, head of 20m and rotational speed of 3500 rpm at a design flow rate of 16m3. The impeller was designed based on an empirical formula suggested by A.J. Stepanoff. In a case of the single phase analysis, the hydraulic efficiency and head is 88.8% and 19.4m, respectively, which showed a good agreement with the values designed. The flow analysis with two phases was carried out under the various NPSH, at whose 8.79m the cavitation on the suction side of the blade was observed. The required NPSH of the designed impeller is approximately 6.5m and above this value, the designed centrifugal pump impeller needs to be operated under inlet pressure condition.

Shipbuilding industry has used a lot of
gas as a shielding gas for arc welding and thus, development of welding equipment which can reduce the amount of
gas is requested widely. Therefore, this study is focused on the examination of optimum welding torch distance of Tandem welding system as a fundamental study for the optimum shape design of torch nozzle.

A Routing Scheme based on Normalized Location and Transmission Characteristics (NLTCR) for Multi-Carrier MANETs at Sea

Self-configuration network model is to overcome the limits of data communications at sea. As a research for enhancing the connectivity and scalability of data networks at sea using the diversity and heterogeneity of the data networks on land, in this paper, a routing scheme (NLTCR) based on not conventional hop counts but distances to destination ships is introduced. The NLTCR seeks an optimal route by normalized distances to a destination, and transmission characteristics of applications and carriers. Performance is evaluated and compared with those of the max-win (MWR) and the normalized transmission characteristics (NTCR) based schemes.
A Study on the White LED-based Underwater and Surface-to-Underwater Optical Wireless Communication Systems

In this paper, we present surface-to-underwater visible light communication systems using white LEDs. Pulse position modulation (PPM)-based analogue data communications and on-off keying-based digital data communications systems are developed. Inexpensive and commercial power-LEDs and photo-diodes are used to construct two types of systems. We report the experimental results obtained from the prototype systems to show the possibility of an optical underwater visible light transceiver as a basis for short range underwater wireless network. Their performance deteriorates more than the atmosphere`s one because of attenuation and scattering of the light in water, but these results are promising for the potential to create more robust network interface that improve medium performance such as a LED modulation and a photo-detector demodulation.
Study on the Dynamic Modeling of MCCB

Generally circuit devices of low voltage are as follows, ICCB, PCB and MCCB. Among them, MCCB is typically used because it has superior characteristics which fuses do not possess, such as safety, controllability and ability to collaborate with other devices. The MCCB plays vital role, it has to trip instantaneously when the fault is occurred as well as it must have high insulation capacity. Therefore in order to enhance the breaking capacity, the study of contact construction, contact tip and link are necessary. This paper shows dynamic modeling of mechanism part of MCCB using an exclusive analysis program, and embodies the research of improvement of mechanism performance.
New Arc Chamber to Improve Breaking Capacity

The mechanism unit, arc chamber and trip unit are imperative components of MCCB which will decide the level of performance of MCCB. Among them, Arc chamber unit is used for extinguishing arc rapidly of fault current and induce the arc inside of grid. At that time inducing arc will split into parts and cooled rapidly so the arc would disappear. This paper suggests new arc chamber unit to improve arc extinguishing performance with optimum design and are applied to actual products based on the results.
A Study on the Establishment of Engine Room Resource Management System using the Requirements of ISO 9001

The Engine Room Resource Management System will be applied to ocean going ships according to the revision of 2010 STCW convention. This paper aims to study the practical procedures for establishing Engine Room Resource Management System in connection with the eight quality management principles of ISO 9001 and Korean law. For the purpose of this study. the definition and the necessity of Engine Room Resource Management System and customer, product, customer requirements in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 are reviewed and discussed.
