Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlations by SPSS PC Program. The results showed that university students generally demonstrated a higher level of individual-oriented beliefs than relation-oriented beliefs on parental beliefs. With regard to parental beliefs, family relation-oriented beliefs was relatively low in comparison with independence/autonomy-oriented beliefs, happiness-oriented beliefs, and cognition/knowledge-oriented beliefs. In addition, emotional value of children was relatively high in comparison with instrumental value of children. Also, male university students possessed a higher level of filial obligation. the level of cohabitation experience with their parents played a significant role in affecting the level of filial obligation. Unsurprisingly, a higher relation-oriented parental beliefs and emotional value of children demonstrated a higher level of filial obligation. There were also positive relationships between emotional value, instrumental value, and filial obligation. Hence, this study suggests that a practical, functional training services and resources for future parents must be ensued.

Kwak, Hae Kyung ; Kang, Gi Sook ;
Korean Journal of Childcare and Education, volume 3, issue 2, 2007, Pages 86~107
This research investigated the Korean students' traditional value of children in family, by asking the degree of agreement on the proverbs concerning the notion of preferring a son, negative value on a daughter, and hardness of child-rearing. The findings indicated that in general the Korean students were disagreed on the traditional value of children in family, while many of them still agreed on hardness of child-rearing. We expected that female students were likely to express the stronger disagreement on preferring a son and negative value on a daughter, but there was no difference in preferring a son. Also we expected that the students who had lived with their grandparents would more likely to have the traditional values, but they expressed the stronger disagreement on preferring a son than others. Second, in general the Korean students disagreed on familism. The female students and the students who had lived with their grandparents were likely to express the stronger disagreement on familism. Third, there was positive correlation between familism and preferring a son, and between familism and negative value on a daughter. Fourth, the students who believed that there was no absolute necessity for the child in a family expressed the stronger disagreement on preferring a son, and scored lower degree on familism. There was negative correlation between the ideal number of children in a family and the notion of hardness of child-rearing, but positive correlation between the ideal number of children and familism. And as much as they answered the longer child-rearing period, scored positive value on a daughter.

Hwang, Ock Kyeung ;
Korean Journal of Childcare and Education, volume 3, issue 2, 2007, Pages 123~146
This study has attempted to suggest an assistant model for systematic child care accreditation. This has been carried out from the current consciousness of such needs for child care accreditation as large regional disparity in assistant level, no indication to definite contents and method of assistance, demand for assistant professionals with intensified capacity and requirement for the support of financial and human resources. Six stages of assistant process: the stage of establishment and management of preparation class, the stage of application for assistance and consultation, the stage of assistant meeting, the stage of workshop and observation to exemplary institutions, and the stage of practical application and evaluation of visiting assistance have been suggested. Particularly in order to improve the efficiency of assistance, organization of a committee of expert advisors in each area has been indicated. For the guideline of assistant management, operation of preparation class for accreditation, security of assistant committee members, provision of systematic training and assistant manual, development of supervision program and financial support have been suggested. This assistant manual will contribute to systematic and efficient conduct of assistance program of child care accreditation.
