Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 5~18
The purpose of this study is to suggest size specifications for the development of mastectomy bras and breast prostheses. To collect anthropometric data, 250 middle aged women's body measurement were taken and the data were analyzed by statistical methods such as ANOVA, correlation analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis. The results of the analysis of measurement data showed that lengths. breadths, depths, circumferences are increased significantly when getting older. The results of the correlation analysis showed that there was no direct linear relationship between chest circumference and cup size. From 29 measurements, 4 factors were selected as key factors by the tractor analysis and the breast type were classified into 2 groups by cluster analysis. To set up sizing systems for the mastectomy brassiere, chest circumference and cup size were selected and the loss function was used to decide Intervals of each of them. 6 sizes from chest circumference and 4 sizes from cup sizes were picked, Breast breadth, breast length and breast height were chosen to establish sizing systems for the breast prosthesis. To decide intervals of each of them, the loss function was used and 8 sizes from composition of the 3 factors were picked.

Analysis of Previous Color Study : Focused on Study Category and Color Preference Study
Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 33~49
The purpose of this study was to analyse the previous color studies. A number of publications and journals were reviewed and analyzed carefully. The results of review and analysis were as follows : There were many different subjects in color studies and they were usually categorized into ten fundamental groups : color preferences, color image/symbol/association of ideas, emotion and colors, image making with colors, colors related with consumers' decision making, traditional colors, semantic color description, color plan of apparel merchandise, influential factors on colors, and color coordination preferences. In general, the color preference studies are conducted most actively, and they are followed by the studies of color image/symbol/association of ideas and traditional colors. In the previous studies on the color preferences, they provided sufficient amount of information on the preferred colors and the preferred apparel colors. however, they lacked in providing appropriate explanation on how these color preferences were related with colors in fashion. Also, there have been no thorough studies that questioned the reliability of measurement methods for obtaining color preference data. The authors also realized that it was extremely difficult to find any related publications on the studies that focus various influential variables on the disagreement between the preferred color and preferred apparel color. Thus, this study directed the future studies to solve the problem discussed above.

Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 51~58
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of store image preferences on clothing impulse purchasing of male college students. The sample included 290 male college students, and an instrument was developed based on the previous studies. The statistical analyses used for this study were factor analysis and multiple regression. The result of factor analysis showed that store image preferences consisted of five factors : promotion, display, service, product, brand preferences. Clothing impulse purchasing consisted of product-driven impulse purchasing, situation-driven impulse purchasing, emotion-driven impulse purchasing. Multiple regression revealed that there were significant effects of store image preferences on dimensions of clothing impulse purchasing. For example, promotion preference factor had a positive impact on product-driven impulse purchasing and situation-driven impulse purchasing, but had a negative impact on emotion-driven impulse purchasing. The relative importance of store image preference factors were different according to different dimensions of clothing impulse purchasing.
The fashion Design of the Avantgarde Artists during the Early Twentieth Century - Focus on the Constructivism -
Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 59~73
This paper is to examine the meaning of activities of a number of artists who belong to Constructivism in the fashion design area during early twentieth century. After Russian Revolution, the artists like Nadeshda Lamanowa, Ljubow Popowa and Warwara Stepanova decided to devote to practical art area for many People. It's very meaningful for them to jump into real work places like a textile mill and a clothing workshop instead of staying in fine art area. Constructivism is more related to social interest rather than individual thing. The artists tried to apply their modeling principles in fine art to dress making. We can see the geometrical lines and shapes and big differences In colors and material in their dress. The artists had also shown personal tastes to dress works. This idea of togetherness with their time and even to create the style of it. was very renovative at that time and gave an influence on the later styles.
A Study on Dasan s System of Washing and Shrouding a Dead Body - Focused on SANGUJUNG -
Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 75~85
The system of washing and shrouding a dead body is a series of procedures for encoffining in funeral rites, which are taken after death indentification by using CHOKWANG and praying for the resurrection of a dead body by calling a soul departed from the body. The washing and shrouding a dead body (hereinafter reffered to as "YEOMSEUP") is the broad concept which contains the procedures of washing, clothing and shrouding the body. The clothing includes washing, putting rices into the mouth. and then dressing while the shrouding includes first wrapping, second-wrapping and encoffining. The clothes for YEOMSEUP (all clothes and articles for funeral rites are designated) will be put in the coffin along with a dead body according to the YEOMSEUP procedures. Dasan, a SILHAK scholar in the late Yi Dynasty, pointed out some problems of the funeral rites observed in those days. At the same time, he found that the problems had arisen from the misinterpretation of the original descriptions in Chinese characters. and had tried to correct them. The books written by Dasan basically emphasized his ideology reshaping the whole procedures by trimming and removing meaningless formalities which are too much luxurious and wasteful and making them as a part of the original principles of the funeral rites. His Intents are clearly shown in his wrings on practical ettiquttes, such as SANGRYESAJON and SANGUIJEOLYO. In its attempt, this study aims at reformulating the DASAN\\`s SANGRYESAJON in terms of YEOMSEUP methods. A lot of virtues of the Dasan, like WOOSU, SIMUI, DAEDAE, MO, SORYUMHYO and DAERYUMHYO could also be found accordingly. The merits and characteristic in funeral rites are an obedience in filial duty, the pursuit of frugality. and the efficiency of practical functions. It could be said that the resurvey of DASAN′s theory on YEOMSEUP procedures is a meaningful work today when the original meaning of funeral rites fades out. Furthermore, discussions of refined burial service and encouraging cremation designed to improve land use, which are widely spread among people, could weaken the basic philosophy of YEOMSEUP and more likely propagate the atmosphere of despising the dignity of human beings.

Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 111~127
This study aims to apply the formative aesthetic of human body to the form of clothing. For this purpose I try to find the various methods of analysis used in the work of sculpture. The method of inference and the checklists of design are used to relate the sculpture with the clothing design specifically. This methodology intends to regard human body as an artistic form and use the image of sculpture to the maximum. Especially I try to derive the motives of design and recreate them in clothing design emphasizing silhouette. On this methodology, following results were developed. First, the observations on the formative characteristic of human body show that the transformed form of human body expresses more perfect image of human body than the original form. The power of simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity and exaggeration can be variously recreated in a silhouette with the formative and cubic effect, simplicity, and activity. Third, the elegant and static image found in the analysis and synthesis of human body can be used as a motive of clothing design and the changed details lead to the transformation of silhouette. Fourth, in developing designs by the item of checklists, one motive can be variously recreated according to the methods of designs.

A Study on the Clothing Modesty of New Generation in 1990s
Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 141~153
The Purpose of this research is to compare the feminine modesties expressed in the clothes of women's college students in 1980s and 1990s, and to find out the social cause of the change of modesty by reference data. Korean women's college students in 1980s considered feminine modesty very important in the selection of clothes but students in 1990's had quite different attitudes. The major cause of this change may be due to the fact that the traditional conservative values in clothes were diminished in 1990's. The main cause of different values in 1980s and 1990s is the rapid social change of korean society in this Period. The concrete factors of changes were the change of authoritarian aesthetic values and the Positive orientation to diversity individuality sensibility and sexuality.
A Study on the Costumes of the Envoys from the Three Kingdoms painted in Wanghoido(王會圖) and Bungekipjodo(蕃客入朝圖)
Journal of the Korean Society of Costume, volume 51, issue 3, 2001, Pages 155~170
This study is about investigation of the historical value of Wanghoido(王會圖) and Bungekipjodo(蕃客入朝圖) and examination of the costumes of the Envoys from the Three Kingdoms drawn in the paintings above. Wanghoido(王會圖) is presumed to be painted around early 7th century. This is a colored picture on silk on which twenty-six Envoys from twenty-four Kingdoms are painted. Bungekipjodo(蕃客入朝圖) is presumed to be painted in the early 10th century. This is drawn on paper with only black brush line, no color. There are thirty-five Envoys from thirty-one Kingdoms in the painting. Wanghoido(王會圖) and Bungekipjodo(蕃客入朝圖) are the important materials which are useful to understand the original Liangjlkgongdo(梁職貢圖). From the records about interchange of the Envoys in the early 6th century, the characters and costumes painted in Wanghoido(王會圖) and Bungekipjodo(蕃客入朝圖), the copy of the original Liangjikgongdo(梁職貢圖), get the reality. The Envoys from Koguryo(高句麗), Paekche(百濟), and Shilla(新羅) painted in the two paintings above are all wearing Jangyu or Yu(장유 or 유; an upper garment), Go(袴:trousers), Kwanmo(冠帽:headdress), Dae(帶뿔:belt), and Hwa(靴:shoes). But they differ in some aspects. For example, the shape of the Kwanmo(冠帽), hair style and patterns on the costumes, etc.
