A Study on Spinal Bone Mineral Density Measured with Quantitative Computed Tomography

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the bone mineral content of women who went through osteoporotic menopause and that of women who are healthy. For the purpose, this researcher sampled some women and divided them into three groups. Group 1 consisted of women who were pre-menopausal and healthy, group 2, women who were post-menopausal and health and group 3, women who went through osteoporotic menopause. The researcher measured the bone density of all the subjects and compared its difference among the three groups. Then the researcher compared and analyzed the influences of bone density on the spine among women of each group or those of all the groups. Among all regions of the spine, that of most region was spongiosa which was ovally shaped. The researcher measured the bone mineral content of spongiosa which existed in a particular section of the spine between T12 and L4. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. The older women were, the lower their bone density was. Especially, women who had osteoporosis were significantly lower in bone density than those who were healthy. In all women, except those of group 1, bone density more and more lowered as the measured region of the spine gradually moved from T12 to L4. From a statistical view, the bone density of the entire vertebral body could discriminate the groups 1, 2 and 3. But it was not possible to discriminate between the groups 2 and 3 only with the bone density of the most interested region as mentioned above.
The shoulder diagnosis Scapula study of patients who visited the hospital

True lateral scapula image was very important to diagnosis the scapula fracture and dislocation induced by traumatic injury. The aim of this study was to know the patient rotation angle to be showing the scapula true lateral in korean. d Materials Thirty patients(22men, 8 women, mean ages 53.4)with scapular pain, had supine Anteroposterior projection taken with
trunk rotation angle changing the manual angulation material. Radiographs were evaluated independently by 5 experienced observers(1 orthopedics surgery specialist, 1 diagnostic radiology specialist, 3 radiological technologist) They assessed overlap of vertebral border and axillary border of scapula as follows; Totally overlapping of vertebral border and axillary border is 4, partially overlapping is 3, not overlapping is 2 and oblique location with two borders is 1. All observers scored using by PACS monitor.

. There was no difference(p<0.05) between group of more than 100cm of the girth of the chest and group of less than 100cm. Similarly, men and women group showed no difference(p<0.05) with trunk rotation statistically. There was no result of trunk rotation angle to radiograph the true scapula lateral image up to date. This studies were summarized as follows; Adaptation of
trunk rotation was the best to show the true scapula lateral image in korean. Our results were very useful to get the true scapula lateral images in clinic.
The fabrication and evaluation of CdS sensor for diagnostic x-ray detector application

Recently, various semiconductor compounds as radiation detection material have been researched for a diagnostic x-ray detector application. In this paper, we have fabricated the CdS detecton sensor that has good photosensitivity and high x-ray absorption efficiency among other semiconductor compounds, and evaluated the application feasibility by investigating the detection properties about energy range of diagnostic x-ray generator. We have fabricated the line voltage selector(LCV) for a signal acquisition and quantities of CdS sensor, and designed the voltage detection circuit and rectifying circuit. Also, we have used a relative relation algorithm according to x-ray exposure condition, and fabricated the interface board with DAC controller. Performance evaluation was investigated by data processing using ANOVA program from voltage profile characteristics according to resistive change obtained by a tube voltage, tube current, and exposure time that is a exposure condition of x-ray generator. From experimental results, an error rates were reduced according to increasing of a tube voltage and tube current, and a good properties of 6%(at 90 kVp) and 0.4%(at 320 mA) ere showed. and coefficient of determination was 0.98 with relative relation of 1:1. The error rate according to x-ray exposure time showed exponential reduction because of delayed response velocity of CdS material, and the error rate has 2.3% at 320 msec. Finally, the error rate according to x-ray dose is below 10%, and a high relative relation was showed with coefficient of determination of 0.9898.
Study on electrical properties of photoconductors for radiation detector application based on liquid crystal

A X-ray optical modulator measures x-ray dose using optical transmissivity ratio change of the liquid crystal cell. To apply in this optical modulator, we made photoconductor films and compared electrical properties of this films in this study. Photoconductors are deposited on ITO glass with
using the percipitation method and print method. I-V test was conducted to alalyze electrical properties of this films and measured darkcurrent and SNR was acquired using the measured dark current and sensitivity. As a result of this measurements,
film made by precipitation method is lower(about 40%) darkcurrent than
films made by precipitation method and sensitivity is two times greater than print method. And we knew that
films were also 10~25 times greater SNR at
, PbO, CdTe film made by precipitation method. This results suggest that
films made by precipitation method has improved characteristics of x-ray dose meter by applying in x-ray optical modulator.
A Study on the Perception Level of SI and Radiation Units

In this study, we surveyed students recognition of the base units and radiation related units among international standard units, and determined the necessity of unit education. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire composed of 18 questions, and in the survey, students at the Radiology Department were asked about recognition and education. According to the results of the survey, around 44% of the students answered wrongly on base unit kV, and around 28% answered wrongly on km. Particularly with regard to the relation between units and numbers, around 57% of the students chose wrong answers. As to prefix mega and giga, respectively, 22% and 20% of the students chose wrong answers. To the question on radiation related unit Sv, around 30% gave wrong answers. Recognition of radiation related units was higher in senior students. To the question of whether to have received special education on units, over 50% of the students replied negatively. These results suggest the necessity of education on international standard units.
