Park, Jung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.001
In comparison with the acquirement of knowledge by expression of symbol or numerical formula, the experience based knowledge acquirement give stable and clear understanding of information to a learner. Various educational systems based on computer such as virtual reality, intelligent learning system, visualization of concept, simulation-based system, and microworld have so far been developed. In this paper, a method of two dimensional visualization of a physical law by simulation has been suggested to educate a learner. Especially, learning the law of gravity by simulation based educational method gives a learner indirect experience that enhance the efficiency of knowledge acquirement clearly. The visualization methods of a real-time physical law and a virtual anomalies' physical law by simulation are proposed in this paper to deliver information or knowledge clearly. Then we show that a learner can acquire some knowledge effectively by the proposed method.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 10~19
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.010
The progress of computers and Web has given rise to a rapid increase of the quantity of the useful information, which is making the demand of recommender systems widely expanding. Like in other domains, a recommender system in a digital library is important, but there are only a few studies about the recommender system of research papers, Moreover none is there in korea to our knowledge. In the paper, we seek for a way to develop the NDSL recommender system of research papers based on the survey of related studies. We conclude that NDSL needs to modify the way to collect user's interests from explicit to implicit method, and to use user-based and memory-based collaborative filtering mixed with contents-based filtering(CF). We also suggest the method to mix two filterings and the use of personal ontology to improve user satisfaction.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 20~29
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.020
The typical Kinetic Family Drawing (KFD) Web database system, a form of prototype system, has been developed, relying on the suggestions from family art therapists, with an aim to handle large amounts of assessment data and to facilitate effective implement of assessment activities. However, unfortunately such a system has an intrinsic problem that it fails to collect clients' behaviors, attitudes, facial expressions, voices, and other critical information observed while they are drawing. Accordingly we propose the ontology based video event analysis and video retrieval system in this paper, in order to enhance the function of a KFD Web database system by using a web camera and drawing tool. More specifically, a newly proposed system is designed to deliver two kinds of services: the client video retrieval service and the sketch video retrieval service, accompanied by a summary report of occurred events and dynamic behaviors relative to each family member object, respectively. The proposed system can support the reinforced KFD assessments by providing quantitative and subjective information on clients' working attitudes and behaviors, and KFD preparation processes.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 30~37
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.030
It is very important to analyze online customer reviews, which are small documents of writing opinions or experiences about products or services, for both customers and companies because the customers can get good informations and the companies can establish good marketing strategies. In this paper, we did not propose only dependency network model which is tool for analyzing online customer reviews, but also designed and implemented the system based on the dependency network model. The dependency network model analyzes both subjective and objective sentences, so that it can represent relative importance and relationship between the nouns in the sentences. In the result of implementing, we recognized that relative importance and relationship between the features of products or services, which can not be mined by opinion mining, can be represented by the dependency network model.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 48~57
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.048
Previous post sender recognition study was focused on recognizing the address of receiver. Relatively, there was lack of study to recognize the information of sender's address. Post sender recognition study is necessary for the service and application using sender information such as returning. This paper did the experiment and suggested how to recognize post sender using SIFT. Although SIFT shows great recognition rate, SIFT had problems with time and mis-recognition. One is increased time to match keypoints in proportion as the number of registered model. The other is mis-recognition of many similar keypoints even though they are all different models due to the nature of post sender. To solve the problem, this paper suggested SIFT adding distance function and did the experiment to compare time and function. In addition, it is suggested how to register and classify models automatically without the manual process of registering models.

Data-centric storage schemes(DCS) are one of representative researches that efficiently store and manage sensor readings in sensor nodes in the sensor networks. In DCS, a sensor sends the sensed data to a specific node in order to store them. However, it has a problem that sensor nodes consume a lot of energy for transmitting their readings to remote sensor node. In this paper, we propose a novel sensor data compression algorithm to reduce communication costs for DCS. The proposed algorithm establishes a safe region and transmits the sensed data only when current measurement is out of the safe region, As a result, the proposed algorithm extends network life time and reduces data transmission. It is shown through performance evaluation that our proposed algorithm reduces energy consumption by about 60% over the conventional algorithm.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 68~79
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.068
With the social infrastructure being deteriorated, there is a growing need to introduce the asset management to social infrastructure management in order to increase their value and save budget. Social infrastructure asset management is a new concept of facility management in response to these demands. It is defined as a procedure for collecting and analysing facility maintenance data and for making and practicing an economically optimized management plan. Detailed survey work of asset management business is analyzed in order to derive a strategy for asset management information. The contents of IIMM of New Zealand and the asset management definition of the FHWA of the United States, and representative facility management systems of Korea are analysed. The role between organizations and the relationship between business and organization were analyzed. Information required for asset management and for existing facility management systems is compared with business of asset management. In this thesis, three development strategies are suggested. The first one is to develop core business of asset management while excluding duplicated development. The second one is to divide system's structure into three layers. And the last one is to share information by interfacing asset management systems with existing facility management systems.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 102~112
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.102
This study is the secondary full-scale research of a TV drama writer, who has been out of scholarly pursuits. This study examines the Su-Hyeon Kim's differential and tendency in home-drama genre, who has been constructing a general idea of TV drama genre, namely a home-drama, and a melodrama. The purpose of this study is to reconsider the meantime both of exclusive evaluation by the functional measure of social norm, also by the feminism-based evaluation of her drama's supporting role of patriarchal gender ideology. By focusing on her recent highly popular home-drama
(2008), this study shows that the writer used her own category grammar strategy of harmonizing both of convention and invention in genre. The conventions in genre are 'a big family', 'a pluralistic construction' 'a realism based on a everyday life', and 'a theme of love of a family with happy ending'. The invention in genre are 'a change of the 1st generation patriarchy', 'a change of the 2nd generation role of a housewife' and a change of the 3rd generation marriage customs'. Also this paper presents that the writer showed a humanistic tendency that pursues a recovery of both 'humanity' and 'love of family based on trusting', which have been destroying by capitalistic ideology, rather than discussing whether her tendency on the gender ideology of patriarchism is conservative or not.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.113
This article studies on the character design of North Korea's puppet animation around 1985. At that time North Korea's puppet animation are improved glaringly in quantitative side and qualitative side of modeling. There has been constant support nationalistically to puppet animation from the initial period of animation production in North Korea unlike South Korea, and North Korea communicated lively with European socialist countries where tradition of puppet animation is strong. We can discover structural and figurative change of distinct feature in character design in 1985. Structurally, experimental forms and correct movement of joint were possible, because they used ball and socket armature. Expressively, they established own esthetics of character design in puppet animation applying technique of korean traditional painting to character design: laconism, perspicuity, delicacy.

China shows an evident growth in its visual culture in recent years, fueled by its accumulated wealth and the influx of relatively advanced visual culture from Hong Kong. There have been recent attempts to further the economic ties with Taiwan to form a pan-Chinese film market. Considering most Chinese blockbusters are produced by film makers in Hong Kong, it is safe to claim that Chinese films are the extension of Cantonese films. This text examines the past makings of Korean-Cantonese films and their influence. Based on the findings, it explores the necessary efforts on a civil level and the governmental support, required for Korea to make its way into the pan-Chinese film market as an equal participant. Such foundation would protect Korean film market in the midst of fast-changing media scape and serve as a stepping stone for Korea's advance into the pan-Chinese visual market.

With the advent of new media richness of technology in the digital age has transformed our lives. The development of technology, the more our lives more convenient, new, future-oriented, while expectations for the digital age, people are longing for warm, human sensibility became. Of modernism and post-modernism appeared to reflect the proliferation of digital media in culture, wandering through the complex has been diversifying. In the digital age stabilizing psychological or mental needs of people who want to begin to emerge as the disfunctional aspects of the digital age has been suggested for the problem. To respond to human emotion on the emotional reaction of users to consider the analog emotional design began to emerge. The analog to digital media to express emotions practical approach to the problem should be attempted. Analog in a digital environment, emotional nature of the digital technology and communication, and symbolic and emotional aspects of people as announced to blend the new extension, change, and an analog emotional design for the evolution and development of new possibilities to investigate the castle.

has a different story structure from western movies, i.e. New Character->reaction->food->master mediation->effect of food->disappearance ->conclusion. Comic book
is full of media traits. The master is like a shaman, who console people with food of memory. Food also is a media, which carries message of memory instead of savor itself. Restaurant is a media, in which many events occur and rhetoric of rumor pervade. Foods of memory massage our feeling sense, like a media. In conclusion, comic book
has a analogous role to that of Marshal Mcluhan's Media theory.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.169
In these days, space design is evolving to the mixed reality space where fused on-line and off-line. But, standard and measure of mixed reality space has not been suggested and there has been little research about media environment and expression method as a mixed system either. That's why here I suggest four media environments and their characteristics that act not only as a critical point in the mixed reality space based on ubiquitous technology but also as a standard for spatial discerning. 1) Real space that is a media environment only seen by human visual and tactical sense is evolving using expression methods like new materials based on digital technology and LED. 2) Augmented reality space is a media environment using information instruments is expressed with diverse 2D and 3D contents. 3) Cyber Space is a environment depends totally on media instruments is produced by perfect graphic information without any spatial and physical limitations. 4) Augmented cyber space is realized only through the displays in cyber studio and is a space where real objects and graphic information are mixed. Depending on the purpose of the experience, media environment and expressional characteristics of mixed reality space can be fused, blended, and mixed, and that can be realized to the intelligent information space where one can experience without spatial, visual, informational limitations. In the future, studies on physical characteristics of contents according to the media environment characteristics are necessary.

Hanryu phenomenon, referring to the fad for "all things South Korean" from the late 1990s, gave us an opportunities to realize the value of contents and the potential in business. As the government established promotion center to boost the contents industry, the number of departments on contents in colleges increased rapidly despite short history. This time provided a great background for the development of contents industry and training students. Specifically, the training courses in colleges for the students who major in contents has been the solid foundation of the excellent results in contents industries such as game, drama, film, animation and character. As the development and production of contents have been proceeded mostly in Seoul metropolitan area. If local promotion centers and colleges cooperate with each other for training students in this field, a successful business model will be established in local community with the help of local government and businesses. The objective of this study is to make an investigation into the promotion centers and the colleges that have departments on contents in Gyeongsangnamdo and Jeollanamdo, far from Seoul metropolitan area. This study may help to make suggestions for the next study through the investigation of promotion centers and colleges related to "Contents" in Gyeongsangnamdo and Jeollanamdo including cities under the direct control of the government.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 235~242
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.235
The purpose of this study was to evaluate tooth whitening and microhardness after treatments with tooth bleaching agents containing dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) and 35% hydrogen peroxide (HP) which were used in-office bleaching. Thirty enamel specimens were obtained from human premolars and randomly divided into 3 groups(n=10). Tooth bleaching agents were prepared with DCPD (0 g for controls, 0.1 g and 1 g for experimental groups) and HP solution (35% HP). All groups were applied to enamel surfaces for 60 min for 1 day. The pH of each tooth bleaching agent was measured. Tooth color, microhardness of enamel surfaces were also measured. The tooth bleaching agents containing DCPD showed a significant increase in pH compared to the ones without DCPD(p<0.05). Paired t-tests showed significant difference in color values of enamel before and after bleaching in all the groups(p<0.05). As a result, changes in color, containing DCPD group does not contain a statistically significant difference between groups was observed.(p>0.05). In all groups, tooth hardness after bleaching showed a significant decrease in microhardness (p<0.05). However, the DCPD concentration increased in the bleaching, microhardness values slightly decreased. Based on the above results, tooth bleaching agents containing DCPD and 35%HP were equally effective. Due to increases in pH and effective reduction of tooth surface decalcification, the surface characteristics are exposed to a reduced degree of negative effects, resulting in fewer constituent enamel alterations. Thus, commercial availability of the constituents of tooth whitening materials can be achieved.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 11, 2010, Pages 403~413
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.403
The purpose of this study is to summarize study trend and achievements of recreation specialization, introduced to Korea in 1996 and recently started to be discussed a lot, and to state the problems and future development. Data related to recreation specialization were collected by using the database of KISS and RISS and 34 studies were utilized for the analysis. The studies were classified into six types; type I-introduction and proposal, type T-study tendency of recreation specialization in foreign countries, type U-quantitative studies using uni-dimensional approach to recreation specialization, type M-quantitative studies using multi-dimensional approach to recreation specialization, type Q-qualitative studies, and type S-variable relations using SEM. One of the problems found in the studies is that recreation specialization is still analyzed by using uni-dimensional approach to recreation specialization. Second, measures directly translated from foreign studies need to be verified the validity. In addition, domestic studies tend to simply follow foreign studies. Lastly, the studies lack variety(diversity) of research methods and researchers. The authors of this study argue that researchers must develop measures appropriate to Korean culture and diversify the research subjects and study methods.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.11.446
To investigate the vortex induced vibrations the 2-d.o.f. spring mounted circular cylinder was tested in the wind tunnel. The circular cylinder was designed to have the translational and the rotational mode uncoupled to each other. During the wind tunnel tests the resonance behaviors of the translational and the rotational modes by the locking-on phenomena were observed. From the locking-on phenomena observed it is shown that the vortex shedding is correlated with the responses of the structures. And the forces generated by the vortex shedding are influenced by the amplitudes and the frequencies of the cylinders.
