The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.001
This paper introduces a difference between mobile Augmented Reality (AR) authoring and desktop AR authoring, and suggests an interface system that can be applied to in-situ authoring of AR contents on a mobile device. The mobile devices have enabled users to use the AR system anytime and anywhere. It is now necessary to create user's individualized context information using mobile devices on the spot. To author AR contents easily with mobile devices, we need to maximize the convenience of mobile systems, which have yet limitation. To do so, this paper suggests new interaction approaches that manage augmented contents using visual cues and other simple attribute settings. In addition, to solve the problem that users have to hold their mobile devices to track markers while authoring contents, this system enables users to author contents in environment based on captured images. This interface system also can make cooperation environment for more than one users to author contents. This paper verifies the usefulness of the proposed interface by user tests. The results of an analyzing users' comments show that the proposed interface is suitable for in-situ mobile authoring system.
Multiple Homographies Estimation using a Guided Sequential RANSAC
Park, Yong-Hee ; Kwon, Oh-Seok ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 10~22
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.010
This study proposes a new method of multiple homographies estimation between two images. With a large proportion of outliers, RANSAC is a general and very successful robust parameter estimator. However it is limited by the assumption that a single model acounts for all of the data inliers. Therefore, it has been suggested to sequentially apply RANSAC to estimate multiple 2D projective transformations. In this case, because outliers stay in the correspondence data set through the estimation process sequentially, it tends to progress slowly for all models. And, it is difficult to parallelize the sequential process due to the estimation order by the number of inliers for each model. We introduce a guided sequential RANSAC algorithm, using the local model instances that have been obtained from RANSAC procedure, which is able to reduce the number of random samples and deal simultaneously with multiple models.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.023
It is important for the strategy of cosmetic sales to investigate the sensibility and the preference degree in the environment that the makeup style has been changed focusing on the consumer center. We proposed the human sensibility ergonomics makeup recommendation system (MakeupRS) using the context sensor information applying the collaborative filtering technique as one of methods in the makeup style development centered on the consumer's sensibility and the preference. In the collaborative filtering technique, the Pearson correlation coefficient applying to the case amplification is used to calculate similarity weights between the users. To investigate the sensibility according to the effect of makeup styles, the makeup styles were analyzed in terms of 6 style factors, such as, the foundation, the color lens, the eye shadow, the eye lash, the cheek brusher, and the lipstick. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity with the human sensibility ergonomics makeup recommendation system.
Improvement of Environmental Sounds Recognition by Post Processing
Park, Jun-Qyu ; Baek, Seong-Joon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 31~39
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.031
In this study, we prepared the real environmental sound data sets arising from people's movement comprising 9 different environment types. The environmental sounds are pre-processed with pre-emphasis and Hamming window, then go into the classification experiments with the extracted features using MFCC (Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients). The GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model) classifier without post processing tends to yield abruptly changing classification results since it does not consider the results of the neighboring frames. Hence we proposed the post processing methods which suppress abruptly changing classification results by taking the probability or the rank of the neighboring frames into account. According to the experimental results, the method using the probability of neighboring frames improve the recognition performance by more than 10% when compared with the method without post processing.

While the broadband network and multimedia technologies have been developing, the commercial market of digital contents also has been widely spreading with recently starting IPTV. As the IPTV services are getting to be generalized and popularized, the contents illicit copying and distribution of copyright meterials tends to draw more attentions. So we need a right service system that can protect contents and copyright using watermark inserting. Until now, the conventional protection and authentication system is taking advantages of merits both in CAS and DRM. But this system can not protect the contents when acquiring them from TV output using A/D convertor. So we apply watermark method using HSI color space against contents illicit copying. And for distribution of copyright materials. we compound unique settop ID and copyrighter's ID to make new ID that is watermark. When inserting watermark, we use the watermark for copyright protection and authentication. So we can protect copyright and identify last settop's user in illicit distribution. we design download based IPTV contents protection and authentication system using HSI watermark method.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.070
Due to the resource limitations of sensor nodes, providing a security protocol is a particular challenge in sensor networks. One popular method is the neighborhood-based key agreement protocol (NEKAP). NEKAP is an efficient and lightweight protocol, but it includes loopholes through which adversaries may launch replay attacks by successfully masquerading as legitimate nodes. In this paper, we present a modified security protocol for wireless sensor networks. We provide four types of keys for each node, which adapt to different security requirements; and an improvement is made to alleviate the replay attack. According to our qualitative performance analyses, the proposed security protocol provides effectiveness in terms of authentication security, attacking node detection, and replay attack resilience when compared to the conventional method.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 107~114
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.107
Color is a sense signal for human to perceive being through light, and the color is divided into chromatic color and achromatic color. Chromatic color has hue, intensity, and saturation, but achromatic color has only intensity among the properties of chromatic color and doesn't have hue and saturation. Therefore it is important to split colors of image into area for human to perceive colors and not to perceive ones based on vision of human being. In this paper, we find a function to split colors of image into chromatic region of chromatic color region and achromatic region of achromatic color region. First, the input image of RGB color space is converted into the image of HSI color space in consideration of human vision and get a binary image from the converted image. After then, a function to split colors into ROC(ROC: Region of chromatic.) and ROA(ROA:Region of achromatic) is yield. It is difficult to split color of a general image into ROC and ROA. Therefore, to get the chromatic area and achromatic area, we make gradient images to have all range of intensity and range of saturation and to have a little range of hue and yield the function. The evaluation is tested using subjective-quality by 50 non-experts for result images of test images and general images. The results of the proposed method get better 27.5~32.96% than these of the conventional method

It always must guarantee preceding process of the transaction with the higher priority in real-time database systems. The pessimistic concurrency control method resolves a conflict through aborting or blocking of a low priority transaction. However, if a high priority transaction is eliminated in a system because of its deadline missing, an unnecessary aborting or blocking of a low priority transaction is occurred. In this paper, the proposed method eliminates a transaction that is about to miss its deadline. And it prevents needless wastes of resources and eliminates unnecessary aborting or blocking of a low priority transaction. It is shown through the performance evaluation that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods in terms of the deadline missing ratio of transactions.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 122~132
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.122
As a result of a growing demand for various mobile devices, the demand for application programs on the devices is on the rise. The Java language that is platform-independent rapidly rose as the best programming language for mobile devices. However, the Java has a problem that does not support platform-dependent features needed by the application. To solve this problem, the JNI technology was introduced by Sun Microsystems. Programmers using the JNI to write native methods need to have a lot of knowledge about the JNI and the internal structure of the JVM. Also, the increased load by using a number of JNI functions may decrease software productivity and quality. Demands for tools writing native method without understanding of JNI are progressively increasing. To develop these tools, it is necessary to translate automatically the differences between Java and C/C++. In this study, I suggested a way to overcome differences between both languages and developed JNI editor that is an integrated develope environment on the basis of this.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.142
In the society where contradiction of modernism in 20th century was vividly exposed and paradigm was being changed from text culture into visual culture according to the development of technology, Benjamin tried to practically suggest solutions for socio-historical problems he was facing. In contrast with Adorno who criticized cultural industry, Benjamin found out the possibility to overturn existing value order and innovate reality in mass art media having emerged according to the development of new technology. And such Utopian possibility appears in his thought on the early Disney animation even if it is fragmentary. This thesis reviews how Utopian possibility was realized in the early Disney animation, which had been thought by Benjamin.

Lee, Doh-Soo ; Kim, Jun-Kyo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 10, issue 7, 2010, Pages 159~168
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.159
Due to the trend of shift to digitalization of the storyboard in 1990's, many a number of storyboard related softwares were born. With this change of trends, however, there was an undeniable lack of tangible data showing the advantage of such digitalization of the storyboard using software technology over conventional methods of doing the same job. In this study, therefore, we have selected the top five storyboard software suits in terms of their frequency in use and a sample group of 85 people to give an analysis on their usability. The result of this analysis revealed two underlying tendencies regarding this issue. Firstly, all of the five softwares selected lacked interactive presentational features, suggesting the directives for the next phase of software development. Secondly, our experiments in this study showed that the most prominent benefit of using the softwares is the higher efficacy in delivering necessary information through real-time based replays, rather than the digitalization of the contents themselves. We expect that the findings of our study would serve as a new model for future software enhancement for the developers. And for the users of such softwares, too, the findings of this study is expected to help them understand what kind of benefits they can expect as they use these storyboard softwares.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.169
This paper has conducted a theoretical re-inquiry on Gilles Deleuze' thought about Alfred Hitchcock' film based on the image of thought in relation with the concept and theory about film. So, the purpose of this article is to explore that film can acquire the academic significance as a philosophy including an academic denomination of social science and Arts. According to the findings, Gilles Deleuze appeared that A. Hitchcock used the mental-image which can transform the perception-image, the action-image, and the affection-image in film and make the relation including the way which it is developed between character and event. Also, as the mental-image can change the meaning of film, camera is the essence and mental referent. And the mental-image makes the other images a specific frame, permeates into image and transforms it. This paper sets limits to some problems that Deleuze's thought about film generalizes to filmic theory, but has a importance to inquiry new research as a theoretical introspection for the practical discussion about the relation between film and philosophy.

This study compares the national telecom commercials during the World Cup in order to investigate the communication effects of sponsorship and ambush advertising. It conducts KTF and SKT advertising in 2006 as empirical study for exploring the communication effect. As a result, empirical study says that there is no difference between sponsorship and ambush advertising in terms of attitude toward advertising, and ambush advertising results in higher attitude toward brands than sponsorship ads. The significant difference is not found in free recall, the higher rate of miscognition occurs in ambush advertising. Thus, this study confirm the significant implication that sponsorship advertising and ambush advertising should be conducted under the long-term and consistent communication strategies. This means that corporate communication strategies through sports events should be carried out centering around the campaign. It is expected that the findings of this study contribute to develop the sponsorship theory and provide practical implications on campaign strategy to advertising specialists.

Companies have been difficult to capture the minds of consumers by staying in the sales phase in order to sell products. The marketing and brand management strategies of more understanding consumers and systematically managing for the perception of them are becoming important. Since launched, EXR has implemented a systematic brand management process from its early stage. Based on the idea of 'brand asset by customer' by Kevin Lane Keller that the total of consumer brand knowledge ultimately completes the company brand power, 'brand asset', to satisfy areas of 'functionality' and 'design', EXR pioneered its ultimate brand asset which is 'CAPORTS' and established its own identity called, 'PROGRESSIVE'. For the success of a brand management, there must be a clear vision supported by the determination of a specific brand identity. Also, it needs to be shared by members of the organization, and to maintain and manage it in the long run, an integrated management strategy is essential. On the basis of such identity, EXR was able to carry out the integrated management for its brand and the overall implementation of the marketing strategy. Therefore, In this study, we seek for a sustainable brand management strategy of fashion brand by looking into the process of the EXR's brand establishment.

To evaluate an effect of liver damage on ethanol and xylene exposure, experiments on normal male rats of the S-D strain were performed in 4 groups. The biochemical results suggest that the ethanol group had significantly higher levels of AST, ALT, LDH and also, the xylene group had notably higher levels of AST, ALT, LDH along with MMHPA than those of the control groups. The levels of AST, ALT and LDH in the ethanol+xylene group were drastically higher than those in the control, ethanol and xylene groups. But, there were significantly lower ALP levels in the xylene and ethanol+xylene groups than both the control and ethanol groups. The histological features of rat livers treated with alcohol, or xylene proved to be normal. But the rat livers treated with ethanol+xylene showed mild to moderate necrosis and inflammation as well as minimal fatty changes. The results in this experiment suggest that liver functions decreased when medicated together with xylene and ethanol rather than solely with xylene.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.297
As Small Intestine Absorptive Epithelium Cells are surrounded by mucus polysaccharide and lymphocytes and mitochondria, they are sensitive to radiation energy. Damaged cells lead to a deficiency of nutrients and the imbalance of electrolyte metabolism, which in turn can becomes a major cause of an intestine tract death. This research observed ultra structures after injecting propolis into the abdominal cavity in order to reveal the radiation damage mechanism and radioprotection effect of intestine absorptive epithelium cells. The result of this research's observation found that stenosis occurred in the small intestine in some tissues 20 days after 5Gy irradiation, their surface turned black, and their elasticity dropped. Through observation with an optical microscope, it was found that the size of the goblet cells decreased, while the paneth granulate cells atrophied and were vacuolated. Observation with an transmission electron microscope(TEM) revealed that while microvill and lysosome were normally observed in jejunum tissues, mitochondria membrane was damaged and uneven surfaces were formed on lymphocytes. The membrane of absorptive epithelium cells hypertrophied in tissues of the ileum, and vacuole was observed. However, the observation after injecting propolis into the abdominal cavity found that mitochondria damage dropped dramatically, and radioprotection effects were to some extent confirmed, considering that glycocalyx of villi was clear, and M cells could be observed.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2010.10.7.420
The advancement of the Science for complex systems enables the analysis of many social networks. We constructed and analyzed a Korean movie star network as one of social networks, based on the 100 Korean movie selection for a main data source. Until now, the research trend has been the structural analysis of network, focused on link numbers, such as degree, betweenness and clustering coefficient. But it is time that the research is not limited by the structural analysis of networks only. Rather, the research goal should be aimed to an information analysis, performed by identifying and analyzing central modules that are regarded as the core of complex networks, using k-core analysis method. In this research, we constructed a network of movie stars who have appeared in 100 Korean movie selection, provided by Korean movie database, also we analyzed its core modules with and without weights, and the trend of seasonal expansion of the network. We expect our findings can be used as the basic data applicable to a model for understanding of the expansion and evolution of networks.

Although e-Learning contents contain audio materials as well as visual materials, research on the design of audio materials has been focused on visual design. If it is considered that non-speech sounds which are a type of audio materials can promptly provide feedbacks of learners' responses and guide learners' learning process, the systemic design of non-speech sounds is needed. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the learners' perceptions toward non-speech sounds contained the e-Learning contents with multidimensional scaling method. For this purpose, the eleven non-speech sounds were selected among non-speech sounds designed Korea Open Courseware. The 66 juniors in A university responded the degree of similarity among 11 non-speech sounds and the learners' perceptions towards non-speech sounds were represented in the multidimensional space. The result shows that learners perceive separately non-speech sounds by the length of non-speech sounds and the atmosphere which is positive or negative.
