Chung, Kyung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.001
With the development of next IT convergence technology and the construction of infrastructure for personalized services, the importance of services based on user's sensibility status and vital signal is being spotlighted. It is the most crucial factor for the strategy of sensibility engineering to investigate student's vital signal according to the sensibility. In this paper, we proposed the vital signal monitoring simulation system by the various visual stimulus. The proposed method obtained the student's vital signal by the various visual stimulus. And the power spectrum analysis using the fast fourier transform is evaluated the activity level between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The analyzed result is monitoring the sensibility by displaying the heath signal light. To evaluate the sensibility between the high school's students and the university's students, we conducted SD profile and paired T-tests so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of sensibility activity by positive and negative stimulus was statistically meaningful. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity.
DCT Domain Zero-Watermarking based on CRT
Kim, Hyoung-Do ; Sohn, Kyu-Seek ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 9~15
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.009
Zero-watermarking is a digital watermarking technique that can escape from data distortion and quality degradation by no watermark insertion into digital images to be watermarked. This paper proposes DCT0CRT, a CRT-based zero-watermarking technique in the domain of DCT. One of the DC and low-frequency AC coefficients of each DCT block chosen in chaotic way from an image is selected by testing whether it satisfies the CRT-based condition matching with the watermark bit to be embedded. Such selection information forms a key to extract the watermark from the watermarked image. Experimental results show that the image quality watermarked by DCT0CRT is better than that watermarked by any other CRT-based watermarking techniques and the inserted watermark is robust against some common attacks such as sharpening, blurring, and JPEG lossy compression.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.016
Some context is characterized by a single event in computing environment, but many other contexts are determined by a lot of things which occur with a space and a time. The Realtime Embedded System context-awareness service that interacts with the physical space can have property such as time. The exceptional behaviors of the system that interact with physical space can result in critical damage and cause danger to the operation of an embedded system. we propose an approach which should include spatio-temporal property and exceptional management in the context model, and verify its effectiveness using an expanded Petri-Net. The context-awareness service modeling of an embedded system is discussed the properties of model such as basic Petri-Net, patterned Petri-Net, or Spatio-temporal Petri-Net for the exceptional behaviors of the system. The proposed methodology demonstrated using an example that is emergency medical service. The use of expanded Petri-Net will contribute not only to develop the application but also to model the spatio-temporal context awareness for the exceptional handling.

Jang, Yong-Jin ; Lee, Jin-Ju ; Park, Jun-Ho ; Seong, Dong-Ook ; Yoo, Jae-Soo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 26~33
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.026
In ubiquitous environments that numerous mobile objects exist, the location-based services have risen as an important application field. For efficient location-based services, various techniques with broadcast schemes have been studied. However, they were mainly concerned with the implementation of a broadcast index and did not consider techniques for reducing the size of the entire broadcast data. Therefore, this paper proposes a data distribution broadcast scheme based on sensor networks that considers the mobile patterns of an object in road network environments. In this paper we also propose a road network based sensor clustering technique for the efficiency of the proposed distributed broadcast scheme. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing broadcast scheme in various environments.
Handover Scheme between WiFi and Mobile WiMax
Park, Seung-Kyun ;

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.034
At present wireless internet access service is available through the 3G network, mobile WiMAX and WiFi anytime and anywhere. In this environment where there are various networks, users should be able to select specific networks depending on different situations. And it is necessary to provide mobility support between homogeneous and between heterogenous networks. Given this situation, the many proposals have been presented to link 3G, which has the largest service area among various networks, with mobile WiMAX(IEEE 802.16e), or with WiFi(IEEE 802.11). But, recently, with the increasing volume of wireless internet use and wireless internet data, due to the advents of net-book, e-book and smart phone, the service area of WiFi and mobile WiMAX has rapidly expanded. Especially, the availability of real-time application such as internet phone has led to the relative shrinking of the proportion of 3G mobile communication network giving conventional voice service, and enlargement of those of wireless internet access networks like WiFi and mobile WiMAX. This paper suggests a handover scheme based on PMIPv6, whitch support mobility between WiFi and mobile WiMAX, and minimizes handover delay. In this scheme, the mobile node has a dual stack structure composed of two interfaces-WiFi and mobile WiMAX. Since WiFi dose not support mobility, it is suggested that the mobile node have the capacity to deal with handover signaling between gateway in case of handover between homogeneous networks. This handover scheme, suggested comparing with current handovers between homogeneous networks, has proved, in its analytic evaluation, to be able to reduce handover, transmission, and signaling overhead.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.042
Proxy signature schemes are configured as proxy signers on behalf of their original signers can be allowed to sign messages. Basic security requirements of proxy signature schemes include the strong unforgeability and the verifiability of delegation. So far, a variety of proxy signature schemes that proved on individual basic security terms but not proved on compounded security terms are proposed. Especially the proposed proxy signature schemes based on RSA problem are proved vulnerable to an attacker with his own private key in terms of the impersonating attack. A unauthorized attacker can generate the proxy signature without the appointee's consent or authorization. In this paper, we propose a proxy signature scheme based on RSA problems and warrants that can be proved the security against the impersonating attack. The proposed proxy signature scheme is analyzed on the safety and compared in terms of efficiency with other proxy signature schemes.

Seo, Bok-Il ; Kim, Jae-In ; Hwang, Bu-Hyun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 56~64
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.056
It is difficult to discover frequent itemsets based on whole data from data stream since data stream has the characteristics of infinity and continuity. Therefore, a specialized data mining method, which reflects the properties of data and the requirement of users, is required. In this paper, we propose the method of FIMWB discovering the frequent itemsets which are reflecting the property that the recent events are more important than old events. Data stream is splitted into batches according to the given time interval. Our method gives a weighted value to each batch. It reflects user's interestedness for recent events. FP-Digraph discovers the frequent itemsets by using the result of FIMWB. Experimental result shows that FIMWB can reduce the generation of useless items and FP-Digraph method shows that it is suitable for real-time environment in comparison to a method based on a tree(FP-Tree).

Lee, Bong-Hee ; Choi, Young-Bok ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 65~71
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.065
In this paper, the RFID / USN-based ad-hoc network structure is presented for efficient operation of a container terminal yard. Communication between fixed or mobile devices in the container terminal yard is accomplished through the ad-hoc node, to collect the status information of a container in real time. Any outside shipper of the container as well as central server allows to share the status information of a container through ad-hoc communication. In addition, to predict the maximum wireless transmission range of nodes by RFID tag position in the yard, LAODV (Location based AODV) routing protocol is proposed. The validity is proved by performance evaluation via computer simulation.
Visual Agenda-Setting Effect of Television News -Mainly on Environmental News-
Park, Dug-Chun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 72~82
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.072
This is an experimental research with the theoretical background of agenda setting effect and elaboration likelihood model studying 'whether visual cues such as imagery and subtitle of TV environmental news have effect on the viewers' perception?', 'whether visual cues such as imagery and subtitle of TV environmental news have differential effect on the viewers' perception, depending on the viewers' involvement in the environmental issue?'. This experimental research found that the more highly exposed subjects considers environment issue more important than the less exposed, during the process, visual cues such as imagery and subtitle in TV news have an effect on agenda setting. Futhermore visual cues such as imagery and subtitle have stronger effect on the perception of the less involved than that of the more highly involved as a unified peripheral cue. However the effect of environmental involvement as independent peripheral cue couldn't have meaningful statistical support. Despite the fact that many previous researchers have shown that verbal cues of TV news have effect on the perception of viewers, little attempt has been made to investigate effect of visual cues on the TV viewers' perception. Therefore, this research has an important implication as an early proof in a new stream of visual agenda setting and elaboration research.

However, in order to create a stereoscopic 3D image, independently, it is required to spend expensive manufacturing costs and to have special techniques. As 3D display devices have been generalized, there is an increasing need for implementing a stereoscopic 3D image without a burden of expensive costs. This paper proposes some methods to implement stereoscopic 3D images easily by utilizing a marker tracking technology using a single camera. In addition, the study made it possible for the resolution of an image to be adjustable dynamically. This paper will be committed to the promotion of the field of UCC (User Created Contents) using stereoscopic 3D images by attracting the active participation of general users in the field of the implementation of stereoscopic 3D images.
Representation of Child Sexual Abuse in TV Documentary -Focused on KBS 'Current Topics Ssam'-
Hong, Sook-Yeong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 102~112
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.102
The purpose of the study was to analyze narrative structure and spoken contents of two TV documentaries televised in KBS 1TV 'Current Topics Ssam' to examine how child sexual abuse was represented on TV. As a result, the study could see that child sexual abuse attackers were stressed by a system to monitor and punish them and TV documentary took a neutral attitude between their human rights and pain of the victims. And it emphasizes 'abnormal' sides such as attackers' drinking or history of mental illness, and men's social authority individualizes a woman's damage into private pain by imposing a light punishment on child sexual abuse attackers and letting them not punished. Child sexual abuse victims treated to be a sexual object as a 'small, easy and weak' woman are represented as a lethargic human who is afraid of revenge and lives in pain. The representation of child sexual abuse through 'Current Topics Ssam' has its limit in the fact that it neglected understanding social context of child sexual abuse by forming an event-centered immediate and fragmentary narration and didn't play a right role in making an efficient and long-term plan considering actual conditions of Korean society and leading the people's participation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 134~144
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.134
Crossmedia Storytelling is receiving attention as a new style of description in the age of limitless competition and infinite fusion among media. Crossmedia Storytelling specifies a form of storytelling carried out through mixed usage of plural media, such as televisions, movies, and web services. It is different from OSMU strategy in that plays one source of contents according to the characteristics of various media while Crossmedia Storytelling demands users' active participation. Moreover, it is also slightly different from Transmedia Storytelling in the point that narratives of each media are not complete themselves and only through effectively combining plural media can the whole story fully enjoyed. This research aims to analyze how users move among media in terms of Crossmedia contents by examining cases of Swedish interactive drama series
from Australia, and
from the United States. To do so, first, the paper looks into the principles of Crossmedia communication and examines that it is based on online word-of-mouth communication, such as viral marketing. As a result, the following was found in the cases of Crossmedia Storytelling: negative stories that arouse users' emotional reactions & users' participation are effective, and the set-up of Sneezer, which causes the knowledge gap, is very important. It was also found that users' participation was actively taking place through online WOM communication in Crossmedia Storytelling.
Voters' Use Behavior of Information Channels through the Local Elections of June 2
Cha, Young-Ran ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 145~156
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.145
The study is to analyze voting behaviors revealed through the June 2 local elections, and to learn their implications by exploring and comparing the main factors that influence how to recognize and select a candidate. To achieve this, in-depth interviews have been conducted focusing on those who voted in the last election. The analysis shows that most respondents regard their political tendencies as moderate and make decisions on whom to vote for 2 to 3 days prior to election. It also indicates that what party candidates belong to is the highest motivation in deciding for whom to vote and they generally vote as they believe. According to the study, not only do the poll's results hardly affect their choice of candidates, but also the polls turn out significantly different from the actual results. The great gap between the polls and the actual outcome signifies that how to conduct a poll is wrong and people intend to conceal their opinions. While the media has had a decisive effect on the image of candidates, it is through promotional materials for political campaigns that the candidates' policy is recognized. The study also says that the Four-River is the most influential political issue in election. The study identifies voters' behavior specifically and in depth, and suggests some lessons to make use of for the future elections.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.157
Since the movie "Avatar" made world-widely a big success, people's interest to 3D stereoscopic vision has been increasing explosively. However, it is hard to predict that for how long this tremendous attention to 3D stereoscopic would last; consumers have accumulated experience and predominant consciousness from social and cultural environmental various factors. This paper, we will try to see how people interact with 3D stereo through the empirical study. Using Jannett (2009)'s immersion questionnaire, we will measure how different people get immersed while playing game in 3D stereoscopic and 2D.
Creating Theatrical Contents Out of Stage Adaptation of Dongrae-yaru
Lee, Ki-Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 165~175
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.165
The purpose of this research is to investigate the possibility of creating new theatrical contents by performance anthropological approach. Today's traditional performing arts are historically descended and developed in the forms of Ahk, Hee, and Geuk. Among those, Dongrae-yaru is a traditional mask dance, handed down in Dongrae, Pusan and appointed as the 18th intangible cultural asset. Its performance is carried out in the juxtaposition of Ahk, Hee, and Geuk. Korean theatre in the 21st century seems going back to realism after going through post-modern cultural phenomenons. However, the quest for alternative theatre is raised higher than ever. As a part of this strive, this paper asserts the traditional performing arts should be investigated as an alternative and new theatrical form. Among those traditional performing arts, Dongrae-yaru is selected for its well balanced combination of Ahk, Hee, and Geuk. The study examines in depth how each element of Ahk, Hee, and Geuk, they are expressed in forms of folk music, refined dance, jest, satire, wit. Its investigation on the stage adaptation provides the possibility for the new style and codification as the new theatre contents.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.176
This paper is intended on providing solutions for overcoming constraints to the transmission of the Important Intangible Cultural Properties related to dance successors. For accommodating this approach, six career dancers, from the Dance Society of the Important Intangible Cultural Properties, were invited as the research participants for this study. The In-Depth Interviews and the classification analysis are used as a way of structuring and understanding my observations about these tasks. These interviews have also been verified by an expert group. In conclusion, this study identifies numerous obstacles which can restrict the transmission of the Important Intangible Cultural Properties are as follows; first, the dance successors are constrained by personal reasons such as physical strength and mutual understanding at home; second, the dance successors are affected by the structural constraint of programs such as required time for the completion of training, efficiency of the training program and the educational environment; third, the dance successors are constrained by personal relations such as the relationship between themselves, or between the dance successors and holders of Important Intangible Cultural Properties. Suggested solutions for overcoming the constraints to training programs are; building small sized training centers throughout the country; making training time realistic for individuals; and making programs to train the dancers as well as making it sociable.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.184
Cultural heritage is the historic symbol implying the life of people and regionality. Accordingly, the study on cultural heritage along the border between Korea and China is a very critical and urgent task for educational purposes as well as to secure historic and cultural awareness and national identity. The border area between Korea and China is classified into the areas along Aprok River and areas along Tumen River where the cultural heritage of various ethnicities is scattered. Accordingly, this study tried to find the approaches to implement and use the exhibition contents for educational purposes as well as visual applications rather than a literary study on cultural heritage in the border area between Korea and China. The results of this study will be the opportunity to enhance the practical understanding of the modern states as well as to learn the cultural awareness of the territory of a modern state and people's awareness of the importance of world heritages. Furthermore, the results of this study will be used as the resources for historic and cultural tours on the web or applications and help to understand the cultural features of Korea and China in the northeastern region as well as historic awareness in educational programs using exhibition materials in a museum.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 329~339
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.329
This study aims at investigating how English proficiency affects economic development of a country by analyzing the relationships among English proficiency, economic activities (amount of trade, R&D investment, etc), and the rate of economic growth, focusing on twenty-one non-English-speaking OECD countries. Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and Seemingly Unrelated Regression Estimation (SURE) were used for the data analysis in the study. The findings reveals that there existed little statistical significance to support the fact that English proficiency was directly related to the economic development in a positive way in many countries except Mexico, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Poland. However, English proficiency indirectly influenced the economic development in the way of increasing the amount of trade. These results can lead to the conclusion that English proficiency is not a sufficient element but a necessary one. Furthermore, it is expected that English proficiency can positively affect the economic development when it plays a part as sufficient complementary goods which make up for physical capital, technology accumulation, political stability, and worthy government.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 340~349
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.340
This research analyzes the 4P(Police-Press-Politics-Public) model for establish an ideal relationship between press and police and suggests some practical policies. Through the examination of the relations among 4Ps(Police-Press-Politics-Public), Jean-Louis Loubet Del Bayle proposes 3 models from three aspets : exchange of information, relation of power, relation of legitimacy. The analysis of his models shows that politics and public give social and political legitimacy to police and press which, based on the legitimacy, thereby obtain necessary informations from external entities to fulfil their original functions. On the other hand, the inevitable relation of press and police with politics and public caused from their social functions, in turn, makes the relationship between press and police more complicated and delicate. This research concludes, the relationship between police and press should be well balanced for their successful social functions and benefits of the public. To this end, this study suggests that a specific press guideline which is imposed on press and police, must be prepared and that a specialized press office must be established in the police.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 357~370
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.357
Using strategy group theory, this thesis reviewed the status of program providers analysis and the performances it has made so far, and sought measures to improve its limitations. The constraint of program providers analysis based on existing concept of strategy group is that the strategy group was derived from the statistics, and therefore only applied the characteristics of program provider's channels to the analysis, on account of which a systematic and sophisticated classification as well as generalization of strategy or strategy group were hard to obtain. Moreover, the PP strategy variables used to be selected at the firm level and business level, and in relation with resource and competition scope. In future, more appropriate procedure should be followed to obtain objectivity in selecting variables to avoid controversy over intentionality. The measures in this thesis to improve the study of PP strategy group can be summarized as follows: firstly analysis of variables for strategy group classification should be made to single out key variables which are to be classification criteria. Secondly, variables are to be cross-checked by industry experts to increase generalizability. Thirdly, proxy variables should be sublated, and strategy group model which enables the reflection of subsistent properties of PP industry, and the cognitive perception of the executives(CEO) needs to be established. Fourthly, the concepts of mobility barrier and isolating mechanism should be applied to the classification criteria of strategy group to reveal the gap of performance between different strategy groups. Lastly, chronicle study on PP strategy group should be done to perceive the dynamic changes of PP strategy group.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 404~410
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.404
For the simulation of one-dimensional unsteady flow, the Taylor-Galerkin finite element method was adopted to the discretization of the Saint Venant equation. The model was applied to the backwater problem in a single channel and the flood routing in dendritic channel networks. The numerical solutions were compared with previously published results of finite difference and finite element methods and good agreement was observed. The model solves the continuity and the momentum equations in a sequential manner and this leads to easy implementation. Since the final system of matrix is tri-diagonal with a few additional entry due to channel junctions, the tri-diagonal matrix solution algorithm can be used with minor modification. So it is fast and economical in terms of memory for storing matrices.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 1, 2011, Pages 422~428
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.1.422
This paper presents results from the theoretical analysis of the lateral load distribution for a railway bridge designed with PSC girders which is one of most popular types of bridge in Korea. Typically, 3 sets of intermediate cross beams within a span have been installed for lateral load distribution. In this paper, the effect on the lateral load distribution by the number of intermediate cross beams were examined by both simple grillage analysis and finite element method. This study showed that at least, one set of cross beams at midspan should be needed to ensure the proper load distribution. However, the effect of cross beams on the load distribution becomes not significant though more than one set of cross beams are installed. Therefore, only one set of cross beans at midspan is recommended for constructibility and economic efficiency.

Movie network as a social network shows power-law distribution that is one of distinct properties in scale-free network. We constructed movie network from 799 Korea movies that screened from 2000 to 2009 and analyzed structural properties of the network. The 799 movies was classified three groups as a spectator mobilizing power. One million spectators mobilizing power movie was denoted the first class. The best 10 movie directors who produced at least three movies for ten years and had 70% the first class movie of them were selected. We also preferred the best 20 movie actors who played at least five movies for ten years and had 70% the first class movie of them. We re-constructed core movie network that composed the best 10 directors, the best 20 movie stars, and 157 movies that were produced by the directors or were played by the movie stars. We predict a possible combination of the director and movie actor as a category of the movie that has highly spectator mobilizing power. Here, we provide insight and method for producing high spectators mobilizing power movies
