DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.010
Medical asset protection is important in each medical institution especially because of the law on private medical record protection and face recognition for this protection is one of the most interesting and challenging problems. In recognizing human faces, the distortion of face images can be caused by the change of pose, illumination, expressions and scale. It is difficult to recognize faces due to the locations of lights and the directions of lights. In order to overcome those problems, this paper presents an analysis of coefficients of Gabor wavelets, kernel decision, feature point, size of kernel, for face recognition in CCTV surveillance. The proposed method consists of analyses. The first analysis is to select of the kernel from images, the second is an coefficient analysis for kernel sizes and the last is the measure of changes in garbo kernel sizes according to the change of image sizes. Face recognitions are processed using the coefficients of experiment results and success rate is 97.3%. Ultimately, this paper suggests empirical application to verify the adequacy and the validity with the proposed method. Accordingly, the satisfaction and the quality of services will be improved in the face recognition area.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 19~27
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.019
In this paper, we present an emulation library for the essential features and their API function calls provided by Direct3D, the most actively used API for computer game-related application programs on the MS-Windows-based desktop's, with OpenGL library in the Linux environment. In typical Linux-based systems, only the X window system and OpenGL graphics library are available. There are lots of needs for this kind of emulation library to convert the Direct3D-based game applications and user interfaces on these systems. Through carefully selecting the essential API functions from the DirectX version 9.0, we obtained the prototype implementation of that emulation library, to finally get the final full-scale DirectX implementation. Our implementation currently covers 3D coordinate transformations, light and material processing, texture mapping, simple animation features and more. We showed its feasibility through successfully executing a set of Direct3D demonstration programs including a real-world game character animation on our implementation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 34~41
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.034
The MAC of IEEE 802.11 WLAN to control data transmission uses two control methods called DCF and PCF. The DCF uses BEB backoff algorithm based on CSMA/CA. The BEB backoff algorithm shows excellent performance relatively in situation that competition between stations is less, but its performance is decreases as the competition increases. This paper proposes and analyses mathematically an enhanced backoff algorithm. To reduce the collision probability, the proposed algorithm increases the contention window to maximum after collision and decreases the contention window smoothly after successful transmission. To prove efficiency of proposed algorithm, simulations are conducted and analyzed.

In recent, library is considered as an integrated knowledge convergence center that can respond to various requests about information service of users. Therefor it is necessary to establish a novel information system based on information communications technologies of the era. In other words, it is currently required to develop mobile information service available in portable devices such as smart phones or tablet PCs, and to establish information system reflecting cloud computing, SaaS, Annotation, and Library 2.0 etc. In this paper we design and implement a library information system using collective intelligence and cloud computing. This information system can be adapted for the varieties of mobile service paradigm and abruptly increasing amount of electronic materials. Advantages of this concept model are resource sharing, multi-tenant supporting, configuration, and meta-data supporting etc. In addition it can offer software on-demand type user services. In order to test the performance of our system, we perform an effectiveness analysis and TTA authentication test. The average response time corresponding to variance of data reveals 0.692 seconds which is very good performance in timing effectiveness point of view. And we detect maturity level-3 or 4 authentication in TTA tests such as SaaS maturity, performance, and application programs.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 102~110
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.102
This study is to reveal the meaning of the interaction between a player and a game with the approach of an operational interaction such as joystick and keyboard, and also a representational interaction that the player takes during the game. It has been usually recognized that cut-scene in existing games is just limited to the role of opening scene that delivers mainly a background story of the game, and has the only passive function that serves additionally the expression of the state of the player or the replay of the results of the player's action. But in the aspect of game-direction, the study of the player's action about the interaction movie of 'Uncharted2', for example, one of the most representative video games, shows the possible classification of interaction movie along with three functions(situation direction, induced selective-action, information transfer). As a result, it is judged that interaction movie is not an additional element for the game-play, but rather takes the function of as an interface. The effective application of interaction movie could help a smooth connection between the recognizability from the view point of the player and the playing from the main character's viewpoint, ultimately leading to a direct means to maximize the delivery of the story.
Analysis of Film 〈Obaltan〉 focused on Narratology's Viewpoint
Kim, Jong-Wan ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 111~119
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.111
Movie research in the 1980's structuralism looks tendency to escape director or text research and analyze spectator or inspection action. These post-structuralist divert interest by analytic convention of spectators in analysis by director's intention or text type correctly. There is the age that spectator, inspectional action and inspectional subject weighs more than director, work and text itself. But, inspection of movie can be person's enemy by director's narrative strategy or spectator's analytic quality that depend on a text and spectator and their interaction usually, and only method to acquire universality chooses full analytic discourse to principle. We should be structured by symbol system that the event is consisted of movie language to reappear the event through narrative in movie and this symbol system, director's narrative strategy can cause fixed esthetic distance between spectator. Researches to analyze this distance need to keep universal validity as much as being accepted by effort to gap with director and spectator. Therefore, narrative poetry that I analyze movie narration style by 'narrated' and unit of 'narrating' and study the form and function so-called, is going to follow narratology's access method. The consistent argument of this narrative poetry is that story is consisted of the events and these observe to structured thing by unit that is sequence through arrangement with the other event that adjoin in the event. Also, director need consensus with spectator to reappear connection of this event logically and it is thing which this reappearance form can be done characteristic by narrative strategy in directing. I am going to try narrative structure analysis of movie
by narrative that is connected at structure of the event and 'narrating-narrative acts' that is interested in way to reappear this story to spectator hereupon. Of course, at process of research, Roland Barthes and his followers wish to apply 'narrative function' and concept of 'narrative acts' that prefer from time to time.

This research aims to investigate the representative affective words and the structure among them to scrutinize user's affect revealed in the ride film based on three dimension stereoscopic image. Previous studies related to the affect were reviewed and the affect words well-suited for three dimension stereoscopic image were collected. Suitability test for two hundred six basic affect words gathered as the result was done from sixty two typical users and four experts. Seventy seven candidate affect words have been selected and by the exclusion of similarity among them, finally twenty six words were extracted from the reduction process. Consequently fifteen representative words and the structure as the network between each word were revealed by using free association test based on twenty six affect words. We propose the affect research including sensors, emotions, and affects related to moving image rather than still mage during doing research affects in most of the previous studies. The future work includes the affect space and the affect effect for ride film based on three dimension stereoscopic image. This study can be adopted practically in the production of ride films and provided with a basic design guideline.

Eo, Il-Seon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 130~136
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.130
This study analyzed and compared Dong-a Il-bo, a new material, based on the result of analysis of movie commercials on Mae-il Shin-bo from the previous study. Although we could not analyze precisely them in regard to their form, there are differences between them in terms of where they show movie commercials and how large their movie commercials are. However, in terms of the content, the characteristics of movies in the 1930s correspond with the result of the study that analyzed Mae-Il Shin-Bo. As Mae-Il Shin-Bo was actually a organ of the Japanese Government-General of Korea, and Dong-A Il-Bo was a representative of private newspapers, our comparative study actually covered almost all materials on the movies of the 1930s, considering repeating movie commercials. Based on the results of this study, we can learn more precisely the characteristics of the movies in the 1930s.

Yim, Jung-Su ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 137~144
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.137
This study explored the risk sharing mechanism in the US TV drama industry. The hollywood system of TV production and distribution can be understood to be the result of the efforts to reduce the uncertainty and the risk of investment. Since the 1990s, the vertical integration of major studios and networks has been one of the core strategies for risk sharing. In the strategy, the most important role of networks is to schedule new series that the affiliated studios produce. Networks also provide the new series their brand value. On the other hand, the most important role of studios in the vertical integrated environment is to provide the affiliated networks the infrastructures for production and distribution, financial management, and product management. In addition, networks keep the right on the series in the secondary markets, and attempt to increase the aggressive investment on new series on the base of the rights. However, such a risky investment can be the potential burden and risk for the networks in the future. This paper shows the importance of the reasonable risk sharing in the television drama industry to the Korean TV drama industry that has experienced the conflict between networks and independent production companies.

Kang, Moon-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 156~172
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.156
The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of conflict management by local government by explaining a peculiar case of Namyangju city's construction project of landfill site for incineration remnants. Policy stage and internal dynamics of conflict between city and opposition group of local residents are used as major tools of case observation. From this analysis, this study finds that the conflict management effort of local government is critical to bring a success of a public policy. The local government needs to assess possible sources of conflict, and to prepare reasonable solutions through sincere communication with local residents. Also we need to reconsider the concept of administrative efficiency. Sometimes "slow" is better than "fast". Authoritative and hasty policy process may face unexpected obstacles, then consume more time to fulfill the policy goals. It means that the local government needs to spend more time for policy formulation. It also shows the importance of democratic process in reaching a public policy decision. In conclusion, this study confirms that the cooperative relationship between local government and residents, so-called governance, is the key to the success of public policy.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 173~184
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.173
This study suggests the invigoration strategies of commercial and business functions for regeneration of old inner city as city center by examining Dangjin County which is a typical example of the local small-and-medium city where old inner city had declined as the city grew. I conducted a conjoint analysis in terms of important introduction functions and city regeneration directions for the invigoration. The results upon this are as follows. First, low-density of commercial and business places and the utilization of historical and cultural resources instead of the high-density mixed-use development should be considered. Second, It is important to promote regional specialized business and facilities rather than to attract new industry(high-tech industry) for activating local economy. Third, specific and practical countermeasures for resettlement of low-incomes and for maintenance of existing business zone should be established. Fourth, in terms of the maintenance and management, regulation on illegal commercial transactions, improvement of public spaces, and securement of user safety should be considered. Fifth, in terms of consolidation of functions, easier accessibility using public transportations, advertising and promotion of the city, and holding a number of events should be contemplated. Sixth, supporting for business activities and for establishing guides for design of old inner city should be needed. Seventh, public institutions should play a role as a bridge between local residences and experts for balanced regional development.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 11, 2011, Pages 185~193
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.11.185
There is no exact standard of detecting pulmonary tuberculosis(TB) in digital image of simple chest radiography. In this study, I experimented on the principal components analysis(PCA) algorithm in the past and suggested six other parameters as identification of TB lesions. The purpose of this study was to develop and test computer aided diagnosis(detection) method for the detection and measurement of pulmonary abnormalities on digital chest radiography. It showed comparatively low recognition diagnosis rate using PCA method, however, six kinds of texture features parameters algorithm showed similar or higher diagnosis rates of pulmonary disease than that of the clinical radiologists. Proposed algorithms using computer-aided of texture analysis can distinguish between areas of abnormality in the chest digital images, differentiate lesions having pulmonary disease. The method could be useful tool for classifying and measuring chest lesions, it would play a major role in radiologist's diagnosis of disease so as to help in pre-reading diagnosis and prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Appreciation of nature and an understanding of the biological sciences by the general public are key to the popularization of modern science. In particular, informal and accessible venues such as museum exhibits occupy a crucial role in science education, and they depend heavily on fields related to macrobiology, including Ecology, Animal Behavior, and Environmental Science. Unfortunately, lack of engaged experts and superficial descriptions of natural phenomena all too often prevent scientific knowledge from being shared effectively with the general public. Raw information itself and knowledge are not in a form or structure accessible to nonspecialists. In order to move successfully deliver substantive comprehension of the biological knowledge to the general public, it is necessary to categorize information from a content-conscious perspective and transform it into useful biological content. Therefore, the role of scientists is critically important in a series of processes that include theme selection, editing, and even graphical layout of contents. These processes require not only a scientific and logical way of thinking, but also an aptitude for artistic presentation and effective communication. The concept of Translation is presented as a theoretical and operational framework for the popularization of science.
