Shin, Dong-Kun ; Chung, Kyung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 1~7
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.001
The methodology of KOSPI forecast has been considered as one of the most difficult problem to develop accurately since short-term KOSPI is correlated with various factors including politics and economics. In this paper, we presents a methodology for forecasting short-term trends of stock price for five days using the feature selection method based on a neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions (NEWFM). The distributed non-overlap area measurement method selects the minimized number of input features by removing the worst input features one by one. A technical indicator are selected for preprocessing KOSPI data in the first step. In the second step, thirty-nine numbers of input features are produced by wavelet transforms. Twelve numbers of input features are selected as the minimized numbers of input features from thirty-nine numbers of input features using the non-overlap area distribution measurement method. The proposed method shows that sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy rates are 72.79%, 74.76%, and 73.84%, respectively.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 18~25
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.018
Salient object attracts more and more attention from researchers due to its important role in many fields of multimedia processing like tracking, segmentation, adaptive compression, and content-base image retrieval. Usually, a saliency map is binarized into black and white map, which is considered as the binary mask of the salient object in the image. Still, the threshold is heuristically chosen or parametrically controlled. This paper suggests using the global optimal threshold to perform saliency map thresholding. This work also considers the usage of multi-level optimal thresholds and the local adaptive thresholds in the experiments. These experimental results show that using global optimal threshold method is better than parametric controlled or local adaptive threshold method.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.033
RFID technology is already used in the various application fields such as identification card, traffic card and etc. Many RFID application systems using UHF have been developed in the field of asset management, logistics and security. Because a human being can make mistakes, we need the system that can efficiently manage the special assets such as small arms, jewelry and medicine and can monitor them in real time. In this paper, we proposed a special assets management system to keep assets in safe custody, to monitor their safety status in real time and to manage distribution channels and history of those assets. The developed system is called Smart Cabinet because it has cabinet's form. Smart Cabinet integrates such technologies as RFID, smart card, fingerprint recognition, several sensors and LCD display in order to provide the functions for special asset management. Those functions include condition monitoring of assets, traceability management, distribution channels and security logs, which are to interact with a management server. The article demonstrated the potentiality of RFID by presenting special asset management solutions dedicated to guns and medicine management, and also showed the effectiveness and possibility of those solutions.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.051
One of the objectives of research on routing methods in wireless sensor networks is maximizing the energy life of sensor nodes that have limited energy. In this study, we tried to even energy use in a wireless sensor network by giving a weight to the transition probability of ACS(Ant Colony System), which is commonly used to find the optimal path, based on the amount of energy in a sensor and the distance of the sensor from the sink. The proposed method showed improvement by 46.80% on the average in energy utility in comparison with representative routing method GPSR (Greedy Perimeter Stateless Routing), and its residual energy after operation for a specific length of time was 6.7% more on the average than that in ACS.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.059
Resource constrained project scheduling problem with multiple resource constraints as well as precedence constraints is well-known as one of the NP-hard problem. Since these problems can't be solved by the deterministic method during reasonable time, the heuristics are generally used for getting a sub-optimal during reasonable time. In this paper, we introduce an efficient genetic algorithm for resource constrained project scheduling problem using crossover which is applying schema theory and real world tournament selection strategy. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional algorithm.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 106~115
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.106
In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of previous shading algorithms in depicting shape of 3d objects. We perform a study in which people are shown an image of one of ten 3D objects shaded with one of eight styles and asked to orient a gauge to coincide with the surface normal at many positions on the object's surface. The normal estimates are compared with each other and with ground truth data provided by a registered 3D surface model to analyze accuracy and precision. Our experiments suggest that people interpret certain shape differently depending on shading of 3d object. This paper offers substantial evidence that current computer graphics shading algorithms can effectively depict shape of 3d objects where the algorithms have the properties of lots of tone steps and uniformly distributed tone steps. This type of analysis can guide the future development of new CG shading algorithms in computer graphics for the purpose of shape perception.

Visual effect production by computer graphics techniques has become more important in these days. However, there are three problems in the domestic contents production environments. First of all, most Korean film companies have insufficient generally potential to maintain and support their R&D (Research and Development) teams. Secondly, they are much dependent on the abroad commercial software tools. Finally, many people have to participate in the image production pipeline, called the labor-intensive pipeline. In producing a demonstration work, "The Sixty -miles-an-hour man", we have evaluated the usefulness of the developed camera tracking and image composition methods and then examined various production consideration elements. In addition, in order to develop a productive technical element and write a competitive film script, mutual understanding between the developers and the production users should be achieved. Also, this paper describes a role of the technical supervisor to direct the production environment in detail.

As the cinematographic works are familiar to us, the infringement of the cinematographic works is also increasing. Because we are always able to be closely accessible to the cinematographic works through the Internet, this phenomenon easily occurs across the genre of the cinematographic works or the borders. The case is typical that the Music Video "Sonata of Temptation" infringes the copyrights of the Japanese Animation "Final Fantasy 7". When the two works are compared and analyzed, a considerable portion of similarity is found; we can even express that no new scene is exist except it that the singer sings in the Music Video "Sonata of Temptation". Because this situation is not only a dishonor to the indivisual but also a great loss to the nation, we should thoroughly prepare not to infringe others' copyright even unconsciously.

This study is considered how retro design concepts that are used pop art can be expressed through overview of theories and cases, and suggested applying to retro design. As a result, we found first, concepts reflecting popular image, second, popular hero concepts simply represented pop art's feature. Third, there were no cases that are expressing the wounds made by political life. The most of cases expressed retro design with pop art representation techniques rather than reflecting of pop art's ideology or spirit. Pop art's retro design should be expressed as a modern style not only with reproduction of pop art, but also with designer's creativity and pop art's ideology and reinterpretation of formative meaning. Thus, it needs to set a concept by exploring of modern globalized mass media or daily life of people. Also, it should applying people's entertainment, spare time and fantasy to bright cheerful mood of pop art to express each area of design.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 289~301
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.289
This study is a research based on the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design whose purpose is to examine the effects of music therapy on the anxiety of patients who take the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) test and their feeling of discomfort during the test. "The first hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be lower in score for anxiety during the MRI test than the control group who do not was supported because after the therapy, the experimental group was found significantly decreased in that score in comparison to the control group. "The second hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be fewer in vital signs after the MRI test than the control group who do not" was rejected in terms of both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. But the same hypothesis was partially supported because the two groups showed a significant difference in pulse rate after the test. "The third hypothesis that the experimental group who receive music therapy will be less in the feeling of subjective discomfort during the MRI test than the control group who do not" was verified to find that the two groups were significantly different from each other in the feeling. Specifically, there was a significant difference between the two groups in only one sub-area of that feeling, that is, tension. These findings suggest that music therapy could be an alternative method which can effectively reduce the state anxiety of patients during the magnetic resonace imaging(MRI) test.

Recently, many construction firms fall on hard times because construction business continues to stagnate. In this paper, we analyze the efficiency of the listed construction firms using a combined AHP and DEA model. In order to determine the input and output factors of DEA, the AHP model is applied to evaluate the importance of input and output factors. The benchmarking companies and efficiency value for the construction firms with inefficiency are also provided to improve the their efficiency. We analyzed the 57 listed companies consisted of 36 listed on KOSPI and 21 listed on KOSDAQ at the end of 2009. The analysis results show that eleven companies whose values of CCR are 1, and fourteen enterprises whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. In additions, the eleven firms have the scalability efficiency. Finally, we test the correlation between efficiency and the stock price and the correlation coefficient of efficiency group is 0.7 in the CCR model.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze how customers recognize and respond perspective of perceived risk and media richness with regard to design patterns of internet web pages. Additionally, we will examine the extent to which aforementioned factors affect customer satisfaction. Analyses with perceived risks revealed that customers feel less personal risks including performance, psychology and time/convenience when used web pages of text-images and text-videos, compared to text only based web pages. However, customers feel that web pages consisting of image-text or video-text have higher points in terms of symbolism and social presence in media richness, compared to text only based web pages. Finally, we showed that personal risk and text-based Web page negatively affect but symbolism and social presence positively impact on customer satisfaction. Therefore, this study suggests a clue that why video-based Web content did not grow different from many people's expectation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 419~427
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.419
As for the anti-terrorism bills, which were submitted to the National Assembly, the mobilization of anti-terrorism commando, which was designated or established by the National Defense Minister, is mobilized the military troops without being based on marital law in light of the constitutional law, thereby possibly violating the constitution, first of all, with regards to mobilization of anti-terrorism commando, which was formed with military troops. The anti-terrorism commando is the military force, which was trained professionally for the anti-terrorism activity. Thus, the violation of human rights may be greatly reduced rather than what general soldiers are putted in the public-order activity such as anti-terrorism. However, it is thought to be desirable to make it possible for the input of special forces, which were trained professionally in relation to anti-terrorism activity, through constitutionally revising the constitutional law. As for the provision of 'support for military troops' in the anti-terrorism bill, what is a case that the nation's important facilities and multi-use facilities are difficult to be protected from terror with the anti-terrorism commando and police force needs to be constitutionally regarded as resulting in reaching the level enough to correspond to 'a state of national emergency equivalent to wartime incident.' Thus, enacting the future anti-terrorism law, it is thought to be unnecessary for having the provision of 'support for military troops' with receiving criticism obstinately for possibly violating the constitution.

Yu, Kwon-Kyu ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 6, 2011, Pages 486~494
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.6.486
River bed change due to various factors in watershed and/or river environment would one of the most important issues in river management. To judge whether the river bed was aggrading or degrading, normally we use the change in thalweg or average bed, calculated using the design flood of the river. The present study is to figure out the problems of the existing methods and to propose a new concept of average river bed using annual maximum flood. To evaluate the new method, it was applied to the Nakdong River. We use the river bed data surveyed in 1983, 1993, and 2005. The results showed that there were no significant river bed change during 1983 and 1993, while the river bed was degraded significantly during 1993 and 2005. In the latter period, the river had severe degradations, 2~3 m in average sense and 5 m for the maximum in the middle reach(120~200 km from river mouth), and 1~2 m in average in the upper reach(200~240 km from river mouth). For the upstream reach of the confluence of the Naesung River(about 240 km from river mouth), most of the river bed change seemed to be only local phenomena. The main cause of the river bed change in the Nakdong River seems to be massive gravel mining in the middle reach of the river.
