Yoo, Hyun ; Jo, Sun-Moon ; Chung, Kyung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 7, 2011, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.001
In modern society, the amount of information has been significantly increased according to the development of Internet and IT convergence technology and that leads to develop information obtaining and searching technologies from lots of data. Although the system integration for medicare has been largely established and that accumulates large amounts of information, there is a lack of providing and supporting information for nursing activities using such established database. In particular, the judgement for the intervention of pains depends on the experience of individual nurses and that leads to make subjective decisions in usual. In this paper, a pain nursing supporting method that uses the existing medical data and performs collaborative filtering is proposed. The proposed collaborative filtering is a method that extracts some items, which represent a high relativeness level, based on similar preferences. A preference estimation method using a user based collaborative filtering method calculates user similarities through Pearson correlation coefficients in which a neighbor selection method is used based on the user preference.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.009
In this paper, we attempt to realize the diversity of human actions in a virtual world in terms of the basic actions. We utilize the comprehensive knowledge structure of ontology to organize the human actions into an action hierarchy, each action being the root action of its associated hierarchy of specialized actions. Each basic action is implemented by composing the primitive motions and each basic action in turn by reusing those basic actions. Our approach to the development of these actions is focused more on their diversity and brevity than on their visual realism. Based on this design we develop a method to grasp virtual humans' characteristics and reflect those characteristics on their respective action patterns. We also present a mechanism for the agents to adapt their motions to diverse qualitative changes in environment. We apply these methods to such basic actions as walk, run and throw to demonstrate their viability.

U-health care services have been attracted to effectively solve some problems in promoting health and preparing aging society. Although the recent U-health care services have been developed to treat diseases, it requires environment information related to health for preventing fundamental diseases and for promoting health. In this study, a U-health environment service that reflects context recognition information is proposed. The proposed service draws environment information using local weather and healthcare information in users' residential areas. In the context recognition based U-health environment services, various services are provided to users not only health, living weather based menu, and exercise services but user location based warning messages for dangerous regions and remote emergency services. That is, based on such context recognition, some events that are to be occurred to users are detected and then it will provide proper services. Thus, it improves the satisfaction of U-health services and its service qualities.

Park, Jun-Ho ; Kim, Mi-Kyoung ; Seong, Dong-Ook ; Yoo, Jae-Soo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 11, issue 7, 2011, Pages 38~50
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.038
For energy-efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), when a sensor node detects events, the sensing period for collecting the detailed information is likely to be short. The lifetime of WSNs decreases because communication modules are used excessively on a specific sensor node. To solve this problem, the TARP decentralized network packets to neighbor nodes. It considered the average data transmission rate as well as the data distribution. However, since the existing scheme did not consider the energy consumption of a node in WSNs, its network lifetime is reduced. The proposed scheme considers the remaining amount of energy and the transmission rate on a single node in fitness evaluation. Since the proposed scheme performs an efficient congestion control it extends the network lifetime. The simulation result shows that our scheme enhances the data fairness and improves the network lifetime by about 27% on average over the existing scheme.

Intelligent service robots leading the future market are robots which assist humans physically, mentally, and emotionally. Since intelligent service robots operate in a tightly coupled manner with humans, their safe operation should be an inevitable consideration. For this safety, real-time capabilities are necessary to execute certain services periodically. Currently, most robot components are being developed based on Windows for the sake of development convenience. However, since Windows does not support real-time, there is no option but to use expensive third-party software such as RTX and INTime. Also since most robot components are usually execute in user-level, we need to research how to support real-time in user-level. In this paper, we design and implement how to support real-time for components running in user-level on Windows using RTiK which actually supports real-time in kernel level on Windows.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.060
As the mobile industry has developed, people have become to pursue more delicate information exchange and close relationships between individuals through it. According to such a request, Social Networking Services have been activated based on short messages. Moreover, in combination with smart phones, the needs for adding location information is recently increasing more and more. Security and Privacy problems, however, are raised because such location information is so sensitive and may be used maliciously by someone else. Especially, storing location information of family members in a public server may become a negative factor to hinder people from utilizing such services. Therefore, this paper proposes a location based SNS service using smart phones for home community that runs on a home server in a house so that relationships between family members at home may be closer and improved through utilizing the service.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.070
The multi-path routing schemes that assigns labels to sensor nodes for the reliability of data transmission and the accuracy of an aggregation query over the sensor networks where data transfer is prone to defect have been proposed. However, the existing schemes have high costs for reassigning labels to nodes when the network topology is changed. In this paper, we propose a novel routing method that avoids duplicated data and reduces the update cost of a sensor node. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme through the various experiments. Our experimental results show that our proposed method reduces about 95% the amount of the transmitted data for restoration to node failure and about 220% the amount of the transmitted data for query processing over the existing method on average.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.100
This thesis is a content analysis on whether the proportion of structural element and theme association of television news imagery is different, depending on the historical background, and on what it means, which can be the index of scene-based and realistic report. Most researches of television news are horizontal studies of the same period, making light of vertical studies reflecting the change of age. Therefore, This study analyzed 729 items composed of 11,945 shots extracted from MBC Newsdesk from 1987, to 2007, the samples of which were extracted by systematic random sampling with five years' interval. This content analysis found out that there was high proportion of scene-based and realistic report such as 'sound-bite', 'event footage', 'direct matching' in the year 1987, 2007, and high proportion of 'corroboration shot', 'file footage', 'indirect reference', 'literal matching only' in the year 1997, which revealed the fact that reality-based report had not been faithfully accomplished in 1997.

If you ask many Stereographers how to make a good S3D and you will get all different answers. There are several 3D knowledges and opinions that were not always in agreement. we have to choose which advice to follow and find our own way. But there will be no durable screening of S3D films without a minimal viewing comfort of all the audience whatever the differences of their vision. First of all, We always consider several factors to get an appropriate S3D shot before moving on to production. This is intended to provide a practical example on S3D film production. I hope that this article will encourage further research on this topic.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.153
This paper critically examines the evolution of Nam June Paik's self-contradictory art philosophy. While the existing literature tends to slight it, Paik's works of arts remain fraught with contradictions: Paik has proved prima facie avant-garde an artist; however, as the scale and form of his works have developed, the prophetic, path-breaking philosophical underpinnings of his arts evolved to become more conformist. The present paper aims to shed light on the understudied and underappreciated side of Paik's accomplishments in order to come to a fuller understanding and appreciation of his arts and his legacy.

Experiencing the vortex of postmodernism, modern graphic design has evolved radically from simple aesthetically-motivated style following modernism. Concurrently, Typography has transmuted into International Typography Style from Grid Standard, which was an outcome of modernism. Edward Fella is one of the most internationally prestigious figures practicing the contemporary graphic design style. He is currently pursuing his career as an educator by teaching graphic design and typography at Cal Arts. For a long time, Fella has devoted himself to yielding products of de-constructive presentations and constructing design identity based on aesthetics. This paper looks into aesthetic criteria which has affected modern graphic design, referring to graphism of Fella, an international graphic design and typography educator whose theoretical origins lie in French modern philosophy and aesthetics. Fella has created graphic works by making use of graphic motives residing in the unconscious and the subconscious. Therefore, his graphic style is viewed and investigated as de-constructive aesthetics in the paper. Drifting around toward the end of postmodernism, the present day defines itself as the age free of formality approaching uncertain future; however, Fella's typography graphically guides us to understand comprehensively not only how international graphic design flows from the present to the future, but its realizations in design works.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2011.11.7.192
This study looked into coping strategies of local terrestrial broadcasting companies in the media market, since the introduction of comprehensive programming channels was confirmed. Local terrestrial broadcasting companies vulnerable to market competitiveness are driven more out to the difficulty of survival in a limited advertising market with the advent of comprehensive programming channel. and Local terrestrial broadcasting receive discriminative application than comprehensive programming channel. They have reverse discrimination in must-carry, broadcasting area, programming regulation, advertisement regulation, broadcasting development fund. Hence, Local terrestrial broadcasting needs diverse countermeasures at difficult media circumstances. Above all, Competitive content reinforcement is desperately needed. That's why content distribution structure needs diversification. And, It is necessary for local terrestrial broadcasting companies to diversify the content distribution system. As a way to expand distribution structure of local broadcasting, the introduction of local programming regulations for total amount will be highlighted in the nationwide network program. The mandatory policy that programs produced by local terrestrial broadcasting companies will be broadcast regularly in prime time through a nationwide network is an example. In addition to developing high content independently, 2nd Multiple channels of distribution is needed. It has to be supplied to various platforms including local broadcasting, SO and etc. In addition, it is necessary to activate regional co-production program between local terrestrial broadcasting companies and regions. Time rate between central stations and local terrestrial broadcasting companies must be distributed practically. And also, local terrestrial broadcasting companies in addition to ad revenue model to themselves and their own businesses by expanding the sponsorship to strengthen the competitiveness will have to nurture self-sustaining. Moreover they must have enlarge economy of scale through widen of broadcasting area.

It is natural phenomenon that, as the level of customer satisfaction index increases, the ratio of satisfied customers increases too. However, the effectiveness of practical application of customer satisfaction survey for improvement of customer satisfaction decreases due to its structural limitation on its data analysis system. In order to cope with these problems, it is necessary to develop the new method to identify the strategy meanings and find the dissatisfied factors of satisfied customers using the satisfied customers reclassification. This study proposes the satisfied customer reclassification method based on attribute complex scores. The excremental results show that the it was expected to present more improved results than the number-producing oriented one dimensional model. This study is expected to play the role as the groundwork for the revitalization of customer satisfaction survey as well as improving customer satisfaction management.
