The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.001
In this paper, a method of determining the optimal threshold in image binarization for the marker recognition is suggested to resolve the problem that the performances of marker recognition are quite different according to the changes of indoor lighting. The suggested method determines the optimal threshold by considering the average brightness, the standard deviation and the maximum deviation of video image under the various indoor lighting circumstances, such as bright light, dim light, and shadow by unspecified obstacles. In particular, the recognition under the gradation lighting by shadow is improved by applying the weighted value that depends on the brightness of image. The suggested method is experimented to process
resolution video images under the various lighting environments, and it shows the fast and high performance, which is suitable for mobile indoor navigation.

Though Android-based smart phones are being released in Korea, Korean TTS engine is not built on them and Google has not announced service or software developer's kit related to Korean TTS officially. Thus, application developers who want to include Korean TTS capability in their application have difficulties. In this paper, we design and implement Android OS-based Korean TTS system and service. For speed, text preprocessing and synthesis libraries are implemented using Android NDK. By using Java's thread mechanism and the AudioTrack class, the response time of TTS is minimized. For the test of implemented service, an application that reads incoming SMS is developed. The test shows that synthesized speech are generated in real-time for random sentences. By using the implemented Korean TTS service, Android application developers can transmit information easily through voice. Korean TTS service proposed and implemented in this paper overcomes shortcomings of the existing restrictive synthesis methods and provides the benefit for application developers and users.

In recent years, Linked Data that is published under an open license shows increased growth rate and comes into the spotlight due to its interoperability and openness especially in government of developed countries. However there are relatively few out-links compared with its entire number of links and most of links refer a few hub dataset. These occur because of absence of technology that identifies entities in Linked data. In this paper, we present an improved author entity resolution method that using representative properties. To solve problems of previous methods that utilizes relation with other entities(owl:sameAs, owl:differentFrom and so on) or depends on Curation, we design and evaluate an automated realtime resolution process based on multi-ontologies that respects entity's type and its logical characteristics so as to verify entities consistency. The evaluation of author entity resolution shows positive results (The average of K measuring result is 0.8533.) with 29 author information that has obtained confirmation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 48~58
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.048
With the development of sensing devices and wireless communication technologies, wireless sensor networks are composed of a large number of sensor nodes that are equipped with limited computing performance and restricted communication capabilities. Besides, the sensor nodes are deployed in hostile or unattended environments. Therefore, the wireless sensor networks are vulnerable to security. In particular, the fatal damage may be occurred when data are exposed in real world applications. Therefore, it is important for design requirements to be made so that wireless sensor networks provide the strong security. However, because the conventional security schemes in wired networks did not consider the limited performance of the sensor node, they are so hard to be applied to wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a secure multipath transmission scheme based on one-way hash functions in wireless sensor networks considering the limited performance of the wireless sensor nodes. The proposed scheme converts a sensor reading based on one of one-way hash functions MD5 in order to make it harder to be cracked and snooped. And then, our scheme splits the converted data and transfers the split data to the base station using multi-path routing. The experimental results show that our proposed scheme consumes the energy of just about 6% over the existing security scheme.

Software change management is focused on the change of a entity like the change of contents of a system or a document. In change management, interactive relationship among requirements and complex decision making is needed to obtain optimized status. In this paper we design a management model of software change management in distributed environment which mange the change among components by time and situation. In addition, each components are defined and use ANP technique for best decision-making by using the subordinate relationship and feedback considering the mutual dependency referring the change of components in distributed environment. Thus, we analyze the dependency among each components and show 3 types of change relationship. Also through analysis of dependency, we verified the effectiveness of such approach.

Korea was followed by a rapid increase in road construction investment in late 1980s with the help of strong economic conditions. As a result of such investment, it will be expected that there must be a rapid increase in demand for maintenance or rehabilitation of the facilities after 2010. We are developing asset management information systems for enhancing user's satisfaction and innovating the facility management techniques within a limited budget. We suggested the assessment items for the Level of Service for tunnel facility's operation and maintenance(O&M), in this study. We have surveyed for the importance of assessment items by considering both user's viewpoints and facility management agency's viewpoints. We came to realize the relative importance of the items based on this survey using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method proposed by Satty. The relative importance of assessment items in terms of the user's viewpoint was identified in descending order such as safety, mobility, accessibility, convenience, O&M efficiency, comfort, rural revitalization, environment, and information. Also, the importance of the items in terms of the management agency's viewpoint was identified in descending order such as safety, mobility, accessibility, environment, rural revitalization, convenience, O&M efficiency, information, and comfort. It means that safety of tunnel facilities is more important than mobility, although which is the basic function of the road facility, both in agency's and user's concern. Therefore, the agencies have to pay more attentions and efforts to ensure safety of tunnel facilities when they establish the investment plans for the tunnel facility O&M.

Lee, Young-Ho ; Jang, Hee-Tae ; Lee, Byung-Mun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 80~90
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.080
Medical data sampled through medical sensor nodes can provide services properly only when the data are not lost even during the fault of a home health gateway. The loss of medical data can be minimized if a sensor node, in which it is expected that there are the most saving spaces, is selected after medical sensor nodes tentatively conduct local save or communicate with each other during a fault when data cannot received. Furthermore, efficient saving techniques are necessary since the cycle for sampling information is different according to the type of medical data and a space for distributed saving is different for each apparatus. So, this research suggests an efficient distributed archiving protocol (DAP) for medical data sensor nodes, each of which has a diverse sampling cycle. In order to confirm the usefulness of DAP, DAP between sensor node and gateway was designed and materialized. An experiment was conducted using the materialized program and earned a high level of recovery rate (99.3%) and of accuracy rate, which confirms that sensor nodes can play their role during a temporary fault.

Generally today's culture and the arts industry has been focusing more on economic value than the arts. Therefore this paper will elucidate the meaning of the culture and the arts can be a break though which can only include commercial and economic values but transcend its values ultimately. First of all, this paper will suggest an advanced 3D stereoscopic images by analysis of examples and environments of realistic media arts. Looking into the changes of related technologies and market environments, the motion-recognition technology, as seem in SF film "Minority report", has become a feasible technology. In the past, 3D stereoscopic images were shown in the theme park theatre and exhibition halls for group viewing. but recent 3D TV and display devices have changed those environments to personal. Since domestic researches of realistic media art has been little, this paper will analyze them respecting to three broad classifications. The results are : Firstly, in CAVE method, more impact capabilities of spectators are expected that they can manipulate interactive interfaces freely and the physical movements of spectators can operate interactively. Secondly, inter-network communications and expansion of viewers' perceptions are predicted by way of HMD method, sensor suites and communication equipments. Thirdly, combinations of HMD and motion tracking utilization is foreseen. With the convergent usages of these three features, we can prospect the possibilities of interactive 4D that spectators wearing 3D stereoscopic display devices can experience and make their own 3D stereoscopic images actively at the point of their views.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.112
The remarkable development of digital technologies and the success of 3D stereoscopic films have led to started drawing attention to stereoscopic images. The stereoscopic images have not become a passing fad in the present time unlike in the past, but have constantly showed their potentials. Unfortunately, the domestic stereoscopic images market is faced with difficulties, such as lack of the capital strength and of insufficient production infrastructure, and the production of 3D from 2D. As a result, it is not easy to produce creative stereoscopic animation contents. Therefore, in Korea, more efforts should be made in accumulating a plenty of data on production techniques. In order to make film production reflecting stereoscopy and effective stereoscopic implementation, which are necessary to produce high-quality stereoscopic contents, this thesis gave an explanation about a production technique studied on the basis of 3D graphic. Stereoscopic images are definitely one of the most promising image contents in the 21st digital contents industry. For the reason, in order to produce stereoscopic animation contents with high quality, fundamental studies on the stereoscopic images should be performed in a constant and cautions way.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.125
In this paper we draw from recent theoretical discussions of fan culture and the new media technologies to explore how online communities contribute to new forms of K-pop fandom. We suggest that these online sites play an important role in setting the new stage of dissemination and dialogue of K-pop knowledge, through which particular forms and spaces of online fan culture are being created and sustained. Moreover, these web-based communities challenge the existing concepts that have embraced interrelations between culture, consumption and technology. Based on an empirical study of YouTube, carried out using netnographic methods, this study tackles the following questions: how fans construct themselves as Korean pop fans through the online activities; how they exchange information and opinions of Korean stars; and, what meaning they extract from online file-sharing activities.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 154~165
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.154
In this paper, I examine the history of split screens, primarily seek to explain types of them, and explore the narrative meaning of each type in feature films. In short, I try to categorize the types of split screens and present a figure of them according to events and characters, focusing the relations between/among simultaneous images and narrative meanings. In addition, I assert that split screen have altered some methods of filmic storytelling and the ontology of screen. Story lines no longer have to be linear and the screen need not to remain a window through which we can see another world. The screen has come to be a canvas upon which several images can be arranged for narrative purposes.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 211~224
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.211
The performance-related industry has grown independently without being protected by the nation's great policy and legal boundary in the meantime. Even in the aspect of performance Act, the thoroughly pro-regulation policy on culture & art was taken while proceeding with segmenting the legislation rather than the freedom of performance art or the promotion of performance activity. Totally 17 cases of regulations including the abolition of scenario review system in January 1999 were fully abolished. Even 6 cases of regulations were steeply eased. Also, the importance of culture & art was recognized. Thus, to promote and support it in the governmental dimension, the substantial performance art policy system was adopted for training the performance art staff manpower and the national subsidy on performance hall. In performance art, the necessity of professionals' participation was imprinted such as stage lighting, sound, and stage machine. Accordingly, many regulations on performance art were all abolished except only the minimum issues for maintaining public order in about 50 years since the establishment of the government. 'Movie' was excluded from the definition of 'public performance' in 2002. Thus, the performance report system, which had been left institutionally from the Japanese colonial period, was eternally abolished. Following this, the performance Act was changed into the legislation of the supporting promoting policy, which reflected historical situation of needing to contribute to promoting public welfare, from the regulation-centered Act.

This study is focused on the relationship of old and new media with the concept of cultural interface. This study try to find out their similarities and differences of media contents and interface through contents analysis of
text. As a results, there are competible coexistance of transparent immediacy and hypermediacy as a double logic of remediation. And the features of remediation that borrowing, aggressive, and absorb are showed cross each other. A related studies are focused on the narrative structure of story and on analysis of character, events, and background. And the other studies are focused on the policy of new media distribution. But, recent new media emphasizes the visualization of 3D technology and that strategy. Also they tries to convert a various media contents. Therefore, it is important to check and prepare those environmental changes of media. Then, more researches will be applied to remediation and cultural interface of this study. And I hope that they will be find an alternative strategy of contents and interface on media.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 1, 2012, Pages 265~274
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.01.265
This study aims to examine the physical language of dance art's acceptability of the discourse method of story-telling as a narrative discourse system from the view of story-telling of cultural contents. Dance, through the establishment of relationship between dancers and stage art, can form a discourse system with various literary devices including figures of speech, metaphors, and symbols. The argument over manifestation of dance's narrative components in the concept of story-telling is shown as follows; the background as an object can offer time and spatial backgrounds through stage art and the dancers' performance elements; and, for the character, the dancer himself can be the first-person-narrator and possibly makes plane personality descriptions. As for the elements of main affairs of dance, the stage art components present the background of primary motif of incident and the dancer's diverse relationships form conflicts through the correlation of solo dance, duet, and group dance. The plot as a process of developing the main affair is led by actant such as the dancer's mime actions, gestures, facial expressions, etc. The element of dance's revealing narration is the dance art itself and the developing structure of narration is the dance language's own grammar. Choreographers should compose persuasive dance texts to convey stories efficiently through character decisions, their actions, stage art's elements that display the time and spatial backgrounds, and the development of plot, as a narrative discourse of dance.

Thirty tooth specimens were obtained from thirty premolar and were randomly divided into three groups: 1, untreated controls(Distilled water): 2, treatment with 15% CP bleaching agent; 3, treatment with 15% CP bleaching agent (contained 3% potassium nitrate and 0.11% fluoride). All groups were treated 6h per day for 14 days then immersed in distilled water. Changes in enamel color were evaluated on Baseline and Day 14. Microhardness were evaluated on Baseline, Days 7 and 14. All the bleached enamel specimens revealed increased whiteness without control group. Groups 2 and 3 showed significantly decreased enamel microhardness compared to control group. On Day 7, Groups 2-3 showed significantly decreased enamel microhardness compared to control group and respective baseline data. The percentage microhardness loss(PML) look at Day 7 and 14 for Group 1, respectively, there was little difference between 1.7 and 0.8. However, Group 2 was 21.9 and 3.5, Group 3 was 16.7 and 1.4 as a baseline and Day 7 were significantly different (p<0.05). The PML of group 2 was significantly highest than that of group 3 on Day 7. As a result, the data indicate that the addition of PF did not influence the whitening efficacy of the bleaching agent negatively. PF-containing bleaching agent reduce the percentage microhardness loss. PF-containing tooth bleaching your teeth with a whitening effect can be reduced by decreasing the hardness of enamel.
