DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.10.001
Many statistical methods have been adapted for terminology recognition to improve its accuracy. However, since previous studies have been carried out in a single core or a single machine, they have difficulties in real-time analysing explosively increasing documents. In this study, the task where bottlenecks occur in the process of terminology recognition is classified into linguistic processing in the process of 'candidate terminology extraction' and collection of statistical information in the process of 'terminology weight assignment'. A terminology recognition system is implemented and experimented to address each task by means of the distributed parallel processing-based MapReduce. The experiments were performed in two ways; the first experiment result revealed that distributed parallel processing by means of 12 nodes improves processing speed by 11.27 times as compared to the case of using a single machine and the second experiment was carried out on 1) default environment, 2) multiple reducers, 3) combiner, and 4) the combination of 2)and 3), and the use of 3) showed the best performance. Our terminology recognition system contributes to speed up knowledge extraction of large scale science and technology documents.

Hybrid network infrastructure has been deployed as the most important technology for the advanced research networking community such as Internet2, SURFnet, etc. However, further research needs to be performed in terms of feasible design and implementation of architecture for inter-domain collaborative network infrastructure, which is essential to end-to-end collaborative research based on high-end applications. In this paper, we suggest a framework for distributed and virtual network operations based on hybrid research networks and efficient cooperation between multi-domain hybrid networks, which aims to provide collaborative network environment for high-end applications. Suggested framework is designed to adopt decentralized model of multi-domain hybrid research network management. A collaborative and distributed virtual model that is characterized by cooperation among hybrid research networks that insist on maintaining their autonomy and control, can also contribute for researchers and other end-users to manage and operate their own virtual networks.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 10, 2012, Pages 35~42
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.10.035
This study will research the possibility about the extension from aesthetic artwork of information visualization to performance area. In information visualization fields, the function of transmitting information is important factor. In addition, the relationship with the audience concerning immersion and interactivity is also significant. Therefore, if an artwork in information visualization can extend to a performance, this study proposes that it is necessary to consider what elements are needed to intensify sensorium for the audience in that artwork. In order to solve that question, this study introduces and analyzes the installation artworks by Ben Rubin and Mark hansen in 2001. From this case study, we suggest three elements-the performing self, the performing interface and the dramatic pattern-to amplify sensorium by hypermediacy for the audience. This research would contribute to the understanding aesthetic artworks based on information visualization in terms of performing arts.

Depth understanding is important for stereoscopic and various methods including space design and cognitive science should be taken account in contents production. Among them, human scientific engineering such as human factor needs to be touched. More specifically, when the stereoscopic designer determines a binocular disparity, the viewpoint of the camera has to be matched with that of the audience. In this process, the structural problem by the distortion due to the dichoptic error is happened, Therefore, 3D sweetening process based on geometric re-analysis and human scientific engineering to minimize the visual fatigue is significant. This paper analyzes the inconsistency problems of the viewpoint in stereoscopic images, and we produce the stereoscopic image contents based on human factors.

Recently, significant tries appeared in the spatial design field were appreciated as tries to find crossing between space formation and discourse. This study is to find spatial clues from Gilles Deleuze, the modern philosopher's literature where he developed his discourse analyzing paintings of Francis Bacon, and reveal common characteristics with the contemporary spatial design. According to the analysis of Deleuze, Bacon's paintings are separated into frame-aplat, shape-figure, and contour-track. From these three elements, I extracted spatially analyzing languages of 'occurrence of shape-accident', 'space of track-sense', and 'interaction of aplat-background.' Then with these analyzing languages, I analyzed latest works of Rem Koolhaas. Deleuze Space Theory confirmed in works of Rem Koolhaas is the application of accident-focused occurred between the user and space, the space that induces accident, and differentiation between the user and space or space and site. As a result, I could confirm the common characteristic that both modern discourse and spatial design are understood as 'difference' from life and movement.

Freedom of speech is indispensable in Democracy. It is a rink among government agencies. Mass media as institutionalized means which forms public opinion impacts quite a few to a society. Mass media as a life media in our daily lives has characteristics of speed and prompt report. It is difficult to measure the effect on a society. Mass media is a lifeline in democracy because it has freedom of opinion for seeing, listening, speaking, and criticizing about the people's right to know in an information society. Our Constitution also guarantees freedom of the press, information(peoples's right to know), report, the collection of news, and edition. Because an unnecessary thing about a privacy is reported by mass media, it can violate defamation. This study seeks to be unbiased in reporting and what the principles of the Constitution for minimizing an invasion of a person's privacy is. This study also seeks freedom of speech and the right to know. In case that a personal honor is invaded by a mass media and a publication, this study provides the Constitution basis, Criminal Law basis, and Civic Law basis for remedy violation. A report for apology on newspaper and by television was widely used as "a proper punishment for honor recovery in the past". The constitutional court had decided that including the report of apology for "a proper punishment of honor recovery" in the article 764 of the Civic Law as a reason of freedom of conscience and the violation of personal rights was against the Constitution. Therefore, this study examples what is a legal remedy in practical?, where is legal basis of special remedy in the Civic Law, and what is a method by the Press Arbitration Law compared with the examples of other countries. On the other hand, because a mass media may injure a person's honor and infringe a person's privacy, if the report is categorized as a malicious press, the true role which mass media has to do may not demonstrated. In conclusion, this study was to minimalize infringement of mass media to a person and to seek a realistic alternative of a legal remedy.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.10.169
Due to the influences of global financial crisis, countries are putting their efforts on the enhancement of appropriateness and transparency of director compensation. In several countries including Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy, listed companies and financial institutions in certain levels make public announcement for compensations of individual directors, not the averages. Recently, even Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, and Singapore are introducing individual director compensation public announcement policies. On the other hand, in cases of companies, which must submit annual reports, under current Korean capital market laws and enforcement ordinances, they are obligated to mention 'total wage paid to all executives in that business year' on the annual report, but does not have to mention individual wages of each executive. About this, at the 17th national assembly, revised bill for the Securities and Exchange Act for companies to mention wages of each executive. The financial world is opposing to open individual director compensation to the public as they concern about the shrinking of outstanding human resources recruitment, breach of corporate confidence, privacy invasion, deterioration of labor-management relations, and downfall of the executive's management will as director compensation will be standardized downward; however, if public opening of individual director compensation is forced, domestic companies will prepare more objective and rational standards when they calculate director compensations, and moreover, it will prevent arbitrary intervention of dominant shareholders. Therefore, to clearly and efficiently control director compensation, we need regulations for obligating public opening of individual director compensation.

This study aimed to survey the impact of smartphone overuse on upper extremity pain, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships among college students. Subjects completed a structured questionnaire consisting of the Smartphone Addiction Inventory, the Musculoskeletal Symptom Checklist, the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, the Beck Depression Inventory-II, and the Relationship Change Scale from May to June 2012. We analyzed the survey data from 525 responses, excluding unreturned or incomplete surveys. Data were analyzed using the
test and t-test to determine the differences in smartphone overuse and its impact on upper extremity pain, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships between two groups: the overuse and normal use groups. Moreover, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to examine the correlation between smartphone overuse and upper extremity pain, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships. The results placed 62 people (11.8%) in the smartphone overuse group. The extent of smartphone overuse was more severe among female than male college students, and longer time spent using smartphones per day was directly related to smartphone overuse. The smartphone overuse group evidenced higher shoulder pain than the normal use group did, but no differences were found in other sites of the upper extremities. State anxiety, trait anxiety, and depression were higher in the smartphone overuse group than in the normal use group. Subjects with a higher extent of smartphone overuse experienced increased state-anxiety, trait-anxiety, and depression. Moreover, subjects with higher state-anxiety, trait-anxiety, and depression scores were more likely to have poor interpersonal relationships. Therefore, early screening for smartphone overuse should be evaluated, because it can be useful in developing addiction prevention programs to improve posture, stress coping, positive mental health, and effective interpersonal relationships.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 10, 2012, Pages 532~540
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.10.532
The purpose of this study is to explore young children's perception of IrobiQ, the teacher assistive robot. Participants of this study were fifty 5 year olds attending 3 kindergarten centers who had experienced the robot for at least 2 years. The study was conducted based on the "the hypothesis of speech register". Each child was read a storybook by a researcher and asked to choose which one is more suitable to human speech tones and accents among a robot, a friend, and a toy. The findings of this study were that the children perceived a robot as a hybrid compound entity, not as a complete human though they perceived it closer to a human than an artificial thing. They were likely to use cognitive distinctions which is unique to human being, as the criteria to verify their answers. These results would suggest that the traditional binary ontological category(animate vs. inanimate) is reconsidered to include an hybrid entity.
