Kim, Kye-Kyung ; Kim, Jae-Hong ; Lee, Jae-Yun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.001
The application of object recognition technology has been increased with a growing need to introduce automated system in industry. However, object transformed by noises and shadows appeared from illumination causes challenge problem in object detection and recognition. In this paper, an illumination invariant object detection using a DoG filter and adaptive threshold is proposed that reduces noises and shadows effects and reserves geometry features of object. And also, rotation invariant object recognition is proposed that has trained with neural network using classes categorized by object type and rotation angle. The simulation has been processed to evaluate feasibility of the proposed method that shows the accuracy of 99.86% and the matching speed of 0.03 seconds on ETRI database, which has 16,848 object images that has obtained in various lighting environment.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 9~19
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.009
Time-varying tempo of a song is one of the error sources for the identification of a note duration in automatic music recognition. This paper proposes an improved music transcription scheme equipped with the identification of note duration considering the time-varying tempo. In the proposed scheme the measures are found at first and the tempo, the playing time of each measure, is then estimated. The tempo is then used for resizing each IOI(Inter Onset Interval) length and considered to identify the accurate note duration, which increases the degree of correspondence to the music piece. In the experiment the proposed scheme found the accurate measure position for 14 monophonic children songs out of 16 ones recorded by men and women. Also, it achieved about 89.4% and 84.8% of the degree of matching to the original music piece for identification of note duration and pitch, respectively.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 30~38
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.030
Sentiment analysis is concerned with extracting and analyzing different kinds of user sentiment expressed in a variety of social media such as blog and twitter. Although sentiment analysis techniques are actively studied for these days, evaluation sets are not developed yet for Korean sentiment analysis. In this paper, we constructed an evaluation set for Korean sentiment analysis. To evaluate sentiment analysis systems more throughly, each sentence in our evaluation set is tagged with the polarity of the sentiment as well as the category and the strength of the sentiment. We divide kinds of sentiment into 7 positive categories and 15 negative categories. Each category is given the strength of the sentiment from 1 to 3. Our evaluation set consists of 3,270 sentences extracted from various social media. For each sentence, 5 human taggers assigned the category and the strength of the sentiment expressed in the sentence. The ratio of inter-taggers agreement was 93% in the polarity, 70% in the category, 58% in the strength of sentiment. The ratio of inter-taggers agreement our evaluation set is a bit higher than other evaluation sets developed for German and Spanish. This result shows our evaluation set can be used as a reliable resource for the evaluation of sentiment analysis systems.
Automated Test Data Generation Based on Branch Coverage for Testing C Programs
Chung, In-Sang ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 39~48
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.039
It is well known that software testing amounts for a significant portion of software development cost. In order to reduce the cost of software testing. a lot of researches on automated test data generation have been performed. Sophisticated tools for performing symbolic execution or solving a system of path constraints are required to support automated test data generation. Developing or purchasing those tools leads to another factor of increasing the cost involving software testing. In this paper, we propose a dynamic test data generation approach that does not depend on symbolic execution or constraint solving at all. The proposed approach extends Korel's path-oriented method to satisfy the branch coverage criterion effectively. We conducted an experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique with a triangle classification program to show that branch coverage can be easily achieved.

Recently as the user experience's importance has been emphasized, there has been many tries of various research methodology in order to understand the user. Specially, as the political investigation method's user understanding method based on the statistical analysis so far has encountered a limit, there has been a continuous tendency to try to introduce a humanitarian or cultural anthropological methodology. As part of this effort, there has been many tries of various approach methods of the Ethnography which is the cultural anthropological typical research methodology, but among those the Diary Study Method is mentioned as one of the effective methodologies. Therefore this thesis applies the Diary Study Method to the notebook PC bundle SW's attitude research and tries a deep rooted research about the user attitude. Also centered to the project of understanding the notebook PC bundle SW's user receptivity. it shows a specific example of the Diary Study applied to the user understanding. Through this process, we will examine the summary about the Ethnography research method, and will discuss an effective research methodology by through the process of analyzing and deducting the user inclination by applying and designing the Diary Study to the project. That is to say, it was progressed by actually applying the research methodology through a specific case, with the purpose of breaking away from the textbook discussion and progress with an application aspect discussion. Through the current research, we will verify an active user-inclined process about the user's notebook PC SW, and it is expected to be useful in establishing a SW UX strategy and distribution related to the bundle software.

Roh, Dong-Ryul ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 58~67
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.058
It is widely observed in the Korean broadcasting production industry that unfair trade practices occur either when the drawing up a contract is ill-timed, when the contract's stipulations do not adequately cover possibilities in reality, or when the contract is simply breached. In particular, the most prevalent cause of the breach of contracts lies in the broadcasting production practices. Hence, systematic efforts should be made to improve the daily practices of the production industry by ensuring that the whole production process is carried out by contract. In order to achieve this, the following are suggested: i) A preliminary contract is to be made prior to the main one. ii) A standard production contract, which can be used as a template for other sub-contracts such as writing contracts, acting contracts, employment contracts, and so on, needs be introduced. iii) The standard contract should stipulate the obligations of the personnel from broadcasting companies, the recognition of the rights of production companies that created formats, and the boundary of the autonomy that production companies can exercise during production, in particular. iv) Prohibitive provisions are to be introduced into the Broadcasting Law in order to limit the causes for unfair trade practices.

Lee, Won ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 11, 2012, Pages 68~75
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.068
The terrestrial television broadcasting has increased the number of the specialized job drama in the programming in 2000's, for overcoming the limit of the materials and reflecting the new sociocultural phenomenon valuing the specialized job. This drama benefits from good audience and huge fans, while the low average rate of audience shows the limit of competitiveness of this new genre. The text analysis clarifies three traits of the specialized job drama. At first, this genre is characterized by the variety of materials and the attempt of realistic description. Then, its narrative structure is organized so as to develop a story based rather on the success of career than on the relation of love. Finally, its last trait lives in the character of the heroes which is a creation based on the narrative structure.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.076
This study examined Korean and the U.S.A..'s television anti-smoking advertisements that were coined to discourage adults and teens smoking. A content analysis of 71 television advertisements listed in the "Smoking Guidance Program" operated by Korea Health Promotion Foundation. This study evaluated to detect whether the advertising content reflected core health communication theories such as health belief model, theory of reasoned action, and social cognitive theory used in the designing of anti-smoking ad message to change behavior and attitudes toward smoking unfavorably. The results showed that Korean anti-smoking ads mostly relied on social norm messages, followed by smoking attitude. The message of modeling and self-efficacy was least used; while, the U.S.A. ads focused more on modeling and self efficacy. This difference comes from the cultural difference. Namely, Korea focused more on collectivism rather than individualism. The anti-smoking ads of Korea and the U.S.A. most frequently adopted horror and humor rather than sadness, no appeal, and angry. The ads targeted more on adults rather than teens. The research identifies the types of advertisements that are most likely to utilized and underutilize in the Korea and U.S.A. anti-smoking ads and contribute to further understandings of anti-smoking ads theoretically.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.155
In any military services, young leaders are superiors to another and the leaders must be equipped with not only command and control(C2) and management capabilities but with a skill set that addresses their service members' problems and hardships throughout a counseling approach. These young leaders other than regular professional counselors are wearing dual hats as a commander and a counselor to address their service member's issues. There are couple of hours to give a lecture about counseling during the basic training course, however, we noticed that there are some limitations to cover up the uniqueness of counseling during the course, since we cannot rule out the unique vertical situation within military system that runs by its hierarchy. Therefore, we developed education program in order to enhance commander's counseling skills, refined the program with thorough review and commentary by professions and military commanders, and provided 10 events of program to the young leaders. As a result, the leaders scored high on self-effectiveness, communication skills, and counseling development-level. If we adjust minor changes to the program, it will be the outstanding program to improve young leaders' counseling capability.

In an experiment in which fermentation was done by adding fungal species that have antibiosis but do not have cellulase, the extraction amount of EGC, EC, EGCG, and ECG increased in all samples that fermented by adding sun-dried salt compared to those that fermented only with green tea after fermenting green tea by mixing it with sun-dried salt. In the analysis conducted according to the days of fermentation, the high extraction amounts of EGC(epigallocatechin), ECG(epicatechin gallate), EC(epicatechin), and EGCG(epigallocatechin gallate) were detected on the second and third day. Furthermore, when fermentation was done by adding ferment bacillus, all types of catechin(EGC, EC, EGCG, ECG) extraction increased in Paenibacillus spp but in Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, EGC and EC decreased while EGCG and ECG increased; whereas in Bacillus pumilus and Bacillus subtilis all types of catechin(EGC, EC, EGCG, ECG) decreased. The results of the above experiment reveal that the largest amount of catechin was extracted from the result which conducted fermentation for three days together with sun-dried salt and Paenibacillus spp in the green tea.

This study investigated any possible financial attributes of the CDS spreads of a firm belonging to financial industries headquartered in the Republic of Korea. There were few studies on this issue, especially for the firms located in emerging capital markets. Coupled with the models such as a multiple regression and a principal component analysis(PCA), this research has identified that only two explanatory variables such as SLOPE and INTER3 (i.e. interaction effect between the BETA and the SLOPE) consistently showed their statistically significant influence on the CDS spreads through the 'selected' model without and with applying a stepwise regression procedure for the robustness. Given the rapid developments of sophisticated financial derivatives, this study may suggest a valuable insight to foreign and domestic investors to identify the possible determinants of CDS spreads at the firm- and/or the industry-level.

Government has strictly regulated the concentration of the media market because the number of broadcasters was traditionally limited and they had significant influence on public. However as the media market converges with Internet's open architecture, scarcity and pervasiveness are losing their roles in justifying media regulation. This article examines market convergence and its impact on market concentration, and criticizes the current concentration regulation. The study indicates that market performance are much governed by firm's competitive actions than market structure, and that vertical integration contributes to service innovations, and that horizontal concentration makes it difficult to measure due to its even-changing market definition. Therefore, the regulation for market concentration should shift its focus from firm's market share to broadcaster's unfair acts driving market inefficiency and hurting content diversity.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.11.482
Because the satellite imagery can detect the radiative heat from the surface using the thermal IR (TIR) channel, there have been many efforts to verify the relationship between the land surface temperature (LST) and urban heat island. However, the relationship between geomorphological characteristics like surface aspects and LST is relatively less studied. Therefore, the geomorphological elements, for example, surface aspects and surface slopes, are considered to evaluate their effects on the change of the surface temperature distribution using the Landsat 7 ETM+ TIR channel and the possibility of the image to detect anthropogenic heat from the surface. We found that the surface aspect is ignorable but the surface slope with the sun elevation influences on the surface temperature distribution. Also, the radiative heat from the surface to the atmosphere could not be accurately recorded by the satellite image due to the surface slope but the slope correction process used in this study could correct the surface temperature under slope condition and the slope correction, in fact, was not influenced on the average temperature of the surface. The possibility of the anthropogenic heat detection from the surface from the satellite imagery was verified as well.

Human-human interaction network derived from Roman-fleuve, Togi was constructed. The network has a scale free properties as if most social networks do. The Togi is excellent model system for analyzing network dynamics because it has various characters and complex their interactions. The novel is composed of well-separated 5 sections. I constructed 5 different sub-netwotks from each section. As employing k-core algorithm as a useful tool for obtaining a core network from the complex networks, it is possible to obtain hidden and valuable information from a complex network. As gradually extending one section to another one, I constructed 4 different extended networks. The final one is whole network from the Togi. These results provide new insight that is analyzed by network-based approaches for network dynamics from literature, Togi.
