The purpose of this study is to present a methodology to effectively produce the e-learning contents in two platform types of PC based and mobile based platforms. Currently, the compatibility problem of flash technology widely used in the e-learning content production of existing PC based platform not supporting flash in some mobile platforms is being created while the condition of accompanying inconvenience in learning due to small screen and difference of input interface is being created in case of using the contents for PC even in case of the mobile platforms in which flash is supported. Considering this situation, this study is presenting a content development methodology that can provide services in both platform types based on standard technologies such as HTML 5. In conclusion, the methodology proposed in this study separates the content and the view of learning contents while supporting to enable content implementation using various forms of views based on the content database that has been constructed to show very efficiently characteristics in the content reuse and the multi platform support categories.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.010
Seamless streaming of multimedia content that ensures Quality of Service over heterogeneous networks has been a desire for many multimedia services, for which the multimedia contents should be adapted to usage environments such as network characteristics, terminal capabilities, and user preferences. Scalability in video coding is a good feature to meet the requirement of heterogeneous networks. In this paper, we propose a dynamic adaptation scheme of H.264/AVC SVC bit-stream using the MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA) tool. MPEG-21 DIA framework provides systematic solutions in choosing an adaptation operation to given conditions and supports interoperable video adaptation. The experiment results show that the proposed adaptation scheme provides QoS-enabled delivery and consumption of SVC with time-varying constraints of network, terminal, and user preference, in a robust and efficient way. In particular, the proposed adaptation scheme is proved to work well with very low delay under the condition that the variation rate of the given network bandwidth is upto 62%.

The biggest advantage of AR is that it allows unique experience in the real world through a virtual object. However, there is a limit in the marker techniques to do registration for the virtual object. Therefore, it is possible for a complication that only allows restrictive interaction to come up. This paper provides marker technique of the next generation which can supplement limitations of existing marker technique. Such marker is a combination of IR LED's, and is a convergence of LED VCL concepts of M2M. Environment where the user belongs to and their unique choice will be expressed into one context. Also, the context will be delivered to the system through OOK IR LED marker algorithm. Marker can be operated on the spot to change virtual objects according to the user's taste, registration can be done at the same time for several virtual objects, and control become possible.
Performance Comparison of Fast Distributed Video Decoding Methods Using Correlation between LDPCA Frames
Kim, Man-Jae ; Kim, Jin-Soo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 4, 2012, Pages 31~39
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.031
DVC(Distributed Video Coding) techniques have been attracting a lot of research works since these enable us to implement the light-weight video encoder and to provide good coding efficiency by introducing the feedback channel. However, the feedback channel causes the decoder to increase the decoding complexity and requires very high decoding latency because of numerous iterative decoding processes. So, in order to reduce the decoding delay and then to implement in a real-time environment, this paper proposes several parity bit estimation methods which are based on the temporal correlation, spatial correlation and spatio-temporal correlations between LDPCA frames on each bit plane in the consecutive video frames in pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv video coding scheme and then the performances of these methods are compared in fast DVC scheme. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the adaptive spatio-temporal correlation-based estimation method and the temporal correlation-based estimation method outperform others for the video frames with the highly active contents and the low active contents, respectively. By using these results, the proposed estimation schemes will be able to be effectively used in a variety of different applications.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.040
Online discussion bulletin in Korea is not only a specific place where user exchange opinions but also a public sphere through which users discuss and form public opinion. Sometimes, there is a heated debate on a topic and any article becomes a political or sociological issue. In this paper, we propose how to analyze the popularity of articles by collecting the information of articles obtained from two well-known discussion forums such as AGORA and SEOPRISE. And we propose a prediction model for the article popularity by applying the characteristics of subject articles. Our experiment shown that the popularity of 87.52% articles have been saturated within a day after the submission in AGORA, but the popularity of 39% articles is growing after 4 days passed in SEOPRISE. And we observed that there is a low correlation between the period of popularity and the hit count. The steady increase of the hit count of an article does not necessarily imply the final hit count of the article at the saturation point is so high. In this paper, we newly propose a new prediction model called 'baseline'. We evaluated the predictability for popular articles using three models (SVM, similar matching and baseline). Through the results of performance evaluation, we observed that SVM model is the best in F-measure and precision, but baseline is the best in running time.

Children develop their language skill rapidly between age 3 and 5. To meet the child's language development through a variety of experiences, it is necessary to develop age-appropriate contents. So it needs to develop various contents using speech interface for children, but there is no speech database of korean children. In this paper, we develop speech database of 3 to 5 years old children in korean. For collecting accurate children's speech, child education experts examine in the speech database development process. The words for database are selected from MCDI-K in two stage and children speak a word three times. Such collected speech are tokenized by child and word and stored in database. This speech database will be transferred through web and, hopefully, be the foundation of development of children-oriented contents.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.060
In recent years, the requirements on the high quality environment monitoring by using the sensor nodes which can handle the multimedia data in WSN have been increased. However, because the volume of multimedia data is tremendous, the limited bandwidth of a wireless channel may incur the bottleneck of a system. To solve such a problem, most of the existing distributed multi-path routing protocols based on multimedia data just focused on overcoming the limited bandwidth in order to enhance the energy efficiency and the transmission rate. However, because the existing methods can not apply a key-based technique to encrypt the multimedia data, they are very weak for the security. In this paper, we propose a secure disjointed multipath routing scheme for multimedia data transmission. Since our proposed scheme divides multimedia data(eg. image) into pixels and sends them through disjointed multipath routing, it can provide security to the whole network without using the key-based method. Our experimental results show that our proposed scheme reduces about 10% the amount of the energy consumption and about 65% the amount of the missed data packets caused by malicious nodes over the existing methods on average.

In this paper, to provide various services of QoS, and moreover applying traffic ratio to CAC(Call Admission Control) algorithm tested how long average data rate and the average packet delay time. When CAC algorithm is not applied, traffic mixture ratio is 1:1:4:4, the FTP Service 0.4, web services 0.6, streaming service 0.7, the packet delay requirements are not satisfied. On the other hand CAC Algorithm is applied, all the service of packet delay are satisfied with arrival rate. Therefore, we can make sure that applying of CAC of traffic control WWW, FTP, Video, VoIP can guarantee the various services of QoS.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.076
Through opinion mining, we can analyze the degree of positive or negative sentiments that customers feel about important entities or attributes in online customer reviews. But, the limit of the opinion mining techniques is to provide only simple functions in analyzing the reviews. In this paper, we proposed novel techniques that can analyze the online customer reviews multi-dimensionally. The novel technique is to modify the existing OLAP techniques so that they can be applied to text data. The novel technique, that is, multi-dimensional analytic model consists of noun, adjective and document axes which are converted into four relational tables in relational database. The multi-dimensional analysis model would be new framework which can converge the existing opinion mining, information summarization and clustering algorithms. In this paper, we implemented the multi-dimensional analysis model and algorithms. we recognized that the system would enable us to analyze the online customer reviews more complexly.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.095
Communication skill to maintain personal relationships is a crucial factor in our social life. However, even though a number of people are experiencing difficulty in communication owing to their poor interpersonal interchanges in real life, they are interacting with virtual characters in artificially created virtual space. In order to remedy such a lack of communication among game players, first, they need to search appropriate ways to communicate each other in real life, but not in virtual space, or to create a game space as a new place for interaction among them by utilizing advantages of the game world. To accomplish such an aim, it is necessary to precede the research on what kind of relations or characteristics for game players' interaction to others in the real life and game world. For the reason, in this paper, we investigate interaction patterns of game players in real life and in the virtual space. In order to perform this investigation, an ego-gram, which demonstrates the pattern of the ego states as a field-oriented approach is used as the research method. The result shows that there are differences between patterns in each spaces. so, we apply a factor analysis and analyse the relationship between the transaction pattern of players in two spaces using the ego-gram.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.133
The Purpose of the study is to identify the aesthetic of anxiety and horror in Roman Polanski's films, focusing on
. Polanski's films, of which main concern lies in veritable human under the circumstance of the closed space which is stained violence and horror, present a tendency of instability and brute force in the same age and individual's enervation and solitude isolated from the value of society. Eventually, it steadily deals with the origin horror of being. In this study, I analyzed Polanski's special feature of directing centering on three facters, such as visual storytelling, space design of isolation and enervation, and accompanying sight as a visual point of suspense. The style of Polanski's films, based on the classical priciple for suspense construction and variegated image making, shows that the incapable individual's awkward suffered in the closed circumstance, the strength of horror from the unknowable outside, and human's belief broken by brutal violence. These commonly connect to the theme of Roman Polanski's films.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.143
The research was started out of curiosity for what made
's fast and trilling pace possible although it is an old movie. The center of what made it possible was its use of the Long Take - Long Take was used in all of the scenes and in some cases only long take was used. What is interesting is the film maker's use of various cinematic techniques to prevent the scene from being too slow and keep the audience immersed in the characters. In one shot, acting in addition to Mise-en-Sc
ne were used to provide psychological immersion of character and scene. The use of Long Take, with the exception of some intentional scenes, was difficult to notice without conscience observation. All the components that make up Long Take. camera walking and lighting as well as actor's dialog and performance and scene movement all beautifully came together. The Long Take is generally replaced by many different sort shots. However, Mike Nichols clearly demonstrates the benefit of Long Take. In the movie, the general aesthetics from the use of Long Take is slightly altered for a different purpose. The specific methods and effects used in the application of Long Take is the subject of this study.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.156
In 2011, in the Olympus advertisement appeared a copy of 'Writing of Picture'. Usually, the verb of 'Shoot' is commonly attached behind the picture, but a new sentence was made connecting 'writing' into the picture in the advertisement. With entrance of the digital era, the digital devices became popular, and the behaviors people post messages and pictures together on the internet site also became popular. Whether we first take a picture and then make a writing later, or whether we first make a writing and then take a picture later, the meaning of 'writing' and 'shooting' is actually alike in the digital era. People now use various images and writings, at the same time, of the pictures in expressing their own selves positively. This soon means not only that the pictures are helpful for writings, but also that the delivery of the meaning is not carried out only by characters. To the digital natives who have grown within many images, this atmosphere is a natural thing. In the field of Korean language education, the study of making use of the pictures and media for writings is in progress.

Furthermore, these research can contribute that popular songs should be regarded and applied as a educational contents for the academic development and social improvement.
Conversional Aspect of The Theme Space Based on Visual Image Content:A Focus on Representation through Adaptation
Shin, Dong-Hee ; Kim, Hee-Kyung ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 4, 2012, Pages 186~197
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.186
The purpose of the thesis is to answer the question on how the visual image content, being the original content, should be adapted to and represented as a spatial content. The thesis focuses on adaptation as the key in the conversion process of visual image content to a themed space. There are many published studies dealing with storytelling, adaptation from books to movies and TV shows, or from movies to games and vice versa. On the contrary, when it comes to adaptation from visual image content to spatial content, noticeably few studies were done on the method, and fewer studies view adaptation as the prior step of storytelling. This study first defines adaptation, and then applies the methods of Gianetty and Dudley which is further incorporated into the conversion of visual image content into a themed space. It then turns the attention to the characteristics of themed spaces. A case study highlights that a themed space is a spatial representation of the story, image and action in the visual image content, and analyze the type of adaptation made. The study results draws two conclusions; adaptation must be carried out prior to the storytelling of the spatial content; and opposed to a third-person view of the visual image content, the main factor in a themed space is first-hand experience. Thus, the thesis suggests that conversion from visual image content to themed spaces are not merely imitative but is a full range of recreation of a new content. It is expected that more detailed analyses on the particulars will lead to feasible outcome on implementing various methods of adaptation and bring about effective conversions between the visual image contents and themed spaces.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.225
The purpose of this study is to explore possible ways to make a strategical use of CRM(Customer Relationship Management) for facilitating performing arts. In order to satisfy the purpose, this study investigated actual cases of CRM, primarily focusing on LG Art Center, one of representative performance venues in South Korea, and CREDIA, a performing art planning agency in South Korea. Here, it was found that LG Art Center operated its independent TMS(Theater Management System) and thereby could afford to successfully plan performing art programs on the basis of customer-oriented convenient ticketing system as well as a pile of customer information. On the other hand, CREDIA introduced advanced performance management system and has successfully attracted larger membership than before. Moreover, it organized specialized personnel in membership management and thereby could manage membership in systematic manner. And it was found that based on web log analysis, CREDIA developed a variety of products to comply with customer needs and thereby could realize higher returns and better customer satisfaction through cross-selling activities as well as performance ticketing. However, it was found that CREDIA still operated its membership system and mileage point system in stereotypes manner. Thus, it is required to operate differentiated membership system based on membership grades and diversify practical ways to save and use mileage points, so that CRM can be strategically applied to develop new audience and maintain loyal customers.

The objectives of this research are: to provide fundamental data for tourism policy and investigate medical tourism attributes by IPA(Importance-Performance Analysis) to attract Japanese medical tourists to Korea. Utilizing Japanese medical tourists as subjects of inquiry, this study evaluated the importance of medical tourism selection attributes and the rate at which these attributes were performed. Consequently, this study deduced 'convenience, service quality, differentiation, approximation' factors by factor analysis as well as the ranking among each selection attributes using T-test. The importance-performance analysis showed 'Concentrate Here' in quadrant I, 'Keep up the Good Work' in quadrant II, 'Low Priority' in quadrant III and 'Possible Overkill' in quadrant IV. The results show that "Concentrate Here" part in quadrant I is reservation procedure rapidity and information system simplicity. This means that these attributes are very important but they indicate low performance. Thus, concentration among tourism managers should be focused along these attributes. The study, then, suggests that employee who speaks Japanese fluently should be arranged during reservation procedure. Furthermore, Japanese class should become mandatory during basic employee training to improve reservation procedure rapidity. Moreover, clinic websites should concentrate on accessibility of Japanese users in such a way that they can consult their needs on line. Finally, managers should find diverse ways to bring about good service rapidly and conveniently.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 12, issue 4, 2012, Pages 476~484
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.476
Family member network of kings in Chosun dynasty shows scale free network properties as if most social networks do. One of distinct topological properties of the network is relatively high diameter that reflects dataset composed of the one generation continuously falling to next one. When k-core algorithm as a useful tool for obtaining a core network from the complex family member network was employed, it is possible to obtain hidden and valuable information from a complex network. Unfortunately, it is found that k-core algorithm is not useful tool for applying narrow and deep structural network. The family member network is composed of kings, queens, princes, and princesses. It is possible to separate sub-family members and to construct sub-family member networks such as queen-centered, prince-centered, and princess-centered networks. Sub-family member networks provide an useful and hidden information. These results provide new insight that is analyzed by network-based approaches for the family member of the kings in the Chosun dynasty.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2012.12.04.485
The role of admissions officers in universities is to evaluate applicants from a comprehensive perspective on the basis of diverse bases and materials for evaluation that include not only quantitative, but also qualitative information about applicants. Therefore, the crucial key to ensuring the success of the admissions officer system is to ensure the fairness of admission-related decisions and the integrity of individual admissions officers by urging them to render impartial evaluations based on professionalism and avoidance of bias. This study selected the major realm of the ethical education for admission officers on the basis or experts' opinions, and documentary research, and tried to secure the validity of the composed educational contents through the in-depth interviews and discussions with the incumbent admissions officers. The program must handle subjects that are intimately related to the actual experience of many admissions officers, and must be capable of inducing voluntary compliance from the officers. Therefore, the program suggested by this study focuses on three core areas of ethics: that is, 'interaction with society,' 'ethics and responsibilities involved in admission,' and 'legal obligations and roles of admissions officers.' To this end, it provides twelve sub-topics and learning materials. Providing this kind of ethical education programs for admissions officers will help not only to enhance the professionalism and ethical commitments of admissions officers, but also broadly to establish a fairer and more reliable admissions officer system.
