DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.001
A personalized recommendation system is a recommendation system that recommends goods to users' taste by using an automated information filtering technology. A collaborative filtering method in this technology is a method that discriminates certain types, which represent similar patterns. Thus, it is possible to estimate the pain strength based on the data of the patients who have the past similar types and extract related conditions according to the similarity in classified patients. A representative method using the Pearson correlation coefficient for extracting the similarity weight may represent inexact results as the sample data is small according to the amount of data. Also, it has a disadvantage that it is not possible to fast draw results due to the increase in calculations as a square scale as the sample data is large. In this paper, the excellency of the intelligence pain nursing intervention u-health system implemented by comparing the scale and similarity group of the sample data for extracting significant data is verified through the evaluation of MAE and Raking scoring. Based on the results of this verification, it is possible to present basic data and guidelines of the pain of patients recognized by nurses and that leads to improve the welfare of patients.

Go, Yun-Mi ; Kwon, Kyung-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 4, 2013, Pages 17~22
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.017
Impersonation attack, based on vulnerable security of SIP, facilitate a intruder to take malicious actions such as toll fraud and session hijacking. This paper suggests a new technique for a countermeasure. When receiving a register request message, registrar checks whether the value of Form header or the value of Call-ID header is stored in location server or not. If the record containing either of them are stored and periodically updated, we regard that message as impersonation attack and discard it. Since this technique uses the information stored in server instead of adding encryption mechanism for user authentication, it can easily build securer SIP environment.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.023
This study would verify the validity of two transmission technology, 'Clear QAM' and '8VSB'. 'Clear QAM' and '8VSB', the transmisson technology, have been suggested as the concrete alternatives in the situation that half of subscriber of multi channel tv service have been still out of benefit from digital convert. In this study, we have shown that the introduction of 'Clear QAM' and '8VSB' should ease economical burdens and information minority group without extra set-top box. But there is another concern that it should negatively affect on the contents industry by a devaluation of the multi channel tv service or by an infringement of copyright. In these reasons, it is still difficult to solve the related concern, though the government have to set up the politic goal for the related industry as well digital convert. This study suggested that Korea Communication Commission consider above-mentioned technology temporarily, and reconsider 'Clear QAM' around the completion of the digital convert project.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 4, 2013, Pages 35~43
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.035
Exercise such as walking is helpful to manage one's own weight and to counter life habit diseases such as obesity. Calorie consumption is usually calculated based on the distance walked. One way to measure the distance is by using steps and stride length. Most pedometers, including some applications in smart devices, are inaccurate, because they use a common value as the average stride length, even though each person has a different stride length. Moreover, the stride length differs depending on the walking pace, which will further increase the error. To address this, in this paper, I classify paces into three categories. Following that, I introduce a customized measurement of stride length, which is calculated based on the stride length corresponding to each pace category after obtaining x, y, z values from a 3-axis accelerometer in the smart device. In addition to this, I developed an application running on the smart device designed for the proposed measurement of stride. I have conducted three experiments for the assessment of the proposed measurement. In conclusion, I confirmed the effectiveness of this system.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 4, 2013, Pages 53~63
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.053
This paper presents an importance sampling(IS) embedded experimental frame(EF) design for efficient Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. To achieve IS principles, the proposed EF contains two embedded sub-models, which are classified into Importance Sampler(IS) and Bias Compensator(BC) models. The IS and BC models stand between the existing system model and EF, which leads to enhancement of model reusability. Furthermore, the proposed EF enables to achieve fast stochastic simulation as compared with the crude MC technique. From the abstract two case studies with the utilization of the proposed EF, we can gain interesting experimental results regarding remarkable enhancement of simulation performance. Finally, we expect that this work will serve various content areas for enhancing simulation performance, and besides, it will be utilized as a tool to understand and analyze social phenomena.

Lee, Kyoung-Mi ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 4, 2013, Pages 64~72
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.064
This paper proposes a dynamic gesture recognition algorithm using SVM(Support Vector Machine) which is suitable for multi-dimension classification. First of all, the proposed algorithm locates the beginning and end of the gestures on the video frames at the Kinect camera, spots meaningful gesture frames, and normalizes the number of frames. Then, for gesture recognition, the algorithm extracts gesture features using body parts' positions and relations among the parts based on the human model from the normalized frames. C-SVM for each dynamic gesture is trained using training data which consists of positive data and negative data. The final gesture is chosen with the largest value of C-SVM values. The proposed gesture recognition algorithm can be applied to the interactive storybook as gesture interface.

The research is centered towards analyzing the differentiation of the characteristics and organization of programming strategy and channel positioning by selecting Korean International Public Relations Broadcasting Stations Arirang TV and KBS World. According to the results, Arirang TV positions Korean culture content-implied educational programs as their strategy while KBS World places the main programs of KBS1, 2TV with many entertainment programs such as dramas and entertainment shows. Arirang TV's programming strategy is well-fulfilling the purpose of promoting Korea's culture contents by organizing their programming with documentaries, tourist information, and daily living information. On the other hand, KBS World works as the agent of the spread of the Korean Wave by filling their program with dramas and K-pop programs such as
. Due to the difference in programming strategy of these two broadcasting stations, Arirang TV has positioned itself as a diplomatic channel to spread Korean culture and KBS World a channel representing the Korean Wave. However, there are problems of inefficiency due to recurrent investments because of the fact that both broadcasting stations' programming strategy is to promote Korean culture and spread the Korean Wave by aiming similar targets such as foreigners or overseas Koreans.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.281
As the number of clinical trials conducted in Korea increases, the need of the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system for effective clinical data management is also increased. Recently, the Korea Food and Drug Association published 'Guideline for the Electronic Clinical Trial Data Management and Processing' and it would be the foundation for establishing regulation of electronic clinical data management. In this research, we conducted the survey regarding adoption rate of EDC system in clinical trials in hospitals, Contract Research Organizations (CRO), and pharmaceutical companies. And the perceived importance and the ease of application for the Guideline were investigated. The adoption rates of EDC system was 77.6% but it mostly applied to less than five trials. Also EDC system was mostly used in phase I and phase II trials and the utilization rate of CRO was the highest. The perceived importance for the Guideline was high among all three organizations but, in case of the perceived ease of its application, CRO was the highest. Also, the perceived importance of the clinical data standard was high and the standard for data collection was mostly required. However, the comprehension for the global standard of the electronic data was relatively low, so that education is required. This result would be the foundation to increase the electronic clinical trials and develop proper regulation and principles for clinical data standards in Korea.

While the mobile application market is growing fast, the revenues of the majority apps are declining. Moreover, paid mobile application prices and purchases have been slow because of intensifying competition. However, the conventional studies focused only on the acceptance factor of mobile applications, so they cannot explain the phenomenon such as acceptance resistance for paid mobile applications. Therefore, our study tries to analyze the factors for the acceptance resistance of users for paid mobile applications. The research model in this paper, which is based on S-O-R model, verified through surveys how social influence and app characteristics affect user perception and how user perception affects to app resistance. The results of our study showed that paid mobile applications happened to be destroyed in front of the chasm because of the perceived loss. Consequently, the results implicate that the developers should lower the initial price and actively react to the negative reviews in order to lower the perceived loss. Moreover, the results verified that a sense of self-efficacy can lower application acceptance resistance by including personal properties to our research model as control variables.

This study aims to analyze the formativeness of zzaim (traditional craft techniques to combine two or more materials to make an angle or to weave them to make a slope side) and systematically classified these techniques to help furniture manufacturers effectively utilize them in the design of contemporary furniture. From this data, furniture manufacturers can have benefits to understand which type of zzaim techniques will be appropriate to their plan of building furniture, and practically use relevant techniques in the field. This study classified four different applications of zzaim techniques depending on sites, such as (1) the top, (2) middle body, (3) lower body, and (4) legs of furniture. In summary, zzaim techniques are differently applied depending on the application sites and formative types of furniture. This feature makes general furniture manufacturers who want to apply zzaim techniques for the first time have hard time to understand which kind of technique should be applied to which part. Recognizing this problem, this study expects general manufacturers as well as master artisans to more effectively utilize zzaim techniques by providing the systematic data on the formative analysis of types of furniture and application sites.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.427
With the fast development of complex science, lots of social networks are studied. We know that the social network is widely applied in analyzing issues in human culture, economics and web sciences. Recently we witness that some researchers began to compare the social network constructed from fiction literatures(literature social network) and the real social network obtained from practice. But we point that previous approaches for literature social network have some drawbacks since they completely depend on the biographical dictionary constructed for a designated literature. So since the previous approach focus on the few important characters and peoples around them, we can not understand the global structure of all characters appeared in the literature at least once. We propose one method to extract all characters appeared in the literature and how to make the social network from that information. Also we newly propose K-critical network by applying frequency of the named characters and the strength of relationship among all textual characters. Our experiment shows that the K-critical measure could be one crucial quantitative measure to compute the relationship strength among characters appeared in the object literature.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.459
With advancements in augmented reality technology, attempts to apply it in various fields have increased. With advancements in information technology and a growth in the number of Korean learners in Korea and abroad, there is a growing demand for state-of-the-art Korean learning contents. Because the Korean learning contents developed using augmented reality have been found insufficient, this paper investigates ways to develop better contents. This paper proposes ways to develop learning contents that can increase learners' interest in learning and lead to academic achievement, because the methods of education in Korea are limited to textbook learning and learning through the media. Because of the structure of fairytales and the educational lessons that can be learned from them, Korean learning contents are developed using fairytales. Additionally, Korean contents are designed to implement augmented reality technology, and learners need only have computers, webcams, and markers to make use of it. In consideration of Korean learners who do not have access to augmented reality technology, this paper clarifies that there should be a harmony between existing and new Korean learning contents. On the basis of this study, further studies on Korean education exploring the role of augmented reality should be conducted so that Korean learning contents that use diverse types of augmented reality technology can be will developed.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.04.518
A number of schools have introduced the Reward and Punishment Mark System. It has been applied to children at school in order to minimize the ill effects that are often caused by physical punishment. In this case, teachers have caused problematic issues in the course of student life guidance at school. However, the application of the personal Reward and Punishment Mark System raises many other questions as well. Accordingly, there is the necessity of making up for its weak points on the systematic level. The purpose of this study is to understand the Effect of the Collective Reward and Punishment Mark System, as a substitute punishment to the physical punishment, applying the reward and punishment mark system not to an individual but to a group. The Collective Reward and Punishment Mark System for the upper grade students of primary schools showed a positive effect which assists their adaptation to school. To put it more concretely, according to the characters of the study subjects, the system has proved that boy students are more positively affected than girl students. It has been also revealed that those students in the fourth grade experience a positive change in all areas of the adaptation to school, while those in the fifth and the sixth grade were negatively affected. Moreover, those who hold a lower rank in respect of grade achievement experienced a more positive change than those standing among a high rank. It is expected that the Effect of the Collective Reward and Punishment Marks System, on the basis of the study, possesses affirmative intervention on the field.
