Vanishing Points Detection in Indoor Scene Using Line Segment Classification
Ma, Chaoqing ; Gwun, Oubong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 8, 2013, Pages 1~10
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.001
This paper proposes a method to detect vanishing points of an indoor scene using line segment classification. Two-stage vanishing points detection is carried out to detect vanishing point in indoor scene efficiently. In the first stage, the method examines whether the image composition is a one-point perspective projection or a two-point one. If it is a two-point perspective projection, a horizontal line through the detected vanishing point is found for line segment classification. In the second stage, the method detects two vanishing points exactly using line segment classification. The method is evaluated by synthetic images and an image DB. In the synthetic image which some noise is added in, vanishing point detection error is under 16 pixels until the percent of the noise to the image becomes 60%. Vanishing points detection ratio by A.Quattoni and A.Torralba's image DB is over 87%.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 8, 2013, Pages 11~19
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.011
This paper presents a simple method to estimate center of distortion and correct radial distortion from fish-eye lens. If the center of image is not locate that of lens in a straight line, the disadvantage of FOV model is low accurate because of correcting distortion without estimated centre of distortion. We propose a method accurately estimating Distortion center using FOV model and 2D pattern from wide angle lens. Our method determines the center of distortion in least error between straight lines and curves with FOV model. The results of experimental measurements on synthetic and real data are presented.

Recently, cloud data management has been actively studied along with the development of a cloud computing technology that can process large amounts of data at a lower cost. However, the existing cloud computing platforms do not guarantee interoperability according to the construction environments of users because they do not provide technical and political openness. In other words, in order for users to receive the related services, they use services provided by only one vendor. In this paper, we design and implement a storage interface that supports the international standard CDMI in order to retrieve, update, and delete data in could environments. These interfaces provide the functionality required for developers who want to build and use the cloud storage without special restrictions. In addition, we verify the operability and usability of CDMI international standard through the implementation of the proposed system.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.036
Fully homomorphic encryption is a cryptography system in which coded data can be searched and statistically processed without decryption. Fully homomorphic encryption has accelerated searching speed by minimizing time spent on encryption and decryption. In addition, it is also known to prevent leakage of any data decoded for statistical reasons. Also, it is expected to protect personal information stored in the cloud computing environment which is becoming commercialized. Since the 1970s when fully homomorphic encryption was first introduced, it has been researched to develop the algorithm that satisfy effectiveness and functionality. We will take the reader through a journey of these developments and provide a glimpse of the exciting research directions that lie ahead.
Raster Pipeline Implementation based on 3D Graphics Geometry Pipelines
Baek, Nakhoon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 8, 2013, Pages 44~51
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.044
Raster operations are widely used to display full-color graphics images (or pixmaps) and single-color images (or bitmaps). These features are strongly needed for image processing applications and font output. However, current mobile graphics platforms, including OpenGL ES hardware implementations, do not directly support these features. To fully support those raster operations on the mobile graphics platforms, we interpreted the graphics images as a set of 3D points, and processed those 3D points through the typical 3D geometry pipelines, in a full-software implementation. Our implementation shows sufficient execution speeds, and passed the official conformance tests to show its correctness.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.052
Recently, the importance of the efficient production pipeline design has been increased for 3D animation, which becomes more delicate. In this paper, we propose 3D animation character development pipeline using 3D printing technology. We introduce 3D printing procedure into each step of the classical 3D animation and character development pipeline to incorporate the feed-back from the designer immediately. Specially, during the production step, we can find the design errors and minimize the period of production by using 3D printing of approximate shape of designed character. Using proposed method, eight DreaMegg characters were developed and their quality was very high with respect to 3D virtual graphics and real product. Using our method, high-quality 3D animation character can be developed with the minimized time and cost for development by reflecting the feed-back into production line from designers and researchers immediately.

Text visualization begins with understanding text itself which is material of visual expression. To visualize any text data, sufficient understanding about characteristics of the text first and the expressive approaches can be decided depending on the derived unique characteristics of the text. In this research we aimed to establish theoretical foundation about the approaches for text visualization by diverse examples of text visualization which are derived through the various characteristics of the text. To do this, we chose the 'Bible' text which is well known globally and digital data of it can be accessed easily and thus diverse text visualization examples exist and analyzed the examples of the bible text visualization. We derived the unique characteristics of text-content, structure, quotation- as criteria for analyzing and supported validity of analysis by adopting at least 2-3 examples for each criterion. In the result, we can comprehend that the goals and expressive approaches are decided depending on the unique characteristics of the Bible text. We expect to build theoretical method for choosing the materials and approaches by analyzing more diverse examples with various point of views on the basis of this research.

, and values were respectively high in the sections on' disregard when students have a lack of knowledge' and 'repetition in simple tasks'. Students who had a good training atmosphere, good relationships with clinical radiological technologists and other students, and students who had high self-esteem showed low stress levels. The effect on BEPSI scale increased as interpersonal relationships and performance declined. Therefore, training institutions should consider relaxation areas for students, radiological technologists should not ignore the reality that students do not have substantial knowledge in clinical practice and comparisons made between students should not exist. In addition, there is the need to make an effort to reduce stress experienced by students in clinical practice through the use of positive communication and encouragement by assigning various training opportunities, providing areas to sit and initiating relaxation periods for students to reduce fatigue, as well as challenging students rather than restricting them to the simple and repetitive routines they encounter in clinical practice.

The patient radiation dose is different depending on selection of Ion chamber when taking Chest PA which using AEC. In this paper, we studied acquiring the best diagnostic images according to selection of Ion chamber on AEC mode as well as minimizing patient radiation dose. Experimental methods were selection of Ion chamber and change of sensitivity under the same conditions as Chest PA projection. At AEC mode, two upper ion chambers sensors and one lower ion chamber sensor were divided into 7 cases according to selection of on/off. after measuring five times respectively, we obtained average value and calculated exposure dose. Image assessment was done with measured Modulation Transfer Function, Peak Signal to Noise Ratio, Root Mean Square, Signal to Noise Ratio, Contrast to Noise Ratio, Mean to Standard deviation Ratio respectively. In exposure assessment results, selection of two upper chambers was the lowest. In resolution assessment results, image of two upper chambers had the second high spatial frequency at sensitivity at 625(High) was 1.343 lp/mm. RMS value of image selecting two upper chambers was low secondly. SNR, CNR, MSR were the high value secondly. As the sensitivity was increased, radiation dose was decreased but better image could be obtained on image quality. In order to obtain the best medical images while minimizing the dose, usage of two upper ion chambers is considered to be clinically useful at sensitivity 625(High).

The importance of ultrasound examination in the field of medical imaging has been emphasized and the interest in sonographic image evaluation is growing. However image evaluations by the non-standardized criteria and methods, so establishment of legal provisions and objective evaluation criteria are needed. In this study, we used SNR to find out more quantitative way and supplement the limitations of the existing phantom image evaluation. The results of acquired 8 images using ATS-539 multipurpose phantom were compared in SNR of sensitivity and gray-scale dynamic range. In the result of the experiment, excellent equipment of existing phantom images are G1, S1 and G2 in regular sequence. In SNR of sensitivity, G1, S1 and G2 and in SNR of gray-scale dynamic range, S1 G1 and G2 in order. In the conclusion, all the experiment results did not show big difference and regular pattern neither. Therefore, the new evaluation measures should be used with the existing phantom image evaluation method for more objective and quantitative evaluation of the ultrasound imaging device.

Choi, Seong-Kwan ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 8, 2013, Pages 301~307
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.301
In the present study, space doses generated during X-ray radiography of hand, head, and abdomen, etc. were examined and whether the intensity of space doses of scattering rays is attenuated by the "inverse square law of distance" was figured out. First, the space doses of X-ray with small amounts of generated scattering rays such as hand radiography were mostly attenuated by the "inverse square law of distance" and were not detected at all at a distance of 2m. Second, the space doses of X-ray with large amounts of generated scattering rays such as head or abdomen radiography attenuated in higher rates than the rates under the "inverse square law of distance" at distances ranging from 30cm to 1m from the center of the irradiation field and were attenuated by the "inverse square law of distance" at distances ranging from 1m to 2m. Therefore, in X-ray rooms, the subject should be at least 2m away from the center of the irradiation field in the case of hand radiography and X-ray exposure prevention actions using protective devices are required in the entire spaces of the X-ray rooms in the case of head or abdomen radiography.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.308
Among 179 specimen diagnosed with ASCUS but did not go through biopsy or other tests, 26 cases (14.52%) showed positivity in HPV Hybrid Capture II Test. There were 25 cases of HPV high risk factor(+), marking 13.96%, and 3 cases of low risk factor(+) at 1.67%. According to cytology manifestation, patients with over LSIL can increase their complete recovery rate with continuous tests, but most patients diagnosed ASCUS do not go through any tests at all. It is considered that in order to prevent and start early treatment on cervical cancer, the HPV Hybrid Capture II Test must be enforced to patients diagnosed with ASCUS. Negative patients should go through routine screening, and positive patients should receive treatment after colposcopy.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 8, 2013, Pages 314~323
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.314
This study analyzed the relationship between the level of hospital caseloads and length of stay for the delivery patients. The differences of hospital caseloads were measured by the Internal Herfindahl Index, which measured the concentration of delivery patient in a hospital. And the structure variables of hospitals such as the number of bed, the number of treatment, and the number of doctors and nurses per 100 beds were included as control variables. And average length of stay of delivery patients was used as the dependent variable. Concentration status of delivery patients was measured in two models: (1) first model represents the concentration level of delivery patient in all hospital patients, (2) second model represents the concentration level of delivery patient in all obstetrics and gynecology patients. In regression analysis, patient concentration index was not statistically significant in explaining the variation of average length of stay in two models. But the number of delivery patients and number of beds were statistically significant. The number of delivery patient variable showed negative regression coefficient with average length of stay and the number of beds showed positive coefficient with average length of stay. This study result indicated that the volume of delivery patients in a hospital will play a significant role in reducing the length of stay of delivery patients. Patient volume could contribute in improving the efficiency of patient care in a hospital.

Library and information service (LIS) of academic libraries plays an important role in the education and research activities of universities. Such importance of LIS facilitated much research that defines the quality factors constituting LIS and identifies the importance of them. The previous literature, however, has some limitations. The limitations arise from the interrelationship among the quality factors and the perception gap between users and providers on LIS quality factors. Despite the understanding of the interrelationship and the perception gap, LIS studies to deal with both dimesions synthetically are sparse. Therefore, this paper defines the interrelationship among LIS quality factors as a network model, then identifies the perception gap on LIS quality factors by exploiting the analytic network process. As an early stage study, this paper contributes to helping the quality improvement of acedemic LIS by considering the interrelationship among LIS quality factors and the perception gap on the LIS quality factors between LIS users and providers.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.08.466
Gene expression is regulated by a wide range of mechanisms at the DNA sequence level. In addition, gene expression is also regulated by epigenetic mechanisms through DNA methylation, histone modification, and ncRNA. To understand the regulation of gene expression at the epigenetic level, we constructed aging related gene database and analyzed epigenetic properties that are focused on DNA methylation. The DNA methylation of promoter or upstream region of the genes induces to repress the gene expression. We compared and analyzed distribution between whole human genes and aging related genes in the epigenetic properties such as CGI distribution, methylation motif pattern, and TFBS (transcription factor binding site) distribution. In contrast to methylation motif pattern, CGI and TFBS distributions are positively correlated with epigenetic regulation of aging related gene expression. In this study, the epigenetic data about DNA methylation of the aging genes will provide us to understand phenomena of the aging and epigenetic mechanism for regulation of aging related genes.
