The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.001
In recent, the cloud computing makes it possible to provide the on-demand provision of software, hardware, and data as a service in various IT fields. This paper uses the cloud computing techniques for the real time broadcasting service of virtual 3D contents. However, the existing related solutions have many problems that the load of the server is rapidly increased or the cost of the server is very high when the number of service users is increased. Therefore, we propose a new application virtualization method to solve these problems. It promises their stable operations in multi-user services because the proposed method does not execute the rendering commands of the application at the host server but delivers and executes them to clients via the Internet. Our performance experiments show that our proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

This Paper proposed the development of new magnetic sensor and recognition system to expendite pattern recognition of a handwriting character. Received character graphics should be performed the session and balancing and no extraction of end points, bend points and juntions separately. The Artifical intelligence algorithm is adapted to structure snalysis and recognition process by individual basic letter dictionary except for the handwriing character graphic dictionaryimproving error of recognition algorithm and enomous dictionary for generalization. In this Paper, recognition rate of the received character are compared with pre registered character at letter dictionary for performance test of magnetic ball sensor. As a result of unicode conversion and eomparison, the artificial intelligence study have recognition rate more than 95% at initial recognition rate of 70%.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 20~27
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.020
In recently years, with the growth of social media and the development of mobile devices, the data have been significantly increased. MapReduce is an emerging programming model that processes large amount of data. However, since MapReduce evenly places the data in the dedicated distributed computing environment, it is not suitable to the non-dedicated distributed computing environment. The data replacement algorithms were proposed for performance optimization of MapReduce in the non-dedicated distributed computing environments. However, they spend much time for date replacement and cause the network load for unnecessary data transmission. In this paper, we propose an efficient data replacement algorithm for the performance optimization of MapReduce in the non-dedicated distributed computing environments. The proposed scheme computes the ratio of data blocks in the nodes based on the node availability model and reduces the network load by transmitting the data blocks considering the data placement. Our experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme.
A Flash Memory B+-Tree for Efficient Range Searches
Lim, Sung-Chae ; Park, Chang-Sup ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 28~38
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.028
During the past decades, the B+-tree has been most widely used as an index file structure for disk-resident databases. For the disk based B+-tree, a node update can be cheaply performed just by modifying its associated disk page in place. However, in case that the B+-tree is stored on flash memory, the traditional algorithms of the B+-tree come to be useless due to the prohibitive cost of in-place updates on flash memory. For this reason, the earlier schemes for flash memory B+-trees usually take an approach that saves B+-tree changes from real-time updates into extra temporary storage. Although that approach can easily prevent frequent in-place updates in the B+-tree, it can suffer from a waste of storage space and prolonged search times. Particularly, it is not allowable to process range searches on the leaf node level. To resolve such problems, we devise a new scheme in which the leaf nodes and their parent node are stored together in a single flash block, called the p-node block.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 72~80
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.072
A common fallacy found at opera works is to lean either toward 'opera as drama' or toward 'opera as music'. One of the historical examples of opera creation to overcome this fallacy is Puccini's
me>. The composer Puccini and the librettists, Illica and Giacossa, found balance between these two extreme poles, which was made possible by keeping the color of the original novel "scenes de la vie de boh
me" and simultaneously by reconstructing the most operatic characters and story. Their strategies, which can be summerized as 'simplification', 'romanticization and re-creation of characters', and 'realistic description of original atmosphere'. There strategy of adaptation and the 'episodic' feature as the outcome can be a good example for creators of new opera works.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.081
Chongsanbyeolgok is one of Goryeo songs which might be composed in Goryeo dynasty, the composer of which is not known as well as other Goryeo songs. Balsang songs is structured with eleven songs that has been composed newly by King Sejong in Joseon Dynasty for using at Jongmyo (royal ancestral shrine), Johoe (royal audiences), performance, Gangbo is one of 11 songs in Balsang. In Sejongsillok, it is written that Balsang was composed by taking the melody and rhythm of gochwiak (processional music) or hyangak. Thus, it is interesting to know how gochwiak and hyangak, especially Chongsanbyeolgok affected structure and rhythm of Gangbo. As an analytical result of Gangbo and Chongsanbyeolgok, Gangbo consisted of 48 Haeng(line) repeated Chongsanbyeolgok's melody (10 Haeng) by three times. That is, 1-16, 17-32, and 33-48 Haeng of Gangbo excerpted from Cheongsanbyeolgok's melody, and those melodies of Gangbo are same or similar to Chongsanbyeolgok. In this report, Gangbo, one of Balsang's musics in Jos대n Dynasty is proven to be excerpted from the melody of Chongsanbyeolgok in Goryeo Dynasty and repeated.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 92~101
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.092
Hallyu in Malaysia is considered to be in the growth stage as in countries such as Philippine, Myanmar, Hungary, and Uzbekistan. In the growth stage, Hallyu becomes increasingly popular and familiar to the general public and the sales of Hallyu-related products starts to increase. The purpose of this research is to compare how Hallyu is perceived among Malaysian youths and adults. Analysis is carried out using FGD. The two groups are asked about what they think of Korea and the success of Hallyu, how much interest they have in foreign cultures in general, and how they come into contact with them. Based on these results, problems currently facing Hallyu and possible solutions are examined. The analysis shows that the interest in Hallyu among Malaysians varies according to age and gender. Both male and female participants in their 20's have shown a much greater interest in Hallyu than the participants over 30's. But Malaysians are known to be relatively open-minded about accepting foreign cultures, and this is reflected in the current study. They view the popularity of Korean drama, movies, and music as a trend, rather than being intolerant of them. There is no concern for negativity toward Hallyu in Malaysia, but it is likely that Hallyu may be replaced by another foreign culture unless its influence is constantly maintained in the area. Therefore, it is essential to develop measures and models to not only retain, but strengthen Hallyu's influence.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.102
To date, the technology competence and design have been understood as the pre-requirements required in the midst of unlimited competition age. It is true that the most of the companies handle the practical or the aesthetic part of the product individually especially in the field of ceramic industry. Accordingly, it is difficult to create the identity of the company. However, the Rosental Co., Ltd in Germany had acquired the corporate identity already by means of the creative process and the design as well from the middle of 1900s and it has been reputed as a company producing the products through the unique design management. Especially, the identity of Rosental has been formed more uniquely with "jury system" verifying not the design results but the development process, independent brand marketing and the experimental mind such as the collaboration with the pure artists. Especially, the participation of the artists to the design development enables to evaluate the ceramic products not only as the simple products for daily life but also as the luxury goods for appreciation and collection. In addition, Rosental shows that the corporate identity may be created not only with the products simply but also completed with the internal external factors of the company through design management skill.

As craft is representing the historical culture of one country based on the old cultural characteristics and traditions of the regions in our life and is also representing the contemporary cultural culture, the interest in the crafts is becoming bigger and bigger as days pass by. However, despite this potentiality for growth, the craft that we encounter is not reflecting the ever-changing environment of the times, is failing to go beyond the folk art industry level of 1970s to 1980s. Although most of the industrial craft corporations have highly developed craft technology, but the products are not sublimated into marketable products. Also, so far schemes for development of industrial craft have not been many and studies on industrial craft in a sense of the design management have not been performed. Accordingly, this study intends to survey the effect of the design management strategy on the industrial craft product purchase intention in the industrial craft. The main contents comprehended in the study process are as follows. The design management strategy affects the industrial craft product purchase intention. Among the lower elements of the design management strategy, which are cost reduction-oriented design strategy, image-oriented design strategy and the market-oriented design strategy, the image-oriented design strategy and the market-oriented design strategy showed to affect the industrial craft product purchase intention. Especially, the image-oriented design strategy showed to affect the industrial craft purchase intention more than the market-oriented design strategy does.

It is the fact that Korean police has not focused on establishing identity but focused on establishing system due to the war under the confused situation which accepted police system of continental law in the period of Japanese Colony and then accepted the police system when being governed by USA. Afterward, as political, economic, and social atmospheres outside became stable, police identity, the philosophy of police activity through internal introspection in order to orient police activity in modern society, is needed. However, most of approaches for establishing police identity have focused on phased measurement by emphasizing to find major variables. Such identity of police organization through certain measurement study could not only carry out replication but also showed its limit to internalize ideal identity. Therefore, this study analyzed the reflectivity of police activity according to how it depends on certain means and depending means as a recognition to internalize the identity in order to discuss the formation of necessity and approach in establishing police identity, and suggested its results.

Ryu, Sang-Il ; Lee, Min-Kyu ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 143~154
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.143
This study reviewed reorganization of bureaucrats in the beginning of Lee Myung bak's government from the perspective of the relationship between politicians and bureaucrats. In other words, it analyzed the reorganization of central office group of Korean government in 2008 as the relationship between calling to account by politicians and avoiding calling to account by bureaucrats. Conclusively, first, separation or abolition of a certain organization was resulted from calling to account by president (the ruling party). Second, merging organizations was done because president wanted strong control on that agency or he wanted to realize presidential election pledge (policy) through the agency. Third, if an organization was not changed even though it was selected as the target of abolition, it meant that the organization succeeded in defense. As seen from the above cases, it was found that politicians and bureaucrats played a kind of game for reorganization of government organizations. First of all, if politicians succeeded in calling to account, the bureaucratic organization was separated or abolished. If bureaucrats succeeded in self defense, the organization became expanded. Finally, if both parties were even, corresponding organizations would not have changes.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.236
This study examines the impact of school violence on South Korean students' psychological well-being. The research is designed to analyze how different types of experiences of school violence-victim, perpetrator, victim-perpetrator, and non-involvement-influence students' suicidal impulse and sense of happiness. Empirical data was gained from a national-scale survey conducted by Social Development Research Institute at Yonsei University in 2013, and was analyzed using binary logistic and multiple regression methods. Findings suggest that any types of experiences of school violence had significant effect on suicidal impulse. In particular, the likelihood of victim-perpetrator to experience suicidal impulse was 7.1 times stronger than non-involvement. However, the effect of experiences of school violence on students' sense of happiness was insignificant. While the impact of school violence on sense of happiness among victims and victim-perpetrators was significant, its impact among perpetrators proved insignificant. Rather, stress factor-in particular, stress from peers-had more significant impact on the level of students' happiness. This study contributes to understanding the multiple effect of school violence by examining both negative and positive dimensions of psychological well-being.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.260
Gender role identity is a key subject toward adaptation in later life. In this paper, we tried to understand the specific types and characteristics of gender role identity in view of older men. The research collected and examined 40 representative descriptions representing gender role identity, including 20 for masculinity and 20 for femininity from 40 older men. We obtained four types of gender role identity of older men from this research. "Powerful-expressive type" is energetic and reveals his brave and dominant tendency when they are working. "Powerful-taciturn type" is strongly independent and has a firm conviction, but they do not express those characters and remain silent. "Powerful-paternal type" handles his work with a driving force, and has a tender character. "Paternal-caring type" finds his own worth in life by caring for his family and children, and considers others more than himself. Future research is needed to verify how the types of gender role identity are linked to psychosocial adaptive aspects, health behaviors, mental and physical health.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.281
Based on surveys of Busan residents, this study aimed to analyze general perception: radiation knowledge, recognition of the standard of knowledge, radiation benefits, recognition of the risks of nuclear power, collection of information on the Fukushima nuclear accident, recognition of changes before and after the Fukushima nuclear accident, and the path of collecting information about nuclear power and radiation. This analysis was based on 414 people who reside in Busan metropolitan city. It has been found that the Busan metropolitan city residents acknowledged the necessity of radiation in principle, however, most have negative awareness relating to safety. It is assumed that this negative awareness is a result from past nuclear power plant accidents, rather than being based on their own knowledge of radiation. Therefore, it is considered that efforts to change people's awareness necessitate education of the public. This can be done via media, widening the range of people's knowledge, and furthermore, promoting changes within people's awareness and perspectives.

This study aims to examine the level of fear and the influential factors affecting their dental fear and to utilize the result as the basic materials in the dental management. The subjects were the students from a middle school located in Cheongju-City. The school was selected by convenient sampling and self-answered questionnaire was filled in by the students for a week from December 19th 2011. The survey result showed that 77 male students and 169 female students(total 246 students) answered 'yes' to the question 'Have you ever felt fear when you visited a dentist?' among 475 students who had visited a dentist in the past. The distribution of responses in each category of fear was examined by frequency analysis. The study results showed significant difference in the item of 'causing irritation during the dental treatments' between male students and female students (p<0.05). Converting the level of fear into scores after marking the answers, the score of male students was 52.0 points and the score of female students was 58.53 showing the score of female students was significantly higher in statistics. Moreover, the fear score of female students for the category 'causing irritation during the dental treatments' was also significantly higher in statistics(p<0.05). Therefore, these results should be reflected to the dental care environments in order for the adolescent to reduce the dental anxiety and fear.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.305
This study analyzed the oral status after recording the images by using QLF-D with targets of 38 youth people with hearing impairment and hearing language impairment. In order to investigate the state of oral hygiene, plaque index (O'Leary index) and contents of investigation of the state of the teeth included the number of sound teeth, the number of caries teeth, dental caries experience and the number of filling teeth. The following results were obtained. First, women lacked the management on plaque and had more caries teeth compared with men. In terms of impairment classification, subjects with both hearing and language impairment lacked the management on plaque and had more caries teeth. Second, subjects who did not get an oral exam for one year had more caries teeth. Oral hygiene score was the highest with the brushing time for 3-4 minutes. The number of sound teeth was increased as the brushing time was increased. In addition, the oral hygiene management time was the highest when cleaning the teeth, gums and tongue at the same time. Third, it was shown that the satisfaction of oral health education by using the new equipment was high. As a result of this study, in order to improve the oral health level of impaired students, they shall be trained to manage their teeth by themselves and educated to increase their motivation and practice. Thus, it is thought that various approaches which are differentiated from existing methods are required to be tried.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.344
The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of FRB's policy rate adjustments on the 10 years Korea Treasury Bond (KTB) market. Our results are summarized as follows. First, it is found that the FRB's policy rate adjustments are statistically significant positive impact on the 10 years KTB yield. Based on projection, the 10bp increases in FRB's policy rate generates 7bp higher in 10 years KTB yield. Second, the result from after the Lehman bankruptcy in '08 is found to be statistically significant, while that of before financial crisis is not. Third, the variable, in which consistent with yield difference between the 10 years UTB(US Treasury Bond) and the 10 years KTB, is found that is statistically significant positive impact in 1% significance level. And also given that Brunner(2000) exhibited that the Federal Fund Rate innovations are found to impact on other economic variables through the impulse response, the 10 years KTB yield is found to respond to innovation in the Federal Fund Rate up to about 12 months.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.410
Long-term behavior analysis considering construction sequence should be performed in the design and the actual construction of reinforced tall buildings. Most of the analytical studies on this subject, however, has not been applied directly to the structural design and the construction caused by the simple approach. As the axial force redistribution of shores and columns is time-dependent, the actual construction sequence with the placement of concrete, form removal, reshoring, shore removal, and the additional load application is very important. Object-oriented analysis program considering construction sequence, especially time-dependent deformation in early days, is developed. This system is composed of input module, database module, database store module, analysis module, and result generation module. Linkage interface between the central database and each of the related module is implemented by the visual c# concept. Graphic user interface and the relational database table are supported for user's convenience.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.440
Recently corpus linguistic analyses enable researchers to examine meanings and structural features of data, that is not detected intuitively. While the potential of corpus linguistic techniques has been established and demonstrated for non-literary data, corpus stylistic analyses have been rarely performed in terms of the analysis of literature. Specifically this paper explores keywords and their role in text analysis, which is primary part of corpus linguistic analyses. This paper focuses on the application of techniques from corpus linguistics and the interpretation of results. This paper addresses the question of what is to be gained from keyword analysis by scrutinizing keywords in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.467
Micro-teaching is one of instructional methods to improve teaching skills whereby teachers present short sessions and receive feedbacks on their performance. In this research, we developed the web based micro-teaching system for more efficient and effective teacher training by placing videotaped session and peer feedbacks near rather than far from each other on the screen. We analyzed previous studies related to the micro-teaching system, and interviewed pre-service teachers to find some suggestions. Based on this analysis, we drew design principles and developed web based micro-teaching system, which helps teachers to plan instructional strategies, to reflect teaching skills, and to participate in peer assessment. We hope that the system will be useful to not only teacher training but also other fields such as presentation or interview skills.

Lee, Kye-Youn ; Cho, Mi-Hui ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 13, issue 9, 2013, Pages 495~503
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2013.13.09.495
The purpose of this study was to investigate how Korean speakers produce English vowels. Twenty one Korean learners produced the vowels [i, ɪ, eɪ, ɛ, æ, ɑ, ʌ, ɔ, oʊ, ʊ, u] in bVt or pVt forms of real words. Acoustic measurements were conducted for the vowel formant frequencies (F1, F2) and duration. Results showed that Korean learners tended to produce the vowel duration longer than native English speakers. Also, the front vowels produced by Korean participants tended to be produced at the more frontal part of the tongue. In addition, Korean participants distinguished the tense and lax pairs not through quality(F1, F2) but through vowel duration. This is different from the native English speakers in that they differentiate tense and lax pairs by quality(F1, F2) as well as vowel duration. Based on these results, pedagogical implications are discussed.
