Depth Image based Chinese Learning Machine System Using Adjusted Chain Code
Kim, Kisang ; Choi, Hyung-Il ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 545~554
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.545
In this paper, we propose online Chinese character learning machine with a depth camera, where a system presents a Chinese character on a screen and a user is supposed to draw the presented Chinese character by his or her hand gesture. We develop the hand tracking method and suggest the adjusted chain code to represent constituent strokes of a Chinese character. For hand tracking, a fingertip is detected and verified. The adjusted chain code is designed to contain the information on order and relative length of each constituent stroke as well as the information on the directional variation of sample points. Such information is very efficient for a real-time match process and checking incorrectly drawn parts of a stroke.
Depth-map Preprocessing Algorithm Using Two Step Boundary Detection for Boundary Noise Removal
Pak, Young-Gil ; Kim, Jun-Ho ; Lee, Si-Woong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 555~564
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.555
The boundary noise in image syntheses using DIBR consists of noisy pixels that are separated from foreground objects into background region. It is generated mainly by edge misalignment between the reference image and depth map or blurred edge in the reference image. Since hole areas are generally filled with neighboring pixels, boundary noise adjacent to the hole is the main cause of quality degradation in synthesized images. To solve this problem, a new boundary noise removal algorithm using a preprocessing of the depth map is proposed in this paper. The most common way to eliminate boundary noise caused by boundary misalignment is to modify depth map so that the boundary of the depth map can be matched to that of the reference image. Most conventional methods, however, show poor performances of boundary detection especially in blurred edge, because they are based on a simple boundary search algorithm which exploits signal gradient. In the proposed method, a two-step hierarchical approach for boundary detection is adopted which enables effective boundary detection between the transition and background regions. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms conventional ones subjectively and objectively.

We have various e-commerce like on-line banking, stock trading, shopping using a PC or SmartPhone. In e-commerce, two parties use the certificate for identification and non-repudiation but, the attack on the certificate user steadily has been increasing since 2005. The most of hacking is stealing the public certificate and private key files. After hacking, the stolen public certificate and private key file is used on e-commerce to fraud. Generally, the private key file is encrypted and saved only with the user's password, and an encrypted private key file can be used after decrypted with user password. If a password is exposed to hackers, hacker decrypt the encrypted private key file, and uses it. For this reason, the hacker attacks user equipment in a various way like installing Trojan's horse to take over the user's certificate and private key file. In this paper, I propose the management method to secure private key of PKI using One Time Password certification technique. As a result, even if the encrypted private key file is exposed outside, the user's private key is kept safely.

In this paper, we describe a symbolization analysis of a Diamond World Mandala animation. The mandala means the basic idea of the esoteric Buddhism. The Diamond World Mandala has a very high value as cultural archetype due to have better specific meaning and aesthetic quality than other mandalas. Most researches of Buddhist cultural contents have focused on cultural assets restoration and abstract discussion on contents industrialization until now. However researches on contents directly delivering Buddhism scriptures' meanings are insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze concept of mandala and symbolical meaning of appeared elements in mandala rather than theoretical development appropriateness of mandalas' contents, then implement a prototype of a mandala animation. The animation is made of intangible culture such as an intellectual legacy of mankind, and its applications are as follows; education service for Buddhist doctrines, and cultural services through easy accessibility of Buddhist culture, etc.
Establishing Plan for Non-governmental Film Classification System
Yang, Young-Chul ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 598~606
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.598
While the United States and Japan have non-government film rating system, Korea and France are still maintaining governmental control process. But the restrict showing rate in Korea does possibly violate the Constitution with no theatre for the movies of that rate right now. No other visual media including broadcasting have any outer classification process before their showing. So we need to improve our system by replacing it with non-governmental system. To establish independent non-government rating system, first of all, the major companies of film industry should get together to set up Korean Classification and Rating Association, to support the Film Rating Board. The most important thing is that the board operates independently. Government can support art cinemas financially with rating fee. Juvenile protection groups have to keep watch on the process of the board going fairly as well. The chief obstacle for non-governmental rating system is the fact that major companies don't want to get it. But continuing efforts to find any rational way is worthy enough.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.618
A photograph used in a film poster summarizes the story of the film that lasts for around two hours. The image must contain a picture that represents the story and text including the title, with various design elements composed in a harmonious way. However, given that a photograph is the most noticeable element in a film poster, this study aims to examine the function, role, and types of a film poster and analyze poster photographs. Currently, there are companies specialized in photography for film posters, but sometimes recognized photographers are commissioned to take a photograph that will be used for a film poster. Hein-kuhn Oh actively produced such photographs in the early and mid-2000s, and this study deals with 'how the photographs recreate the content of the films' focused on three selected photographs taken by him. Also, There were commonalities found between the tree photographs and Oh's personal portrait photographs, which were then analyzed from the photographic aesthetic point of view. The three selected works are:

Narrative and Music of Changgeuk Madame Ong
Shin, Sa-Bin ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 639~654
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.639
What is noticeable in Changgeuk Madame Ong is that for "narrativization," a main character is replaced with Madame Ong and her mother and a reinvented story as a result thereof is the female liberation from oppression. The director sought for the completeness of the narrative with a plot line created (i) by daringly deleting the latter half (episode relating to Gangsoe's death), which was a persistent problem unsolved both in the original and its derivative contents, (ii) by diluting Gangsoe's patriarchal authority and thereby creating the ending of endless love and the fruition of love, and (iii) by severing the link between Madame Ong's doomed fate of widowhood and Gangsoe's doomed fate of death by the violation of a taboo (the key factors of the original story) and at the same time, thereby inserting the doomed fate of death by Jowang (god of fire), declaring a war against jangseung (Korean traditional totem pole), the aesthetic structure representing "fictionization," and enabling a female character to gain love, fame and life through free will and spirit of resistance. The director achieved a remarkable success in terms of composition by (i) taping into a variety of genres of music, (ii) by maximizing the effect of Madame Ong's solo, (iii) by strengthening the "uniqueness of each part" through chorus, (iv) by creating a dramatic atmosphere for the change of scene, (v) by applying a dual variation of tension (resistance theme) and relaxation (freedom theme), etc.

Recently, many organizations are utilizing the team system. However, researches on a technique for efficient and effective feedback to improve a team performance is few. This study compared the relative effects of individual and group feedback on the quantity and quality of work performance. The task was to type English documents on a PC computer and both the number of words typed (quantity) and the percentage of correctly typed words (quality) were measured. Mixed design was adopted and 48 participants were randomly assigned to either individual or group feedback condition. Each group consisted of three participants and completed four sessions together. Under the individual feedback condition, each participant was provided with information on his/her own work performance, while under the group feedback condition, three participants were provided with information on their total work performance. Results showed that both feedback were effective to increase the quantity of performance. However, the effect size of treatment was more high under the group feedback than individual feedback. In addition, the accuracy of typed words was significantly improved only under the group feedback condition. Therefore, the group feedback was more effective and efficient than individual feedback to increase team performance. However, more studies are needed to generalize these results, especially, it is necessary to consider the cultural differences and type of task in the future studies.

Ha, Chul-Seung ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 665~673
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.665
The Korean film market has revved up against American movies and the movie industry has continued to grow even though Korea is a small country. However, most production staffs who are responsible for practical business of film production get wages that fall short of the inflation rate and minimum wages as temporary employees. And there's the atmosphere that they try to leave film sites on the first opportunity. This study finds that the cause to leave film sites is attributed to perception gaps about the hardworking character and labor which occur in the process that production staffs enter the movie industry and participate in film production as well as poor surroundings. And it should establish staffs' hardworking character and recognition as workers to them by reorganizing the current curriculums which approach movies from the only artistic viewpoint in the departments related to movies and images that hold a large majority in their majors, establishing the concept of work according to participation in film production to potential production staffs, and changing their recognition to improve the elements that they leave the sites.
Sexual Identity on the Personality of Marxism
Kim, Yeoung-Sook ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 674~682
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.674
The personality in Marx's philosophy can be defined as an 'activity on the basis of social relations'. This concept suggests two significant implications to the difference of sexual identity between the sexes. First, according to Marx's philosophy the personality is partially influenced by the ideology. Freud's theory of Oedipus is founded on the patriarchal culture including the ideology. Freud's concept of personality ignores that aspect. That's why Freud's theory of Oedipus complex can be criticized. This is because of his ignorance of the affecting power of male chauvinism in patriarchal society. Second, more importantly and definitely, the difference of activity, especially labor, that is, male's social labor and female's private labor, has influenced the difference of the personality of both sexes.

This research analyzed acceptability of local public enterprise management assessment targeting Chungcheongnam-do direct management enterprises. To do this, this research analyzed influence with acceptability of local public enterprise management assessment by composing the area with 5 aspects related to local public enterprise management assessment. More differentiated strategy is required to operate management assessment efficiently, since direct management enterprises have different shape from other public enterprises in respect of organizational structure. In case of water and sewage, it tends to be difficult to return the result of management assessment to the local government organization, so that managers' interest and effort is necessarily required. Also, responsible person's professionalism is required to raise achievement of direct management enterprise through management assessment, politic management plan for this is necessary. Above all, the structure of incentive for management assessment result is difficult in making intended effect as other public enterprises. Therefore, differentiation of compensation system for assessment result is required.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 818~834
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.818
The purpose of this study is to examine parents' mental model of media environment and children's media use and to provide some educational suggestions. For this purpose, twelve parents of second-graders to fourth-graders sampled in elementary schools were interviewed with three activities such as a word-association experiment, a sentence completion task and a in-depth interview. The result was categorized into 8 elements such as interaction, source of supply and adverse effects. Furthermore, the analysis on the mental model of media use shows that firstly, the parents understand modern media reflects competence while they have a feeling of fear and newness on media themselves. Secondly, the parents show an ambivalent understanding on media use in terms of both negative and positive effects and have a tendency to control them. Another finding is the fact that the parents understand digital media as a representation of both connection and disconnection. Also, the parents realize media as a cause of conflict and as a place for reconciliation as well. Finally, it is showed that media is not only a personal territory but also a part of social system in the parents' understanding. Based on these findings, some interpretations and parents' educational applications are provided in terms of the Meyrowitz(1998; 1999)'s three perspectives on media.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.845
In this study, we measured the dose reaching the OSLD dosimeter by using the regular lead apron, and air gap apron through 3 experiments, and researched the reductive effect of air gap apron on exposure dose based on the 140 keV gamma ray radiating from
, which is the most commonly used in nuclear medicine. As a result, when the gap between the dosimeter and 0.2mm lead plate is 0 Cm, the average value of 10 dosimeters was 0.515 mSv, and when the gap between the dosimeter and lead plate is 20 Cm, the average value of 10 dosimeters was 0.138 mSv, which shows reductive effect of dose as much as 0.388 mSv. When the gap between the dosimeter and 0.5mm lead plate is 0 Cm, the average value of 10 dosimeters was 0.296 mSv, and when the gap between the dosimeter and lead plate is 20 Cm, the average value of 10 dosimeters was 0.075 mSv, which shows reductive effect of dose as much as 0.221 mSv. As we check the cumulative dosage for 3 days, the lead apron without air layer shows average 0.239 mSv, and the air gap apron shows 0.176 mSv, which is actually reduced by 0.062 mSv. As we check the cumulative dosage for a month, the lead apron without air layer shows 0.59 mSv, and the air gap apron shows 0.54 mSv, which is reduced by 0.05 mSv.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 854~862
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.854
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) students' intellctual defects, learning problems, and poor academic achievements seem to be due to significantly lower intelligence compared to the normal students, but rather the characteristic of inability to pay attention at a given time can be seen as the more attributing reason. In this study, a comparison between the ADHD students and the normal students will be performed using a fMRI analysis in order to differentiate the brain function between the two groups during a working memory task performance and to assess the difference in the activated regions of the brain. Clinical survey examinations and fMRI measurements were performed for a group of 26 elementary students from the Incheon area. The stimulus of fMRI was a working memory. Cartography statistically analyzed parameters and the Statistical Package of Social Sciences using single-sample t-test, two-sample t-test, were analyzed by multiple regression analysis, the statistical significance level was p<0.05 in, respectively. The disproportionate developments could be seen in the ADHD students group such as the frontal cortex, parietal cortex, thalamus, and caudate nucleus, among others. In addition, as some students felt the increase in the difficulty of working memory task performance, the orbitofrontal cortex and the hippocampus were activated, which seems to be the result of an effort for looking for an answer. More types of ADHD students needs to be secured as research subjects, and more stimulations for fMRI experiments should be considered as it would be useful in the overall evaluation of brain function.

Medical communication has the effect of increasing the patient's medical treatment satisfaction and medical facility revisit rate through better understanding of the patient, and decreasing the medical law suit rate. One of the methods to enhance medical communication is through doctor coaching. Doctor coaching is a series of coaching procedure that helps the doctors have a better understanding with the patients by enhancing the communication skills of the doctors. The current study analyzed the effect 'coach and coatee's relationship', 'coaching per se', and 'coaching activity' have on coaching satisfaction. As the result, 'coaching activity' related to the coaching program showed the most influence on the coaching satisfaction On the other hand, 'coach and coatee's relationship' and 'coaching per se' did not show any significant influence while 'coach and coatees relationship' even showed negative correlations. Such result gained agreement amongst the doctors about the medical communication enhancement and necessity of doctor coaching and it also implies that intensifying the coaching qualifications and professionalism is necessary for the doctor coaching model. The coach should not only have knowledge regarding the doctor(medical??) communication, but also should endeavor to obtain understanding and knowledge about coaching strategies.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 973~988
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.973
This study investigated one of the contemporary issues in the Korean capital market and two hypotheses of concern were tested on the financial determinants of profitability for the firms belonging to the Korean chaebols during the era of the post-global financial turmoil. The first hypothesis applying conditional quantile regression (CQR) estimation provided the evidence that leverage ratio, fixed asset utilization, and foreign ownership among the nine quantitative explanatory variables, had overall statistical significance relative to the book-valued profitability measure, while additional variables such as a firm's size, fixed and a proxy for the type of exchange market showed their strong impacts on the market-valued profitability indicator. Concerning the formulated 'extended' DuPont system, only two components of EBITDAEBIT and EMULTIPLIER revealed their prominent influence on ROE (Return on Equity) over the two tested periods (the years 2008 and 2012).

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 989~998
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.989
We examine the awareness of the facility managers in Korean universities and colleges over the global climate change and over the national greenhouse gas (GHG) energy target management program via a questionnaire survey. The result shows that the survey participants maintain high awareness on global and national issues including the climate change and the concept of the national GHG management framework. On the other hand, the responsibility of universities and colleges associated to these issues is not recognized as well, showing the necessity for further education. Additionally, important implications on the direction and the major factors that should be considered during the development of a GHG management program for universities and colleges are deduced from the result of the survey. In order to be effective in universities and colleges, a GHG management program must be able to estimate the present level of emissions accurately, to address campus-specific emissions characteristics, and to facilitate ease use for generic users. At the same time, active supporting services including education and promotion should be incorporated. The survey result can be utilized as basic data in guiding the future development of effective GHG management programs.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 12, 2014, Pages 999~1009
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.12.999
In this paper,
emission and storage amount are evaluated for real RC (Reinforced Concrete) underground structure considering
amount including material manufacturing, moving, and construction, repairing timing stage regarding extended service life. Four mix proportions with mineral admixtures are prepared and
diffusion coefficient are obtained based on a micro modeling. Referred to carbonation durability limit state,
emission and storage amount are evaluated, which shows higher initial
emission is caused due to larger unit content of cement and the storage increases with more rapid carbonation velocity. Furthermore various
concentration is adopted for simulation of
evaluation including measured
concentration (600ppm). With higher concentration of
outside, carbonation velocity increases. In order to reduce
emission through entire service life, reducing initial
emission through mineral admixture like fly ash is more effective than increasing
storage through OPC since
is significantly emitted under manufacturing OPC and
storage in cover concrete of RC structure is not effective considering initial concrete amount in construction.

In this article, another literatures that original Korean own red pepper (Gochu) was cultivated from ancient years and there were many other varieties of Gocho in Korea were shown. The first book where Gochu was appeared as written in Hangul (Korean own character invented by King Sejong in 1433) was Hunmongjahoe (訓蒙字會) written by Choi Sejin in 1527. However, many books where cho(椒) indicating Korean red pepper (Gochu) was described before Hunmongjahoe. This is consistent with Hongjaejonso(弘齋全書, 1799). King Jungjo asked Kim Dalsun about the type of Cho(椒) in Hongjaejonso, Kim Dalsun answered to King Jungjo that there are many types of Cho such as Chokcho(蜀椒), Jincho(秦椒), Dancho(丹椒), Daecho(大椒) and Hocho(胡椒). When common characteristics in Chokcho, Jincho, Dancho, Daecho and Hocho in Hongjaejonso were studied, it was found that these Chos had one word in common "Gocho(고쵸)" in the Korean translation. Also several Chos such as Buncho(蕃椒), Nammancho(南蠻椒), Mancho(蔓椒) were characterized as Gocho in ancient books. In conclusion there were several Chos such as Chokcho, Jincho, Dancho, Daecho, Hocho, Buncho, Nammancho, Mancho, etc indicating the various types of Cho, and these were all written as Gocho(고쵸) in the Korean character. An original Korean Gocho should be cultivated in Korean peninsula. Several different types of Cho were imported during the course of trade with foreign countries, and these foreign Chos called as Buncho(蕃椒), Nammancho(南蠻椒), Mancho(蔓椒) by discriminating original Korean Gocho(고쵸). The original name of Gochu(고추) is Gocho. Later the Chinese character for Gocho(苦椒) invented in response to the Korean character of "Gocho(고쵸)" by necessity.
