Reusing Technique of Primitive Motions for Effective Implementation of Complex Action
Choi, Jun-Seong ; Park, Jong-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 1~13
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.001
Apart from the physical realism, the implementation of various physical actions of an agent to respond to dynamically changing situations is essential for the design of an agent in a cyber world. To achieve a maximum diversity in actions, we develop a mechanism that allows composite actions to be constructed by reusing a set of primitive motions and enables an agent to instantly react to changes in the ambient states. Specifically we model an agent's body in terms of joints, and a primitive or composite motion is performed in a real time. To implement this mechanism, we produce an animation for basic joint movements and develop a method to construct overall motions out of the primitive motions. These motions can be assembled into a plan by which an agent can achieve a goal. In this manner, diverse actions can be implemented without excessive efforts. This approach has conspicuous advantages when constructing a parallel action, e.g., eating while walking, that is, two or more parallel actions can be naturally merged into a parallel action according to their priority. We implement several composite and parallel actions to demonstrate the viability of our approach.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.014
Existing attending management systems require a high cost and are lack of convenience. In this paper, we propose a convenient and practical attending management system as follows: First, our system allows us to construct an attendance book in an easy and simple way. A professor does not have to provide the information of students using the small screen of his smartphone. Instead, each student manages his own information via the app designed for a student in our system. Then the professor can construct the attendance book using another app designed for the professor by confirming the requests from the app designed for a student. Second, our system enables a professor to utilize the pictures of students as well as other information of students to have a good relationship with students. Third, our system provides a functionality of checking attendance automatically by calling the names of students via the app designed for the professor. Then the professor has only to match the name with the face of each student. Fourth, our system provides a functionality of checking attendance in a very fast manner. Our system can complete this behavior within a short time since all students can join the attendance simultaneously by using the app designed for the student. Fifth, our system can prevent an illegal attendance easily by utilizing the distance information.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.045
In this study, we analyzed the next generation ITS (C-ITS) technology trends, focusing on the national and international C-ITS projects. Based on the promotion practices of developed countries, we pointed out the lack of linkages with the existing ITS infrastructure. As a way to overcome this problem, we proposed the three-direction to enable the existing ITS infrastructure corresponding to the C-ITS. First one is developing a technique to improve the performance of the existing ITS infrastructure and automate the performance management (Performance-enhanced ITS). Second, developing active sensors or fusion sensor which along with V2X communication technology implement of an active safety driving support system (Safety-enhanced ITS). Third, we need to develop a technology that generate the new advanced traffic data by integrating the collected data from existing ITS infrastructure and nomadic device (Cloud-ITS). By improving the function of the existing ITS infrastructure for adaptation to the new V2X communication environment, we enhanced the efficiency of maintenance performance and would maximize the benefit of the introduction of C-ITS.

Park, Bokuk ; Tak, Haesung ; Lee, Chae-Ho ; Cho, Hwan-Gue ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 54~63
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.054
It is general that the field plant is too large to be monitored by human works. So it is crucial to prepare one automated monitoring system to prevent unexpected accidents in advance. However, most of previous monitoring systems were to be implemented by human programmer independently, so the total developing cost of a set of similar monitoring systems is so high. In order to overcome this disadvantage, we propose a new specification language for meta-description of monitoring system. Also we propose a generation tool for monitoring system with the input meta-description files. Using these meta-description files, we show it is so fast and effective to get a new monitoring system for a specific field plant. In experiment we have shown that our generation system work successfully in newly developing a monitoring system for the water-vessel plant.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 85~92
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.085
This study analyzes what kind of representation strategies make popularity in Silence. As audiences come together in cyber public sphere, 'participatory spectatorship' is made. Its sources are classical narrative mode and collective memories which are the devices to goad audience to anger. Silence reveals self-reflexivity because fact-based film has effect on allowing the audience to be aware of the reality constantly. However, the devices which maximize audience's anger aroused ethical controversy. Silence's unethical expression is the strategy for representing the popularity and the methodology for social ethics.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.102
Intra prediction in HEVC is also significantly improved from H.264/AVC with the increased prediction modes up to 35 that results in increase of the complexity cost. Hence, a fast intra mode decision algorithm is required for real-time applications. A fast intra mode decision is proposed in this paper for further complexity reduction in addition to the RMD (Rough Mode Decision) that has been adopted into the HEVC reference software, referred to as HM, for fast intra prediction. The proposed method reduces the complexity of intra mode decision by limiting the number of search modes in both steps of RMD and the final mode decision. Experimental results show that the proposed method provide about 13.2% encoding time reduction with 1.0% BD-rate increase on average over test sequences in HM 12.0.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 141~152
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.141
The user interfaces of electronic-book (e-book) readers in the e-book market are highly diverse, and this has led to major usability issues. In this paper, we analyze user preferences in terms of feature-setting options and the use of touchscreen actions in the six most commonly used e-book readers for smartphnoes. We identify alternatives for these features, which can enhance the usability of e-book readers, based on these user preferences. The survey results for the feature-setting options show that it is desirable to support at least eight background colors, as well as the ability to specify the color of the background icons. Adjusting the screen brightness using a setting bar with the support of an auto-brightness option is desirable, as in using +/- buttons to adjust the font size, as well as approximately 10 font faces. We find that it is desirable to support fade, slide, scroll and curl page-turing options, in addition to a simple non-animated page-turning effect, and that page movement should be accomplished using a scroll bar with the support of the page movement features by entering a page number, and by using the table of contents as well as bookmarks. The survey results on the use of touchscreen options indicated that it is useful to be able to configure the screen layout of an e-book reader by dividing it into three areas: left, right, and center. And then, when users briefly touch the left and right areas, it is ideal to move to the previous and subsequent pages, respectively; and when they briefly touch the center region, it is desirable to display a touch feature menu. We believe that the results of this study may provide guidance in the design of user interfaces for e-book readers.

China has become a G-2 Superpower country as result of rapid economic growth through the reform and opening-up in these days. It expressed its confidence by helding a few big international events, such as Bejing Olympic Games. Shanghai Expo. Though most Chinese people give their agreement and support to the government, there are serious, ill-concealed political problems behind the curtain in China. As a multi-ethnic nation, China has repeated experience of fragmentation and integration of various ethnic groups through her long history. In spite of top-level political leaders of communist party always concern the issues of separatism very sensitively, China has suffered occasional bloodshed terrorism because of erupting ethnic and religious conflicts. Especially there are many disruption and fear due to the bloodshed and terrorism by a minority race-seperatists of Uighur tribe in Xinjiang province. The Uighur in Xinjiang province is very different from major Chinese Han ethnically and culturally. Although Chinese government has presented various policies in order to suppress the Uighus's desire for seperation, they have not been able to offer a fundamental, satisfying solution. Because we, Korean people face the expansion of possibility of conflicts, such as increasing of foreign workers, multi-cultural families and extremists. At this point, I believe we can learn valuable lessons from Chinese experiences for anti-terrorism.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.227
The private security has achieved a rapid growth by playing an important role in supporting the public security. However, there are some negative results of this rapid growth. Violence committed by the private security is the biggest problem among them. This study discuss the necessity of eradicating violence committed by the private security, present some violence cases, and find solutions to the problem resulting from the cases. If violence committed by the private security is not eradicated, advancement in the private security service industry can not be expected. This study suggests the three possible solutions: reinforcing regulations restricting violence committed by the private security; strenthening the responsibility of the private security company (employer) for supervision and management on the private security guard (employee); establishing the philosophical identity of security service.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 236~246
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.236
Most countries have been promoted the legislative policy for the legal employment, causing a social conflicts by illegal immigrants in any countries. Despite the efforts to alleviate the illegal aliens, there are not nearly enough successful cases, and encounter a social problem about illegal stay worker. China is no exception. At present, the issue of China's foreign illegal employment is expected to be a social problem in the present and the future. However, the legislative policy against immigration control law and illegal foreign employment in China is very neglectful. There is a lack of adjusting rule of law on illegal foreign workers in China, and the remedy is also insufficient. It is necessary to secure a legal right for the protection of the Rights of illegal foreign workers based on the international norms. For this purpose, the illegal foreign workers related law should be enacted, and based on this, administration should be strengthened. The trend of major countries of illegal aliens is centered around an employer hiring strictly regulated. There is a need to have a strengthen regulation on the employer rather than the foreign workers in China. To this end, employer who hire illegal foreign workers should be required to receive considerable disadvantages such as penalties and fines, prison sentences, as well as various kinds of burdens and repatriation costs. It is necessary to run the voluntary repatriation(Freiwillige
) program of illegal immigrants, and there is a need to take action for illegal immigrants who voluntary return home within a certain period are exempt from penalty. In conclusion, China must push ahead with a direction of positive policy in related ministries rather than sit on its hands on the wrong choice or a confusion of an employer and foreign workers with a policy on illegal foreign residents in limbo.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 267~274
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.267
The culture is an integral factor when we deal with the quality of life of members of society, and the cultural right is accepted as the basic right. However, the cultural right of the disabled in our society stays in the conditions of the discrimination and alienation by social prejudices and barriers against people with disabilities, and that results from the lack of understanding as a right. The aim of this study is to further raise awareness about the cultural right of the disabled as the basic human right, make it clear to be a universal right based on that, and insist on implementing 'Affirmative Action' for actualizing the disabled's cultural right to equality. The political measures derived from this study to guarantee and realize the cultural right of the disabled are as follows. First, the target extent of cultural voucher system should be expand to not recipients of national basic livelihood guarantees and near poverty groups, but all the disabled. Second, to take full charge of the cultural support of the disabled as a independent organization, it is necessary to establish Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism-affiliated 'Bureau of Culture for Persons with Disabilities'. Third, the nationwide survey on cultural activities and desires of the disabled periodically is required.

This research is involved in looking into the cognition pattern of social worker position of a fourth-year student majoring in Social Welfare. The purpose of this research is to offer a basic data needed for education of the students who are preparing to get a job of a social worker. For this, applying Q methodology, this research made an objective analysis of their subjective response to social worker position targeting the 30 students in the department of social welfare at the four-year-course college located in Gyeongsangbuk-do and Gyeongsangnam-do. The research results showed that the cognition pattern of the college students' occupational view on social welfare position could be categorized into the three; The first pattern is a "job-skeptic & reality-evasive" type, who tends to perceive the position of a social worker as the one having a lot of job exhaustion and much workload, showing a pessimistic view on the meaning or a sense of mission of a social worker position. The second pattern is a "practice-centered & specialized-job-seeking type" who tends to think much of practical aspects of a social worker job and to seek after the position of a social worker as a specialized job, and at the same time to rely on the policy or system for a social worker position. The third pattern is a "value-oriented & self-achievement type", who tends to think much of the necessity of value or ethics in putting social welfare into practice and also to make much of self-achievement through the channel of a social welfare worker position. Taken together, it might be possibile to turn out professional human resources, but this research thinks it is more necessary to place the education of values of a social welfare worker.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.437
In order to suggest alternative directions for the regional development of Chungcheongbukdo through social network analysis (SNA) methods, this study highlights networking features of Chungcheongbukdo-based top 300 enterprises. In particular, it has paid attention to network relationships among participating enterprises and their basic structure, all of which play pivotal roles in provincial development. Major networking features among Chungcheongbukdo-based top 300 enterprises are dichotomized between structural and positional dimensions. Firstly, in terms of structural approach, this research confirms that both relational density indices and average connectivity levels among key enterprises have been extremely low. Therefore, the exchange networks seem relatively limited. That is, two enterprises could be interconnected after 1.1 stages in average, implying that the most popular types come from direct relationship among participating enterprises. In addition, this research finds that 7 major networks hinged upon 'distributed centralization types' present active information exchange, taking in charge of brokerage roles, all of which have contributed to broader network formation. Nonetheless, as the weight of minor network outweighs that of major network, more active supporting measures should be designed.

Kim, Hak Yong ; Kim, Hak Bong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 14, issue 9, 2014, Pages 529~537
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.529
To establish a foundation to objectively interpret Chosun history, we construct people network of the Chosun dynasty. The network shows scale free network properties as if most social networks do. The people network is composed of 1,379 nodes and 3,874 links and its diameter is 14. To analysis of the network dynamics, whole network that is composed of 27 king networks were constructed by adding the first king, Taejo network to the second king, Jeongjong network and then continuously adding the next king networks. Interestingly, betweenness and closeness centralities were gradually decreased but stress centrality was drastically increased. These results indicate that information flow is gradually slowing and hub node position is more centrally oriented as growing the network. To elucidate key persons from the network, k-core and MCODE algorithms that can extract core or module structures from whole network were employed. It is a possible to obtain new insight and hidden information by analyzing network dynamics. Due to lack of the dynamic interacting data, there is a limit for network dynamic research. In spite of using concise data, this research provides us a possibility that annals of the Chosun dynasty are very useful historical data for analyzing network dynamics.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2014.14.09.538
Systematic studies have been rarely conducted on the acceptance of big data technology despite the technology drawing much attention from academia, industry and general public. With big data technology still being in the infant stage in Korea, a study model was constructed in this paper by integrating the innovation diffusion theory and the task technology fit theory with this technology acceptance model (TAM) as the central framework to make big data technology more readily acceptable in the country, and the aim of making big data technology readily acceptable was expanded as the moderator variable of the TAM. The results of this study showed that "subjective norm" and "task technology fit" showed the most significant effect as the exogenous variables of the TAM. In addition, the "innovative characteristic of the organization" was the significant exogenous variable affecting the intention to accept big data technology to those "technology utilizers" that try to come up with new services or products that are technology-based; however, "subjective norm" was the rather significant factor affecting those simple "technology users". Finally, a significant difference was seen in the verification of mediation effect.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how a joint research network between countries affects the diffusion of technology information and how much countries with high centrality on the network accept new technology and to seek their meaning. With this aim, the joint research network density between countries by year and the number of participating countries were measured using thesis information regarding the secondary battery field and the electric vehicle field, and a regression analysis of relevant variables was conducted. As a result of the analysis, the greater the joint research network density in the secondary battery field, the higher the number of participating countries in a linear relationship. Also, on the joint research network, countries with high degree centrality were discovered to have led development in the mid to large size secondary battery field. Meanwhile, for the electric vehicle field, although there appeared no increase in the network density value, the number of participating countries was found to have increased. This was analyzed that joint research between countries was not a necessary and sufficient condition although it played a crucial role in promoting technology diffusion. Such a result is meaningful in that it verified promoting factors for essential technology diffusion statistically; however, with this research, there exist limitations that the index of a central role on the network was measured only with degree centrality and that only the relationship between two players was measured for network density in interactions between players. Accordingly, it is necessary to carry out research into a method to measure interactions among multiple researchers in the future.

The increasing demand for various mobile telecommunication services calls for more spectrum resource. Considering the scarcity of spectrum resource and the difficulties of development of higher frequency band, the unique way to meet the increasing demand is to maximize the utilization efficiency of the current spectrum resource. Under the circumstances, various spectrum sharing plans have been in recent studies to dissolve the excess spectrum demand. In addition, spectrum efficiency measurement methods become more important to verify the effectiveness of spectrum sharing and estimate the performance of various wireless systems. Our research addresses measurement methods to estimate spectrum utilization efficiency in a rational manner. Based on ITU-R recommendations, various measuring methods for spectrum utilization efficiency are reviewed. Then a queueing based approach is newly presented as alternatives to the current models. By using the proposed model, the spectrum efficiency increment with the adoption of spectrum sharing plans can be estimated more properly.

This study delineates the process of analyzing the illustrations in high school English I textbook. The goal of this study is to shed light on the issues related to producing better English textbooks. The methods include analysis of the illustrations in the textbook developed under the 2009 Revised National Curriculum and surveys of teachers and students' awareness about them. This study classified common features in the illustrations to devise four analysis criteria: cultural aspects, expression styles, expression techniques, and linguistic functions of the illustrations. The questionnaire was made for both teachers and students. The questions in the survey of teachers were about the relevance to the contents, the layout and formation, learners' interest, cognitive aspects, easiness of teaching and learning, and connectivity with language functions. In the survey of students, familiarity, interest level, learnability, favored expression technique and expression material were considered. The result of the surveys showed that the teachability and learnability are key factors in developing illustrations for English textbooks, and they should look familiar to the students.
