DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.001
The purpose of this research is to identify the start and end point of TV program on Web TV. Until now, to replace realtime TV advertisement with Web TV advertisement, human work was the only way. To automatize the process, knowing the start and end point of TV program is the core technology. In this study, I extract 'Black level' between TV program and regard it as start & end point of program. The result of this study is showing that extracting 'Black level' can be a useful tool to define start & end point of TV program. And it will be also use an automatize replacement system for Web TV advertisement.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 9~23
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.009
In this paper, we propose a new RDF index scheme considering the characteristics of large scale RDF data to improve the query processing performance. The proposed index scheme creates a S-O index for subjects and objects since the subjects and objects of RDF triples are used redundantly. In order to reduce the total size of the index, it constructs a P index for the relatively small number of predicates in RDF triples separately. If a query contains the predicate, we first searches the P index since its size is relatively smaller compared to the S-O index. Otherwise, we first searches the S-O index. It is shown through performance evaluation that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing scheme in terms of the query processing time.

As the complexity of urban growth out of people with disabilities are subject to many restrictions. In particular, visually impaired people are not allowed to perceive objects as well as objects around the environment, it suffers from a number of outdoor activities to environmental challenges. But the outdoors environment of the current domestic reality is lacking a lot of facilities to assist the activities of people with disabilities, including the visually impaired. In this paper, we propose a navigation system to help the visually impaired in outdoor activities. The proposed system was applied to test the Jeungpyeong campus of Korea National University of Transportation for the exam.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.031
For battery based real-time embedded systems, high performance to meet their real-time constraints and energy efficiency to extend battery life are both essential. Real-Time Dynamic Voltage Scaling (RT-DVS) has been a key technique to satisfy both requirements. In this paper, we present an efficient RT-DVS algorithm called EccEDF that is designed based on ccEDF. The proposed algorithm can precisely calculate the maximum unused utilization with consideration of the elapsed time while keeping the structural simplicity of ccEDF, which overlooked the time needed to run the task in calculating the available slack. The maximum unused utilization can be calculated by dividing remaining execution time(
) by remaining time(
) on completion of the task and it is proved using Fluid scheduling model. We also show that the algorithm outperforms ccEDF in practical applications which is modelled using a PXA250 and a 0.28V-to-1.2V wide-operating-range IA-32 processor model.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.044
The purpose of this study is to analyze the images of children and adults that is reflected in TV commercial advertisements. For this purpose, 241 public TV advertisements were collected from the domestic ads information sites. The analysis criteria used for this study was the one modified from the ads analysis tool developed by Young-hee Ha(2011). The results showed that the number of ads employing the child model was varied according to the product item. The child model appeared the most in the ads for food/beverage and secondly, the ones for computer/electric home appliances. Furthermore, the child model behaved very similarly to the adults in the ads, especially in the aspect of positive communication. And both adult and a child models tended to have the main role in ads. Regarding the relationships among model characters, cooperative relationship between an adult and a child appeared the most and there were lots of family relationships. The results imply that a child in our society is becoming a considerable family member referred for making decision in purchasing commercial products. In addition, it is discussed that the child's image reflected in the ads would have influence on a child viewer's self image.
Evolution of Entertainment Program Format

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 55~63
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.055
One of the most notable changes in entertainment programs has been the gamification since 1991. The comparative analysis of 255 weekend entertainment programs run by terrestrial broadcasters between 1991 and 1998 and between 2008 and 2014 indicates that entertainment programs have emigrated from the variety format to the reality, and that adopted entangled plots than interwoven ones more and more, using mission performances and competition heavily. Further, even within the reality format, different competitive factors and plot composition are adding the diversity in the end results immensely. The interaction among the gamification, plots and competitive factors is quite likely to drive creative changes in the broadcast formats in the years to come.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 64~73
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.064
Describing the filmography of Yong-ho KIM simply in a few sentences is considered nearly impossible. For the last 20 years and longer, KIM has been building up his career energetically as he never lets himself obsessed with any particular boundaries or areas but work on everything from paper advertisements to art galleries, advertising photographs and pure photographs. The Photolanguage personally mentioned by Yong-ho KIM himself is to visualize this imaginary story in a form of photograph, which one would come up with before shooting. When it comes to the advertising photographs, since they are used basically to sell products, they are considered rather temporary, and in addition, they photograph the products mostly under these bright lights with colorful backgrounds behind. However, Yong-ho KIM was recognized for presenting very much different work as he went even beyond these old stereotypes of the advertising photographs. The advertising photographs processed by KIM do more than merely introducing details or functions of some products, but they deliver these values and cultures that consumers can enjoy and gain through these original stories about the products. Of several pieces of KIM's work, this advertisement on Hyundai Card named
was invited to an exhibition by a private gallery after the work was exposed through various media. The work was even purchased, and that was something that had not happened before in the history of the relevant field. When a photograph is purchased, it makes the photograph recognized for its value to be possessed, and when a photograph is displayed, it, again, makes the photograph win recognition as an art work. This thesis discusses the Photolanguage found in the works of Yong-ho KIM, one of the most well-known advertising photographers in South Korea. The research inquiries that have been analyzed in the body of the thesis, therefore, are the photographs and language in the digital era, the story-telling advertisements and these works by Yong-ho KIM.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.086
This study is carried out to critically explore the direction of the improvement of the protection clauses of minor artists which is the core of Popular Culture Art Industrial Development Act enforced from July 29, 2014. The analysis shows that the law accepted the social issues such as the prevention of procuring minor prostitution, slave contracts(unfair long-term contracts), and third party's profit-extortion. However, the law missing or not specifically stated about age-based differential enforcement of work hours, dangerous acting scenes shouldn't be forced to minors, right to sleep, health, and study, as well as the penalty regulations in violation of each clause. Consequently, the Act's revision and supplementation is necessary to fully meet above insufficiencies referring to foreign practices.

Kim, Young-Kook ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 95~104
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.095
Due to its intrinsic characteristic, exterior bus advertising is exposed to an unspecified number of the general public. Thus it influences on the urban publicness of the city, simply beyond leaving it as a personal marketing activity toward the industry's profit. Seoul city's campaign to improve exterior bus advertising has been to effective in removing advertisements of alcohols, tobaccos, and lascivious contents, however, there still are several advertisements that should be examined from the view point of publicness. For the case of UK, where exterior bus advertising is also actively utilizing owing to its high exposure and effectiveness, they are administrating it by setting up guidelines and regarding the importance of publicness. I also identified the meaning of publicness of exterior bus advertising from the aspects of 'publicness of territories', 'publicness of subjects', 'publicness of reasoning', and 'publicness of procedures'. Through this, I suggested that both commercial right of exterior bus advertising in the private sector and citizen's right of publicness can be harmoniously developed by properly controlling and administrating the exterior bus advertising. Furthermore, artistic approach to the exterior bus advertising from the viewpoint of city environment is expected to elevate the aesthetic possession and the level of design sense of citizens.

Lee, Min-Jae ; Kim, Jin-Young ; Seo, Won-Seok ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 105~113
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.105
This paper investigated Korean popular entertainment (K-entertainment, hereafter) tourism using theory of intention-behavior. Dividing the sample of international visitors to Seoul into the groups of "inclined actors", "inclined abstainers", and "disinclined abstainers," we examined the factors affecting such a division. The results showed that between the inclined actors and the inclined abstainers, there was no significant difference in the years of exposure to K-entertainment contents or the frequency of going to K-entertainment performance in the past. In contrast, the inclined actors were found to have a greater level of knowledge, ability, and cooperation compared to the inclined abstainers. In addition, we found that the K-entertainment performance in Korea was perceived as a substitute, rather than a complement to the performance held elsewhere in the world. Our findings suggest that interests in K-entertainment alone are not sufficient to drive the international visitors' intention to the action of attending K-entertainment performance during their visit to Korea. To this end, this study implies that it is necessary to design attractive tourism packages that include K-entertainment performance.

Song, Minho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 114~122
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.114
This study has a main purpose on discussing the issue how the construction of film narrative will be changed by audience's desire to intervene into film narrative through the active participation, out of watching a film passively in movie theater. Compared with the collective theatergoing experience in big screen was defined as the past cinematic identity, the absolute value of movie theater fragmented increasingly in the era of media diversification facing with digital media convergence. As this situation can be compared with "the author's death" Roland Barthes predicted on the mono-media of the book, thus, we are to take the time to discuss the new emerging 'movies'. The most important thing in this discussion is the aspect of the transformation of narrative in the future screening. Especially, while 3 act structure and configuration evoking a catharsis in film narrative are elements defining aspect of the past narrative, then, the future narrative in film will change to the structure interacting with audience actively. This paper had a discussion how could be possible the aucience interaction in only movie valuing the passive experientiality uniquely in screening over the other media through investigating the attempts of interactive cinema so far and the possibility of future.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.123
The purpose of this study was to find out the reason why the integration policy of local government in 2010~2014 has failed in the light of multi-dimensional model including normative, structural, constituentive, and technical dimension. Central government pushed integration policy of local government focused on increasing economic efficiency based on the theory of economy of scale on 16 regions and 36 local governments. Only one region(Cheong-Ju and Cheong-Won), however, completed integration procedure in 2014. Although most regions don't have common value on integration, and cultural, political ties in normative and structural dimension, central government pushed the integration policy. Futhermore central government failed to coordinate various interests of the participants and design incentive system including demands of local residents in constituentive and technical dimension. Based on this study central government should consider these policy implications when it propel the integration policy of local government in the future.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 152~158
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.152
The Korean Government said that it issued advance notice of the amendment of medical act article 34 on Oct. 29 of last year. Another issue at the heart of controversy in 2009 was telemedicine between doctors and patients for the purpose of helping those in the dead zone of medicine and supporting medical service industry. It failed, however, to enact legislation due to the strong opposition from medical profession as well as the apprehension about abuse of medical treatment and the rise of medical expenses. To amend and legislate a law, it is needed in advance to examine and analyze the rationality, propriety and feasibility of it. In particular, when it comes to amending a medical act, the validity should be acknowledged only when the right to life and health of the people is protected. Medical act article 34 is in the state of drift because of stiff resistance from medical and civic groups. This study purpose of analyze and to explain the amendment of recent proposition of Medical Act Article 34 and to suggest possible improvement methods.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.171
This study aims to explore the realities of life and the utilizing experience of housing improvement service among the vulnerable living in the indecent house. For this purpose of this study, we conducted in-depth interview with nine interviewees. As the result of this study, we figured out that the vulnerable living in the poor house had experienced psychological withdrawals, restricted of social activities, health problems, and feelings of insecurity. However, they could not afford to improve their houses because they were living below or near the poverty line. Local government provided the housing improvement service to cope with this problem. The people received this service gave positive reviews. Since their residential environment was improved, they felt easiness, strengthened social relationships, and expected a warm winter. Despite of 'thankful service', the housing improvement service had some limitations. Because of the limited budgets, full-scale construction services were unfeasible. Also we figured out it is necessary to make a change in housing policies for the people living in the poor houses. In the conclusion, we discussed and proposed the policies and practical suggestions.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.264
While the method of prioritization has been practicing in the community needs-based programs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of community health planning, it has not been systematically used. This study aims to suggest more sophisticated method of prioritizing. Based on the analysis of 81 community health plans which adopt prioritizing method, this study tried to examine their methods and criteria and evaluate their adequacy. In the prioritization process, projects themselves, rather than health problems, were commonly adopted for the subject of the analysis. The most used was the Basic priority rating, followed by the Prioritization matrix. Looking at the size of health problem among the prioritization criteria, the prevalence for chronic diseases and the proportion of people with health problems for health behaviors, mainly were used as indicators. Along with the size of health problem, other factors such as the degree of seriousness of health problem, and the effectiveness of intervention have been used as the criteria of prioritizing, not fully supported by objective data base and the clear standard of scoring. In the prioritization, the analysis need to be limited only to health problems, and the scoring criteria for each health problem area be presented.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.276
The aim of this study was to identify the impact of community factors on the community-level Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) in Korea. This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 2012 using secondary data(n=209) of the Korean Statistical Information Service. The framework was based on community factors provided by the International Council of Science (ICSU) and community factors were categorized based on six aspects. Multiple regression was applied to community factors depending on the community EQ-5D index. Smoking rate, "Good" self-rated health rate, water and wastewater coverage rate, and financial independency rate were significantly and positively associated with the EQ-5D score. Net migration rate(more move out than move in), obesity rate, unmet needed health care rate, and community type(rural than urban) were significantly and negatively associated with the EQ-5D score. This study identifies association for the impact of community factors on the community-level HRQOL and can provide useful evidence for development of community health promotion policies.

The purpose of this study, using 3D printer, was tried to fabricate the short arm cast of mesh types that can be hygienic and adequate ventilation with a good radiography. We used the multi channel computed tomography (MDCT) with three dimension printer device of the fused deposition modeling (FDM) techniques. The material is used a degradable plastic (poly lactic acid, PLA). Three-dimensional images of the short arm were obtained in the MDCT and then make the three-dimensional volume rendering. Three dimension volume rendering of the short arm is implemented as a tomography obtained in MDCT. Virtual mesh type cast model was output as three-dimensional images is designed based on the three-dimensional images of the short arm. As a results, the cast output by 3D printers were able to obtain excellent radiograph images than the conventional cast, and then it can decreased itching with unsanitary, and can break down easily to the cast. In conclusion, the proposed virtual mesh type cast output by 3D printers could be used as a basis for future three-dimensional printing cast productions and offered help to patients in the real life.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 316~323
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.316
In this study, we analyzed radiation dose and MTF with setting of Ion chamber and changing kVp so that we are able to suggest acquiring optimized diagnostic images and minimizing patient dose. we assumed right lateral decubitus position among chest decubitus projection and set 7 combination of Ion chamber. By changing kVp(100, 110, 120, 130kVp), we exposed x-ray five times respectively and calculated average value after measuring entrance dose. we input the entrance dose value to PCXMC Monte carlo simulation tool and calculated organ dose and effective dose. Then we did physical image evaluation with MTF for the purpose to compare image quality. As a result, the high kVp, entrance dose is reduced. As change of ion chamber, when selecting second ion chamber, both organ dose and effective dose were the lowest. In contrast, selecting first ion chamber was the highest. MTF is superior to set second Ion chamber and using 120 kVp. Consequently, when taking chest right lateral decubitus using Digital radiography, the optimized combination which have both reducing dose efficiently without declining image quality and aquring good qualified image is set 120 kVp and selecting second Ion chamber.

Lee, Hye-Nam ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 324~330
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.324
When diagnostic ultrasounds are used, an ultrasonic transmission media is used to effectively transmit the ultrasonic energy. Types of ingredients of polymer hydro gel, emulsion, and oil gel were compared with commercialized products by measuring characteristics of ultrasonic transmission media such as skin lubricity, skin moisturizing, and dryness speed which were contained in each different media. The mean friction coefficient measured to investigate skin lubricity showed high in the agent containing a large amount of oil, whereas the mean friction coefficient of the low viscosity emulsion did not show a significant difference with that of the polymer hydro gel. The moisture evaporation measured to investigate the dryness speed of the agent showed highest in polymer hydro gel. This showed that the larger amount of oil it had, the less moisture evaporation occurred. For skin moisture measured to investigate moisturizing characteristics of skin, low viscosity emulsion showed high in moisture content, whereas it showed slowest reduction in moisture content. As a type of emulsion appropriately containing water and oil is superior in skin moisturizing and skin tenderness, it is expected to serve as a dosage form of new ultrasonic transmission media.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.331
By comparing and evaluating the neutron dose when running cyclotron in fixed type measuring machine and portable type measuring machine, we performed this study to see if there is any difference between the doses in both measuring devices. We performed correction 3 times for the portable type during the experiment. We measured the values 12 times for each correction, so total 36 times by using the fixed type and portable type once every 2 weeks from June 2012 to February 2014. The statistics for the portable type and fixed type for each experiment showed 0.186, 0.511, and 0.057, which are not statistically significant. Therefore, we have come to the conclusion that unless there is deviation based on the correction period of the portable type, correction of fixed type wouldn't be necessary. Also, reduction of social costs may be achieved if we install an alarm meter, which is relatively low priced compared to the high cost neutron measuring machine, when detecting higher level than the interested standard level.

Folk medicine is traditionally passed down to cure disease, and adverse events (AEs) of folk medicine are any unfavorable and unintended discomforts temporally associated with the use of folk medicine. The aim of this study was to analyze AEs types and risks of folk medicine through the internet news articles. Included in this analysis are all articles on the topic of folk medicine and AE reported in the top 3 online news websites (NAVER, DAUM and NATE) determined by InternetTrend
(www.internettrend.co.kr). It was searched in the last five years (between 1 January 2009 and 28 February 2014). In total, 18 AEs articles of 973 news articles met our inclusion criteria. A total of 27 people were experienced AEs associated with use of folk medicine. Age was from 4 months to 76 years old, and it was occurred in both men and women. Folk medicine that caused AEs in twice or more was therapy that patient taking the dictamnus or aconitum of toxic herbal medicines, vinegar therapy of external use to topical skin, and cupping or bee sting therapy by practitioners. Death as a kind of serious AEs was 11 people, and 10 people were died after treatment by unqualified practitioner. Folk medicine that is popular and widely used in Korea is actively interacted with information on the internet, so it apt to misuse and abuse without guidance of health professionals. Aspects of health care system, we point out that the need for government and medical society establish not only correct health information plan and promotion of risk but also system as reporting and monitoring of AEs by folk medicine.

Jin, Yoon-Hee ; Kim, Sung-Jong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 451~461
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.451
The objective of this research is investigating the mediating effect of job engagement on the relationship between job autonomy and innovative behavior in public organizations. Major findings from Structural Equation Model analysis demonstrates that the variable 'job engagement' took a positive role between job autonomy and innovative behavior. From theoretical point, this result provides the empirical evidence of causal relationship in the three components of attitude-cognition, emotion, and action, which contributes to the advancement of action theory. Some policy implications can be drawn from the empirical findings. Firstly, job autonomy need to be seriously considered as a strategic instrument for the encouragement of innovative behavior. Secondly, job engagement of employees need to be more carefully monitored to stimulate the innovative behavior in the public organizations. In public organizations, enhancement of innovative behavior can not be achieved from institutional arrangements. Provision of job autonomy is more effective method of behavior change than performance management approach.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 475~481
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.475
We use polynomial regression instead of linear regression if there is a nonlinear relation between a dependent variable and independent variables in a regression analysis. The performance of polynomial regression, however, may deteriorate because of the correlation caused by the power terms of independent variables. We present a polynomial regression model for the numerical inversion of PGF and show that polynomial regression results in the deterioration of the estimation of the coefficients. We apply principal components regression to the polynomial regression model and show that principal components regression dramatically improves the performance of the parameter estimation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 506~518
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.506
Recently there are growing needs and demand to enhance 'Unity of knowledge' as the concept of "Creating new value through integration and convergence" is developing rapidly in many different areas in the society. This also has significant implication to education. Especially, it requires paradigm shift in terms of required capabilities and qualifications for the students with science major. To accommodate this trend, Natural Sciences and Engineering's College has been increasing convergence education which focus on cultivating creative and cooperative learning capabilities as well as acquiring fundamental knowledge of individual majors. However, convergence education developed and implemented by Sciences college or liberal education so far has been mechanical combination of knowledge from different academic fields - not effectively integrated and interdisciplinary education. Given this situation, this research is to develop and propose a "convergence education program based on the development of scientific and cultural contents" as an education tool to enhance capabilities to apply and re-create integrated knowledge as well as acquire and learn existing knowledge. Education program developed in this research aims to achieve two different and sequential capabilities. First is to understand 'Science and Technology' and 'Cultural Archetype' which would be essential and useful to create cultural contents. Second is to develop capabilities to convert this understanding into cultural contents - a storytelling capability. This education program is differentiated in that it defines cultural contents as a medium to converge and integrate science and technology and humanities. By leveraging the concept of cultural content and storytelling, this education program would be able to overcome restrictions of existing interdisciplinary approach. Also, this program would encourage students to try in-depth research and new applications, and develop logical and creative thinking.
Data for the Application of Depreciation Method Using the Accumulated Depreciation Rate Function
Sohn, Jinhyeon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 1, 2015, Pages 519~526
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.01.519
This article presents detailed explanations of the depreciation method using the accumulated depreciation rate function(ADRF) proposed by the author previously, for the practical application. ADRF provides a value of accumulated depreciation rate on the total depreciation charge at any given time, therefore it can be used in a time-based depreciation method. Since the depreciation charge of each period can be systematically computed with ADRF, in every case where the charge is constant or decreasing or increasing, we can choose diverse rational depreciation types for the characteristic of every asset. Also, since the ADRF is the continuous function of time, we can compute the depreciation charge with consistency in cases where assets are owned for partial period. However, we should determine the value of parameter of ADRF. We give some data on the problem.
