The Strength of Network Ties in TV Drama Making Project: Performance Implication
Choo, Seungyoup ; Limb, Seong-Joon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 1~12
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.001
This study attempted to verify the influence of strong and weak ties on the performance of project based organizations by examining various tie relationships in the Korean TV drama making industry. The extant literature has suggested that the impact of network ties depends not only on their strength but also the network contexts (i.e., project characteristics). Due to artistic and creative nature of TV drama making, it is hypothesized that weak tie networks among critical human resources would outperform strong tie networks. Empirical results support the hypothesis that weak tie networks indeed outperform strong tie networks in terms of viewing rate of drama.

Choi, Young jun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 13~23
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.013
A study on the `FUN` of TV reality audition programs. "Why are the audience so enthusiastic about the survival audition programs?" "What fun do the audition program audience have?" In order to find the answers for such questions, this study applied `the 4-step fun evolving model` and thereby, categorized audience`s fun-seeking behavioral modes, and therewith, examined how such fun-seeking behavioral modes would change by step over time. As a result, it was found that the audition program audience had faithfully followed the 4 fun types (watching, having, doing and becoming), and that their fun-seeking behavioral modes had changed by step over time in SBS "K-POP START" (Season 3) in 2013. Such findings suggest that the audition program fans accommodated `the fun evolving model.` Their step of `watching` evolved gradually into the step of `having` both on-line and off-line (support of participants/malicious or good-will replies, participation in blogs/twitters, photo materials collection activities) and that of `doing` (application for the jury group, organization of fan club, crazy fan activities, participation in phone voting, etc.), while increasing their fun.

Noh, Kwang Woo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 24~32
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.024
The global success of PSY`s Gangnam Style was mediated through combination of YouTube and SNS. PSY`s success led into some communication scholars` consideration of new international circulation of Korean pop culture (Korean Trend 2.0). In terms of global circulation of pop culture, it is noticeable how users appropriate YouTube channel beyond mere watching music videos and mere international circulation of Korean pop culture. The mode of fan`s activity and appropriation contributes to the expansion of the width and amplification of the volume of Korean popular culture as well. The circulation of pop culture was considered in the level of exchange of tangible commodities such as CD, DVD, and so on until the adoption of digital media and Internet. YouTube has brought new mode in which the international circulation of pop culture is mediated without exchange of tangible commodities but was amplified with the diffusion of network. This study grasps how the mode of users` appropriation contributes to international circulation of pop culture through case studies of some K-pop music videos and international K-pop fans` tribute activities. In terms of theoretical perspective, fandom studies will be examined. In terms of research method, the researcher adopts netnography, a participatory observation on network, to find the feature of fandom and its contribution to the international circulation of pop cultures.

Jung, Su-young ; Choe, Jong-hoon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 33~42
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.033
As smart phones have been increasingly used to access information with bigger screens and higher resolution, smart phones have rapidly grown larger. Even Apple which had stuck to the 4-inch smart phone screen size, released 5.5-inch iPhone 6 plus. In this trend of smart phone enlargement, manufacturers have mostly incorporated one-handed modes to 5-inch or larger phones to keep the convenience of one-handed operation. But most of them provide just smaller screens and are rather complicated to set up after several menus to touch. In this study, this research examined one-handed functions of each smart phone manufacturer to understand problems in the one-handed smart-phone manipulation of web-browsing which is one of the frequent smart phone services. And by investigating smart phone users, this research found out requirements for one-handed web search operation. Based on this examination, the author of this research designed an efficient one-handed interface for mobile web-search without reducing the screen size. Then, to assess the possible usability improvement, the prototype was applied to a large 5.5-inch-screen smart phone to evaluate its performance through observation and surveys and find out manipulation satisfaction and further improvements.

Lee, Kwong-Mo ; An, Kyong-Sok ; Gu, Seung-Hwan ; Han, Hak-Soo ; Choi, Sung-Jin ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 43~53
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.043
This study analyzes economic feasibility of the LED lighting system compare to the halogen. To evaluate economic feasibility of the LED devices, we analyzed the size of theater, current value of the lighting devices in kinds, annual cost and annual cost according to the surface in case of designing stage lighting system with LED using WEELS 2011. Also, to compare energy consumption, we analyzed consumption and amount of electric energy by the surface and the amount of CO2 emission. Data showed that annual cost of the LED devices are highly inexpensive than halogen and now the value is of great. However initial cost of the equipment 200% higher than halogen. Though LED devices are expensive in startup setting, the value of utilization factor is large and depreciation years of LED(30years) are longer than halogen(2years). Therefore, annual cost of LED can make up the minus. Consider the tendency of reducing price of LED devices, we can assume that annual cost of the LED will be lower than halogen devices. Further, in 3years the expense of LED and halogen is reversed.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 168~178
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.168
This article analysis the aesthetics of metal-body of
(1989) and its metamorphosis of dehumanization through visual desires expressed by body images. This paper suggests theoretical analysis based on aesthetic views to understand the underlying meanings. The research categorizes three types of images; surreal image, grotesque image and eros image from the metamorphosis of dehumanization and transformation throughout the film. As the surreal image, the metamorphic process of transformation, demolition, derangement, illusion, and human desire continues to reflect the evil side of a human in everyday life. It also visualizes the images of exaggeration through weakness and bizarre side of metal-body. The grotesque image of body metamorphosis displays and symbolizes double-sides of bizarre and weak side of human in the everyday environment when malformation reaches its peak when Tetsuo finally shows his transforming figure. Finally, the eros image is analogized as a man`s inner self and self-destruction in surreal world and a grotesque figure when overwhelming desire of transforming into rebirth of a perfect metal-body, Tetsuo. The surreal image, grotesque image, and eros image portraits human desires inner and outer-self into visualized image and that represents the means of excessive desire for dreaming of world domination with merging non-organic medium of metal and organic body to create a perfect body-image.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 191~202
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.191
This research aims to analyse gender identity and its internal meanings through the main character, Laurence, of the movie
(2012) directed by French-Canadian film maker Xavier Dolan. Study examines performative gender identity revealed through the fashion images of Laurence who was born biologically as a man; depending on a theory of Judith Butler who represented a parody, repeatability action, and incorporation as an effect of gender identity. Also `Internalization of others` and `Dis-identification` are presented as an internal meanings of Laurence`s gender identity which appeared on his(her) fashion images. Laurence parodies woman`s fashion styles in repetition to obtain feminity as his(her) appearance. His(her) repetitive actions are construing an internalizing others(women) and visualizing a new-self to become a stylized doer. Dis-identification signifies that gender can be reconstructed regarding the differences of the place and the time and reconstructed outside can be analyzed as externalization of internalization. `Becoming a woman` means more than what it sounds like to Laurence. It means a new signification of being a woman or redefining gender identity. That is something can be called a genuine transformation and a grant leap for Laurence.

Commonly, if you use high energy photons above 6~8 MeV nominal accelerator voltage, It lead the photo-nuclear reaction and the generation of photo-neutron are accompanied and these problematic factors are issued in the view of radiation protection. Therefore, in this study analyzed for dose distribution of photo-neutron in radiotherapy room based on MCNPX. As a result, absorbed dose is increased sharply from 10 MV to 12 MV. It was founded that the rapid increasement of photoneutron fluence was related to the absorbed dose at above 10 MV. Also, in case of the recommendation of ICRP 103, the outcome of an exchanged equivalent dose which based on calculated an absorbed dose, showed lower equivalent dose than ICRP 60 by reflecting the contribution of secondary photon for absorbed dose of human body in the low energy band.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.379
This study aims to understand family support and self-efficacy-mediated structural relation of college students` unemployment stress with their adaptation to school life. Findings of the research are summarized as follows. The study looked into how unemployment stress would directly affect self-efficacy, family support and adaptation to school life. It was found that the unemployment stress would have immediate negative effects on the self-efficacy, family support and adaptation to school life. In addition, the study noticed that with both family support and self-efficacy applied as mediating factors, unemployment stress influences college students` adaptation to school life indirectly and negatively. After the investigation on the immediate effects of family support in relation to the self-efficacy, the study indicated that family support has an immediate positive influence on the self-efficacy. In terms of self-efficacy, it appeared to affect adaptation to school life both positively and directly but, its indirect effects on the adaptation to school life was not confirmed. The study failed to find any direct influence of the family support on adaptation to school life but learned that the family support causes an indirect positive effect through self-efficacy, the mediating factor. In conclusion, the study suggests that adaptation to school life improves as long as unemployment stress decreases, while the family support and the self-efficacy are enhanced.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.411
With the rapid increase in the price of house lease, a unique housing form in Korea, a serious social issue has been raised as to the use value of house lease and residence stability of the ordinary people. This study thus aimed to analyze the direct factors that affect lease guaranteed loan and market volatility in order to explore the right direction of financial policy to reduce housing burdens. To this end, the direct variables affecting house lease guaranteed loan, including lease price, transaction price and lending rate, were defined. Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), a time series analysis, was employed to dynamically explain the data. Based on the house lease prices and bank data on loans between January 2010 and December 2014, it was found that the increase in lease price was the direct result of the increase in lease guaranteed loan, not that of the decrease in lending rate or increase in housing transaction price.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 421~431
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.421
This study aims to examine potential labor migration between Korea, China, and Japan by Harris-Todaro model which is enhanced in the presence of expected income differential. The results suggest that Korean labor forces are bi-directionally migrated to China and Japan, simultaneously, and Chinese labor forces have been switched from inflow to outflow. On the other hand, Japanese labor markets are characterized by inflow from Korea, and outflow to China. The nature of labor markets in Northeast Asia have been largely transformed such that inflow of immigrants is gradually intimidated. This is mainly due to the fact that the labor markets are gradually homogenized in this region. To this end, it could be tentatively concluded that the labor markets in Northeast Asia seem to be operated by substitutionary rather than complementary natures.

Kim, In-Sun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 15, issue 6, 2015, Pages 432~444
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2015.15.06.432
This study investigated the effects of job demand-resource variables that appear in a special organizational environment such as a hospital on job burnout and job engagement using the job demands-resources model of Schaufeli & Bakker(2004). And also the study investigated to verify discriminatory mediating roles of emotional labor strategies in the process. The main finding of this study was as follows: Job demands-resources showed a positive relationship in the job burnout and job engagement, and job demands induced surface acting and job resources induced deep acting. However, deep acting showed a positive relationship to job engagement, and surface acting showed a negative relationship with job burnout unlike in previous study results, which was not significant. The results of verifying the meditation model through Boostrap showed that since the two indirect effects were not significant, the meditating role of emotional labor strategies was not verified in the effects of job demand-resource levels on job attitudes, including job burn out and job engagement.

The purpose of this study was (1) to examine the present state of English education for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics preparations, and (2) to identify the need for an English language training program for international sports events. With these goals in mind, the information was gathered from telephone interviews with educational administration officials who were responsible for international sporting events. For the survey, a total of twenty-six participants responded to a questionnaire designed to gauge their self-perceived English instructional needs for international sporting events. The principal results obtained from this study were: the Pyeongchang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games signed an agreement with an official supplier of language training services. In addition, Gangneung city is providing a `Global Leaders` Academy` and English programs for taxi drivers and citizens. The result of the survey shows that the majority of participants reported that an English language training program is essential for international sporting events and it should be different from general English language education.

The present study investigated how culture and art education participants` outcome evaluation predicts the satisfaction of the education by performing the secondary analysis of the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service`s (KACES) survey data. Exploratory factor analysis identified three dimensions(content, management, and resources) of education outcome evaluation, and the regression analysis revealed the factors of outcome evaluation influenced the education satisfaction positively. When the sample was grouped according to prior participation experience and companion [participated alone or with other person(s)], the regression analysis showed the differences of the influences between groups. On the basis of the findings, managerial implications for improvement of the culture and art education programs and suggestions for further studies were discussed.

This study aims to provide suggestions for the development of educational contents on historical events that can solve the existing curriculum`s problems, such as the disproportionate weight given to Western historical events. The study focuses on content ranging from the start of the Agricultural Revolution (7000 BC.) to the start of the Industrial Revolution (AD. 1760). The results are as follows. We used the Delphi technique for deriving global historical events. Among them, 56 historical events were selected as the data for Social Network Analysis (SNA). The results of SNA showed that topics related to Civilization has a high priority. In addition, the results of a coagulation analysis showed the events can be divided into seven groups. The classification criteria is different from the criteria used for the current period. We expect that the suggested framework developed for historical contents will constitute a new approach to historical interpretation through network visualization and linkage analysis.

This study proposes a mobile Augmented Reality (AR)-based "word card" learning tool for children aged 3 to 5. First, this study suggests a learning structure to improve motivation and immersion of learning, Secondly, it designs and implements the user interface applying the proposed learning structure. Also, it designs a content management tool supporting the production of the content so that instructors can easily manage the contents for various learners. This study is conducted by four steps - reference research, design of "word card" learning content for the learner, design of content management tool for the instructor and the effectiveness verification of the proposed content. The proposed content was designed based on an education content architecture for enhancement of immersion and motivation to study. Moreover, it includes an `AR content management tool for instructor` designed to easily update AR education content. The class for six children aged 3 to 5 was given to validate the enhancement of immersion to study. Experiment results showed that the proposed content enhanced the study immersion and that special interaction design for early children was necessary.
