Strengthening self-directed learning ability is established as one of the goals of gifted education in Korea. In addition, it should be noted that self-directed learning can be realized in variety of ways as favorable conditions and environments are fostered to provide gifted education utilizing program. in the recent days. But, gifted learning programs for programming are programmed for information gifted student. Therefore, we have analyzed in this study the effects of improvement on self-directed learning ability of mathematically gifted student through class utilizing app inventor program for self-directed learning ability. Built up from the 4th and 5th grade to elementary math one class for gifted children complete by making math quiz, we use the app inventor to activity. The result of experiment showed very significant difference in the post-survey to less than .002 in the pre-survey in terms of three domains, which are intrinsic motivation, the openness of learning opportunities and autonomy which corresponds to sub-elements of self-directed learning ability. We could verify from the result of the study that mathematically gifted student learning program utilizing app development activity have positive effects on self-directed learning ability of mathematically gifted students.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.009
This paper proposes a multi-view Wyner-Ziv Video coding scheme based on spatio-temporal adaptive estimation. The proposed algorithm is designed to search for a better estimated block with joint bi-directional motion estimation by introducing weights between temporal and spatial directions, and by classifying effectively the region of interest blocks, which is based on the edge detection and the synthesis, and by selecting the reference estimation block from the effective motion vector analysis. The proposed algorithm exploits the information of a single frame viewpoint and adjacent frame viewpoints, simultaneously and then generates adaptively side information in a variety of closure, and reflection regions to have a better performance. Through several simulations with multi-view video sequences, it is shown that the proposed algorithm performs visual quality improvement as well as bit-rate reduction, compared to the conventional methods.

Hallyu in East Europe has been spread since the end of the 2000s and contributed to boost the familiarity and favorability of Korea. Hallyu in East Europe started from Romania and Hungary, Korean dramas and K-Pops spread to Bulgaria. Korea and Bulgaria established a diplomatic relations in 1990; however, people of both countries do not share enough information or knowledge on each other. This study aims to understand the meaning of Hallyu and the ways of building cultural relations through Hallyu based on the cognitions and attitudes toward Korea and Korean culture in Bulgaria. It conducted the Focus Group Discussions(FGD) for 24 Sofia residents in their 20s and 30s. The FGD questions were mainly on the level of familiarity and of impacts of Hallyu in Bulgaria. The Hallyu in Bulgaria is still not so popular although Hallyu has been promoted through the diverse activities of Korean Embassy, Sofia University, Korean language institutions, and the Hallyu fans. The economic and cultural impact of the Hallyu is not yet viable in Bulgaria. In order to be recognized as one of the foreign popular culture in Bulgaria, Hallyu should be promoted with various endeavors for Bulgarian people to experience Korean culture beyond Korean drama and K-Pops based on the understanding of socio-cultural characteristics of Bulgaria. Then, Hallyu will be spread by producing Korean dramas, films, and K-pops reflected by local cultural characteristics in Bulgaria and hybridity of Korean popular culture.

Participatory budgeting has been introduced and proliferated with differentiated types by Local Finance Act which had been revised in 2011. This study aims to classify the types of Participatory Budgeting by participatory institutions and participatory levels and suggest the implications. We have reviewed the participatory budgeting operation ordinances, operating plans and operating systems of 243 local governments. And the participatory budgeting can be divided into five types. First, submission of opinion type found in 100 local governments is characterized by operating without participatory institutions. Second, commission type found in 85 local governments is characterized by having only participatory budgeting committee. Third, regional meeting type found in 21 local governments is characterized by having participatory budgeting committee and regional meeting or only regional committee. Fourth, public-private partnership type found in 30 local governments is characterized by having citizen-government meeting. Fifth, delegated power type found in 7 local governments is characterized by having policy fair or mobile voting, or both. Analysis showed that institutionalization levels of participatory budgeting is not high because many local governments(76.5%) are belong to submission of opinion type or commission type in South Korea. For developing participatory budgeting, participatory institutions, such as citizen-government meetings, policy fair or mobile voting, should be adopted and proliferated in more and more local governments.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.082
The latest development of the Korean drama production industry has been accompanied by the steep rise in the number of players and the contraction of the advertizing market, which have combined to intensify the competition severely. Then, China happened. Entertainment agencies' logical strategic choice to maximize production revenue potential was to secure A-list actors who can sell, pushing up their prices, that process has continued to even compromise the health of the production industry as well as the agencies' financial integrity. The drama production industry, including entertainment agencies, should shift the strategic focus from simple production revenue generation to profit maximization through diversifying revenue sources like securing IP rights.

Um, Myoung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 6, 2016, Pages 135~150
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.135
This study aims to investigate how perceived interactivity between the mobile messenger application and its user gives rise to user's enjoyment and continuous usage intention. Perceived interactivity was assumed to be formed by the combination of control, share, and responsiveness in light of the previous studies. The relations between perceived interactivity, enjoyment, and usage intention are hypothesized on the basis of the pleasure-arousal-dominance emotional state model, the theory of reasoned action, and the theory of planned behavior. Survey data were collected from 481 mobile messenger users in Korea and China. In order to test hypotheses, structural equation modeling analyses were conducted. As a result, perceived interactivity concerning connectedness and responsiveness not only positively affected enjoyment, but also had a significant effect on usage intention. However, while control positively influenced usage intention, it was not significantly related to enjoyment. In addition, there was a positive relation between enjoyment and usage intention. Incidentally, multi-group analysis was conducted to explore the differences between Korean and Chinese users. The findings would provide managerial implications for mobile messenger corporations on causal effects of perceived interactivity and the differences of the path coefficients between in Korea and China.

Seo, Young-Hee ; Lee, Cheol-Gyu ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 6, 2016, Pages 151~167
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.151
Despite the seeming glamour and popularity of commercial modeling, the industry has a darker side. Many models fail to adapt to the profession, and there are frequent cases of models quitting after a relatively short period of time. For commercial modeling agencies, this high turnover rate causes considerable disruption to their business, negatively impacting credibility and leading to decreased sales. As such, this study aimed to investigate the turnover intention of commercial models in relation to professional identity, emotional labor, and role conflict, and to propose remedies for their high turnover intention. Towards this, the relationship between commercial models' turnover intention and the factors of professional identity, emotional labor, and role conflict, and further analyzed the moderating effect of self-belief, attractiveness, and ethical environment. The analysis found that the factors having the greatest effect on commercial models' turnover intention were, in order, role conflict, emotional labor, and professional identity. When hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the moderating effect of self-belief, attractiveness, and ethical environment on the relationship between these independent variables and their effect on turnover intention, it was found that the negative impact of emotional labor on turnover intention is moderated by self-belief, and the negative impact of low professional identity on turnover intention is moderated by ethical environment. These findings underscore the importance of self-belief in commercial models, as emotional laborers, and suggest that commercial models are not born but are rather made, namely in a desirable work environment that is professional and well-organized.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 6, 2016, Pages 205~214
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.205
As a large amount of graph-structured data is widely used in various applications such as social networks, semantic web, and bio-informatics, keyword-based search over graph data has been getting a lot of attention. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for keyword search over graph data to find a set of top-k answers that are relevant as well as non-redundant in structure. We define a non-redundant answer structure for a keyword query and a relevance measure for the answer. We suggest a new indexing scheme on the relevant paths between nodes and keyword terms in the graph, and also propose a query processing algorithm to find top-k non-redundant answers efficiently by exploiting the pre-calculated indexes. We present effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach compared to the previous method by conducting an experiment using a real dataset.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 6, 2016, Pages 225~235
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.225
This study aims at developing Reminiscence Function Scale-Short Form(RFS-S) and verifying it as a supplemental diagnosis instrument to judge differences between normal and mild cognitive impairment and useful measure to rate effects of reminiscence therapy in the clinical field through internal consistency reliability and criterion validity. The study also aims at figuring out factors affection reminiscence function by figuring out demographic features of RFS-S. The research subjects were the control group of 60 normal people and experimental group of 58 people with mild cognitive impairment and both groups were over 65 years old. For internal consistency reliability(Cronbach's alpha) between questions was reliable with 0.63. Convergent validities of RFS-S with SRT and CDR-SB were 0.20(p<.05) and -0.25(p<.001), respectively, as both showed significant correlations. As a result of criterion validity to analyze AUROC, it was 0.68(p<.001) and less accurate. Its optimal cut-off points were 17 and sensitivity according to them was 0.59, and specificity was 0.72, respectively. However, reminiscence function according to demographic variables did not show any significant differences. Therefore, it is expected that RFS-S will be used as a supplemental diagnosis instrument with higher reliability and validity for discerning differences between normal and mild cognitive impairment and as a useful one to verify effects of reminiscence therapy.

On the Notion of 5 Sentence Patterns in English Grammar Learning Materials
Um, Tae-Kyung ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 6, 2016, Pages 283~292
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.283
This paper is intended as an investigation of 5 sentence patterns which have exerted a strong influence on the English education in Korea. The 'learning grammar', which is defined as the grammar in learning materials, was compared with 'reference grammar' derived from linguistic grammar with theoretical accuracy and validity. Although the notion of 5 sentence patterns has been assumed to be vestiges of old Japan textbooks, the classification system was originally established in 1929 by C. T. Onions. Particularly, new explanations regarding 'obligatory adjuncts' and 'marked construction' were provided in the learning materials, which could be seen as examples of the reflection of linguistic grammar theories on sentence patterns. If reference grammarbooks and the fruits of linguistic grammar research are used actively, material writers can avoid the errors of grammar description and more correct learning grammar can be taught to advanced learners.

With the multiplex and wide release strategy, the monopolies of four major distribution companies and three multiplex chain, the polarization of Korean movie's Box Office performance is deepening. The four major distributor of NEW, CJ CGV, Lotte Cinema distributed 290 movies of 538 movies produced from 2009 to 2014 in Korea. The audience market share of these four distributors is 85.74%, while other 248 movies covers only 14.26%, which are distributed by outsides of the four major distribution system. The concentration of film admission has been deepened in Gini Index from 0.53 in 2004 to 0.85 in 2014. The movies distributed by others rather than four major companies suffers inequality in numbers of secured screens, screening times, and secured seats of movie theaters. In the highest 10% of box-office ranking, there is only one movie distributed by others. The lowest 50% of box-office ranking, there are 186 movies by others, while four companies have 81 movies. However, Occupancy rate of seat of major companies is lower than 16.83% of that of the others in the lowest 50% section. Workers of Korean movie industry are suffered from this polarization and they seek their breakthrough by producing erotic movies for VOD in recent years.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.354
With the advancement of the digital convergence of content and platform, Korean film industry sees good opportunities of maximizing the profits and increased distribution opportunities by independent film makers. Nevertheless, the domestic film market almost entirely relies on the box office sales, which seems to be caused by the stagnation of new additional copyright market. The study aims to address the following problems: First, information asymmetry of the revenues to which the contents providers and the service providers are exposed leads to the distrust among digital film contents businesses and the disadvantages to film makers and investors, in particular. Secondly, the VOD(Video on Demand) market of film industry is adversely affected by the illegal uploads and downloads of film contents, which harms the formation of paid additional market. Based on the examination of current legislation and policy options addressing these issues, the study suggests legislative accomodations and cultural industry policy alternatives to promote the additional market of film industry.

According to Article 82 of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, the Prime Minister and the members of the State Council should countersign to assist the President's legal behavior. It has important implications to the members of the State Council for sharing responsibilities with the President. However, the 'related' State Councilor's countersignature by the Minister of Interior(MOI) for non-State member agencies have been operating as a ritual, since the Government Organization Act describes that non-specific affairs belongs to the MOI in accordance with Article 34, paragraph 2. This paper is to promote the department standard operating by the Presidential Decree. Its main idea is to categorize non-State Councilor agencies with most closely related to members of the State Council. I suggest to make a portfolio such as Australian Federal Government in Korea. It can be made easily in accordance with each agency's rights and responsibilities written in the Acts. That's the turning point to improve effectiveness of the related State councilor's countersignature by the constitution to the President's legal activity joint accountability with the Prime Minister.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.416
Along with the mood of 'Beyond GDP', it is necessary to explore how these subjective concepts such as happiness and well-being are quantified to be compared among many countries. The concept of 'Work-life balance (WLB)' is likely to be located on the boundary between the subjective and objective areas. Thus, this article aims to examine the policies related to WLB and how to change or develop those policies considering the concept of WLB and the circumstantial particularity of Korea. There are several suggestions on certain developments in the existing policies interfering WLB at three levels. First the government needs to conduct campaigns to transform traditional gender roles through active advertisement. Second, the company needs to use the long-lasting 'hierarchical organisation culture' for employee's work-life balance for regulating working hours and exhausting paid holidays and maternity or paternity leave. Finally, families should understand and support their wives' current circumstances facing the struggle between a mother and economic worker.

Second, job-seeking stress had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Third, job-seeking anxiety had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Therefore, if students perceive a sense of attachment from parents, decrease the chances of internet addiction. When college students job-seeking stress occurs, and if they don't feel attachment from their parents suggests that the higher the chances of internet addiction. In addition, this implication and suggestions for future research are provided.

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the quality of Differential Police Response strategy. Although it has been approximately three years since these new police response systems were introduced, there is no research to evaluate them empirically. Using two types of statistical quality control techniques, Xbar-R control charts for variables data and P charts for attributes data, this study analyzes approximately 3,000 calls reported throughout the year 2012 to the 112 Integrated Dispatch Center in Ik-san police station. The Xbar-R control charts revealed that the police did not consistently respond to an emergency call for service (i.e., code one case) within 3 minutes. The P control chart also identified that there was a significant variation in the portion/number of defective calls where police failed to respond to non-emergency calls for service within 5 minutes. The results from this study suggest the police may need to review the target response time for code 1 and code 2 respectively.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.06.802
This study examined the Japanese and Chinese journalist's views on anti-Korean wave, who are the public and authoritative discourse producers in Japan and China, respectively. In so doing, the study aims to understand the ways in which the phenomena of anti-Korean wave take place and are diffused. According to the findings, anti-Korean wave in north-east Asia is affected by anti-Korea sentiments that have been induced from historical and political relations as well as cultural conflicts. In specific, the anti-Korea sentiments found in both Japan and China are geopolitical particularity and historical relations function to frame their cultural receptions of Korean pop culture. In other words, the phenomena of anti-Korean wave in both countries do not stem directly from local audiences' either discontents or apathy on Korean pop contents. However, while Japanese anti-Korean wave seems to be mere expressions of anti-Korea sentiments, Chinese sentiments of anti-Korean wave are triggered and transferred by, or articulated with their anti-Korea sentiments.
