DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.031
Atmospheric correction as a preprocessing work should be performed to conduct accurately landcover/landuse classification using hyperspectral imagery. Atmospheric correction on airborne hyperspectral images was conducted and then the effect of atmospheric correction by comparing spectral reflectance characteristics before and after atmospheric correction for a few landuse classes was analyzed. In addition, land cover classification was first conducted respectively by the maximum likelihood method and the spectral angle mapper method after atmospheric correction and then the results were compared. Applying the spectral angle mapper method, the sea water area were able to be classified with the minimum of noise at the threshold angle of 4 arc degree. It is considered that object-based classification method, which take into account of scale, spectral information, shape, texture and so forth comprehensively, is more advantageous than pixel-based classification methods in conducting landcover classification of the coastal area with hyperspectral images in which even the same object represents various spectral characteristics.

Lee, Doo Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 146~153
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.146
This work studies the equilibrium behavior of customers and optimal pricing strategies of the sever in a continuous-time M/M/1 queueing system. In this work, we consider two pricing models. The first one is called the ex-ante payment scheme where the server charges a flat price for all services, and the second one is called the ex-post payment scheme where the server charges a price that is proportional to the time a customer spends in the system. In each pricing model, the departing customer receives the reward that is inversely proportional to his/her sojourn time. The server should make the optimal pricing decisions in order to maximize its expected profit per unit time in each payment scheme. This work also investigates customer`s equilibrium joining or balking behaviors under server`s optimal pricing strategies. Numerical experiments are conducted to help the server best select one between two pricing models.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 221~230
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.221
The public mostly get the information regarding real estate policy not from the press release of the government but from news articles. This type of information, though, might be delivered in a different frame depending on inclination of media or press. The media runs the articles within its own frame, so that it often conveys either expectation or concern depending on its inclination. This study analyzed the articles regarding `Agreement to revise three major real estate regulations to perk up property market` and examined how the real estate policy imprinted in them depending on the disposition of the press. The results showed that the conservative press ran articles within a positive frame expressing favorable expectation. On the other hand, progressive press mostly kept neutral or unfavorable tone on the same regulations within the negative frame. Therefore, it was confirmed that there exist different frames within articles depending on their disposition.

Research on OECD and Korea have shown that high-growth startups are the keys to job creation and that these companies are very important for economic growth. Given that the large-scale entry of women into the labor force accelerates economic growth and women have far lower levels of participation in growth-oriented entrepreneurship than men do, accelerating female entrepreneurship could have positive effects on the Korean economy. This paper uses data from several databases to do a comparison analysis between women`s and men`s start-ups to explore the factors that explain the lag in building high-growth firms among women. Women startups make up nearly 34% of startups(defined as less than 7 years of establishment), but only 6% of high-growth startups. Women rarely own large businesses, reflecting their low levels of initial capital and outside financing. Regardless of gender, entrepreneurs face many of the same challenges in starting businesses, but this study shows three primary factors for female entrepreneurs that lead to a less high-growth startup: a greater financing gap than for men(this gap is more apparent for high-growth firms), a lack of ideas, knowledge, and experience(related to the lack of mentorship), and lastly the difficulty maintaining a work-life balance. The findings are very similar with those found in studie`s in the US(financing gap, work-life balance, and lack of mentorship). Further studies are required to identify more specific factors behind the gender gap in ideas, knowledge, and experience.

This paper investigates how social trust and disability identity influence subjective health, focusing on the moderating effect of social-economic status of people with disabilities. We used surveys used for the development of the social exclusion scale of people with disabilities. As a result, social trust and disability identity influence subjective health. Namely, those who have more social trust and high disability identity experience subjective good health than other people with disabilities do. Second, the relationship between disability identity and subjective health was moderated by social-economic status of people with disabilities. Namely, the relationship between disability identity and subjective health is bigger as the level of social-economic status is higher. However, the relationship between social trust and self-rated health was not moderated by social-economic status of people with disabilities. Based on these findings, we suggest policy and practice ways to promote the subjective health status of people with disabilities.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 382~397
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.382
This study focuses on the lessons and implications of Germany`s measures for the social integration after the reunification, and especially the Germany`s measure on labor reproduction for the economic stability of East Germany. This analysis indicates, whether South Korea is going to achieve gradual and peaceful reunification or absorb North Korea due to its sudden collapse, that the reunification, in any case, requires the social integration through economic stability of both North and South. In order to ensure national reconciliation, recovery of homogeneity, and establishment of identity for the economically stable social integration, the new integration of educational system is necessary. Especially, the objective of this study is to find the role and direction of vocational education for the stability of the North Korea`s labor market and economic life in order to socially integrate South Koreans with its Northern counterparts. First of all, this study examined a priori example of the experiences during West Germany`s social integration process, i.e. the vocational education promotion process for the social stability and economic life. It figured out the problem of vocational education for the integrity as well as analyzed the vocational education differences and integration promotion system between East & West Germany. Even though East and West Germany showed their disparities in each vocational education, they corroborated each other by finding one similar system such as bifurcation, which lead to the integration of the labor market and new vocational education policy for the economic stability. Despite the West Germany`s support for the socio-economic integration, nevertheless, the East Germany`s capacity turned out to be insufficient, which resulted in the failure of the policy. Based on above discussion, this study intended to suggest the efficient solutions of vocational education for the internal reunification of South and North Korea by promoting the independence and self-support of North Koreans and leading the stability of labor market and economic for the future reunification.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.431
In this paper, we present an upsampling technique for depth map image using color and depth weights. First, we construct a high-resolution image using the bilinear interpolation technique. Next, we detect a common edge region using RGB color space, HSV color space, and depth image. If an interpolated pixel belongs to the common edge region, we calculate weighting values of color and depth in
neighboring pixels and compute the cost value to determine the boundary pixel value. Finally, the pixel value having minimum cost is determined as the pixel value of the high-resolution depth image. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good performance in terns of PSNR comparison and subjective visual quality.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 552~565
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.552
This study aimed to examine the association between material hardship and alcohol use among low-income households in Korea, with particular attention to whether the association was mediated by family conflict and self-esteem. Using a nationally representative sample of 960 low-income households, this study conducted a path analysis to test a structural model liking material hardship to alcohol use through family conflict and self-esteem. The significance of indirect paths was tested by a Sobel test. This study found that experiencing material hardship was directly associated with low levels of coping skills for family conflict and low levels of self-esteem, but not with alcohol use. However, material hardship was indirectly associated with alcohol use through low levels of coping skills for family conflict as well as low levels of self-esteem. The findings of this study suggest that experiencing material hardship among low-income households would be a socio-structural stressor for alcohol use, particularly in that it increases secondary role and intra-psychic strains. Implications to address material hardship and alcohol use among low-income households were discussed.

This study is to investigate the influence of leisure experience type and self-efficacy, on subjective well-being in ski resort. The study is to examine the moderating role of leasure experience type (ski related experience and non ski related experience) between self-efficacy and subjective well-being. Further, the relationship between subjective well-being and recommendation intention was investigated. As a result, self-efficacy significantly influenced on subjective well-being (satisfaction of leisure, positive affect). Respondents who are high self-efficacy group have higher subjective well-being (satisfaction of leisure, positive affect) than one who are low self-efficacy group in the ski related leasure experience scenarios. In the non ski related leasure experience scenarios, however, respondents who are low self-efficacy group have higher subjective well-being (satisfaction of leisure, positive affect). Besides, subjective well-being (satisfaction of leisure, positive affect) plays a mediating role between self-efficacy and recommendation intention.
Analysing the Narrative Strategy of Co-produced Transnational Romance Films
Cho, Jin-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 598~608
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.598
This paper attempts to analyze the narrative strategy of co-produced transnational romance films,
(2010). These films were produced during the heyday of Korean wave, the phenomenon Korean popular culture enjoys overseas fandom. Coupling Korean male star with Japanese female star, and dramatizing their romance, the industries attempted to attract the nations` cultural consumers. International co-production has been considered as a mode of production strategic enough to penetrate into neighboring nations. One of the major benefits of international co-production is to cope with `cultural discount` between nations. Since producers and directors from different cultural background can participate in the creative process and share ideas, they can devise quite strategic form and content to please culturally heterogeneous consumers. Korea and Japan have long been in socio-political conflict, which makes it crucial for these films` cultural producers not to stir spectators` nationalism. In other words, these films` cultural producers had to develop a narrative strategy not to analogize nations` political reality. This paper, therefore, aims to analyze the narrative structure of these films, and to specify narrative strategy in detail.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.609
A close-up shot, capturing all the fine details of an actor`s face by filling up the frame, expresses an actor`s performance more realistically than a stage where a living actor performs on. This is because a close-up generates an impact with its specific images and meanings seizing the attention of the audience and conjures up a psychological effect as if an actor`s face is directly communicating with the audience at a minimum distance. Therefore, this study analyzed the film
to examine the photographic effect and acting effect of close-up shots and recommend the need for acting training thereof. The film was selected since Song Kang-ho, to add more realism to his character acted going back and forth 20 years of age with a special makeup on face, his facial expressions, gestures, props in close-up successfully helped deliver the actor`s performance by revealing the character`s personality and emotions of the film, and generated an array of linguistic, visual and emotional meanings which are the key to film acting. This study is expected to contribute to helping actors to learn about the effect of close-ups and the key to film acting and find effective ways to express themselves in front of the camera.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.667
As distributed computing platforms like Hadoop MapReduce have been developed, it is necessary to perform the conventional query processing techniques, which have been executed in a single computing machine, in distributed computing environments efficiently. Especially, studies on similarity join query processing in distributed computing environments have been done where similarity join means retrieving all data pairs with high similarity between given two data sets. But the existing similarity join query processing schemes for distributed computing environments have a problem of skewed computing load balance between clusters because they consider only the data transmission cost. In this paper, we propose Matrix-based Load-balancing Algorithm for efficient similarity join query processing in distributed computing environment. In order to uniform load balancing of clusters, the proposed algorithm estimates expected computing cost by using matrix and generates partitions based on the estimated cost. In addition, it can reduce computing loads by filtering out data which are not used in query processing in clusters. Finally, it is shown from our performance evaluation that the proposed algorithm is better on query processing performance than the existing one.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.689
As the demand for LCD increases, the importance of inspection equipment for improving the efficiency of LCD production is continuously emphasized. The pattern inspection apparatus is one that detects minute defects of pattern quickly using optical equipment such as line scan camera. This pattern inspection apparatus makes a decision on whether a pixel is a defect or not using a single threshold value in order to meet constraint of real time inspection. However, a method that uses an adaptive thresholding scheme with different threshold values according to characteristics of each region in a pattern can greatly improve the performance of defect detection. To apply this adaptive thresholding scheme it has to be known that a certain pixel to be inspected belongs to which region. Therefore, this paper proposes a region matching algorithm that recognizes the region of each pixel to be inspected. The proposed algorithm is based on the pattern matching scheme with the consideration of real time constraint of machine vision and implemented through GPGPU in order to be applied to a practical system. Simulation results show that the proposed method not only satisfies the requirement for processing time of practical system but also improves the performance of defect detection.

This study reviews the so-called `format-export` of Korean TV entertainment programs to China, and ahalyze its effect on the spread of Hallyu in China. Format export has developed as an alternative for the export of Korean TV programs when the Chinese government restrict the broadcasting of foreign TV programs. In so doing, the study conducted surveys about the format-exported programs in Shanghai and Zhengzhou with the sample of 381 university students. The survey shows that the popularity of entertainment programs is so high as to compete with the popularity of K-pop. Respondents in Zhengzhou tend to watch format-exported programs first and then try to watch original Korean programs, while respondents in Shanghai are more likely to watch original Korean programs. This results suggest that format-export can help the spread of Hallyu in the inland local cities in China.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.740
Hologram technology is widely applied in entertainment contents for public, no more remained in specific technological area for minority experts. Expecially, K-POP entertainment contents increasingly adopt hologram images. These contents use hologram technology as a part to arouse spectacles or represent idols as hologram characters. In this study, spectacles and aura of K-POP hologram concerts of SM Entertainment which runs stably in certain period were analyzed, so that it could recognized the differentiation strategy distinguished only in hologram concerts. Thus, the setting of hologram concerts alienates seats from the stage so that maximize distance, and the aura of idol characters strengthens through fantasy of escape from reality. Hologram concerts maximize fantasy through exposing tricks rather than concealing it. Hologram concerts enhance image of Korea as ICT leader, overcome physical and geological limitation of `Korean Wave` to globalize, and propose examples of popularization of convergence contents.

Joo, Eun-Sun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 750~759
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.750
This study is to demonstrate the effects of working hour on the workers` subjective well-being. Working hour, in this study, means working time per a day and the generosity of weekly holiday. Firstly, the effects of working hour on the worker`s well-being will be analyzed. Secondly, it will be investigated if the effects of working hour on the worker`s well-being change according to the existence of the family member who needs care. The results of the analysis show that longer working hour and the lower generosity of weekly holiday decrease workers` well being. If workers have family member who needs care, the effects of working hour and the generosity of weekly holiday on the worker`s well-being are not significant. It contrasts to the result that women are more satisfactory to their lives than men in cases they don`t have family member who needs care. It is supposed that these results are closely related with the enormous gender gap of care time in Korea.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 16, issue 7, 2016, Pages 760~770
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2016.16.07.760
This study aims to investigate and measure the effectiveness between the value of the reward program and loyalty of the reward program as well as its influential transference effect of the loyalty of the entity (theater or exhibition) via investigating both its behavioral loyalty and attitudinal loyalty effectiveness. As a result, higher value of reward program increases the level of loyalty of the reward program. Key results were found that the behavioral loyalty positively influences the loyalty of the theatre/exhibition -the operator the loyalty program since the behavior loyalty requires participatory engagement, the reward program becoming a stimulator acting as a valuable component to drive consumer`s revisit. However the attitudinal loyalty effectiveness was not as effectives as the behavioral loyalty since consumers tend to perceive a reward program as an informative beneficial tool rather than an emotionally engaging platform.
