A Semiotic Approach to Modern Visual Arts

A semiotic approach to modem visual arts has emerged since French post-structuralism was introduced to Anglo -American academics by "deconstruction" or "postmodemi sm." It views a work of art as a sign, which is its math odical assumption and, at the same time, makes its appli cation more accessible. In the milieu of modem visual arts' effort to be intimate with general audience, modem art photography is now fared with the request to be a familar and universal domain, instead of being left only in photo books as artistic and academic achievements. More specifically, various photo images puter graphics to such megaexhibitions as "Gwangju Biennale,. "Media City Seo ul," and "Pusan International Art Festival," are main objects of study. A coherent and scientific analysis of visual semitotics is still on the way, however, it is an urgent task how to read and interpret a photo image with multiple meanings. This study argues that visual seniotics can be a powerful tool to enhance the understanding of art photography. After all, seniotics is a product of age； we live in the age of legibility, that is, of reading the work of art well as the social events and phenomena. art well as the social events and phenomena.
Fast Variable-size Block Matching Algorithm for Motion Estimation Based on Bit-patterns

In this paper, we propose a fast variable block matching algorithm for motion estimation based on bit-patterns. Motion estimation in the proposed algorithm is peformed after the representation of image sequence is transformed 8-bit pixel values into 1-bit ones by the mean pixel value of search block, which brings a short searching time by reducing the computational complexity. Moreover, adaptive searching methods according to the motion information of the block make the procedure of motion estimation efficient by eliminating unnecessary searching processes of low motion block and deepening a searching procedure in high motion block. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides bettor performance - average 0.5dB PSNR improvement and about 99% savings in the number of operations - than full search Hock matching algorithm with a fixed block size.
Finding Complex Features by Independent Component Analysis

Neurons in the mammalian visual cortex can be dassified into the two main categories of simple cells and complex cells based on their response properties. Here, we find the complex features corresponding to the response of complex cells by applying the unsupervised independent component analysis network to input images. This result will be helpful to elucidate the information processing mechanism of neurons in primary visual cortex.
Proposal and Implementation of Authentication System Using Human Face Biometric Features

Pre-existing authentication system such as token based method, knowledge-based and hybrid method have problems such as loss and wiretapping. for this, this paper describes the biometric authentication system which have the excellent convenience and security. In particular, a new biometric system by human face biometric features which have the non-enforcement and non-touch measurement is proposed. Firstly, facial features are extracted by Y- histogram and tilted face images we corrected by coordinate transformation and scaling has done for achieving independent of the camera positions. Secondly, feature vectors are extracted such as distance and intersection angles and similarities we measured by fuzzy relation matrix. finally, the effectiveness of this paper is demonstrated by experiments.
Digital Watermarking Algorithm of Still Image Using Human Visual System Characteristics

This paper proposes method to insert soong Watermark considering dull HVS properties to big change of Edge and Texture area. While conversion of existent Fourier form can acquire information for whole frequency ingredient of image, but Wavelet transform can look for Edge and Texture area locally. Therefore, use Wavelet transform to use HVS properites, and compare with Xia's Watermarking techniques to use Wavelet transform simply arid experimented these proposal algorithm. Experimented about fidelity and robusthness by attack method that is used in existing paper, and as a result, confirmed that proposal algorithm that use HVS properties is more superior than Xia's techniques.
A Study on Class Loading in Java Virtual Machine

Dynamic dan loading and class linking of Java is a poweful mechanism. Many other system also support some form of dynamic loading and linking, but lazy loading, type-safe linkage, user-definable class loading policy, and multiple namespaces are important features of Java The ue U dan loading is assured of type safety. The security of Java greatly depends on type safety. In JVM, type safety mechanism is very difficult and access of accuracy is not dear, so type safety problems were raised. In paper, n analysis simple Java code and present a diagram graph and an operational semantics for dynamic class loading and type safety.
A Study on Model of paid Digital Contents for Public Institutions

Recently, digital contents have become increasingly perceived as a axe aspect of national development, and as such their generation and widespread promotion is being now pursued on a global basis, as govemment move to assist corporations in the realization of consistent industrial develo- pment. Efforts are also being made to seek avenues for the paid use of qualitativefy excellent contents, instead of relying upon traditional methods of free-of-charge provision. This paper examined the role of public institutions for the charging and development of contents industry. And it is suggested that promotional strategy and mode! for paid digital contents. ln particular, it is focused on those cases by the the Korea Institue of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) as a non-profit institution in public information sevice.
Implementation of Web services for Slip Data Process

A Web Service is an URL addressable set of functionality that is exposed over a network to serve as a building Hock for creating distributed applications. SOAP is a protocol that Web Service consumers often use, when they request and response to a Web Service, and it is a lightweight, XML-based protocol over HTTP for exchange to information in decentralized, distributed environments. A Web Service is very useful forimplementing common functions in especially a large size business area, because it is invoked by a protocol like HTTP or SOAP that we easily use, and by an XML-based data format In this paper, we implement Web Services that process dip data by computers in enterprise accounts in order to enhance the transparency and productivity of enterprises. we analyse the structure of slip data, design dip database, implement stored procedures for manipulating data of slip database, and make thorn controlled by Web Services. The result of this paper will contribute to the standardization and activation of accounting process systems for e-business area
Performance Analysis of Cellular If Using Combined Cache and Alternative Handoff Method for Realtime Data Transmission

In this paper, the new scheme using a Combined Cache(CC) that combing the Paging and Routing Cache(PRC) and an alternative handoff method according to the type of data transmission for achieving the efficient realtime communication. The PRC and quasi-soft handoff method reduce the path duplication. But they increase the network traffic load because of the handoff state packet of Mobile Host(MH). Moreover the use the same handoff method without differentiating the type of transmission data. Those problems are solved by operating U with a semi-soft handoff method for realtime data transmission and with a hard handoff method for non-realtime data transmission. As a result or simulation a better performance is obtained because of the reduction of the number of control packet in case that the number of cells are below 20. And the packet arrival time and loss of packet decreased significantly for realtime data transmission.
A Study on the Technology Options for Number Portability in Korea

Number portability is a policy for the increase of user benefits and promotion of telecommunications market competition. In June Un, local number portability (LNP) will be implemented in Korea. The technical solution of LNP will migrate via initial non-intelligent option (RCF) to intelligent option (QoR) from 2007 and number portability standard for 2G mobile uses QoR. The introduction of number portability needs to change operators' network and to implement the solution of LNP suitable to their network property. Therefore the purpose of this paper is to propose a suggestion for the technical options of number portability by the comparative study of merits and demerits of several solutions and the case study of several countries.
Failure Analysis on the Equipment of PCS common-repeater at the Metropolitan Subway

The Minisoy of Information and Communication(MIC) requires telecompanys to share base stations in order to prevent the duplicated investment and environmental destruction which would be caused by the indiscreet construction of basestations for enlarging their own service area among telecompanys. This paper discusses' the problems of mobile communication services that have been generated in common-repeater at the Metropolitan subway. These problem include factors of power obstacles, communication equipment and establishment obstacles. The content of this paper is helpful in organizing the basestation sharing of IMT-2000 and the 4th generation mobile system, and provides the basics of a higher quality service for common-service communication.
Development of Ceramics Material Property Database

Prompt and efficient information collection on each research area is emerging as the key factor of national technology competitiveness in industrialized society. Accordingly, constructing a variety of specialized DBs as the tool for supporting R&D activities and providing appropriate information are essential task to be solved in promoting R&D productivity. On this study, We have developed ceramics material property DB to support and facilitate R&D activities of industry, academia and research institutes. The ceramic property DB which was regarded as the most important DB surveyed from korean done for scientists and researchers was selected. To develop this DB, us have designed DB customized for domestic users after analyzing items and structures of ceramic material property information. We hope that R&D researchers can save time and cost in acquiring property information and the R&D productivity will be improved by utilizing our research result.
