A Design and Implementation of Computer-based Test System

E-learning is the application of e-business technology and services to teaching and learning. It use of new multimedia technologies and Internet to improved the qualify of learning by facilitating access to remote resources and services. In this paper, we show a computer-based test system, which is carefully designed and implemented. The system consists of a contents delivery mechanism, computer-adaptive test algorithm, and review engine. In this papepr, we describe what are points to be considered when design and implementing a computer-based test system. In addition, this paper shows how to control the bias value for computer-adaptive algorithm using real data.
Development of e-Learning System Based on Open Source Software

In this paper we developed e-Leaning system based on open source software. We selected the Moodle that after compared the open source learning management systems. Moodle is LAMP(Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) based course management system (CMS), a software package designed to help educators create quality online courses. One of the main advantages of Moodle over other systems is a strong grounding in social constructionist pedagogy. Also we integrated Moodle and legacy systems such as streaming service, webhard service, and short message service. The system operated during one semester at college using blended learning model. We had obtained showed that the students had almost all scored quite highly as preferred learning environment through COLLES(Constructivist On-Line Learning Environment Survey) and ATTLS(Attitudes to Thinking and Learning Survey). Therefore this research showed that open source based e-Loaming system is stable and possible.
A New Design Method of Machine Control Interface by Using Bio-signals

This paper introduces a new design method of realizing the machine control interface by using bio-signals(EEG/EOG). This method can be further expanded to be applied to the computer system responding to EEG or EOG signals and the general bio-feedback system. For this reason, we made the remotely controlled toy system controlled by the EEG spectrums, their combination indexes, and EOG parameters. And the headset that has bio-signal processing modules built-in offers convenience for users, and this make much more advanced system than any other existing BCI and BMI system.
Design and Implementation of Web-based Problem Management System for CT Radiological Technologist Education

Recently, despite of the rapid progress of information technology in the medical and health fields, the development and management of problem sets about medical and education contents related with radiological technologist has been still achieved by manual and offline method using document editor. In this study, the unique web-based problem management system is designed and implemented. That system can efficiently manage and present various kind of problem set about integrated education and personal license without time and space limitations in order to improve the efficiency of supplementary training and to obtain the professional license for CT radiological technologist. The proposed system is composed of administration module and user module. The former supports several functions such as problem creation, problem categorization, user management, and adjustment of leveled assessment. On the other hand, the latter functions examination applying , problem retrieval, personal score retrieval, and interpretation viewing, and so on. In addition, our system is expected as a useful and practical system which provides problem interpretation and analysis of score results after applying for the examination. It can elevate ability of learning and information interchange among them preparing for CT professional radiological technologist licensing examination
Aerobic Bacteria Image Management System

In this study, we integrated 40 kinds of aerobic bacteria that has a higher appearance rate and data for experts and educations, and constructed the aerobic bacterial images database. Constructed system is useful to culture of bacteria for novice without expert's heuristics and deep knowledge and to decrease time and money for handling of patient's examination results. Moreover, it can add new bacterial information in database and contribute to raise a medical quality and it is useful to support a expert's technology in department of laboratory medicine.
A Proposal for Certificate Status Validation Using the Call Processing of PCS

With the rapid progress of research to offer a convenience of mobile communication, the mobile users can use not only the services of voice call but also the variety services of data communication using Internet. These include Internet Searching, Internet Shopping and Internet banking and Internet stock exchange and electronic payment and so on, based on PKI. Also, the need of data communication between the mobile users has been increased. As it is possible for mobile users to do user authentication, key distribution, encryption, decryption and so on, it is needed the certificate status validation between the mobile users. However due to the PCS(Personal Communication System) had been only designed and implemented for voice call between the mobile users, it is not easy to apply data communication between the mobile users on PKI. Therefore the study of for the data communication between the mobile users in PCS is a few. It is for the data transfer between the mobile users to communicate using call processing of PCS. So, we propose how to process the certificate status validation during call processing for data communication between the mobile users in the PCS.
The Undeniable Digital Multi-signature Scheme Suitable for Joint Copyright Protection on Digital Contents

In undeniable digital signature scheme, the signature can not be verified without the signer's cooperation. The undeniable signature scheme can be used to computerize many applications which can not be done by a conventional digital signature scheme. In this study, we propose the undeniable digital multi-signature scheme which requires many signers and designated verifier The multi-signature can be verified only in cooperation with all signers. The proposed scheme satisfies undeniable property and it is secure against active attacks such as modification and denial of the multi-signature by signers. We also propose copyright protection method of co-authored digital contents as an application of the proposed scheme.
The Development of Information Circulation System for Science & Technology Video Digital Contents Based on KOI(Knowledge Object Identifier)

With the rapid improvement of the internet and information technology, digital contents containing knowledge and information resource is circulated through the internet. A circulation system based on a standardized identifier is required to share this kind of information, generated from seminars and workshops conducted in the area of science and technology and saved in the form of digital video contents. The main objective of this study is on constructing an information circulation system based on the KOI identifier to effectively share the digital video contents produced from seminars and workshops related to the area of science and technology. Furthermore, the overview and status of a standardized identifier, and the functional aspects of the system such as the methods to apply the KOI identification system on the subject and its slides of digital video contents, a digital video contents management system, a centralized identifier management system, and the methods applied for the search of digital video metadata have been suggested to support construction of the information circulation system.
An Adaptive Service Management for Multi-media Real-time Traffic in Wireless LANs

Recent advances on wireless technology are enabling the design and deployment of real-time traffic in wireless LAN. Point Coordination Function (PCF) mode of Wireless LAN is defined to provide QoS of real time traffic, such as voice, video in wireless LANs. The service polling scheduling plays an important role in real-time traffic services of wireless LAN. This paper proposes a multicast polling scheme to increase the maximum number of conversations by reducing the amount of empty polls in IEEE 802.11 PCF mode. Our simulation studies show that our scheme may improve performance of the PCF in terms of the average transfer delay and packet discard ratio.
A Study on the Implementation of ENUM Client Based on Window Tool-bar

Scheduling Method for QoS Support in High-Speed Portable Internet System

HPI system provides 1-3 Mbps data transmission speed to terminals moving up to 60 km/sec. Since HPI supports rtPS, nrtPS, and BE services requiring different QoS, it needs an efficient scheduling method based on those different QoSs. This paper suggests an uplink scheduling method which gives priority to services in the order of rtPS, nrtPS and BE services but which reserves some bandwidth for the low priority services before it allocates the bandwidth to higher priority services. Simulation results show that it can improve the uplink performance by reserving mean transmission rate to each nrtPS terminal and by reserving bandwidth, which amounts to about 1.5 times the mean transmission rate of the whole BE terminals, to the whole BE terminals.
Design and Implementation of a RESTful SOAP-based Slip Data Processing System

In this paper, we propose a design methodology of RESTful SOAP-based web services which try to solve extensibility problem of SOAP-based Web service by adopting REST concept into SOAP. And, we apply the proposed RESTful SOAP-based web services design methodology in constructing slip data processing web services, compare it with simple SOAP-based slip data web services, and try to propose a model for building Web Services in the future. REST is a model about architecture type of web distributed computing , the biggest distributed application in the world. In REST, identification of resources are made by URI, states(resources) are represented by document described by XML and transferred through HTTP our proposed RESTful SOAP-based web services are expected to contribute to constructing useful world wide web services which are essential in building E-Commerce society.
A Development of Cyber Credit Decision Support System for Banking Facilities Using Fuzzy-expert Network

This paper is to develop the prototype of a decision making for loan granting system at banks and to evaluate the effectiveness of it. The prototype is called at FENET-LG in this paper. The decision to grant a loan is an unstructured and vagueness task because it is required a tremendous amount of data and many complex relationships among them. Evaluating these many data and relationships is a difficult task even for most experienced decision maker of bank. Therefore, where complex judgement is required, the decision maker of bank may benefit from the use of fuzzy expert network to support the evaluation of ability to pay back. Given the characteristics of decision maker of banking facilities judgement task about ability to pay back, the prototype system named FENET-LG is constructed by integration of fuzzy expert system and neural network. The FENET-LG takes advantage of both the deductive approach of fuzzy expert system and the inductive approach of a neural network to provide a decision aid designed to support and facilitate the process of conducting a judgement of ability to pay back.
A Study on the Montage Technique in Yuri Norstein's 'Tale of Tales'

In the present, animations of auteurism and aestheticism became a unique genre of art that expresses directors' idea. 'Tale of Tales' by Yuri Norstein, a Russian animator, is a paper animation that emphasizes the cut out technique and picturesque feeling as well as complicated structure of sequence in expressing metaphysical themes in the author's historical realism. It is evaluated as unique and creative. The present study analyzed the montage technique applied through the development of several symbolic images, the diachronic expression of contradictory worlds, the unique foreshadow of revealing the causes of results later, rapid repetition of urgent and serious situations, the movement of the camera to express the psychological distance between two characters in different situations and the process of editing. The derived results of this study are expected to be helpful in the works of animators of auteurism and aestheticism.
Polar-coordinates Linear Interpolation for Map Contour Reconstruction at Summit Area

To connect the gap on the contours at the summit area, we propose the linear interpolation in the polar coordinates. Tn the experiments of applying both existing algorithms and a proposed method to some graphic images, the proposed method generated curves that average MAE was 1.940 pixels. In particular, our method with MAE of 1.240 on real map image was superior than the others. Also by generating new curves with neighbors-resembled appearance, the contours were reconstructed seamlessly.
A Study on Query Expansion Using Concept

Without detailed exact knowledge of a retrieval collection, most users find it difficult to formulate effective queries. In fact, most users may spend large amount of time formulating queries in order to obtain their desired result. A method to overcome this difficulty is to use query expansion that reformulates better query from initial query. In this paper we propose concept based query evaluation method using concept of class that retrieved from initial query. This concept is expanded through thesaurus. For efficiency evaluation of query expansion, we defined most critical value through a simulation and compared precision and recall each other.
Modeling and Performance Analysis of Communication Channels for Multimedia System

In this paper, communication channels for the transmission of multimedia packets are modeled and evaluated. The multimedia packet traffic characterized by on-off and MMPP process for voice and data, respectively, dynamic channel allocation, queueing of data packets due to unavailability of channels and dropping of queued data packets over timeout, and guard channel for voice packets are modeled. The performance indices adopted in the evaluation of SRN model includes blocking and dropping probabilities. The SRN uses rewards concepts instead of the complicate numerical analysis required for the Markov chain. It is shown that our SRN modeling techniques provide an easier way to carry out performance analysis.
An Efficient Phantom Protection Method for Concurrency Control in Multi-dimensional Index Structures

In this paper, we propose a new phantom protection method for multi-dimensional index structures. The proposed method uses a hybrid approach of predicate locking and granular locking mechanisms. The proposed mechanism is independent of the types of multi-dimensional index structures, i.e., it can be applied to all types of index structures such as tree-based, file-based and hash-based index structures. Also, it achieves low development cost and high concurrency with low lock overhead. It is shown through various experiments that the proposed method outperforms existing phantom protection methods for multi-dimensional index structures.
Functional Model of Traffic Engineering

This paper presented high-level function model to achieve traffic engineering to construct traffic engineering infrastructure in Internet. Function model presented include traffic management, capacity management, and network planing. It is ensured that network performance is maximized under all conditions including load shifts and failures by traffic management. It is ensured that the network is designed and provisioned to meet performance objectives for network demands at minimum cost by capacity management. Also it is ensured that node and transport capacity is planned and deployed in advance of forecasted traffic growth by network planning.
The Construction of Superconcentrator Based on Linear Expander Bounds

Linear order Concentrators and Superconcentrators have been studied extensively for their ability to interconnect large numbers of devices in parallel, whether in communication systems or in parallel computers. One major limitation on the efficiency of parallel computer designs has been the prohibitively high cost of parallel communication between processors and memories. Linear order concentrators, O(n), can be used to construct theoretically optimal interconnection network schemes. Existing explicitly the defined constructions are based on expanders, which have large constant factors, thereby rendering them impractical lot reasonable sized networks. It demands the construction of concentrator which uses the expander with the smaller expansion constant. This paper introduces an improvement on the method of constructing concentrators using expanders, which reduce the size of resulting concentrator built from any given expander by a constant factor.
An Efficient Method for Determining Work Process Number of Each Node on Computation Grid

The grid computing is a technique to solve big problems such as a field of scientific technique by sharing the computing power and a big storage space of the numerous computers on the distributed network. The environment of the grid computing is composed with the WAN which has a different performance and a heterogeneous network condition. Therefore, it is more important to reflect heterogeneous performance elements to calculation work. In this paper, we propose an efficient method that decides work process number of each node by considering a network state information. The network state information considers the latency, the bandwidth and latency-bandwidth mixture information. First, using information which was measured, we compute the performance ratio and decide work process number of each node. Finally, RSL file was created automatically based on work process number which was decided, and then accomplishes a work. The network performance information is collected by the NWS. According to experimental results, the method which was considered of network performance information is improved respectively 23%, 31%, and 57%, compared to the methods of existing in a viewpoint of work amount, work process number, and node number.
Improvement of Power Efficiency of HPA by the PAPR Reduction and Predistorter in MIMO-OFDM

Tn this paper, we evaluate the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) performance in a space-time block code (STBC) multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system using selected mapping (SLM) and partial transmit sequences (PTS) approaches. SLM and PTS methods are used to decrease the nonlinear distortion and to improve the power efficiency of the nonlinear high power amplifier(HPA) in the MIMO-OFDM system. In simulation result, when compared with the existing MIMO-OFDM system using QPSK, the PTS method reduces the PAPR about 5dB while the SLM method can reduce about 3.5 dB. Also, we find the BER performance of the MIMO-OFDM system with and without the predistorter in front of the HPA. When the predistorter is used, the input back-off (IBO) of 4 dB is required in the PTS method, and IBO of 6 dB in the SLM method to closely conform to the linear amplifier. If the method of improving the PAPR is not used, the value of IBO of 8 dB is required.
A Study on the Architecture of an Electronic Governance System

The first wave of e-government projects dating from the early 1990s primarily focused on setting up national and global information infrastructure, internal organizational reform, digital procurement, and the digital delivery of government services to citizens. Most of these e-Government projects have concentrated on the development of systems focusing on strengthening the formal agencies and institutions of government. To date, despite many theoretical and empirical studies on citizen involvement in terms of governance, relatively little attention has been paid to developing e-government systems with a focus on improving citizen involvement, which we call e-governance systems. This paper discusses the characteristics of the e-governance systems, identifies core requirements for its development, and suggests an e-governance system architecture that can satisfy the core requirements.
Implementation and Performance Analysis of a Multichannel Visual Monitoring System based on DirectX

In this paper, we present the result of an efficient implementation of DirectX-based multichannel visual monitoring system and the performance analysis of it. Our proposed system mainly consists of three subsystems: display, storage, and retrieval/playback. The display subsystem is designed to utilize efficiently H/W acceleration, overlay and flip of DirectX for faster real-time display, display synchronization among channels, and improvement of tearing artifact. For the performance improvement of storage speed, the storage subsystem is designed and implemented in DirectShow Filter-based multithreading architecture so that it can store multichannel video streams efficiently in each channel with minimizing data bottleneck among channels. In the retrieval and playback subsystem, efficient index file architecture and video data storage architecture, efficient playback architecture which can make playback be processed parallel among channels are designed and implemented for faster retrieval and playback,. Through experiments, our proposed system is shown to be maximally 2 times as fast in storaging speed and maximally 3.5 times as fast in retrieval and playback speed as the previous system.
Efficient Test Data Compression and Low Power Scan Testing for System-On-a-Chip(SOC)

Testing time and power consumption during testing System-On-a-Chip (SOC) are becoming increasingly important as the IP core increases in a SOC. We present a new algorithm to reduce the scan-in power and test data volume using the modified scan latch reordering. We apply scan latch reordering technique for minimizing the hamming distance in scan vectors. Also, during scan latch reordering, the don't care inputs in scan vectors are assigned for low power and high compression. Experimental results for ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits show that reduced test data and low power scan testing can be achieved in all cases.
