A Study on Student Perception of Participation in Distance Learning : Differences Between Working and Non-Working Students

It is assumed that there is difference between working students and non-working students with respect to distance learning. In this paper, we surveyed attendance in distance learning courses to verify differences in perception of faithfulness, studying time, and completion of content reading. The results are analyzed and reported. The statistical analysis indicates that working students perceive that they are less faithful to their lectures. However, the results pertaining to participation time per week and content reading showed no statistical difference between working students and non-working students.
Implementation of Authoring System for Educational Flash Contents and Reusability Analysis

Flash contents for education can embody easily complex interactions with learner by splendid contents of various multimedia and animation. Moreover, they provide high class user interface and have advantages of inducing learner's interest and concentration. However, authoring flash content requires the skill to use the Flash tool, which is too difficult for professor to make the educational Flash contents. In this paper, we proposed the system that professors can make the Flash contents automatically by selecting something necessary and typing texts on the web. Also, the reusability and usability of the implemented system is analyzed in the viewpoint of professor by comparing with conventional method to reuse the Flash contents from various viewpoints.
Design and Implementation of an Individualized Self-Regulated Learning System

A web-based instructor-learner system has changed the form into a learner-centered environment. Especially a self-regulated learning which is a self-leading and a positive learning, is an ideal learning, and the interest on it is more increasing. In this research, learners can organize the individualized course based on the learner's demand and learning level after making a contract process with the system, The self-regulated learning system which can recognize a learning status and result by analyzed data, and which can lead to a learning goal effectively by establishing a learning strategy, is designed and implemented. The proposed system provides the learner-centered learning environment which can process the differentiated and flexible individualized-teaming service considering an individual characteristic.
An Authoring Strategy for Cyber Learning Contents-based on Ontology

Korean cyber universities now provide higher education service to learners but the courses suffer major limitations of low quality and inefficient format of their learning contents. Because of the absence of any standard authoring strategy for learning contents, tutors develop their own courseware with various formats and content structures. In addition, the lack of association between content learners causes them difficulties in finding and reusing related contents. In this paper, we propose an authoring strategy foradvanced learning contents based on SCORM and ontology. Our strategy improvesthe reusability and associativity of learning contents. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed authoring strategy through developing learning contents such as understanding of digital contents.
A Study of Effective Creating Methods of Philosophy Digital Knowledge Resources

A study of philosophy is a process that archive, reorganize and analyze the earlier works to discover new facts. Philosophy digital resources is necessary to research philosophy because they provide lots of electronic texts, philosophical information, forums, etc. In this paper, we introduce . our result of a research on philosophy digital resources existing in domestic or oversea web sites. We describe the problems which existing resources have and our solution to solve them. Also we provide a guideline to creating philosophy ontology based on topic maps which are data model of ontology. Our philosophy ontology defines hierarchy and associative relationships between philosophical knowledge and support retrieval and exploring of knowledge using semantic information.
A Study on Factors Associated with Effect of e-Learning

e-learning which is beyond time and space restrictions as a new education tool, has been practically used in many fields in order to support instrument or displacement for traditional education. This research shows that the survey on the significance and the effect of e-learning to teachers who have experience in e-learning through the internet compared with effect of tradition education. Furthermore, we investigate variable factors affecting on effect of e-learning, the correlation of factors and coefficient of correlation between factors associated with effects of e-learning based on the results of our survey.
Implementation of CPP/CPA and Registry for ebXML Standard Conformance Testing Tools

Interest in conformance and the issues related to conformance and interoperability testing in ebXML products are rapidly gaining momentum among standards developers, implementers, and users. The goal is to obtain implementations of the standard that correctly perform the functionality specified in the standard. Conformance testing helps to achieve correct implementation. In this paper, we design and implement the CPP(Collaboration Protocol Profile)/CPA(Collaboration Protocol Agreement) and registry for ebXML conformance and interoperability testing tools that observe the standard specification in conformity with ebXML Message Service v2.0, ebXML Registry Service v2.0 and ebXML CPP/A v2.0.
A Study on Advertising Effects of Commercial Films According to the Characteristics of internet users

This study made a comparison of two different websites in characteristics of their users and advertising effects. Both websites have the same contents but in different forms. Especially this study examined the technographic, demographic and psychographic characteristics of users of an website which offers services only online and another website which offers services both online and offline. Also the advertising effects of both websites were studied. The analysis of the data was done by SPSSWIN, mainly
and t-test. In addition, the data was collected online. The website, feelpost.com collected total 432 copies, and cardkorea.com collected 210 copies. Also among those collected copies, the ones from people in the 20's were selected again in order to rule out the special characters that both websites have in their users age group. Finally 308 copies were selected for the analysis. In result, it was proved that the users of both websites have a very similar lifestyle. Also there was only a little difference in the users' values and social consciousness. Regarding the advertising effect, Feelpost got the highest score in usefulness while Cardkorea got the highest score in positive acceptance of new products. Regarding the attitude toward advertisements and products, the advertising preference and brand preference was higher in Feelpost than in Cardkorea.
Traffic Analysis Monitoring System for Web Server Load Balancing

In order to handle client's requests while multiple servers seamlessly work in the web server cluster environment, it is vital to implement a router that execute a routing using TCP information and requested target content. The implemented package software measured packet volume that was generated from data generator, virtual server, and server 1, 2, 3, and could find out traffic distribution toward Server 1, 2, 3. As the result of the study shows, Round Robin Algorithm ensured definite traffic distribution, unless incoming data loads differ much. Although error levels were high in some partial cases, they were eventually alleviated by repeated tests for a longer time.
An Energy-Based Watermarking Algorithm for Digital Images

In this paper, we present a new watermarking algorithm in which a watermark is created based on the energy of the original image and embedded into the image by replacement. The watermark is adjusted to have a certain proportional amount of energy based on one of the original image and embedded into the DFT magnitude component replacing original coefficients. This scheme reduces degree of quality degradation in a watermarked image by maintaining energy and strengthen robustness against attacks by embedding a strong watermark. From the result of experiment, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm had high invisibility of 47.6dB of PSNR and could reconstruct 98.9% of message on average.
A Real-Time Certificate Status Validation Protocol for Reducing the Computational Time in Client and Server - RCSVP

As a research on PKI is being very popular, the study relating to certificate status validation is being grown with aim to reduce an overhead of the protocol and to provide an efficient operation. The OCSP of the standard protocol related to the study enables applications to determine the revocation state of an identified certificate. However, the OCSP server can not service millions of certificate status validation requests from clients in a second on E-commerce because of the computational time for signature and verification. So, we propose the Real-time Certificate Status Validation Protocol(RCSVP) that has smaller computational time than OCSP. RCSVP server reduce the computational time of certificate status validation using hash function and common secret value. Also RCSVP client does not need the computational time of certificate verification to acquire the public key from an identified certificate. Therefore, the proposed protocol enables server to response millions of certificate status validation requests from clients in a second on E-commerce.
A Study on the Methodologies to Assess Network Vulnerability

This paper proposes to analyze a security level about information property systems. This method uses objective and quantitative risk level assessment. The method analyzes administrative, physical and technical aspects of information property system commonly. This method also uses administrative, physical and technical weights. Individually according to requirements security assessment purpose. And it shows risks weighting mean and importance of information property by graph. The most right and up systems in maps is prior to other systems. Also, Quantitative analysis presents more objective and efficient results for security level assessment of information system.
Design of IPv6 Based Traffic Analysis Tool

In the present internet environment, various traffic flooding attacks and worm attacks cause economical loss. If IPv4 is substituted by IPv6 because of the lack of IP address, it will be more serious. Therefore, we design and implement the traffic analysis tool which can detect attacks by expecting them encountered in the IPv6 environment. Proposed tool is composed of packet generation module, packet gathering module, discrimination module, and display module in X-windows. As a simulation result, it is proved that it can effectively detect DAD-NA message attack, TCP SYN flooding attack, UDP flooding attack and ICMP flooding attack in the IPv6 environment.
A Study on the Personality Structure of Characters in the Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro

The personality structure of animation characters is revealed as the characters' roles and behavioral patterns in the drama work as elements of sympathy with the audience. Therefore, character creation is not simply limited to the invention of outward appearance. It must start from understanding the importance of personality structure that leads the plot. Thus the present study examined various personality structures retained in characters, centering on The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro by director Hayao Miyazaki, who has created unique characters. As parts of this research, first, the general characteristics of animation characters were defined. Second, personality types were examined from Carl G. Jung's psychological viewpoint. Analysis was made by connecting the method of classifying personality types based on the multiplicity of personality, namely, 'extroversion and introversion, intuition and sense, thinking and feeling, and judgment and understanding' to the method of classification based on the organic relations among roles in the drama, namely,'victim, persecutor and savior'. Lastly, the research viewpoint derived from the analysis of characters in The Spiriting Away Of Sen And Chihiro was applied. The present study defined the general characteristic revealed by the personality types of characters and their organic relations as 'the personality structure of characters' and documented data. In addition, this study is regarded as meaning in that it suggested an example of the effective creation of animation characters that win the sympathy of the audience.
Research about the Abstraction of Area Typicality of Emotions for Systematization of Human's Sensitivity Symbol

This study is a model of research for the developing 3D character contents about facial expression as a sort of non-linguistic signs, focusing on an expression of emotion factors of a person. It contributes a framework for symbolic analysis about Human's emotions along with a general review of expression. The human face is the most complex and versatile of all species. For humans, the face is a ich and versatile instrument serving many different functions. It serves as a window to display one's own motivational state. This makes one's behavior more predictable and understandable to others and improves communication. The face can be used to supplement verbal communication. A prompt facial display can reveal the speaker's attitude about the information being conveyed. Alternatively, the face can be used to complement verbal communication, such as lifting of eyebrows to lend additional emphasis to stressed word. The facial expression plays a important role under the digital visual context. This study will present a frame of facial expression categories for effective manufacture of cartoon and animation that appeal to the visual emotion of the human.
On the Implementation of a Facial Animation Using the Emotional Expression Techniques

In this paper, we present a FAES(a Facial Animation with Emotion and Speech) system for speech-driven face animation with emotions. We animate face cartoons not only from input speech, but also based on emotions derived from speech signal. And also our system can ensure smooth transitions and exact representation in animation. To do this, after collecting the training data, we have made the database using SVM(Support Vector Machine) to recognize four different categories of emotions: neutral, dislike, fear and surprise. So that, we can make the system for speech-driven animation with emotions. Also, we trained on Korean young person and focused on only Korean emotional face expressions. Experimental results of our system demonstrate that more emotional areas expanded and the accuracies of the emotional recognition and the continuous speech recognition are respectively increased 7% and 5% more compared with the previous method.

Effect of Combined Exercise Program on Body Composition, Health-Related Fitness and Blood Lipid in Middle-Aged Man

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of combined exercise on body composition, health-related fitness and blood lipid. Subjects was ten middle-aged man. The combined exercise program consisted of performed for 60min in a bout, 4 times a week at the intensity of heart rate max
for 12 weeks. and the change of %fat, learn body mass, body mass index, back strength, sit-up, sit and reach total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein cholesterol have been measured before and post exercise 12 weeks. Paired t-test was performed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance.
Implementation of Extended TB-Trees Based on Direct Table for Indexing Trajectories of Moving Objects in LBS Applications

In this paper, we propose an extended TB-tree, called ETB-tree, which can improve the performance of an existing TB-tree proposed for indexing the trajectories of moving objects in Location-Based Service(LBS). The proposed ETB-tree directly accesses the preceding node by maintaining a direct table, called D-Table which contains the page number in disk and memory pointers pointing the leaf node with the first and last lines segment of moving objects. It can improve the insertion performance by quick searching the preceding node of a moving object and retrieval performance owing to accessing directly the corresponding trajectories In disk for the trajectory-based query. In addition, the ETB-tree provides consistency of a tree by reflecting a newly inserted line segment to the tree both in memory and disk. The experimental results show that the proposed indexing technique gains better performance than other traditional ones with respect to the insertion and retrieval of a trajectory query.
Face Detection Using Features of Hair and Faces

In this paper, we present a face detection algorithm which uses the features of color and Geometry of faces and hairs appeared in images. after candidate area detection using color features, background areas are removed by the deviation of luminance in each of candidate areas. And then, final face area is detected using feature of geometry between face and hair. Performance of the presented algorithm is evaluated by detection rate test. The test result showed high detection rate.
Development of an PBS-based Information Provider of Cluster System for MDS

The pervasively proliferated computing environment in recent is a cluster system. This system is used in high performance computing area as a Grid system. However, the important information of cluster system in Grid environment does not provided to other systems. In this paper the scheme to provide these information is proposed. The proposed scheme provides the information of cluster system in the Grid environment. Based on this scheme the utilization possibilities of Grid information services are increased.
A Method for Detecting Inconsistent Element of Software Development Specification

The specifications which are drawn up when developing a software cannot achieve continuous automation because of individual qualities of them, and many inconsistent elements can be discovered even from software audit. In this paper, we establish the standards for the classification of inconsistent items by analysing audit related data in order to maintain the consistency among specifications drawn up in the phases of analysis and design. We propose the specification inconsistent item detection method. This can reduce the error of the specification which is drawn up from analysis and design phase with it will be able to improve the quality of the software which is a last product. Improved Edge Enhanced Error Diffusion Halftoning Using Local Mean and Spatial Variation

The paper proposes the improved error diffusion halftoning system to enhance the edges using the spatial perceptual characteristics of the human visual system. The proposed method computes a spatial variation(SV), which is the difference between a pixel luminance and the average of its
neighborhood pixels' luminances weighted according to the spatial positioning. Information of edge enhancement(IEE) Is computed using the SV and the local average luminance. The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. The performance of the proposed method is compared with conventional methods by measuring the edge correlation. The halftone images by using the proposed method show better quality due to the enhanced edge. And the detailed edge is preserved in the halftone images by using the proposed method.
A Hangul Document Image Retrieval System Using Rank-based Recognition

We constructed a full-text retrieval system for the scanned Hangul document images. The system consists of three parts; preprocessing, recognition, and retrieval components. The retrieval algorithm uses recognition results up to k-ranks. The algorithm is not only insensitive to the recognition errors, but also has the advantage of user-controllable recall and precision. For the objective performance evaluation, we used the scanned images of the Journal of Korea Information Science Society provided by KISTI. The system was shown to be practical through theevaluationofrecognitionandretrievalrates.
Design and Implementation of a Multimedia Greeting System for the Next Generation Mobile Content Service

As wireless internet market grows rapidly, demands of various contents in wireless internet are significantly being increased. The mobile contents have been changed from single media contents such as text and voice to multimedia contents. As the technologies of cellular phone and broadband grow, the development of multimedia contents that can well represent the characteristics of users will be more increased. One example of such content developments is a ring-tone content service. Ring-tone content services have been changed from existing simple ring-tone to various sound services that depend on characteristic of user. In this paper, we design and implement a multimedia greeting system for the next generation mobile content service. Our system produces multimedia greeting contents using various multimedia contents and represents the characteristics of users through the elevation of ring-tone content services.
An Algorithm on Predicting Syllable Numbers of English Monosyllabic Loanwords in Korean

When English monosyllabic words are adapted to the Korean language, the loanwords tend to carry extra syllables. The purpose of this paper is to find the syllable augmentation conditions in loanword adaptation and further to provide an algorithm to predict the syllable numbers of English monosylabic loanwords. Three syllable augmentation conditions are found as follows: 1) the existence of diphthong, 2) the existence of consonant clusters, and 3) the quality of the final consonant (and the preceding vowel). Based on these three conditions, an algorithm to predict the syllable number of English monosyllabic loanwords are proposed as three rules applied iteratively with ordering. In addition, the applications of the algorithm to data are given.
Design and Implementation of SIP-based Multi-party Conference System Including Presence Service

As developing of the internet and computer technology, more interests are gathered to the conference service which provides capability of multi-party real-time visual conference. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a SIP-based visual conference system which includes Presence service. The elements of this conference system are user system, which has conference UA(User Agent) capability, presence seuer and conference server. For the presence service, we have adapted publication method which uses SIP PUBLISH message, and with this service various status informations of users are easily acquired. Also invitations and involvements to the conference are easily made through this service. For the conference server which controls establishment and management of multi-party connections, we have included conference event package. This package provides dynamically changing conference informations and users informations through SIP subscription and notification functions.
A Study on Hand Recognition in Image for Multimedia System

In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which cognize hand pose in real time using only image. Hand recognizes using edge orientation histogram which comes under a constant quantity of 2D appearance because hand pose is intricate. This method suit hand pose recognition in real time because it extracts hand space accurately, has little computation quantify, and is less sensitive to lighting change using color information in complicated background. Method which reduces recognition error using principal component analysis method to can recognize through hand shape presentation direction change is explained. A case that hand shape changes by turning 3D also by using this method is possible to recognize. Besides, principal component space creation time is reduced remarkably because edge directional data is used.
Connector Design and Automatic Creation for Components Assembly

In view of component based development, system development has replaced by assembling existent software components instead of coding and now component assembly research has progressed. In this paper, we formalized the specification using relationship between components for component assembly. If components are assembled through connector, the assembly is available without method call or modification. Therefore in this paper, we formalized the specification and constraint condition for creation of connector which connects components so that the connector is created automatically through the specification and constraint condition.
