Face Detection in Color Images Based on Skin Region Segmentation and Neural Network

Many research demonstrations and commercial applications have been tried to develop face detection and recognition systems. Human face detection plays an important role in applications such as access control and video surveillance, human computer interface, identity authentication, etc. There are some special problems such as a face connected with background, faces connected via the skin color, and a face divided into several small parts after skin region segmentation in generally. It can be allowed many face detection techniques to solve the first and second problems. However, it is not easy to detect a face divided into several parts of regions for reason of different illumination conditions in the third problem. Therefore, we propose an efficient modified skin segmentation algorithm to solve this problem because the typical region segmentation algorithm can not be used to. Our algorithm detects skin regions over the entire image, and then generates face candidate regions using our skin segmentation algorithm For each face candidate, we implement the procedure of region merging for divided regions in order to make a region using adjacency between homogeneous regions. We utilize various different searching window sizes to detect different size faces and a face detection classifier based on a back-propagation algorithm in order to verify whether the searching window contains a face or not.
Electronic Payment Protocol using GDHP Blind Signature Scheme

In this paper, we propose electronic payment protocol using GDHP blind signature scheme to activate e-business in the wire/wireless integrated environment. The protocol applied elliptic curve algorithm on the GDHP base and improved the efficiency of the existing blind signature technique on the basis of communication frequency and calculation number. And the protocol accelerated speed and strengthened safety against man-in-the-middle attacks and forward secrecy because the certification between individuals is performed by the session key created by Weil paring using elliptic curve cryptosystem in the limited entity
instead of the certification used in the existing PayWord protocol.
Bilateral Symmetry Averaging and Simple Regression Analysis for Robust Face Detection Against Illumination Variation

In a face detection system based on template matching, histogram equalization or log transform is applied to an input image for the intensity normalization and the image improvement. It is known that they are noneffective in improving an image with intensity distortion by illumination variation. In this paper, we propose an efficient image improvement method using a simple regression analysis combined with a bilateral symmetry average for images with intensity distortion by illumination variation. Experimental results show that our method delivers the detection performance better than previous methods and also remarkably reduces the number of face candidates.
Development of Malicious Traffic Detection and Prevention System by Embedded Module on Wireless LAN Access Point

With the increasing popularity of the wireless network, the vulnerability issue on IEEE 802.1x Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) are more serious than we expected. Security issues range from mis-configured wireless Access Point(AP) such as session hijacking to Denial of Service(DoS) attack. We propose a new system based on intrusion detection or prevention mechanism to protect the wireless network against these attacks. The proposed system has a security solution on AP that includes an intrusion detection and protection system(IDS/IPS) as an embedded module. In this paper, we suggest integrated wireless IDS/IPS module on AP with wireless traffic monitoring, analysis and packet filtering module against malicious wireless attacks. We also present that the system provides both enhanced security and performance such as on the university wireless campus network.
Implementation of Static Address-Internetworking Scheme between Wireless Sensor Network and Internet

As a promising integrated circuit, wireless communication and micro-computing technology, the technology of sensor network that will lead the information technology industries of the next generation and realize the ubiquitous computing is one of the most active research topics and its research activities are also making today. From now on, each node, the network formation, and even the sensor network itself will interact with the generic network and evolve dynamically according to environmental changes in a process of continual creation and extinction. Therefore, address-internetworking between sensor network and generic network which are used different address mechanism is required. In this paper, we propose a static address-internetworking scheme for interactive networking between a sensor network and the Internet. The proposed scheme that possess a gateway approach to perform the protocol translation from one protocol to another, an overlay approach to constructs an overlay network on the WSNs and enables static internetworking between a sensor network address scheme based on Zigbee and the Internet address scheme based on the Internet Protocol. In addition, we verify the proposed scheme by an interconnection experiment.
Design of a Mutual Exclusion Algorithm in Mobile Distributed Systems

The mutual exclusion (MX) paradigm can be used as a building block in many practical problems such as group communication, atomic commitment and replicated data management where the exclusive use of an object might be useful. The problem has been widely studied in the research community since one reason for this wide interest is that many distributed protocols need a mutual exclusion protocol. However, despite its usefulness, to our knowledge there is no work that has been devoted to this problem in a mobile computing environment. In this paper, we describe a solution to the mutual exclusion problem from mobile computing systems. This solution is based on the token-based mutual exclusion algorithm.
Design of Shared Memory-based Inter-ORB Protocol for Communication Systems

Since communication systems software is very large and complex, it requires component based architecture for software reusability, hardware transparency, high performance, and easy software reconstruction in different applications. In order to meet these requirements, we analyze performance and inter-process communication techniques of existing CORBA IIOP, and designed a shared memory-based CORBA inter-ORB protocol that would best fit for communication systems software. The designed protocol supports the same interface and can minimize the message transfer overhead in the same host environment. The test results of our protocol compared with other protocols show that the performance is increased by about 15%-200%. We are thus assumed that our protocol can be used in developing CORBA-based component software architecture for communication systems.
Java API for Energy Saving on Real-Time Operating System

Recently, embedded systems like mobile and portable devices are quickly disseminated around the world. Since these.devices need more computation power as the applications become gradually complicated, the bettery lifetime becomes the most serious constraints. So research efforts have been focused on reducing the power consumption, resulting in producing devices with low-power H/W and S/W components. In this paper, we propose a low-power Java API set using the dynamic power management (DPM) scheme in the J2ME Java Platform on the real-time operating system UbiFOSTM and show that we could save energy up to 30% through experiments using the API set.
Comparative Analysis of Determination of Method Location between Classes

In Object-Oriented Paradigm, various cohesion measurements have been studied taking into account reference relation among components - like attributes and methods - that belong to a class. In addition, a number of methods have taken into research utilizing manual analysis, that is performed by developer's intuition and experience, and automatic analysis in refactoring field. The verification of objective criteria is demanded in order to process automatic refactoring. In this paper, we propose a method exploiting logistic regression and neural network for analysis of the relationship between six factors considering reference relation and method location among classes. Experimental results demonstrate that the logistic regression predicts the results up to 97% and the neural network predicts the outcomes up to 90%. Hence, we conclude that the logistic regression based method is more effective to predict the method location. Moreover, more than 90% of experimental results from both methods show that the six factors used in Move Method in refactoring are suitable to be used as an objective criteria.
Robust Blind Source Separation to Noisy Environment For Speech Recognition in Car

The performance of blind source separation(BSS) using independent component analysis (ICA) declines significantly in a reverberant environment. A post-processing method proposed in this paper was designed to remove the residual component precisely. The proposed method used modified NLMS(normalized least mean square) filter in frequency domain, to estimate cross-talk path that causes residual cross-talk components. Residual cross-talk components in one channel is correspond to direct components in another channel. Therefore, we can estimate cross-talk path using another channel input signals from adaptive filter. Step size is normalized by input signal power in conventional NLMS filter, but it is normalized by sum of input signal power and error signal power in modified NLMS filter. By using this method, we can prevent misadjustment of filter weights. The estimated residual cross-talk components are subtracted by non-stationary spectral subtraction. The computer simulation results using speech signals show that the proposed method improves the noise reduction ratio(NRR) by approximately 3dB on conventional FDICA.
Analysis of Data Transmission Rate and Power Consumption in Zigbee Based Electrocardiography

In this study, data transmission ratio and power consumption issues of Zigbee based sensor module and personal digital assistant(PDA) were addressed to develop ECG telemetry device. PDA processes the data transmitted through serial port using non-blocking method. The transmission rate was dependent on the packet structure. It was 300 ECG samples/sec, when each packet was composed of 2 ECG data and 3-axial acceleration vector. Using two AAA batteries in series, operating time of the wireless sensor module was above 28 hours in average. Power consumption of PDA was dependent on screen ON/OFF condition and serial port usage. In this application, operating time of PDA was 5 hours in average. In conclusion, there was no problem in the power consumption of wireless sensor module and transmission rate, when the developed device was used as 24 hour Holter device. But, PDA has the problem of power consumption, which should be solved.
Performance Improvement of Automatic Basal Cell Carcinoma Detection Using Half Hanning Window

In this study, we propose a simple preprocessing method for classification of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), which is one of the most common skin cancer. The preprocessing step consists of data clipping with a half Hanning window and dimension reduction with principal components analysis (PCA). The application of the half Hanning window deemphasizes the peak near
and improves classification performance by lowering the false negative ratio. Classification results with various classifiers are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. The classifiers include maximum a posteriori probability (MAP), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), probabilistic neural network (PNN), multilayer perceptron(MLP), support vector machine (SVM) and minimum squared error (MSE) classification. Classification results with KNN involving 216 spectra preprocessed with the proposed method gave 97.3% sensitivity, which is very promising results for automatic BCC detection.
Design and Development of Clustering Algorithm Considering Influences of Spatial Objects

This paper proposes DBSCAN-SI that is an algorithm for clustering with influences of spatial objects. DBSCAN-SI that is extended from existing DBSCAN and DBSCAN-W converts from non-spatial properties to the influences of spatial objects during the spatial clustering. It increases probability of inclusion to the cluster according to the higher the influences that is affected by the properties used in clustering and executes the clustering not only respect the spatial distances, but also volume of influences. For the perspective of specific property-centered, the clustering technique proposed in this paper can makeup the disadvantage of existing algorithms that exclude the objects in spite of high influences from cluster by means of being scarcely close objects around the cluster.
System Theory Approach for Decision Making of GIS-based Optimum Allocation

As information technologies are improving, geographical information system (GIS) technologies are also developing rapidly and demands for spatial analysis with GIS are increasing. Particularly, the spatial analyses with GIS researches have been noted rather than general GIS researches. However, most GIS researches focus on space dimension: a density-based clustering method (DBSCAN) or a DBSCAN algorithm using region expressed as Weight (DBSCAN-W) but the importance of rational decision making based on time dimension has been neglected. This study adopts system dynamics in order to put time dimension in GIS-based optimum allocation.
Implementation of Ubiquitous Port Operation System Using RTLS

RTLS(Real Time Location System) is the system to provide information and real-time location of tagged objects by using RTLS tag. In this paper, in order to enhance the performance of the port operation system, and efficient operation method of yard is suggested by applying RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)-based RTLS that provides real-time accurate positions of containers. In the group-based loading sequence system, the containers in the same group should have the similar characteristics such as POD(Port of Destination), size, weight, etc. In order to run this system, we propose the scheme using the parameters to the unspecified N bytes of RFID tag specified in ISO 18000-7. According to simulation result, the group-based system reduces the re-handling ratio of TC(Transfer Crane) in yard. It will reduce the whole lead-time in the process of port pogistics.
Implementation of LMPR on TinyOS for Wireless Sensor Network

In Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) a sensor node transfers sensing data to the base-node through multi-hop because of the limited transmission range. Also because of the limited energy of the sensor node, the sensor nodes are required to consume their energy evenly to prolong the lifetime of the network. LMPR is a routing protocol for WSN, LMPR configures the network autonomously based on level which is the depth from the base-node, and distributes the transmission and computation load of the network to each sensor node. This paper implements LMPR on TinyOS and experiments on the performance of LMPR in WSN. As the result, the average of the received rate of LMPR is 91.39% and LMPR distributes the load of the transmission and computation about 4.6 times compare to the shortest cost routing protocol. We expect LMPR evenly distributes the transmission and computation load of the network to each node, and the lifetime of the network will be longer than it used to be.
Transformation of Urban Spatial Structure by Using Historical Geographic Information - Case Study of Shenyang in China -

The final purpose of this study is to explore morphological change of Shenyang in the period of the rising Chung Dynasty. For that purpose we have tried to build the historical GIS DB of site and analysis of the structure and shape pattern of the city by using the functions of GIS. From the view of spatial structure and cultural context, main characteristics, which is derived from the analysis of ancient map of Shenyang, can be summarized into five things as follows ; transformation of open spatial structure into closed structure, combination of horizontal spatial structure with vertical structure, transformation of practical spatial structure into symbolic structure, transformation of natural spatial structure into institutional form of ancient Chinese capital city, conservation of traditional Manchurian culture.
Simulation for the Propagation Pattern Analysis of Code Red Worm

It was well known that how much seriously the Internet worm such as the Code Red had an effect on our daily activities. Recently the rapid growth of the Internet speed will produce more swift damage us in a short term period. In order to defend against future worm, we need to understand the propagation pattern during the lifetime of worms. In this paper, we analyze the propagation pattern of the Code Red worm by a computer simulation. In particular, we show that an existing simulation result about the number of infectious hosts does not match the observed data, and then we introduce a factor of revised human countermeasures into the simulation. We also show the simulation results presenting the importance of patching and pre-patching of the Internet worm.

Design and Implementation of Dynamic Binding System among the Devices Located in Inside and Outside of Home Networks

Since home network system is usually set up based on the built-in system inside home at the time of construction, it has a difficulty in being compatible with new devices after construction. In this paper, we propose DBS(Dynamic Binding System) that can make links effectively among the devices located in inside and outside of home networks. Implementation of the DBS is based on the ZigBee's binding in WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network). For this research, we constructed the system consisting of home server that contains proxy server and location server, devices inside home in which tinyOS is embedded, and mobile device that is an emulator. The communication inside home is done by IEEE 802.15.4 protocol and the communication between servers and mobile devices outside home is done by TCP/IP protocol. Regardless of device's address format, the DBS facilitates a link among the devices located inside and outside of home networks. And, introducing a new device into home network can be recognized easily by exchanging messages between devices.
Design and Implementation of Ontology Based Search System for Problem Based Learning

It is a difficult problem that learner have to need much times and efforts to search informations for problem solving. This is caused that the web based search system used by this time have the searching method of simple keyword matching. The searching method of simple keyword matching search informations by method of whether it is simply matched with keyword. Therefore, Learner have to much times and efforts to search informations, and may lose or be out of his bearing. To solve this problems, We design and implement a ontology based search system. This system is apply to PBL of social studies on middle school students. As a result, This system is more effect than the web based search system used by this time.
Identification of English Labial Consonants by Korean EFL Learners

The perception of English labial consonants was investigated via experiment where 40 Korean EFL learners identified nonwords with the target labial consonants [p, b, f, v] in 4 different prosodic locations: initial onset position, intervocalic position before stress, intervocalic position after stress, and final coda position. The overall result showed that the proportion of perception accuracy of the target consonants was rather low, amounting to only 55%. There was also a positional effect since the accuracy rates for perceiving the four target consonants differed by position. Specifically, the average accuracy rate of the target consonant identification was higher in intervocalic position before stress (70%) and initial onset position (67%) than in intervocalic position after stress (45%) and final coda position (36%). Further, the accuracy rate for [f] is was high in all prosodic locations except intervocalic position after stress. The perception patterns were accounted for by the markedness and perceptual factors in conjunction with stress location.
Design and Implementation of WBI Courseware Based on Learning Activities for Studying Angle Subject at Elementary School

With the appearance of the Internet and the development of the World Wide Web, web-based education has made individual and selective learning centered on students in cyberspace available at any time and anywhere. In this paper, we design and implement courseware for a web-based 4th-year elementary school mathematics course. In order to make it as student-centered as possible, the courseware adopted learning activities using various Flash animation and design methodology to enhance students' interest to complete all parts of the course. When we gave our WBI courseware to 4th-year elementary school students to use, their achievement in the subject was greater than a group who studied with the traditional course. The results of the question investigation of the experimental group showed a positive reaction and increased educational achievements in the fields of comprehension, interest, convenience and reflection on self-directed learning.
Design and Implementation of Teaching Material and Tools Management Program for Kindergartens

The purpose of this study is to present a plan to design and utilize effectively useful software program in dealing with Teaching Materials and Tools Management in all infant education institute. This program is called Teaching Materials and Tools Management and it is based on the national kindergarten Curriculum notified by ministry of education. To achieve this goal, all teaching materials should be kept to classify and use easily regardless of their shape, kind, and maker(manufacturer). Teaching materials and tools once used in class should be kept after being repaired, And if it is difficult to repair them, write down detail information about them for any teacher to repair them easily. Teaching materials and tools should classified efficiently after being used and registered to recognize their information at first glance. Teaching materials and tools should be registered with an index to manage curriculum effectively when establishing a year plan.
Design and Implementation of Web Based PBL System for Physical Education Science

Teaching methods should focus on enabling the students to adopt an open mind towards new experiences and to be flexible to change. Moreover, their purpose lies in encouraging the students to build their ability to discern values so that they can make the right decisions when they are at a crossroad. However, traditional teaching methods were centered on textbooks and on the teachers. This type of teaching method needs to change so that the new teaching method will focus on the students themselves, taking levels of individual students into consideration to enable development of their creativity in line with the demands made during the 21st century, an era of information and globalization. Projected learning method is appropriate for the Physical Education (PE) classes where various activities aim to increase the level of cooperation among students and their investigative skills. Moreover, PE classes pay special attention to the practical aspect. Accordingly, this research makes recommendations for the class execution methods based on projected learning by improving the curriculum for the PE classes, and the effect of these methods are subject to verification.
Effect of Kinesio Taping on Isokinetic Muscular Function and Pain of Knee Joint in Elderly Women

The aim of this study were to evaluate the effect of kinesio taping on isokinetic muscular function and pain of knee joint. The subjects for this study were twelve elderly women(
years) suffered by knee joint pain over more than three years. The taping methods performed on 3 times a week for 8 weeks for improvement of isokinetic muscular function. Also, the change of visual analogue scale(VSA) and varval rating scale(VRA) has been measured before and post taping 8 weeks. Paired t-test was performed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance. After 8 weeks, the results of the study are as follow; First, peak torque, peak torque % BW, total work and ipsilateral balance ratio were significantly improved. And, work fatigue, visual analogue scale and verval rating scale were decreased significantly after 8 weeks taping. The results suggest that applying kinesio taping on knee joint may improve isokinetic muscular function of elderly women. Therefore kinesio taping method was effective for pain relief and prevention of knee joint pain in the elderly women.
Plan for Improvement of Local Governments' Roles for Effective Countermeasures for Disasters - Centering on Comparison with USA and Japan -

In this study, in order to grope for local governments' roles for effective countermeasures for disasters, the researcher did comparative research on such roles of local governments of the USA and japan. In case of the USA and japan, their local governments take the 1st responsibility for quick countermeasures for disasters and cope with disasters in cooperation with central government and NGO, etc. In conclusion, in order to make Korea's system to cope with disasters more effective, first it is necessary to readjust roles of central government and local governments. In other words, in case of the USA and japan, law provides that initial responsibility for coping with disasters lies in local governments. Accordingly, when disaster happens, initial countermeasures are quickly made by local governments. It is also possible for local governments to secure organizations, tools and manpower in their own ways. Therefore, in case of Korea, it is also urgently required to divide roles for disaster management between central government and local governments. Second, it is necessary to establish local disaster management system per type that is proper for regional characteristics and situations. Third, it is necessary to form organic networks between civic groups, local private enterprises, and central government. Fourth, informatization of local disaster management system must be prepared quickly. Finally, in order to do local governments' activities to cope with sites smoothly, specialization of manpower is required. Accordingly, it is necessary to train professional manpower of local governments for disaster management and to develop programs to improve specialty.
Incremental Effect and Determinants of Equity to Shareholders in Regal Management - Focusing on Non-Listed Firms -

The main results of this study can by summarized as follows. First, the incremental effect of equity to shareholders is common in the sample of this study. The sample contains 46 non-listed firms that filed for legal management and had confirmed their reorganization plans. Second, the results of the regression model analyzing the determinants of incremental equity to shareholders in legal management show that it is negative related to the solvency(total debt/total asset), firm size, and weight of claims for secured creditors and banks significantly. But corporate reorganization period(from filing to confirmation)are not significant.

As media and product became variety, the propensity of the people is be coming various. From diversity, there we could search for some popularity is called 'the mania.' When Mania takes shape, the product will being longer even masses in these days only have short-term life. Also there are hundreds of animations that has short-term life whom people forgot everyday they watch. However, the animations could lasting its value which has the Mania. This thesis is a studies on the constitution of Mania from animation 'Fullmetal Alchemist's Character The BONES had made. We can learn that the audience were not just like the animation, but get crazy for it by comparing Japanese animation industry in those days; before it has been shrinking and manufacturing various contents from Fullmetal Alchemist means there is enough consumtions. There are many reasons to form Mania group, but specially the character symbols at the works as a whole. From this study is to know a cause of how the animation 'Fullmetal Alchemist' made huge Mania group, and significance value of the work those group left.
A Study on Visual Perception of Hologram Advertisement

A hologram is a three-dimensional image reproduced from a pattern of interference produced by a split coherent beam of radiation. Therefore not only can it express the three dimensional properties of the object, but because of it ability to show the depth and spatial properties of the object holograms may be a more effective tool in advertising for its visual appeal. This study presents 'hologram'a three dimensional stereo imaging, as the expression technique in advertising of the next generation, and with proper understanding of 'hologram' and of all its potential applications discusses opportunities for advertisements that are distinct from the multi media advertisements of today. The basic concept of Holograms and their application methods were presented in the thesis, and by using Sales Promotion advertisement as example, discussed what elements are required in order to produce an effective advertisement using holograms.
Interactive Animation by Action Recognition

In this paper, we propose an interactive system that generates emotional expressions from arm gestures. By extracting relevant features from key frames, we can infer emotions from arm gestures. The necessary factor for real-time animation is tremendous frame rates. Thus, we propose processing facial emotion expression with 3D application for minimizing animation time. And we propose a method for matching frames and actions. By matching image sequences of exagerrated arm gestures from participants, they feel that they are communicating directly with the portraits.

The purpose of this study was to investigate factors of film aesthetics, a core of creative power for works, and reference indicators to establish the successful model for works by analyzing Mise-en-scene through case works focused on domestic digital 3D short snimation that has developed consistently in recent years. As to the frame of analysis for Mise-en-scene, this study applied to the concept of triple articulation under discussion in U. Eco's film semiotics, but each factor is semes, figures, and cinemorphes. The case works were focused on
by a film director Park Se Jong who was nominated for the Academy Award in 2005, and secured its objectivity.
A Study on the Inherent Space Structure of MMA as Cultural Contents

New Recently introduced to domestic market, MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) is growing very rapidly, thereby acquiring the property of sub-culture. With its proper function of providing dynamism and vitality, it also becomes the target of apprehension for its social dysfunction due to excessive violence. However, it is important to recognize MMA as a phenomenon and to understand the cultural flow inside MMA. It is required that the space where MMA is held should provide new experience in each contest. It is necessary to prepare very diverse productions for this purpose. While comprehension on this cultural and spatial phenomenon could mean one of starting point of space creation of space designer, it is necessary to study in the contextual aspect including historic and psychological approach. Thus, this study aims to understand one of the diverse meanings of modem space by investigating the space inherent in the phenomenon of MMA.

Characteristics of Media Image Expressed in Impressionism Monet's Works

Before the appearance of luc-media image, art is performed by the hands of man. That was the best of the reality and the absolute standard of reality. However the appearance of luc-media image brings together the scientific thoughts on realism, which gave birth to 'impressionism' where 'light' becomes the most important part in art as well as in luc-media image and analyzed scientifically. In this paper, I'd like to analyze 5 paintings of Monet, a representative of the impressionism, chronically and present the various aspects of luc-media image as follows; 'picture the present moment', 'picture the light', 'picture the sound and movement', 'picture in the several frames', 'picture continuous frames'. These image phenomenon presented in this paper are mainly concerned with the photograph image, because the time when impressionists entered the stage was the age of photograph image, accordingly there are a little difference from digital image.
