Effective Recommendation Method Adaptive to Multiple Contexts in Ubiquitous Environments
Kwon Joon-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 5, 2006, Pages 1~8
In ubiquitous environments, recommendation service based on multiple contexts is required. The total amount of information is larger due to the greater number of contexts in multiple context environments. This paper proposes a new effective recommendation method adaptive to multiple contexts in ubiquitous environments. A new method of recommendations in multiple context environments is suggested that uses user's preferences and behavior as a weighting factor. This paper describes the recommendation method, scenario and the experimental results. The results verify that the proposed method's recommendation performance is better than other existing method.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 5, 2006, Pages 20~28
This paper proposes visual-feature extraction for each band in wavelet domain with both spatial frequency features and multi resolution features, and the combination of visual features using fuzzy integral. In addition, it uses color feature expression method taking advantage of the frequency of the same color after color quantization for reducing quantization error, a disadvantage of the existing color histogram intersection method. Also, it is found that the final similarity can be represented in a linear combination of the respective factors(Homogram, color, energy) when each factor is independent one another. With respect to the combination patterns the fuzzy measurement is defined and the fuzzy integral is taken. Experiments are peformed on a database containing 1,000 color images. The proposed method gives better performance than the conventional method in both objective and subjective performance evaluation.
On the Tail Series Laws of Large Numbers for Independent Random Elements in Banach Spaces
Nam Eun-Woo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 5, 2006, Pages 29~34
For the almost certainly convergent series
of independent random elements in Banach spaces, by investigating tail series laws of large numbers, the rate of convergence of the series
to a random variable s is studied in this paper. More specifically, by studying the duality between the limiting behavior of the tail series
of random variables and that of Banach space valued random elements, an alternative way of proving a result of the previous work, which establishes the equivalence between the tail series weak law of large numbers and a limit law, is provided in a Banach space setting.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 5, 2006, Pages 42~55
In most multimedia systems, the environment is considered as a passive background. In virtual environment simulating real world, however, terrain affects many events such as wind, rain, cloud. Therefore, it is necessary to model terrain and meteorological phenomenon in order to simulate realistic virtual environment. In those modeling, not only height and location information but also environmental factors such as temperature and humidity are important. An event is composed of many activities and subevents based on causality and consists of precondition , procedure and effects. Each part of an event is formulated in terms of a number of parameter variables, which correspond to its associated factors on existence or states of entities and relation. This paper represents terrain and environmental factor using contour map. Moreover, we define various events and their procedures in terms of causality in virtual environment.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 5, 2006, Pages 85~95
In this paper, we propose a method for simplifying the modeling of 'walk' for various instances of quadruped and easily extending the model of 'walk' for the instance of new subordinate class which is not defined in the original class hierarchy by using the sophisticatedly modeled 'walk' of quadruped. To achieve this method, we apply the analyzed pattern of walk and classification according to the structural similarity of quadruped studied in the previous researches to the class hierarchy and propose a method for inheriting the actions of super class. This paper model the 'walk' of quadruped by concertizing the characteristics of quadruped and defining the necessary factors and appropriate domains in terms of parameters of 'walk' and apply the model to the horse and cow, typical instances of quadruped.
