Ro Cheul-Woo ; Lee Kwang-Eui ; Kim Kyung-Min ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 1~8
In a CDMA system, minimizing handoff calls is an important factor for user satisfaction. In this paper, we divide the cell area into two regions: normal region and soft handoff region. And we show that differentiating the guard channel numbers in those two regions make handoff calls minimized. We develop an SRN based cell model consists of normal and soft handoff region and analyze the performance of the model.
Virtual Topology Reconfiguration Algorithm for Implementing the WDM-based Cluster
Park Byoung-Seob ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 9~18
We completed a new cluster system based on WDM by proposing a virtual topology reconfiguration schemes. The key idea of the proposed scheme is to construct a set with the longest chains of requests of connecting nodes which need to be assigned a wavelength. All the sets have no common factor, that is, there is no duplicated link among the requests of connecting. After making the set satisfying this condition, we could assign a wavelength to per corresponding set. We could reconfigure a virtual topology with this scheme collectively. we compared our scheme to existing approaches by the OWns simulation tool. As the results, we gained improved performances, reducing 10% of blocking rate and improving 30% of ADM utilization in terms of the blocking probability and the ADM utilization.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 19~27
Mean shift procedure is applied for the data points in the joint spatial-range domain and achieves a high quality. However, a color image is segmented differently according to the inputted spatial parameter or range parameter and the demerit is that the image is broken into many small regions in case of the small parameter. In this paper, to improve this demerit, we propose the method that groups similar regions using region merging method for over-segmented images. The proposed method converts a over-segmented image in RGB color space into in HSI color space and merges similar regions by hue information. Here, to preserve edge information, the region merge constraints are used to decide whether regions are merged or not. After then, we merge the regions in RGB color space for non-processed regions in HSI color space. Experimental results show the superiority in region's segmentation results.

Kim In-Guk ; Cha Seong-Duk ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 28~41
Recently, Baruah et.al. proposed an optimal Pfair scheduling algorithm in the hard real-time multiprocessor environments, and several variants of it were presented. All these algorithms assume the fixed unit quantum size, and this assumption has two problems in the mode change environments. If the quantum size is too large, it results in the scheduling failure due to the decreased processor utilization. If it is too small, it increases the frequency of scheduling points, and it incurs the task switching overheads. In this paper, we propose several methods that determine the maximum quantum size dynamically such that the task set can be scheduled in the mode change environments.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 50~59
This paper proposes an automatic video monitoring system and its application to emergency detection by analyzing human behavior using neural network. The object area is identified by subtracting the statistically constructed background image from the input image. The identified object area then is transformed to the feature vector. Neural network has been adapted for analyzing the human behavior using the feature vector, and is designed to classify the behavior in rather simple numerical calculation. The system proposed in this paper is able to classify the three human behavior: stand, faint, and squat. Experiment results shows that the proposed algorithm is very efficient and useful in detecting the emergency situation.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 98~107
By improving performance of mobile machine(3D engine, 3D accelerator chip set, etc) and developing wireless network technology, a demand for actual contents of users is being increased rapidly. But, there are some difficulties yet for the speedy development of actual contents because of the limitation of development resources that is dependent on each mobile device's different performance. In general, much of the animated character-creation work for mobile environment is still done manually by experienced animator with the method of key frame processing. However, it needs a lot of time and more costs for creating motion. Additionally, it is possible to cause a distortion of motion. In this paper, I solved the difficulties by using a optical motion capture system, it was able to acquire accurate motion data more easily and quickly, and then it was possible to make 3D dance contents efficiently. Also, I showed techniques of key reduction and controlling frame number for using huge amounts of motion capture data in mobile environment which requires less resources. In making 3D dance contents, using an optical motion capture system was verified that it was more efficient to make and use actual-reality contents by creating actual character motion and by decreasing processing time than existing method.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 124~131
Motion graphic is also developing into its own genre in graphic design by establishing individual industrial fields. images and graphics but also recognize even motions and sounds as communication elements delivering a message. Nevertheless, web communication designers have yet to experimentally test the visual motion priniciples or the audio sound expressions in terms of technology. If the dance are used, they may be new communication approaches in the age of multi-media, which allows for communication of visual and audio information or images. With such conceptions in mind, this study was aimed at reviewing the structural relationship between visual motion principles of the kinetic and the sound images to combine the audio and video effects. To this end, the basic structure of dance and music were substituted into the dance to determine their relevancy, and thereupon, examine the effective sound expression methods and techniques depending on movements of the objects in the monitor. Thus, this study, by inquiring into the uniqueness of choreography in motion graphic, presents the possibility of limitless expression of designer creation and inner world, and the ultimate goal lies in assuring the artistic value of motion graphic and its position as a synthetic art.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 152~163
The development of Semantic Web basically requires knowledge induced from the formalization and semantization of information, and thus ontology should be introduced as a knowledgization tool. URI(Universal Resource Identifier) is an indispensible scheme to uniquely indicate individuals on ontology. However, it is difficult to find the use cases of URI in real data including science and technology papers. This paper describes the method to construct internal and external human resource information based on URI from the papers. We use co-authors, e-mails, publication date, and affiliation for discriminating authors with the same strings. HRST(Human Resources devoted to Science and Technology) is referred to acquire URIs for human resource. We expect the internal and external human resource information would be adopted to outcome analysis applications such as researcher network analysis and outcome statistics.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 6, issue 9, 2006, Pages 164~173
As the CG images in the films and the games are getting more realistic by the development of computer graphics, the requests of technique that can develop the various digital contents has also increased. However, the techniques developed for the studies and simulations of the ecological system and adaptation in the ocean, are insufficient compared with those on the ground. This paper propose a method of modeling to simulate the growth of ocean objects according to the variation of virtual ocean environment and the efficient metamorphosis based on the movement of the objects. By modeling the ocean objects with the anisotropic metacubes, it is possible to represent easily the growth and metamorphosis of fishes as the movement in the virtual environment of ocean.
