DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.001
The images, which were acquired from various systems such as CCTV and Robot, include many human faces. Because of a rapid increase in visual data, we cannot process these manually; rather we need to do these automatically. Furthermore, companies require automatic security systems to protect their new technology. There are various options available to us, including face recognition, iris recognition and fingerprint recognition. Face recognition is preferable since it does not require direct contact. However, the standard 2-Dimensional method is limited, so Morphable Models may be recommended as an alternative. The original morphable model, made by MPI, contains a large quantity of data such as texture and geometry data. This paper presents a Geometrix-based morphable model designed to reduce this data capacity.
Realtime Facial Expression Control of 3D Avatar by Isomap of Motion Data
Kim, Sung-Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 9~16
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.009
This paper describe methodology that is distributed on 2-dimensional plane to much high-dimensional facial motion datas using Isomap algorithm, and user interface techniques to control facial expressions by selecting expressions while user navigates this space in real-time. Isomap algorithm is processed of three steps as follow; first define an adjacency expression of each expression data, and second, calculate manifold distance between each expressions and composing expression spaces. These facial spaces are created by calculating of the shortest distance(manifold distance) between two random expressions. We have taken a Floyd algorithm for it. Third, materialize multi-dimensional expression spaces using Multidimensional Scaling, and project two dimensions plane. The smallest adjacency distance to define adjacency expressions uses Pearson Correlation Coefficient. Users can control facial expressions of 3-dimensional avatar by using user interface while they navigates two dimension spaces by real-time.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.017
SIP-based tightly coupled conference, which has a centrally located conference server for controlling and management, can be classified several models according to location of focus and mixer. These are centralized server model, endpoint server model, media server component model and distributed mixing model. However each model has its strength and weakness. In this paper, we propose and implement a SIP-based effective hybrid-type conference model which decreases amount of SIP signaling messages, lowers load of server media mixer, and can be easily expandable to large scale conference. In this model, when the number of participants exceeds a pre-defined limit, the conference server selects some participants which posses specific functions and let them share functions of notifications of conference state event package and media mixing. When each participant subscribes conference state event package to the server, it can indicates its possession of such functions by a specific header message. The server stores the indication to the conference information database, and later uses it to select participants for load sharing. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.025
The unexpected failure may cause a break in power system and loss of profits. Therefore it Is important to prevent abrupt faults by monitoring the condition of power systems. In this paper, we develop intelligent diagnosis technique for predicting faults of power transformer which plays an important role in the transmission and distribution systems among the various power facilities by using FCM and SOM. More specifically, FCM is used to select the efficient training data and reducing learning process time and SOM is used to diagnosis the power transformer. The proposed technique makes it possible to measures the possibility of aging as well as the faults occurred in transformer To demonstrate the validity of proposed method, various experiments are performed and their results are presented.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 34~41
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.034
The presence service which provides user's presence information by subscription and notification is one of SIP(session initiation protocol) extension services, and it is used importantly in VoIP(Voice over IP) and Instant Messaging service. In this paper, we propose a new method in which users can combine and control presence service and call processing services in various ways by extending call processing language, and only changed parts of the presence information are published instead of full presence information document. Each user registers full presence information document with his own call processing script during the first publication to a presence server. The presence server executes these call processing scripts, so it can provide various services with combination of presence service and call processing services during the presence subscriptions and notifications. Afterwards, users publish only changed parts of the presence information and the presence server notify only these changed parts to watchers. Therefore the efficiency of the overall system can be improved. The performance of our proposed model is evaluated by experiments.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 50~59
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.050
IP address lookup is one of the most important and complex functions in the router. In this paper, we propose an improved technique of LC-trie to increase the performance of IP address lookup in the high performance router. We effectively apply the prefix pruning method, which is used for the compression of the forwarding table in TCAM((Ternary Content Addressable Memory), to the LC-trie. This technique can decrease the number of memory accesses and upgrade the lookup speed. Moreover, through the real forwarding table and the real traffic distribution, we evaluate the performance of our scheme in terms of the lookup time and the number of memory access, comparing with that of the previous LC-trie.

In a virtual aquarium, the behavior of fish objects is the most important factor in respect of visual effects. In addition to the individual behavior of fish object, the interactions between objects due to their attributes, can improve the dynamics and reality of the virtual world. In this paper, we analyze the principal habits of fish objects such as the vitality, the range of movement, the maximum depth of water they can live, and the cycle of eating. Then, we suggest a method for simulating the stable marine ecosystem with controlling the behaviors, the interaction with other species, the average span of life, and all that sort of thing based on the result of analysis. Because we can freely modify the behavior of fish object by altering the values of attributes, it can be utilized in the dynamic virtual aquarium, the 3D aquarium screen saver, and the virtual fish game, and so on.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.140
In this study, we attempted to develop a watershed runoff index subject to main control points by dividing the Geum River basin into 14 sub-basins. The Yongdam multipurpose dam Daecheong multipurpose dam and Gongju gage station were selected to serve as the main control points of the Geum River basin, and the observed flow of each control point was calculated by the discharge rating curve, whereas the simulated flow was estimated using the Rainfall Runoff Forecasting System (RRFS), user-interfaced software developed by the Korea Water Corporation, based on the Streamflow Synthesis and Reservoir Regulation (SSARR) model developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. This study consisted of the daily unit observed flow and the simulated flow of the accumulated moving average flow by daily, 5-days, 10-days, monthly, quarterly and annually, and normal monthly/annually flow. We also performed flow duration analysis for each of the accumulated moving average and the normal monthly/annually flows by unit period, and abundant flow, ordinary flow, low flow and drought flow estimated by each flow duration analysis were utilized as watershed runoff index by main control points. Further, as we determined the current flow by unit period and the normal monthly/annually flow through the drought and flood flow analysis subject to each flow we were able to develop the watershed runoff index in a system that can be used to determine the abundance and scarcity of the flow at the corresponding point.

Kim, Yong-Suk ; Hong, Soon-Heon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 160~167
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.160
Due to the drastic growth of national economy and the development of overall territory, the shapes of national land and coastal areas are changing from day to day. To detect such changes in lands and coasts efficiently, as well as to establish an appropriate usage plan, it is necessary to secure a monitoring system for coastal areas based on the observation and analysis of the change in coastlines. Currently, looking at the field of producing national coastlines, the lengths of coastlines are inaccurate due to the vague definition of dividing coastline boundaries and insufficient observation data. The level of accuracy and reliability of previous data are also in the very low. This paper used aerial photographs with certain intervals to monitor the change in coastal areas of Songjeong, Haeundae, Kwanganri, Songdo and Dadaepo. The local area subjected for this research was limited to areas near Busan.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 168~175
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.168
The flood caused landslide disaster each year because of climate change. And the change of topography from an earthquake makes topographical analysis impossible. This paper performed an investigation about a utilization methods and generation DEM(Digital Elevation Model) after digital aerial photographs quickly when the topographical change happens. Stereo imagery that was collected through digital aerial photographs made a generation of DEM possible. A standard deviation of generated DEM is 0.864m which is somewhat high but shows the real topography. As a result, it should be possible to generate DEM by using aerial photographs in case of the change of topography.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 3, 2007, Pages 176~186
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.3.176
As SAR data have the strong point that is not influenced by weather or light amount in comparison with optical sensor data, they are highly useful for temporary analysis and can be collected in time of unforeseen circumstances like disaster. This study is to extract DEM from L-band data of JERS-1 SAR imagery using InSAR and DInSAR processing techniques. As a result of analyzing the extracted coherence and interferogram images, it was shown that the DInSAR 3-pass method produces more suitable coherence values than the InSAR method. The accuracies of DEM extracted from the SAR data were evaluated by employing the DEM derived from the digital topographic maps of 1:5000 scale as reference data. And it was ascertained that baselines between antenna locations largely affect the accuracy of extracted DEM.
