Cho, Dong-Ju ; Park, Yang-Jae ; Jung, Kyung-Yong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 6, 2007, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.001
In electronic commerce, it is important for users to recommend the proper item among large item sets with saving time and effort. Therefore, if the recommendation system can be recommended the suitable item, we will gain a good satisfaction to the user. In this paper, we proposed the associative relation clustering split method in the collaborative filtering in order to perform the accuracy and the scalability. We produce the lift between associative items using the ratings data. and then split the node group that consists of the item to improve an efficiency of the associative relation cluster. This method differs the association about the items of groups. If the association of groups is filled, the reminding items combine. To estimate the performance, the suggested method is compared with the K-means and EM in the MovieLens data set.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.009
In this paper, the hybrid methods are suggested, which use the direction angle information to present running trajectory and track the past locations through a small amount of vehicle's location information. In order to prove the effectiveness of the new technique suggested here, vehicle's location information are collected by running the vehicles moving objects under various conditions. Using the location informations and direction angle information collected with time intervals, the vehicl e's location information is abstracted, compared and analyzed. and I have proved that the suggested techniques are more effective by comparing them with others in various methods such as GPS TrackMaker, difference image techniques, consistency comparison, quantity comparison, vehicle's running distances and so on.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.022
Most real word systems such as world economy, stock market, and medical applications, contain a series of dynamic and complex phenomena. One of common methods to understand these systems is to build a model and analyze the behavior of the system. In this paper, we investigated methods for best clustering over time series data. As a first step for clustering, BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) approximation is used to determine the number of clusters. A search technique to improve clustering efficiency is also suggested by analyzing the relationship between data size and BIC values. For clustering, two methods, model-based and similarity based methods, are analyzed and compared. A number of experiments have been performed to check its validity using real data(stock price). BIC approximation measure has been confirmed that it suggests best number of clusters through experiments provided that the number of data is relatively large. It is also confirmed that the model-based clustering produces more reliable clustering than similarity based ones.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.031
Recently, the animation market requires a new consumption form of animation contents that can meet the trend and environment of a new era. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to seek new changes in paradigm by analyzing the animation examples from media to media in order to confirm in which form animation genres are changed in the ers of media convergence. The finding shows that the paradigm changes in animation are essentially caused by the development of internet communication technology, the interactiveness, and the emergence of new media by media characteristics. As a result, the environment of consumption involves the introduction of active marketing centered on personal media and the new insight into the genre of animation, and the industry of animation has a high possibility of developing into a leading industry in the future based on the development of creation technology and on the paradigm of empirical economy and requires the animation education based on new media. This study will find its significance in that it may provide the basis of study in terms of theory and practice of the creation animation research focused on new media.

Seul, Nam-O ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 6, 2007, Pages 44~51
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.044
For real-time recognizing of model objects in remote position a new Neural Networks algorithm is proposed. The proposed neural networks technique is the real time computation methods through the inter-node diffusion. In the networks, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of objects, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed. 1-D LIPN hardware has been composed and various experiments with static and dynamic signals have been implemented.

Ha, Jong-Sung ; Yoo, Kwan-Hee ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 6, 2007, Pages 52~59
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.052
This paper presents a greedy method for user-steered mesh segmentation, which is based on the merging priority metric defined for representing the geometric properties of meaningful parts. The priority metric is a weighted function composed of five geometric parameters: distribution of Gaussian map, boundary path concavity, boundary path length, cardinality, and segmentation resolution. This scheme can be extended without any modification only by defining more geometric parameters and adding them. Our experimental results show that the shapes of segmented parts can be controlled by setting up the weight values of geometric parameters.

In recent years, embedded mobile systems have been expanding their application domains from embedded portable devices which only execute a specialized application such as MP3 player or digital camcoder to digital convergence devices which execute more complicated applications converged various functionalities such as video and audio play, digital dictionary, DMB, games, phone, etc. As it requires the increasing hardware performance such as more faster CPU and more larger RAM, display, disk size, it has brought about a corresponding increase in power consumption. However, coupled with relatively small gains in battery capacity over recent years, the importance of software architecture including intelligent power management has become paramount. In this paper, we have ported UbiFOSTM with energy saving techniques on the ARM9-based MBA2440 platform. For energy savings, we adapted the dynamic power management and the device power management schemes based on monitoring workload. Experimental results with some well-known applications show that proposed low power technique could save energy up to 24 %.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.079
As the mobile computers such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) or Smart Phone has been widespread in our daily life, the demand of an extensive data input will gradually be increased. Consequently, many alternative soft keyboards have been proposed to satisfy this requirement. However none of them can provide an absolute solutions for that, the segregated guideline for keyboard arrangement and usage still cause much confusion to the user. Therefore, an integrated guideline is seriously required. In order to come up with the integrated guideline for Korean Soft keyboard GUI, the questionnaire and the experimental test compared with five soft keyboards were conducted in this study. As a result this paper presents five guidelines for improving an input speed of soft keyboard on the mobile computing; following familiarity for effective screen use, using a single key rather than grouping key, considering position of prediction word, considering prompt feedback, finally, considering optimized keyboard size.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.089
UCC(User Created Content) is attracted public attention in the era of web2.0 that users create, distribute and consume various kinds of media content through a web platform standing on participation, collaboration and openness. As most discussion about UCC is centered on making benefit using it, it is understood as 'the information commodity' which is appropriated to new media environment. But UCC have to be understood not only as the information commodity but as 'the state of media'. UCC can be classified into two types based on desire for transparency and opaqueness from the media's genealogical point of view which is the logic of 'remediation' that J.Bolter and R.Grusin suggested. In the convergence era that a lot of new media appear, for example IPTV and DMB, this study devise a method of the utilization of UCC from diverse aspects of remediation in the paradigm of convergence.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 6, 2007, Pages 107~118
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.107
This study examined the standard how to deal with infringement of copyright legally, by looking at several examples of the infringement of copyright in local video works. When we look at precedents relating to copyrighted motion pictures, there are many times when two works seem quite similar but don't get conformed to the infringement of copyright by deliberating the similarities feebly. Although the Idea seems same, the creative expression is admitted and the substantial similarity is denied. For example, in the case of the soap opera, 'Kareiski', the court presented a standard of judgment by organizing the facts, based on the subjective element, dependence on proof and the objective element, the substantial similarity In the case of 'Fox and the Cotton Candy', the dependence on proof and the substantial similarity were examined as usual but when examining the substantial similarity, it was examined in more specific details. This case is a good reference for solving such a case in the future.

The 'spatial sense' means an intuitive feel for one's surroundings and the objects in them. The early childhood is an important period to develop the 'spatial sense'. For young children, motion is a major way of extending their spatial awareness. Consequently, an important step in spatial sense instruction involves getting the children moving. This paper proposes four motion based-contents for improving the spatial sense of young children: a bubble game, a cyber goalkeeper game, a mud-huddle game, and a shape recognition game, The proposed four games are implemented to the virtual learning environments. Also, the virtual learning environments utilize the realistic interfaces which can recognize motions of young children and then interact with the games as they do the movement at the virtual environments provided. Using the realistic interfaces not only develops young children's spatial sense but also offers them the pleasure and interest of self-study.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.6.206
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational commitment according to employment types. As a result of this study, firstly, while there is a significant difference in the job itself satisfaction between regular and contingent workers, there is no significant difference in the organizational commitment between regular and contingent workers. Concretely, a job itself satisfaction degree is higher in contingent workers rather than in regular ones, and the level of organizational commitment is no difference between regular and contingent workers. Secondly, there is no moderating effect according to employment types in job satisfaction influencing on organizational commitment. In addition, there is a partially difference in the job satisfaction factor having influence on regular and contingent workers' organizational commitment. That is, it is confirmed that the satisfaction of job itself in regular workers has influence on organizational commitment positively, and the satisfaction of job itself, promotion, and supervisor in contingent workers has influence on organizational commitment positively.
