The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 1~10
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.001
In this paper, we propose an indexing method for efficiently updating current positions of moving objects on road networks. The existing road network models increase update costs when objects move to adjacent road segments because their connectivity is not preserved. We propose an intersection based network model and a new index structure to solve this problem. The proposed intersection based network model preserves network connectivity through splitting road networks to contain intersection nodes always. The proposed index structure In our experiments, we show that our method is about 3 times faster than an existing index structure in terms of update costs.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.011
Applications involving moving objects require index structures to handle frequent updates of objects' locations efficiently. Several methods to index the current, the past and the future positions of moving objects have been proposed for the applications. Most of them are based on R-tree like index structures. Some researches have made efforts to improve update performance of R-trees that are actually focused on query performance. Even though the update performance is improved by researchers' efforts, the overhead and immaturity of concurrency control algorithms of R-trees makes us hesitate to choose them for moving objects. In this paper, we propose an update efficient indexing method that can be applicable for indexing the past, the current and the future locations. The proposed index is based on B+-Trees and Hilbert curve. We present an advanced Hilbert curve that adjusts automatically the order of Hilbert curve in subregions according to the data distribution and the number of data objects. Through empirical studies, we show that our strategy achieves higher response time and throughput.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 24~30
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.024
This paper observed characteristics of a triangular microstrip patch antenna with T-slot. When a narrow horizontal slot or vertical slot is embedded in a triangular microstrip antenna, we investigated variations of dual resonant frequency according to slot lengths and then we could make a triangular microstrip antenna with T-type slot suitable to a very low dielectric substrate. The proposed antennas used a dielectric substrate which has relative dielectric constant
and a height of 8 [mils] (=0.2032mm) and antenna characteristics of horizontal or vertical slot antennas are compared by a ensemble 8.0 simulator. Theoretical and experimental results of manufactured antennas are compared.

The implemented RFID middleware system is to support both a fixed type's reader and portable type's reader. we analyze the middleware function with four application accessing protocol, HTTP, XML, JMS, and SOAP, and demonstrate a filtering speed in terms of CPU utilization.
Dynamic Quantum-Size Pfair Scheduling Considering Task Set Characteristics
Cha, Seong-Duk ; Kim, In-Guk ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 39~49
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.039
Since the PF scheduling algorithm, which is optimal in the hard real-time multiprocessor environments, several scheduling algorithms have been proposed. All these algorithms assume the fixed unit quantum size, and this assumption has problems in the mode change environments. To settle the problem, we already proposed a method for deciding the optimal quantum size. In this paper, we propose improved methods considering the task set whose utilization e is less than or equal to p/3+1. As far as the numbers of computations used to determine the optimal quantum size are concerned, newly proposed methods are proved to be more efficient than our previous ones.
Question Analysis and Expansion based on Semantics
Shin, Seung-Eun ; Park, Hee-Guen ; Seo, Young-Hoon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 50~59
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.050
This paper describes a question analysis and expansion based on semantics for on efficient information retrieval. Results of all information retrieval systems include many non-relevant documents because the index cannot naturally reflect the contents of documents and because queries used in information retrieval systems cannot represent enough information in user's question. To solve this problem, we analyze user's question semantically, determine the answer type, and extract semantic features. And then we expand user's question using them and syntactic structures which are used to represent the answer. Our similarity is to rank documents which include expanded queries in high position. Especially, we found that an efficient document retrieval is possible by a question analysis and expansion based on semantics on natural language questions which are comparatively short but fully expressing the information demand of users.

Hyun, Young-Ju ; Kim, Kyung-Seok ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 60~67
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.060
The spectrum sensing is important for decision of using frequency band. It checks the frequency band for cognitive radio system. In this paper, we apply autocorrelation function to the energy detection method. We use the autocorrelation function to improve the performance of spectrum sensing method based on the energy detection method. This method is different from cyclostationary process method where parameters such as the mean or the autocorrelation function are time-varying periodically. And we propose improved method that is robust in poor radio environment. If the proposed method applies for sensing in the cognitive radio system, it will have the structural simplicity and the fast computation of spectrum sensing.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 96~103
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.096
Reincarnation, literally means "to be made flesh again". It is a mystical belief that the soul lives again in a new body after death. In this study, both material and spiritual elements are reincarnated in the form of the formative art in our life. This is similar to the notion of transmigration of the souls in Buddism and Taoism. Even a work of low merit can be an artifact when we give a new meaning and value through the reincarnation. Reincarnation opens another dimension in the formative art and it can be a new source of energy Andy Warhol, who is a central figure in the pop art movement, seems to have an idea of reincarnation in the base of his work. In Korea, there are many experimental arts in design and advertising which shows reincarnation. In the modem society, the activity and mind of reincarnation have been enhanced through Internet and digital medium and people consider reincarnation as a universal philosophy in the art. Especially, the reincarnation as a continuum of design has many implementations. Now the object will be freely adopted, and transformed and it will open a new age in the formative art. We should be ready to enjoy the arts.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 7, issue 7, 2007, Pages 171~178
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2007.7.7.171
In this paper the Partnership's Influence on the Success of IT-Outsourcing is studied. Especially the role of "Partnership" as Intermediate is mainly researched. As the result we can see the fact that the economic factor does not affect the Partnership and the success of IT-Outsourcing, because the IT-Outsourcing can cause sometimes the increase of the cost. On the other hand strategic factor and technical factor affect directly the Success of IT-Outsourcing. This means that the Success of IT-Outsourcing depends on the close cooperation between customer and service provider, rather than on the following the contents of the Service Level Agreement(SLA). In consequences the Partnership based on the steady and fluent communication and the feeling of sharing the risk and benefit between two parties is the key factor for the Success of IT-Outsourcing.
