DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.001
Thanks to the multimedia technology development, it is possible to show image representations in high quality and to process images in various ways. Anisotropic diffusion as an effective diffusion filtering among many image preprocessing methods and postprocessing methods is used in reduction of speckle noises of ultrasound images, image restoration, edge detection, and image segmentation. However, the conventional anisotropic diffusion based on a cross-kernel causes the following problems. The problem is the concentration of edges in the vertical or horizontal directions. In this paper, a new anisotropic diffusion transform based on directions of gradient is proposed. The proposed method uses the eight directional square-kernel which is an expanded form of the cross-kernel. The proposed method is to select directions of small gradient based on square-kernel. Therefore, the range of proposed diffusion is selected adaptively according to the number of the directions of gradient. Experimental results show that the proposed method can decrease the concentration of edges in the vertical or horizontal directions, remove impulse noise. The image in high quality can be obtained as a result of the proposed method.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.018
An organic light-emitting diode(OLED) has advantages of low power driving, self light-emitting, wide viewing angle, excellent high resolution, full color, high reproduction, fast response speed, simple manufacturing process, or the like. However, there are still a number of challenges to get over in order to put it to practical use as a high performance display. First of all, the most important thing is to improve the efficiency of the OLED element in order to commercialize it. To this end, its efficiency can be improved by lowering the driving voltage through the improvement of structure of the OLED element and the application of new organic substance. Therefore, in this study, we have manufactured a red OLED element by applying fluorescent dyes to the emitting layer of the element having the structure of ITO/TPD/ Znq2+DCJTB /Znq2/Al and the structure of ITO/CuPc/NPB/ Alq3+DCJTB/Alq3/Al, in order to light-emitting various colors or improve the brightness and the efficiency, and then we have evaluated its electrical and optical characteristics.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.025
Access control techniques should be flexible enough to support all protection granularity levels. Since access control policies are very likely to be specified in relation to document types, it is necessary to properly manage a situation in which documents fail to be dealt with by the existing access control policies. In terms of XML documents, it is necessary to describe policies more flexibly beyond simple authorization and to consider access control methods which can be selected. This paper describes and designs the access control policy system for authorization for XML document access and for efficient management to suggest a way to use the capacity of XML itself. The system in this paper is primarily characterized by consideration of who would exercise what access privileges on a specific XML document and by good adjustment of organization-wide demands from a policy manager and a single document writer.

The application of OCR moves from traditional formatted documents to the web document and natural scene images. It is usual that the new applications use not only standard fonts of Myungjo and Godic but also various fonts. The conventional databases which have mainly been constructed with standard fonts have limitations in applying to the new applications. In this paper, we generate 243 image samples for each of 2350 Hangul character classes which differs in font size, quality, and resolution. Additionally each sample was varied according to binarization threshold and rotational transformation. Through this process 2187 samples were generated for each character class. Totally 5,139,450 samples constitutes the printed Hangul character database called the PHD08. In addition, we present the characteristics and recognition performance by an commercial OCR software.

Cho, Jong-Keun ; Ha, Sang-Eun ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 41~48
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.041
This study focuses on the modeling file search engine and suggesting modified file search schema based on weight value using file contents in order to improve the performance in terms of search accuracy and matching time. Most of the file search engines have used string matching algorithms like KMP(Knuth.Morris.Pratt), which may limit portability and fast searching time. However, this kind of algorithms don't find exactly the files what you want. Hence, the file search engine based on weight value using file contents is proposed here in order to optimize the performance for mobile environments. The Comparison with previous research shows that the proposed schema provides better.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 49~56
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.049
Most games based on PCs or consoles at present show vivid special effects and brilliance sceneries. However, the other games running on mobiles and portable devices can not show magnificent scenes because of low hardware specifications such as slow CPU, old graphics card and battery capacity. These games relatively prefer light and casual contents that do not need tremendous calculation. It is very important to keep minimum of game graphics quality in those games. Thus this research presents the new possibility of variable indexed color palettes to overcome the low hardware capacities.
SBR-k(Sized-base replacement-k) : File Replacement in Data Grid Environments
Park, Hong-Jin ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 57~64
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.057
The data grid computing provides geographically distributed storage resources to solve computational problems with large-scale data. Unlike cache replacement policies in virtual memory or web-caching replacement, an optimal file replacement policy for data grids is the one of the important problems by the fact that file size is very large. The traditional file replacement policies such as LRU(Least Recently Used), LCB-K(Least Cost Beneficial based on K), EBR(Economic-based cache replacement), LVCT(Least Value-based on Caching Time) have the problem that they have to predict requests or need additional resources to file replacement. To solve theses problems, this paper propose SBR-k(Sized-based replacement-k) that replaces files based on file size. The proposed policy considers file size to reduce the number of files corresponding to a requested file rather than forecasting the uncertain future for replacement. The results of the simulation show that hit ratio was similar when the cache size was small, but the proposed policy was superior to traditional policies when the cache size was large.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 85~93
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.085
For music score recognition, several approaches have been proposed including shape matching, statistical methods, neural network based methods and structural methods. In this paper, we deal with recognition for low resolution images which are captured by the digital camera of a mobile phone. Considerable distortions are included in these low resolution images, so when existing technology is used, many problems appear. First, captured images are not stable in the sense that they contain lots of distortions or non-uniform illumination changes. Therefore, notes or symbols in the music score are damaged and recognition process gets difficult. This paper presents recognition technology to overcome these problems. First, musical note to head, stick, tail part are separated. Then template matching on head part of musical note, and remainder part is applied. Experimental results show nearly 100% recognition rate for music scores with single musical notes.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.094
The development of digital technology constructs meaning through the narrative by digitalized story. Including mobile whole aspect movie, visual contents have the narrative structure and signification based on the digital technology. This study planned to explore the possibility that mobile movie can expand the classical narrative structure and bring up the method of signification. For this purpose, this paper proved the process to cohere narrative through redundancy and a double across of space-time structure according to the principle of causality in mobile movies such as
. According to the findings, mobile movies appeared to construct a consolidated structure through cohesion of meaning and to move the space-time doubly across at a subjective point of view of the characters for continuity of story. Such a result means the narrative structure and the method of signification of mobile movie are modifying or expanding the unique formation of classical films in accordance with mobile devices as digital media.
Review about the Theatrical Style in Film Dogville
Lieu, Jl-Mi ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 103~114
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.103
The purpose of this study is to find the theatrical style in Dogville, which was the film directed by Las Von Trier. There are a lot of Brecht Epic theatre styles in plot and mise en scĿne in the film. This study try to divide into three parts of them. First of all, the film uses the defined space as a theatrical stage in the one act play. Secondly, there are some apparatuses which was presented as a stagy style in the film. From these apparatuses, the audiences can get the human's life dialectically collided against a sense of alienation. Finally, the film shows up the mime and non-diegetic sound to get an epical stream of Brecht's style. By using these elements to construct all of the film structure, the audiences can establish their one subjecthood against the idealogical empathy.
Postcolonial Study of the Hybridity and Tragedy as Represented in Korean Blockbusters
Seo, In-Sook ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 115~124
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.115
My former thesis was about the present status of Korean film aesthetics of Korean blockbusters through the cultural hybridity. Now this thesis focuses on hybridity and tragedy in Korean blockbusters from the postcolonial perspectives. Typical examples are Shiri, JSA, Taegukgi containing a special Korean situation of division ideology and expressing an extremely Western style of production. These movies hardly provide any historical causes, critical explanation, or vision beyond the discourse of national tragedy. They simply supply sentimental feeling of sympathizing with the misfortune of heroes in the course of national suffering. Therefore, these movies shows limitation not to accomplish postcolonial resistance.

The significance of the image content industry, as a flagship industry of the cultural content industry, is emerging globally as a high value-added trend. Since the movie industry has diverse related industries along with a positive spillover effect from cultural and economic perspectives, it ultimately strengthens national brands as well as national competitiveness. As a national strategy cultural content industry, the movie industry in each country around the world utilizes its own diverse self-protective systems. The Korean movie industry has emerged as a 10 million-strong movie-goer market; however, in reality, it is vulnerable to high film production costs and utility. The current domestic media market demands a new paradigm through the media industry as a whole; nonetheless, it is inherently limited to past film production and distribution channels. In this study, I seek to evaluate the status quo and propose a new direction for the Korea movie industry.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.182
The MLC(multi leaf collimator) in charge of important role in radiation therapy field recently have been exchanging from shielding block into it rapidly, owing to being convenient. However, MLC can be occurred the leakage dose of inter_leaves and the error of algorithm in imput and output from digital signal. We compared the difference of imput method to MLC made by Varian Cop. with the error and effective field induced by MLC shaper and film scanner based on XimaVision value as using MLC layer of various shapes. According to comparing standard value with them to basic MLC layer (test1-5), MLC shaper was
and film scanner was
. At the MLC layer to be applied in clinic, MLC shaper was
and film scanner was
. The more distance and field from axis of central line increase, the more bigger the error value increases. There is a few mm error from standard point at the process which imput various information to apply MLC in clinic. and effective field did not have variation of monitor unit and dose owing to being a few cm2 error against real field. But there are some problem to shield critical organs because some part of target volume induced by the movement of organs can be not included, therefore we have to pay attention on the process to imput MLC layer

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 189~202
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.189
The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the level of awareness and performance of the physical therapists on nosocomial infection and evaluate potential factors as associated with awareness and performance in order to provide fundamental data for the development of program and policy on the prevention of it. The data were collected from 405 physical therapists. The research instrument was self-administered standardized questionnaire including general characteristics, education status, necessity of the education on nosocomial infection, and awareness and performance for prevention of nosocomial infection. Responses were determined as 5-Likert scales and data were summarized as percentage, mean and standard deviation. Data were analysed using independent t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient(
). The results of this study show that most physical therapists have not received education on nosocomial infection. For this reason, they have a low level of the awareness and performance on nosocomial infection, but they strongly recognize the necessity of the program and education for the prevention of nosocomial infection. Thus, these program and education are needed in each college as an academic curriculum, as well as in hospitals.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 203~209
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.203
Nowadays the risk of radiation is getting more serious, so we must know the exact dose that was irradiated, Because very high radiation dose is used in radiation therapy field. We used the ionization chamber which measure the radiation dose in this study. We tried to know the incorrect result from the distortion of geometric structure of ionization chamber and we studied how to find the distortion of geometric structure of ionization chamber. We used a radio fluoroscopy to find the wound degree of electrode of ionization chamber and a reconstructed 3D CT image to analyze the wound degree of electrode quantitatively. we measured degree of distortion by comparing with absorbed dose of normal electrode and wound electrode. The comparative result is not absolute dosimetry at specific point but relative dosimetry between thats. We measured 4 MV, 10MV photon with same absorbed dose and dose rate. The degree of distortion of wound electrode was totally
, and there was no difference between two energies. The variation induced from radiation dose to be irradiated and dose rate, and the degree of distortion from wound direction also was almost similar value. We could find that the geometric structure of ionization chamber that can influence a basic measurement of radiation dose can be changed by old usage and inattention of management in this study, especially winding of electrode can be happened, in radiation therapy field, It is very important to keep precise radiation dose quantitatively.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.210
In this study, image comparisons were carried out using a MRI contrast medium which was derived by mixing a polyaminocarboxylic ligand and a gadolinium (III) transition metal which is paramagnetic and has good neutron absorbing capabilities with Gd-DTPA which is currently being used widely in the clinical setting. By using a 1.0T (Harmony, SIEMENS) MR equipment, phantoms of which 100cc of saline was diluted with a diethylenetriaminetriacetic acid derivative and Gd-DTPA were imaged. The amount of diethylenetriaminetriacetic acid and Gd-DTPA which was diluted into the 100cc of saline was 0.05mmol/L, 0.1mmol/L, 0.15mmol/L, 0.2mmol/L, 0.3mmol/L, 0.5mmol/L, 1.0mmol/L, 2.0mmol/L, 3.0mmol/L and 4.9mmol/L respectively. Head coils were used and while fixing the SE pulse sequence and image variable (as TE is 14ms, 1NEX with a 256x201 matrix), the signal intensity and simple contrast ratios according to changing concentrations and TR were compared with various TR at 300ms, 400ms, 500ms, 600ms, 700ms, 800ms, 900ms, 1000ms, 1200ms, 1400ms and 1600ms. According to the comparison results of the signal intensity of the image based on changes in contrast medium concentrations and TR, the differences in signal intensity between the two contrast mediums were found to be small at
when the highest signal intensity was achieved. However, at concentrations of 1.0mmol/L or less, the signal intensity was markedly higher in the Diethylenetriaminetriacetic acid derivative than in the Gd-DTPA complex. It was also found that the differences in the signal intensities demonstrated by the concentrations of the contrast mediums were affected by the TR. Accordingly, the efficacy of the Diethylenetriaminetriacetic acid derivative was shown to be better than the Gd-DTPA and also possible to get the optimum image quality by the use of an appropriate TR with appropriate concentrations of contrast medium.

Is trend that treatment that use isotope of radioactive substance increases from 1964 to now steadily. Bursting tube state solidified accordingly. But, do not establish treatment ward in presence at a sickbed by means that present regulation and system escape this as well as possession that exert negative impact in treatment action preferably is and is treating by radioactivity of small quantity, treatment air by that do not detain many sickers without equaling the institution although there is treatment ward keeps fair death anniversary and is in reservation stand-by status. To possess about 10 therapy rooms including existing sickroom in the institute of nuclear energy recently is looked but is waiting for an opportunity for treatment during suitableness time yet indeed even as that operate 57 radiation isotope therapy rooms all in about 28 hospitals in present domestic state is solveded. Therefore, radiation safety supervision by medical treatment action that treat as radioactive substance may need more active effort. Make mandatory to equipment that hospital which correspond to present the third medical examination and treatment must equip, or effort about more active system improvement may have to be about equipment that enforce this.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 235~241
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.235
If the target volume cannot be included with one field at head and neck cancer, we commonly used two or more field. It is very important to irradiate uniform dose at junction area of the fields. However, according to body shape of patient or general condition of patient, skin junction area can be matched incorrect, So overdose area or underdose area can be appeared in the junction area. This study researched therapy technique which can give uniform dose at skin junction owing to applying the edge block of lateral field at head and neck cancer. We measured the changed distance and rotational angle between central line of anterior supraclavicle lymph node and low margin of right lateral field on simulation process using the shielding block of variable rotation. As a result, the changed distance between central line of anterior supraclavicle lymph node and low margin of right lateral field was below 2mm to
10cm distance at central line of Y axis, changed angle was average 1.28 degree. But by using it the shielding block of variable rotation, the incorrect match at junction can be minimized. We think that this technique is very efficient one to apply this technique at head and neck cancered by the movement of organs can be not included, Therefore we have to pay attention on the process to imput MLC layer

In this study we investigated the effects of physical therapeutic intervention through electromyography, ultrasonographic imaging and changes of the IL-
, IGF-1 and IGF-2 in skeletal muscle of rats injured experimentally. The twenty Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into the 4 groups: a normal, a control, a low power laser and a neuromuscular electrical stimulation group. Abnormal spontaneous activities had not been shown, both in normal and skeletal muscle injured rats. The maximum diameter of the calf muscle was significantly increased in the low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation groups compared with control group. The level of the serum IL-
was more decreased in the low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation groups than that of control group. The activation level of the IGF-1 and the IGF-2 were significantly higher in the control, low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation groups than that of normal group. However, there was no statistically significant difference among the control, low power laser and neuromuscular electrical stimulation groups.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 11, 2008, Pages 395~403
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.11.395
In this paper, we present the analysis of the fact that normalization and types of citation fields have an effect to the citation matching. Citation matching indicates the series of grouping process for the citation records referring to the same paper. The citation matching combines the comparison results of citation fields, and determines which citation records are the same. For the citation field comparison in the citation matching phase, studies on the normalization and types of citation fields are needed. But they are relatively insufficient when compared with the studies on citation matching methods. In this research, we showed that the citation matching performance was affected by the normalization and types of citation fields. Additionally, we also analyzed the combination of normalized multiple fields. According to the experimental result, the citation field had the overall performance improvement through a normalization, and the performance mode differently showed up at the citation field type.

One of the important elements for improving academic achievement of learners in education through e-learning is to support learners to study by finding questions they want with providing various evaluation questions. However, most of question retrieval systems usually depend on keyword search based on only a syntactical analysis and/or a hierarchical browsing system classified by the topics of subjects. In such a system it is not easy to find integrative questions associated with each other. In order to improve this problem, in this paper we proposed a question management and retrieval system which allows users to easily manage questions and also to effectively find questions for study on the Web. Then, we implemented a system that gives to access questions for the domain of C language programming. The system makes it possible to easily search questions related to not only a single theme but also questions integrated by interrelationship between topics and questions. This is done by supporting to be able to retrieve questions according to conceptual interrelationships between questions from user query. Consequently, it is expected that the proposed system will provide learners to understand the basic theories and the concepts of the subjects as well as to improve the ability of comprehensive knowledge utilization and problem-solving.
