Fuzzy Cognitive Map, one of ways to model, describe and infer reasoning relations, is widely used in the field of reasoning knowledge engineering. Despite of the natural and easy understanding of decision and smooth explanation of relation between front and rear, reasoning relation is organized with mathematical haziness and complex algorithm and rarely has an interactive user interface. This paper suggests an interactive Fuzzy Cognitive Map(FCM) construction support system. It builds a FCM increasingly concerning multiple experts` knowledge. Futhermore, it supports user-supportive environment by dynamically displaying the structure of Fuzzy Cognitive Map which is constructed by the interaction between experts and the system.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.010
In this paper, we propose an automated silhouette extraction method that can effectively extract inner-patterns and silhouettes from 3D scan data of cultural asset. First of all, after creating the edge list of 3D vector data, we decide contour edge and crease edge according to viewpoint. In the next step, after extracting surface silhouette by investigating the vector variation of adjacent faces in crease edge, we finally extract the contour silhouette and surface silhouette for generating the blueprint of cultural asset. To evaluate the performance of the proposed silhouette extraction method, we performed experiments of silhouette extraction using a traditional tile model, a car model and a stone monument model. Comparing with the conventional threshold-based silhouette extraction method, the proposed method extracted more distinct and clear surface silhouettes and inner-patterns by effectively removing meaningless edges, such as noise.

Hospitals today use independent systems for each department and job such as Hospital Information Sytem(HIS), Picture Archiving Communications System(PACS), Ordering Communication System(OCS), Electronic Medical Record(EMR), Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP), etc and each system employs its own DB. So, it is impossible to integrate information within the institution and difficult to keep transparency and consistency of data. I in this study offered a data integration environment through flexible management linked with other systems, and by doing that, designed a medical CRM frame which offers the optimum service the customer wants at the optimum time. I designed 4 of medical CRM frame: customer relationship management, public relations/marketing, service management, and statistics/analysis by the customer relationship management process standardization and aimed to offer tailored mobile contents according to customer`s characters and health situation on the basis of customer`s data by securing mobile medical contents for personalized medical information service.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.037
Data entered into RFID tags are used for saving costs and enhancing competitiveness in the development of applications in various industrial areas. RFID readers perform the identification and search of hundreds of objects, which are tags. RFID technology that identifies objects on request of dynamic linking and tracking is composed of application components supporting information infrastructure. Despite their many advantages, existing applications, which do not consider elements related to real.time data communication among remote RFID devices, cannot support connections among heterogeneous devices effectively. As different network devices are installed in applications separately and go through different query analysis processes, there happen the delays of monitoring or errors in data conversion. The present study implements a RFID database handling system in semantic Web environment for integrated management of information extracted from RFID tags regardless of application. Users’ RFID tags are identified by a RFID reader mounted on an application, and the data are sent to the RFID database processing system, and then the process converts the information into a semantic Web language. Data transmitted on the standardized semantic Web base are translated by a smart browser and displayed on the screen. The use of a semantic Web language enables reasoning on meaningful relations and this, in turn, makes it easy to expand the functions by adding modules.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.045
The Object Directory Service(ODS) of the mobile RFID is the core technology of the object information service for the object information retrieval among objects with RFID tags. The ODS service returns an URL information of a specific object application service after recognizing the mRFID tag in real time. The general ODS service is suitable for the global mRFID environment, but it is not good in the local networks and private networks that information security is needed. This paper proposes a new ODS service algorithm for the improvement of the general ODS service algorithm.
Design of an Leader Election Protocol in Mobile Ad Hoc Distributed Systems
Park, Sung-Hoon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 53~62
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.053
The Election paradigm can be used as a building block in many practical problems such as group communication, atomic commit and replicated data management where a protocol coordinator might be useful. The problem has been widely studied in the research community since one reason for this wide interest is that many distributed protocols need an election protocol. However, despite its usefulness, to our knowledge there is no work that has been devoted to this problem in a mobile ad hoc computing environment. Mobile ad hoc systems are more prone to failures than conventional distributed systems. Solving election in such an environment requires from a set of mobile nodes to choose a unique node as a leader based on its priority despite failures or disconnections of mobile nodes. In this paper, we describe a solution to the election problem from mobile ad hoc computing systems. This solution is based on the Group Membership Detection algorithm.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.072
The movie and game are on the center of entertainment industry. The OSMU(One Source Multi Use) method of two media is the most conspicuous in sharing stories. Particularly, the storytelling of a game emphasizes a harmonization between the elements that can be used for a game on narrative point of view(the traditional plot like novel, film and etc.) and the elements reflecting the interactivity, the characteristic of a game. In the gaming made with a film and filming made with a game, the main element of successful storytelling is the story value. In this paper, we describe through the case analysis of the gaming made with a film and filing made with a game in three aspects based on hero`s journey steps of Joseph Campbell and
actant model theory, which they are the story event, the type and relation of characters, and the complication type between the characters. we, consequently, believe that the compatible storytelling between two media (film and game) and the setting way of characters could be made with the successful diversification in OSMU.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.091
What if the memory is not erased but continues to exist in the head as it was before? The typical answer to this question would be summarized as the "love for memory". It is almost unbearable that the memory is erased, forgotten or replaced with others. Even though three episodes may be understood as separate things, they have a different image when they are seen under one subject
. he three episodes impresses the people with their unique fantastic images and artistic air. In the episode of
, we can see a woman who is so much concerned with her past memory so that she does not love the present. In this episode, we can realize how much destructive the bad past memory gives effect on a woman and how memory can give bad effect on a person if that does not connect the past and the present. The work
criticizes the society whichdoes not understand the current problems by depicting a person who is so preoccupied with the thing near that person only.
shows that the dream is meaningless if people have the future dream without understanding what they really want. Theaudience is absorbed to each hero or heroin who is so obsessed with the past, present and future. What we can feel from these three works is the doubt about the human society which is so much preoccupied with the pessimism and the individuals who do not recognize the importance of the present because they are so much obsessed with their superficial past, present and future as well as the society where they live.

It has been a major agenda in criticism that there have been a dominant tendency of male-centered narratives in Korean mainstream films after
. These kinds of narratives could be accept as a result of searching process in virtual realm for understanding the social changes. I suggest
very familiar concept `quotidienne`, which influences the conditions to constitute male-identity as a fundamental base of male-centered narratives, to analyze
. It seems meaningful these texts tried to reconstitute male-identity through distinguish potential energy of `quotidienne` from repressive everyday-life. The result of analysis has lied two ambivalent dimensions, nevertheless, it would be required further studies to argue on male-centered narratives and discourses of male-identity as which results could represent interactions between various social contradictions.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 160~167
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.160
Animations consist of the created artificial images. To interpret of the meaning from analyzing the style of main images is an important element in understanding of animations. Therefore, to analyze images expressed in works of Miyazaki-hayao, this study substitutes the concept of `hybridity` for images of characters, backgrounds, and mechanics created by him and explores how they are expressed, how they produce symbolic meanings and functions. It is confirmed that main images in selected works as a scope of research have hybridity of images between `past, present, and future`, `eastern elements and western elements`, `real and virtual`, `human beings and animal` in narrative. From these results, it is concluded that because of hybridity between images, he can present fresh pleasures to spectators, simultaneously communicate thoughtful messages above mere enjoyment, which is a differentiable point with works of other directors.
Strategic Planning for Initiating Local Cultural Festivals
Ahn, Seong-Hye ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 168~175
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.168
As the travel industry grows and becomes increasingly more competitive, municipal governments have undertaken great efforts to maximize limited resources and develop their local economies by initiating and developing cultural festivals. Such festivals and events have become an efficient mechanism to enhance their image, increase tourism, and ultimately, stimulate their economy. However, marketing efforts to scale globally typically falter due to various factors: lack of originality, poor quality of contents, and a scarcity of competitive power. Hence, I wish to propose a model for developing cultural semiology and visual literacy, with storytelling utilized as a means of strategically illustrating local cultural festival contents. Subsequently, it is expected that such a model can underpin the importance of developing coherent edutainment content while illustrating the true meaning/value of local festivals.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 190~197
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.190
Weaving design which is to be designed based on the machine words threading and treading is characterized by its strong limitation of expression. The concept of design has been set based on the patterns on the wooden rice-cake mold which arechosen from many Korean traditional patterns since the expressions of patterns limited by the wooden rice-cake mold is easy to be grafted upon each other. Particularly, literal patterns and geometrical patterns contain religious desire and wishes that are generated from man`s fear and wonder about Nature rather than from the pursuit of beauty which is general characteristics of patterns. Based on these images, the twill technique, especially threading of Sally Nielson`s rosepath which is easy in formal expressions is used to design Korean style patterns into the weaving structure. It is hoped that this study will provide an opportunity to introduce Korean style patterns to the weavers of the world and that the weaving designs will actively be utilized in the Korean industries so that they can acquire high value-added assets and commercialize our superior culture, thus being of great help to developing our cultural industr.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.207
For decades, we have filled our theme parks, shopping malls, a streets and etc. with complementary or competing medias. These spaces have remedied newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and film or have been the object for remediation. Because there has been no remediation in traditional theatrical stage design, many problems come along with the design, which makes audiences hard to feel the sense of presence. It`s time to have systematic research to find a way out for the solution of traditional theatrical stage design. This study suggests the solutions for remediation of traditional theatrical stage design, so we are going to research with laying emphasis on the cooperative works between the fields of theatrical stage design and the Visual Effects par that forms extensive and diverse portions. The proposal for remediation of traditional theatrical stage design with practical use of Visual Effects will create economical higher value-added through the systematization of close and cooperative work between the fields of Visual Effects and theatrical stage design. In addition, the systematization of the cooperation of these two parts will make another communicative paradigm that audiences have never been able to experience before in traditional theatrical stage design.

Terrestrial magnetism has left traces through residues such as fossils of the terrestrial magnetism as time went by. An analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism is an estimation of dates of archaeological remains where baked earth is exposed by measuring the change of the past terrestrial magnetism through thermo-remnant magnetization of baked earth. This paper attempts to apply an analysis of the archaeological terrestrial magnetism to archaeological remains using fourteen soil samples extracted from a charcoal kiln with side window located at the Area Ⅰ of Maegokdong. The date of A.D.440
15 the analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism came up with gives solid evidence, while an archeological chronicle used arrangements of surrounding artifacts because of the absence of remains and assumed uncertainly that a charcoal kiln with side window was from the three kingdom periods. This analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism has come to anchor as a main natural scientific analysis because it relatively easily removes pollutants and comes up with highly reliable results owing to its considerably narrow error tolerance of assumed dates.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 256~263
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.256
Based on the analysis of criminal investigators` recognition of judicial autopsy, this study presented policy alternatives as follows. First, a procedure is needed that optometrists and investigators jointly make previous explanations to bereaved families the status of investigation and the results of examination to their satisfaction and collect their opinions, for the purpose of obtaining an agreement to autopsy from them. Second, the dignity of the dead should be kept. To this end, particular consideration should be given to women bodies. Also, we need to minimize the number of autopsy witnesses and obtain agreement from bereaved families when there is an on-the-spot study. Third, we need to establish a guideline that investigators could request a warrant later in certain cases of dead bodies. Also, if a bereaved family positively asks for autopsy, it should be allowed through tentatively named ‘Request for Autopsy.’ Finally, To make a careful decision on whether an autopsy should be made or not, we can form a joint investigation team of public prosecutors and criminal investigators; however, an autopsy should be done only if it is deemed inevitable, considering the bereaved family`s opinion.

We survey recognition of nutrition labeling on the processed foods for the college students with distinction of sex and their major. The frequency of purchase that processed food is over the 3-5 times in a week. The man students preferred to have Ramyon, milk and milk products and the woman students` ingested snacks, soft drinks and sugar snacks. For another, the food major students like to have juice, soft drink, milk and milk products. Then again, the non-food major students ingested Ramyon, snacks and sugar snacks. The woman students and food major students show higher recognition of nutrition labeling and confirmation of it. The man student replied reason why to confirm nutrition labeling is to keep their health. But the woman students show interest to confirm nutrition content. The food major students confirm the nutrition labeling to determine the nutrition labels. The non-food major students did not confirm the nutrition labeling because they think it is an involved style. For knowledge of nutrition contents, the woman student and the student majoring food are well informed. But, all of the student show poor knowledge for staple foods, nutrient function and vitamin. As the research results, we suggest that the educated the student nutrition knowledge for nutrition labeling on the products. It helps to improve their dietary life and eating habits. And they can avoid buying of the processed foods by habit without confirmation of the nutrition.

The molecular docking system needs a large amount of computation and requires super-computing power. Since the experiment requires a large amount of time, the experiment is conducted in the distributed environment or in the grid environment. Recently, researches on using parallel GPU of far higher performance than that of CPU in scientific computing have been very actively conducted. CUDA is an open technique by which a parallel GPU programming is made possible. This study proposes the molecular docking system using CUDA. It also proposes algorithm that parallels energy-minimizing-computation. To verify such experiments, this study conducted a comparative analysis on the time required for experimenting molecular docking in general CPU and the time and performance of the parallel GPU-based molecular docking which is proposed in this study.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.449
The purpose of this study was to study the student cognition toward the subject of physical education and toward the method of teaching in the class. For the statistical measurement, the population has been chosen as the fifth and sixth grade 319 students(160 male; 159 female) from four different elementary schools in Seoul, Korea. In terms of the teaching method and management of students, the results show that they agree with controlled participation in class and appreciate teachers ability such as explanation, skill demonstration, knowledge, evaluation, maintaining order and participating class. However, there were no statistical difference male and female except for teacher`s explanation. This study clearly indicates that the students want more affirmative and cooperative class environment and they expect to be evaluated not only by skill itself, but also by class participation and activity in their physical education class. The cognition and preference toward the class between male and female students did not show any difference in this study. After all, Teachers need to have more understanding, more compassion and more sensitivity towards their elementary students for interesting, effective and affirmative class.

This study is to design, develope, and deploy of e-learning inquiry based content in elementary science class. First, this study analyzed related literature review, case studies, and inquiry based class models for seeking better applicable design and development modes. From focus group meeting, experts discussed the inquiry content design ideas for elementary students for science class. This study finally established its own inquiry design mode for online science class with the flow of understanding of problem, sep up hypothesis, problem solving, and solution analysis. The developed content was deployed in real classroom setting to see how students received the contents and how well they processed the learning activities. We found that inquiry based online content, especially when applied to science subject, can be effective in students interests and their motivations. We also observed that there were a few managerial errors such as detailed lesson guidance and tutor support for students activities. This study concluded that inquiry based online contents should be designed considering students interests based on learning subjects and also developed in terms of students interests and strong motivation as well. We suggest that related research should be expanded toward to other subject than science and various students age groups.

Moon, Chang-Bae ; Kim, Han-Il ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 12, 2008, Pages 465~472
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.12.465
Diverse methods of life guidance adopted by the teacher`s subjective standards including corporal punishment have inherent problems. Some schools have introduced and exercised the merit and demerit system, which uses merits and demerits to guide the children for desirable life habits and etiquette. And most of them are done off-line and thus have difficulties with real time reference, statistical process, filling out logs, and management. The merit and demerit management system(MDMS) was developed to support the process, statistics, reference, and authority features as well as card issuing. It also promotes life guidance, personality education, participation of the parents, and further desirable cooperation among the teachers, students, and parents. The system has lots of advantages such as reducing resistance from the students against life guidance rules, enabling the students to check their life guidance status at school, allowing the parents to check how their children are doing at school, increasing efficiency of data management, and taking some burden off the shoulders of the teachers doing statistics. MDMS helps the teachers base corporal punishment on the guidance rules, deter direct punishment on certain body parts, and pursue more systematic, scientific, and human life guidance.
