Discovery of Preference through Learning Profile for Content-based Filtering
Chung, Kyung-Yong ; Jo, Sun-Moon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 2, 2008, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.001
The information system in which users can utilize to control and to get the filtered information efficiently has appeared. Content-based filtering can reflect content information, and it provides recommendation by comparing the feature information about item and the profile of preference. This has the shortcoming of the varying accuracy of prediction depending on teaming method. This paper suggests the discovery of preference through learning the profile for the content-based filtering. This study improves the accuracy of recommendation through learning the profile according to granting the preference of 6 levels to estimated value in order to solve the problem. Finally, to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, this study applies to MovieLens dataset, and it is compared with the performance of previous studies.

Kim, Sung-Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 2, 2008, Pages 18~26
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.018
This paper presents a phased visualization method of facial expression space that enables the user to control facial expression of 3D avatars by select a sequence of facial frames from the facial expression space. Our system based on this method creates the 2D facial expression space from approximately 2400 facial expression frames, which is the set of neutral expression and 11 motions. The facial expression control of 3D avatars is carried out in realtime when users navigate through facial expression space. But because facial expression space can phased expression control from radical expressions to detail expressions. So this system need phased visualization method. To phased visualization the facial expression space, this paper use fuzzy clustering. In the beginning, the system creates 11 clusters from the space of 2400 facial expressions. Every time the level of phase increases, the system doubles the number of clusters. At this time, the positions of cluster center and expression of the expression space were not equal. So, we fix the shortest expression from cluster center for cluster center. We let users use the system to control phased facial expression of 3D avatar, and evaluate the system based on the results.

In various manners, string pattern matching algorithm has been proven for prominence in speed of searching particular queries and keywords. Whereas, the existing algorithms are limited in terms of various pattern. In this paper, regular expression has been utilized to improve efficiency of pattern matching through efficient execution towards various pattern of queries including particular keywords. Such as this research would enable to search various harmful string pattern more efficiently, rather than matching simple keywords, which also implies excellent speed of string pattern matching compared to that of those existing algorism. In this research, the proposed string search engine generated from the LEX are more efficient than BM & AC algorithm for a string patterns search speed in cases of 1000 with more than patterns, but we have got similar results for the keywords pattern matching.

There exists a many-to-many mapping relationship between persons and their names. A person may have multiple names, and different persons may share the same name. These synonymous and homonymous names may severely deteriorate the recall and precision of the person search, respectively. This study addresses the characteristics of features for resolving homonymous author names appearing in citation data. As disambiguation features, previous works have employed citation-internal features such as co-authorship, titles of articles, titles of publications as well as citation-external features such as emails, affiliations, Web evidences. To the best of our knowledge, however, there has been no literature to deal with the influences of features on author disambiguation. This study analyzes the effect of individual features on author resolution using a large-scale test set for Korean.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.057
Most concurrency control protocols have been devised for resolving data conflicts among real-time transactions of a single type. Recent real-time database systems should support various types of real-time transactions due to needs of many different types of applications and steady improvement of hardware. In this paper, we propose integrated concurrency control protocol to resolve data conflicts among hard and soft real-time transactions. Our proposed protocol, based on PCP(Priority Ceiling Protocol) for a hard real-time transactions and MVPR(Multiversion with Precedence Relationship), guarantees that hard real-time transactions meet their deadline, and decreases the deadline miss ratio of soft real-time transactions. We also proved that the proposed protocol guarantees serializable schedules and no deadlocks. The performance of the proposed protocol has been compared with other real-time concurrency protocols.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.067
Recently, due to the rapid advances of mobile communication, multimedia service can be provided by mobile devices. Cellular network tends to uses SIP as a call setup protocol in order to provide various multimedia service to consumers. Cellular network holds the characteristic of higher BER(Bit Error Rate), narrower bandwidth than the wired network. The value of SIP RTI(Retransmission Time interval) based on the wired network decreases a network efficiency and increases a call setup delay over cellular network. By using NS-2 simulator, we show new SIP RTI value adequate over cellular network. We design and implement home network by using the modified SIP that is suitable for cellular network.

Kim, Young-Ju ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 2, 2008, Pages 74~82
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.074
This paper investigates chrominance reconstruction methods that reconstruct subsampled chrominance information efficiently using the correlation between luminance and chrominance components in the decompression process of compressed images, and analyzes drawbacks involved in the adaptive-weighted 2-dimensional linear interpolation among the methods, which shows higher efficiency in the view of computational complexity than other methods. To improve the drawback that the spatial frequency distribution is not considered for the decompressed image and to support the application on a low-performance system in behalf of 2-dimensional linear interpolation, this paper proposes the multi-mode reconstruction method which uses three reconstruction methods having different computational complexity from each other according to the degree of edge response of luminance component. The performance evaluation on a development platform for embedded systems showed that the proposed reconstruction method supports the similar level of image quality for decompressed images while reducing the overall computation time for chrominance reconstruction in comparison with the 2-dimensional linear interpolation.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.140
With the advent of local autonomy, local governments are seeking balanced regional development through the decentralization of the central government's authority. In line with this trend, each province has begun to recognize the significance of local identity as a means to promote regional development, and this recognition contributed to developing various brands using local resources. However, a number of these brands are similar to one another because they were developed without thoroughly analyzing and strategically differentiating local identities from one another. Thus, this study aims to propose local characteristics and consumer consciousness that need to be considered in local speciality brand development through practical marine product brand development cases representing Yeosu's local characteristics. This study intends to contribute to setting an effective direction of marine product branding by applying local color to brand development strategies and brand identity elements and by suggesting post-management and promotion plans of local brand positioning.

Considering the existing corporate culture, it's hard to compatible with work for the women and family and it brings a loss of human resources to government and corporate. But if the corporate realized the social responsibility for the childcare as one of the family-friendly culture, and had an aggressive will, it will be possible to break the way of traditional childcare, raise the competitiveness by expanding the work childcare facilities and laid a foundation for the social contribution. Thus, this study expressed the division of labor by gender culture should be changed to family-based women-friendly culture in the home and the corporate. And also this paper provides that, in the view of the corporate has to fully realize the social responsibility, the government properly supports the corporate which has family-friendly culture and through it, with pursuit of profit the corporate can ensure the social justice from social contribution.
The Effect of Corporate Strategy and IT Role on the Intent for IT Outsourcing Decision
Cho, Dong-Hwan ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 2, 2008, Pages 182~194
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.2.182
Corporate managers look at IT outsourcing as long-term strategic choices not as short-term tactical ones, and maximizing the effect that IT outsourcing brings about is the main concern to them. Emerging different types of IT outsourcing and their effects on the corporate business decisions necessitate the research on this subject. According to previous researches, the Intent for IT outsourcing is categorized as IS Improvement, Business Impact, and Commercial Exploitation. The decison factors for these IT outsourcing include corporate strategy types, IT role, and interaction between these two. Firm size and IT maturity are selected as moderating factors to add the credibility to the research of the effect of IT outsourcing decision making. Analyzing collected data revealed that corporate strategy rather than IT role is more significant factor affecting the intent for IT outsourcing decision. Defenders(as in corporate strategy types) tend to use IT outsourcing more as a means to improve information systems, compared to analyzers and reactors. Prospectors tend to use IT outsourcing more as a commercial exploitation, compared to analyzers and reactors. These outcomes prove that corporate strategy characteristics reflect outsourcing intent. There were previous researches that showed outsourcing decision depends on IT role, however the hypothesis was rejected that IT role determines outsourcing intent. It was also rejected that the interaction between corporate strategy types and IT role determines outsourcing intent. Corporate decision makers should first analyze corporate strategy, and reflect it on the outsourcing intent when they make IT outsourcing decisions. Only the precise defining of IT outsourcing intent will lower the risk and increase the possibility of success.

With the growth of airline management, as well as computer and IT security, the international trade in this modern society has been rapidly increasing, Along with the advancing, airplanes have become a universal means of communication. However, the complications associated with airplane safety have also been brought up as a result, the most concerning of which is terrorism. One of the main counterplans for preventing terrorism is Ground security activities the core of Ground security activities is absolute safety for passengers in both passenger terminal and freight terminal. Subastral security refers to physical protection, proximity control and 100% security search and freight guarding of the passengers' possessions, and the personnel's duties to perform such jobs are be! coming more crucial. On the other hand, Airport security check has bee n gradually developing since the 1960's, when hijacking began to take place. Although the airports have been providing more safe and comfortable services to their customers, terrorism is still happening today. When Ground security activities is minute, the users feel displeasure and discomfort, yet considering solely their convenience can brings problems in achieving safety. Since the 9.11 terror in 2001, the idea of improving and strengthening airport security was reinforced and a considerable amount of estate is being spent today for invention and application of new technology. Various nations, including the United States, have been improving their systems of security through public services; public police department is actively carrying out their duties in airports as well. In San Francisco International Airport, private police department is in charge of collection of data, national events, VIP protection, law enforcement, cooperation within facilities, daily-based patrol and traffic control. Under guidance and supervision of national organizations, such as TSA, general police department interprets X-Rays, operates metal detectors, checks passports or IDs and observes reactions to explosives. Under these circumstances, studies about advancement of cooperation and duties of general police department and private police department necessitated: especially about private police department and their training for searching equipments, decrease in number of turn over rate, invention of technology and prior settlement in estate for security. The privacy of the public, who make up the major population of airport passengers, must also be minimized. In the following research, the activities of police departments in San Francisco International Airport will be analyzed in order to understand recent actions of the United States on airport security.

Needle phobia of medical devices is a significant problem in children patients. We conducted study in 130 pediatric patients aged
(mean age 10.5) who had venipuncture performed in a computed tomography. This review aims to explore the research available relating to three commonly used pain rating scales of children, the visual analogue scale(VAS), numeric pain rating scale(NPRS) and Wong-Baker faces pain scale(WBFPS) with scores. Its validity is supported by a strong positive correlation with the three-pain rating scales(correlations ranging from 0.70 to 0.92) measure in children. There were no significant differences between the means on the VAS and either of the pain rating scales. It has the advantage of being suitable for use with the most widely used metric for scoring(
), and conforms closely to a linear interval scale. These scales presented moderate to good correlation and moderate agreement, sufficient for valid use in children. All three pain-rating scales are valid, reliable and appropriate for use in intravenous catheter placement.
