DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.3.001
Due to the development of ubiquitous computing, a wide variety of information is being produced and distributed rapidly in digital form. In this excess of information, it is not easy for users to search and find their desired information in short time. In this paper, we propose the personalized item recommendation using the image based filtering. This research uses the image based filtering which is extracting the feature from the image data that a user is interested in, in order to improve the superficial problem of content analysis. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method and it is compared with the performance of previous studies of the content based filtering and the collaborative filtering in the MovieLens dataset. And the results have shown that the proposed method significantly outperforms the previous methods.

Kang, Seon-Do ; Yoo, Hun-Woo ; Shin, Young-Geun ; Jang, Dong-Sik ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 3, 2008, Pages 8~17
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.3.008
A new algorithm for automatic extraction of interesting objects is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm can be summarized in two steps. First, segmentation of color image that split interesting objects and backgrounds is performed. According to the research stating, 'Humans perceive things by contracting color into three to four essential colors,' a color image is segmented into three regions utilizing k-mean algorithm, followed by annexing the regions when the similarities of them exceeds the critical value based on the calculation of degrees in the histogram similarity, Second, identifying the interesting objects out of the segmented image, partitioned by the image composition theory, is performed. To have a good picture, it is important to adjust positions of interesting objects according to picture composition. Extracting objects is a retro-deduction process using a weighted mask designed upon the triangular composition of picture. To prove the quality of the proposed method, experiments are performed over four hundreds images as well as comparison with recently proposed KMCC and GBIS methods.

Many methods have been developed to overcome the PAPR(peak-to-average power ratio) problem. Selective mapping(SLM), partial transmit sequence(PTS), subblock phase weighting(SPW) and gradient descent(GD) are used widely to reduce the PAPR. In this paper, we present an effective PAPR reduction method that decreases the number of calculations through Radix-2 DIF IFFT procedure and GD method that transmits selected data sequence. The data sequence is constructed by choosing elements that satisfy threshold value as one part of the sequence and the rest elements of each sequence are chosen to have the lower papr operating, which yields performance improvement.

Lacan's Identification theory has been applied to various cultural genres such as literature, film, media so on. Especially, Identification theory in Film Theory gives game researchers who try to apply identification theory to the game, a concrete base. This paper aims to explain the gamer's action through identification theory. Thus, we divide identification into the level of the gamer's point of view and that of the character in game text. While point-on-view of identification, the primary identification, in film has been explained that the audience identifies with camera's point-of view, in game one identifies with various point-of-views. There are two aspects of Identification of characters in game. First, gamers identify themselves with moving images on screen. Second, They identify with the roles given to themselves. The factors which allow them identification are suppression of false statement system, interpolation and process of selection, arrangement, a cursor, colours on screen.

This study was conducted to derive the optimal regionalization of the precipitation data which can be classified on the basis of climatologically and geographically homogeneous regions all over the regions except Cheju and Ulreung islands in Korea. A total of 65 rain gauges were used to regional analysis of precipitation. Annual maximum series for the consecutive durations of 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72hr were used for various statistical analyses. K-means clustering mettled is used to identify homogeneous regions all over the regions. Five homogeneous regions for the precipitation were classified by the K-means clustering. Using the L-moment ratios and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, the underlying regional probability distribution was identified to be the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution among applied distributions. The regional and at-site parameters of the generalized extreme value distribution were estimated by the linear combination of the probability weighted moments, L-moment. The regional and at-site analysis for the design rainfall were tested by Monte Carlo simulation. Relative root-mean-square error (RRMSE), relative bias (RBIAS) and relative reduction (RR) in RRMSE were computed and compared with those resulting from at-site Monte Carlo simulation. All show that the regional analysis procedure can substantially reduce the RRMSE, RBIAS and RR in RRMSE in the prediction of design rainfall. Consequently, optimal design rainfalls following the regions and consecutive durations were derived by the regional frequency analysis.

When English disyllabic words are borrowed into the Korean language, the loanwords tend to have extra syllables. The purpose of this paper is to find the syllable increase conditions in loanword adaptation and further to provide an algorithm to predict the syllable numbers of English disyllabic loanwords. There are three syllable augmentation conditions. The presence of diphthongs and the existence of consonant clusters guarantee the increase of the syllable numbers in the English loanwords. Further, the quality of the final consonant (and the preceding vowel) sometimes trigger the increase of the syllable numbers. Based on the conditions, an algorithm composed of 4 rules are proposed in order to predict the number of syllables in English disyllabic loanwords.

This study : An analysis of position accuracy of topography according to using LiDAR data, aerial photo and digital map for a study area was conducted. The study area was selected in Hadan area, Sahagu, Busan aerial LiDAR data and aerial photo in the scales of 1:20,000, which are high tech surveying ways were used. The final digital orthoimage according to orientation process for each image and image resampling was producted. Using it, a checkpoint was chosen, information about the checkpoints selected was extracted, a coordinate of Horizontal Position through the screen digitizing was also extracted. Both the coordinates of LiDAR data and aerial photo using digital map in the scales of 1:20,000 announced to the public from NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) were gradually compared and analyzed. Based on the digital map, as a result of being both compared and analyzed, it has shown to us that horizontal position of aerial photo is more accurate than that of aerial LiDAR surveying (RMSE-building x:24cm, y:26cm).
