Kim, Ki-Sang ; Kim, Gye-Young ; Choi, Hyung-Il ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 8, issue 9, 2008, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.001
In this paper, we proposed automatic face detection and tracking which is robustness in rotation. To detect a face image in complicated background and various illuminating conditions, we used face skin color detection. we used Harris corner detector for extract facial feature points. After that, we need to track these feature points. In traditional method, Lucas-Kanade feature tracker doesn't delete useless feature points by occlusion in current scene (face rotation or out of camera). So we proposed the estimation function, which delete useless feature points. The method of delete useless feature points is estimation value at each pyramidal level. When the face was occlusion, we deleted these feature points. This can be robustness to face rotation and out of camera. In experimental results, we assess that using estimation function is better than traditional feature tracker.
Design and Implementation of Mobile RFID Middleware Modules for the Mobile Environments

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.010
The most critical element in the real-time operation of RFID application programs that are suitable for the mobile environment is the RFID middleware, made exclusively for mobile handsets, which processes collected data on a real-time basis and sends only the useful information to the application client. In this paper, we intend to design and implement a mobile RFID middleware system that supports the mobile handset environment for real-time based processing of the necessary data in the mobile environment. The proposed mobile RFID middleware system includes a mobile reader interface that collects the tag data, a mobile filtering engine that processes the tag data into more meaningful data that is sent to the application interface, and finally the mobile application interface that supports the m-SOAP application access protocol for interfacing with existing mobile applications. The filtering speed of the newly-developed middleware engine was found to be suitable for the characteristics of mobile handsets.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.019
With the development of ubiquitous computing and the construction of infrastructure for one-to-one personalized services, the importance of context-aware services based on user's situation and environment is being spotlighted. The smart home technology connects real space and virtual space, and converts situations in reality into information in a virtual space, and provides user-oriented intelligent services using this information. In this paper, we proposed the discovery of the behavior sequence pattern using the mining in the smart home. We discovered the behavior sequence pattern by using mining to add time variation to the association rule between locations that occur in location transactions. We can predict the path or behavior of user according to the recognized time sequence and provide services accordingly. To evaluate the performance of behavior consequence pattern using mining, we conducted sample t-tests so as to verify usefulness. This evaluation found that the difference of satisfaction by service was statistically meaningful, and showed high satisfaction.

In recent years, embedded systems have been expanding their application domains from traditional embedded systems such as military weapons, robots, satellites and digital convergence systems such as celluar phones, PMP(Portable Multimedia Player), PDAs(Personal Digital Assistants) to Next Generation Personal Computers(NGPCs) such as eating PCs, wearable computers. The NGPCs are network-based, human-centric digital information devices diverged from the traditional PCs used mainly for document writing, internet searching and database management. Wearable computers with battery capacity and memory size limitations have to use real-time operating systems with small footprints and low power management techniques to provide user's QoS in spite of hardware constraints. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a low-power RTOS (called eRTOS) for wearable computers. The implemented eRTOS has 18KB footprints and the dynamic power management and the device power management schemes are adapted in it. Experimental results with wearable computer applications show that the low power techniques could save energy up to 47 %.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.055
At these information age when the importance of news is of particular emphasis, the field of image-production for the news are being made rapid progressive by high-tech like multi-media, multi-channel digital system. Even experts who have engaged in the work of broadcasting in th field for a long time are perplexed with rapid development in Broadcasting equipments and expression techniques. The field of TV is characterized by the speed of change and the desire of viewers for new and interesting video images. The image expression system applying image line has ever existed as one of conventional image expression methods. Obsolete and old image expressions are paling into significance for viewers who want to access more information in a short time. but The change of image expression systems due to the progressive stream of time has forced existing imaginary to be changed constantly to accommodate the changing interests and expectations of the viewers. Therefore, in this treatise, we need a broad interpretation about the direction of this imaginary line for TV news image in that existing systems of image producing haven’t also been changed and adapted to the stream of time. In these days, image is defined as not only video, but also audio. also We need to reduce the confusion concerning the imaginary line and contribute to a correct understanding images of TV news for not only customers but also producer by extending and applying the concept of imaginary line to image producing.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.074
In animation films, the movements of characters are exaggerated and comical. Traditional key-frame animation techniques allow to control exaggeration and comicality of characters at animators' wills. But, recently introduced motion capture techniques have limits on representing comicality and exaggeration although it is convenient to capture subjects' natural looks. This paper chooses two animations from key-frame and motion capture techniques and looks into comicality and exaggeration of characters by analyzing movements and motion of them Movements are classified as four fundamental motion elements - running, jump, gesture and walking - and are analyzed to compare the way of representation from two films. By studying similarity and differentiation of movements of two films, this paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of key-frame and motion capture techniques in terms of exaggeration and comicality. Comparison of the character movements from two techniques shows that there are common differentiations of those movements.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2008.8.9.084
Since 2005, the production of feature 3D animation has been growing up worldwide and technology of hardware and software has been advanced fully enough to get over the limitation of visual expression, so that rendering weight of the whole work process is getting more important. A final file in the state right before rendering increases. the data size gets bigger. Therefore, if such final file is rendered as it is, the production schedule may not be met. For, some needless time shall be spent to call and save a high-capacity file in amendment work and to execute the rendering entirely again in addition to amendment. In this study, Maya API was used to study the efficient information amendment method of extracting the rendering layers' files in order to develop a tool that executes rendering by applying such method. As the result, compliance to production schedule that is important in animation production can be done through the independent rendering tool based layer rendering that can maximize the efficiency of amendment work.

The new high order Earth's gravity Model(EGM2008) are expected to improve the application about the Earth's global gravity field. The objectives of this research are to present characteristics on the geoid heights of provinces in South KOREA which calculated from the height anomalies by Earth Gravity Models. For this, seven EGMs (EGM2008<2,190>, EGM2008<360>, EGM96, EIGEN-GL04C, EIGEN-CG03C, EIGEN-GL04S1, and ITG-Grace02S) selected. Geoid heights of fifty BM check points by GPS/levelling are compared with those by NORI-05 model and seven EGMs. And also, geoid heights of 30"
30" grid points in land(sixes blocks ;
sampled) and sea (four blocks ;
sampled) areas of South KOREA by EGM2008 are compared with those by NORI-05 and six EGMs. The results show that geoid heights obtained from EGM2008(2,190) of NGA displayed the nearest results to those by GPS/levelling.

The purpose of this study is to implement a visual organizer which enables learners to support web navigation as well as visual understandings in the electronic document space. I developed a visual organizer according to design principles of visual organizer, and then analysed the effect of a visual organizer on the students' disorientation, perceived usefulness, perceived usability, satisfaction and use intention. According to the result, using the visual organizer was more effect than conventional web-based instruction in view of navigation and visual understandings.
