Park, Jong-Hwa ; Kang, Hyun-Soo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 1~9
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.001
In this paper, we propose the efficient processing technique for unavailable data in hardware implementation of motion estimator in H.264/AVC with parallel processing architecture. Motion estimation processing in the hardware is generally based on pipe-lining, some MV data of neighbor blocks are not available, whereas all MV data are valid in software processing where the data are sequentially processed. In this paper, we solve the problem of data being unavailable in MVp computation. To minimize the quality degradation caused by unavailable MVs, in the proposed method, the unavailable MV of a neighboring block is replaced with an integer pel unit MV, an MVp of neighboring blocks, or an MVcol (MV of co-located block). Comparing to the conventional method , our method outperformed maximally 0.832dB and 0.179dB for QCIF and CIF, respectively, in terms of BDPSNR.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.010
This paper analyze the effect of frequency offset for the IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WPAN(Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network) with 915MHz bandwidth noncoherent DSSS O-QPSK based receiver system, and presents a compensation method with addition of differential filter to the system for compensation of frequency offset problem. DSSS PSSS-ASK and DSSS O-QPSK modulation techniques are accepted within the regularization of IEEE 802.15.4b. These new method can obtain 250kbps transmission rate. The DSSS O-QPSK modulation method that is used in this paper has no BER variation below 40ppm(frequency offset 36.6kHz), but if the offset frequency become high above 40ppm, then the system cannot have stable receiving condition due to worse BER. To solve this problem, we present a more stabilized receiver system at maximum frequency offset
using MDDF unti a correlator of DSSS O-QPSK modulator. Moreover computer simulation results will be presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm unde various AWGN and frequency offset environment.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 18~26
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.018
A hybrid part-of-speech tagging approaches may be robust, easily extendable, and accurate because they can have the advantages of both statistical approach and rule-based approach. But conventional hybrid part-of-speech tagging systems hardly resolve some morphological ambiguities which can't be resolved by statistical information. It is because the coverage of rules is narrow. So, we define disambiguation rules for individual ambiguous word based on syntax and semantics of surround words. We select words from which the top 50% of ambiguities are occurred in Sejong corpus and build 1,814 rules for them. The accuracy of our hybrid part-of-speech tagging system using those rules is 98.28%.

In 2005, Chien and Chen proposed a remote user authentication scheme for preserving user anonymity to conquer some problems Das et. al. schemes have. In 2007, Hu et. al. pointed out that their scheme have some problems. Therefore, they proposed a new one and claimed that their scheme overcome all of these problems. However, We will show that Hu et. al. scheme still hold some problems; it cannot resist to denial of service attack and protect the user anonymity. Hence, we propose ours and demonstrate our scheme conquer these problems.

We proposed similarity detection method of the video frame data that extracts the feature data of own video frame and creates the 1-D signal in this paper. We get the similar frame boundary and make the representative frames within the frame boundary to extract the similarity extraction between video. Representative frames make blurring frames and extract the feature data using DOG values. Finally, we convert the feature data into the 1-D signal and compare the contents similarity. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm get over 0.9 similarity value against noise addition, rotation change, size change, frame delete, frame cutting.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.051
Interactive multimedia broadcasting can serve various additional information of object in multimedia because of the commercialized data broadcasting by communication and broadcasting convergence. One of the most important factors in interactive multimedia broadcasting is User-Centric Interoperability. The higher User-Centric Interoperability, the more information of user-interest objects are served quickly by user request. This proposed method finds own area of the object in mask video and divides the area into equal parts. And then it store as a form of bitsum after clustering the area. As a result of experiment, We confirm the method is efficient to use space for storing position information of the object.

Lee, Hyung ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 60~66
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.060
In this paper, implementation of an ensemble transport interface (ETI) adapter for multimedia services based on terrestrial-digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) is introduced. In general, ETI adapter should manipulate three functions: receiving packets packing multimedia data from service providers, configuring an ETI frame (G.703) from these data, and transmitting these frames to T-DMB multiplexer. To achieve these roles, the proposed ETI adapter consists of the network management module for data transmission and flow control between service providers and this adapter, the ETI configuration module for gathering data and then making ETI frames, and the hardware board for pushing ETI frames in real-time. The proposed adapter yielded faithful results without data lose on transmitting ETI frames to T-DMB multiplexer in the range of
specified in ETSI EN 300 401 after packing multimedia data received via Internet.
Improvement of MAP Load Balancing in Hierarchical Mobile IPv6
Song, Bok-Sob ; Kim, Jeong-Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 67~75
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.067
The growing need for the mobility supportable networks induces the IP-based mobility management protocols. Though HMIPv6 which manages the micro-mobility of mobile nodes using MAPs suggests an effective method for mobility-support for mobile nodes within the domain that is managed by MAP. There is a problem that traffic may be concentrated on MAPs. In this paper, therefore, we proposed a method that can effectively distribute the traffic which is concentrated on a MAP under phased Mobile IPv6. In our proposed method, two or more MAPs are required and classified as an 'Active MAP' or a 'Passive MAP'. In addition, we defined the state of transition events between Active MAP and Passive MAP and the operations among MAPs for load distribution when an overload condition is occurred at some MAPs by traffic congestion. We compared the performance of our proposed method with its phased Mobile IPv6 to prove the propriety of our proposed method. As a result, we showed that our proposed method can provide an enhanced performance by about 12 percentages in view of packet throughput at the node.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.076
The growth of CPU and communication technologies have made an important contribution to the development of the network-based intelligent service robots. Robot software must guarantee the correct execution and safety of the user. To achieve this, it is highly required to research how to guarantee the QoS of the components which organize a robot software. The QoS of robot components aims to execute the component stably by processing the data stream in a correct way. By guaranteeing QoS, we can achieve the intelligence and stability of robots. In this paper, we design and implement the QoS framework to guarantee the QoS of robot components on robot platforms with limited resources. We also measure the response times of QoS requests and present the performance analysis results about it.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 88~96
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.088
In this paper we suggest the EEF technique to improve the performance of U-Health System. The idea of the EEF technique is that a sensor node sends only the abnormal data of patients to the base node. This technique reduces the amount of data transfer between a base node and sensor nodes, and so the power consumption of sensor nodes will be saved. And also the processing cost of base node will be reduced. In the suggested U-Health System based on EEF technique, electrocardiogram sensors and GPS sensors are used to send the electrocardiogram and position information of patients to a server. The server analyzes the health state of patients from base nodes and sends the information about the patients in the emergent state to the nearest hospital. Through the simulation, we have confirmed the suitability of EEF technique for U-Health System.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 115~124
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.115
The popular eigenfaces-based face recognition among proposed face recognition methods utilizes the eigenfaces obtained from applying PCA to a training face image set. Thus, it may not achieve a reliable performance under illumination environments different from that of training face images. In this paper, we propose an illumination-separate eigenfaces-based face recognition method, which excludes the effects of illumination as much as possible. The proposed method utilizes the illumination-separate eigenfaces which is obtained by orthogonal decomposition of the eigenface space of face model image set with respect to the constructed face illumination subspace. Through experiments, it is shown that the proposed face recognition method based on the illumination-separate eigenfaces performs more robustly under various illumination environments than the conventional eigenfaces-based face recognition method.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.125
The paradigm of economy has been transformed into knowledge based economic paradigm in 21th century. Analysis of patent trend is one of the strategic methods for increasing their patent competitive power. However, this method is just presenting statistical data about patent trend or qualitative analysis about some core technology. In this paper, we forecast technology diffusion using patent information for more progressive analysis. We make an experiment with bass model and logistic model and make use of patent data about information-security technology for NCW as input data. We conclude that the logistic model is more efficient for forecasting and this technology is approaching to the age of technology maturity.

This paper propose an expanded ASP exclusive development framework method. We applied a module to the suggested method which suit to develope ASP. Proposed method is a kind of module, which manages MVC develope methodology and treats Query and ASP information as a XML. It has flexibility which meets the client's request quickly. Using inherited base model which previously exist in template source, developer only concerned with development methodology so that they can reduce development time and reinforce a integrity of system. We proposed these improvements as a framework. Experimental results validate our scheme, showing a fewer number of files and a better flexibility than other development method, and also about 29% of program code has been reduced.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.142
Previous document clustering method, NSTC measures similarities between two document pairs using TF-IDF during web document clustering. In this paper, we propose new similarity measure using common phrase-based relational graph, not TF-IDF. This method suggests that weighting common phrases by relational graph presenting relationship among common phrases in document collection. And experimental results indicate that proposed method is more effective in clustering document collection than NSTC.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.152
At present, Authoring tools, which are used to develop the WIPI applications are less convenient to be coded. Usually, the programming tools only focus on the grammar while scarcity of visualization. Developer forced directly codes all times during the development by this cause. As a procedure for rapid WIPI Application Development, in this paper, WIPI API High Level Component is first visualized, in order words, graphic control is developed. Second this control is used in designing the mobile layout. Then UI Markup Language and source code can be generated automatically. With this view, we propose the JIML(Jlet Interface Markup Language) with UI Markup Language based XML of WIPI Jlet Platform and also present the transformable rule for generation to the WIPI code about WIPI Jlet UI from offered JIML. Also we implement the WIPI Jlet Generation System to make the generation to JIML, WIPI code. The Implemented System provides efficiency when developing WIPI Business Application, and helps to enable rapid development.
Cultural Contents of Image Texts and Memory Industry as the Memory - Focused on the Counter Memory of the Sixth Generation Chinese Movies -
Kim, Gye-Hwan ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 163~172
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.163
As cultural contents are rising to the surface, the contents and interests regarding the industries that utilize the culture become higher than any other times. Culture is performed with memory, and the culture that excludes memory cannot exist. The memory exceeds a dimension of the individual and operates with an assembled and social memory. Furthermore the culture requires media to put memories inevitable. Therefore, recent image texts are coming to the attention as new storage media. So this essay analyzed the meaning of 'memory' as social-cultural memory by putting the sixth generation Chinese movies to the center and restoration of image text that puts memory in it. And also, I examined the cultural meanings of 'individual memories' as the 'counter memory' and tried to find the possibility of junction between memory industry and the contents. I focused on the sixth generation Chinese movies because these movies made remarkable progresses in the international film festivals though they were made in 'underground' by objecting to 'official memory' proposed by the Chinese government.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.173
In the recent past, the impression expressed by a human body expanded from that of aesthetic beauty to deformed organic medium influenced by environment. And the advancement in digital technology had made it possible to represent the deformed and distorted images of human body more realistically. Consequentially, these exaggerated physical images leave audiences with a feeling of grotesqueness. Chris Cunningham is a British director who mainly focuses on grotesque body as his subject matter using digital media. This paper will explore Chris Cunningham's work and his final goal through analyzing his carnivorous, uncanny grotesque body images, making use of the figital media, at each of his different levels.

Prints in the contemporary art has the radical aspects at not only to maintain the characteristic of printmaking in a field of visual image but also to fulfill and communicate a desire of the public. We can see this from the change of the printmaking forms among the alternation of diverse expression methods and media such as from the line-cut at the Renaissance to colored print process, photography, the beginning of 20th century cartoons, advertisement, art, and graphic poster. From that, we can understand the printmaking as a fluid media, not fixed, has finely accomplished its functions as an act of visual language to smoothly communicate with the individual desire and character than word or language at the complex and various cultural surface. This study is focused on that prints as an avant-garde language in popular culture. Therefore, I have examined the following two aspects. First, with focussing at the specific characters of the graphic posters, I try to define the differences between language and visual language and the effect from it to our emotional perception and behavior with the politic and economic point of view. Second, how has the printmaking art as an fine arts finely accomplished an linguistic action. These are the purpose of this study.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 193~202
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.193
This dissertation is considerably studied Faction Genre which is embossed as a new image content, and it is figured out practical used works' possibilities for Korea film production's varieties. Faction, a neologism, which is combined by Fiction and Fact, is a boundary as limits. If authentic history is closed to a truth, it is a record history description method. Also, if unauthorized history is closed to a fake, it is a fictitious history description method. In addition, macro history and micro history are respectively connected to social criticism's matter and personal action, and these can make various analyses, depend on a boundary's limits and personal analysis. On the other hand, history film could be remembered to audience merely history film itself without existed history's fact. However, there are Faction Genre's Genre possibility and film's attraction which indirectness experience of historic fact could be experienced through film. For Faction Genre’s developing solution, there are three cognitive switches; audience's interpretation ability about history film through watching perception, linking between the past and the present for audience through communication with history, audience's considerable decision about history first or fiction first as film writer's interpretation. Above all, hopefully filmic pressure can be shown with historical true to audience. Therefore, it would be Korea Faction Genre's attraction and hope.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 2, 2009, Pages 203~215
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.203
Many companies in Korea have developed job competency models and are utilizing them for the purpose of training and management of employees. However many of them are unable to be utilized efficiently through their own job competency model because the company failed to reflect what happens in the real work place in the model or the model itself is not concrete enough to be applied practically. Thus, in this study, the current status of Korean companies which had developed their own job competency model were investigated and the subsequent development of training system which is based on the model were developed. By result of the survey, about 43.5% of the company, which has more than 400 employees, have developed job competency models and 31.7% of them haven‘t been able to develop training system based upon the model due to the lack of concreteness of their model. To overcome this contradiction, we developed web 2.0 based job competency modeling method where each individuals in the organization themselves develop job competency as opposed to an expert oriented developing method. The result of this study is that web 2.0 based job competency modeling method is superior to any another modeling in an accuracy of competency, an acceptance of competency, and an usefulness of competency description.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.242
In this study, we analysed the impact of performing level of CSR-Labor standard index to corporate's expectation level to raise the employee's job satisfaction and morale. Using ordered probit analysis method, corporate higher level of performing CSR-Labor standard index is related with higher expectation of raising the employee's jobs satisfaction and morale on average. Also performing levels of individual index are positively related with expectation level. When using all standard indexes in the analysis, index 3 named "workplace without discrimination" and index 7 named "healthy and safe workplace" have significant coefficients. Therefore we confirmed that corporate making efforts to achieve safe workplace without discrimination has higher expectation to raise the employee's job satisfaction and morale. Finally we concluded that CSR-Labor standard index is properly constructed.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.301
This paper studied the scheme to realize the manifesto as the method of resolving the side effects after the introduction of the superintendent's election system, a direct election by local residents, in order to implement participative democracy in the educational field. When the superintendent's election system playing an important role in protecting the identity of a state is intruded by the political logic, ideology or factional interest, it leads to the educational crisis such as the damaged independence of the policy and the like. The local educational autonomous system is the institutional arrangement to secure the independence and neutrality of education based on morality and guarantee the democratization and decentralization of educational administration. The scheme to resolve the corrupt aspect of the election of the superintendent is to lead election to the policy-based election. This paper presents the scheme to realize the manifesto movement of the superintendent's electoral campaign to resolve this side effect. All political agents and candidates should be allowed to make free access to diverse information to draw up the manifesto and raise the reliability of the manifesto itself, be guaranteed neutrality, speciality, objectiveness, fairness and the like. In particular, it can be seen that the core task is whether citizens can be involved in the manifesto movement through a shift in their thinking about educational autonomy.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.2.309
This study was to investigate the effects of restoring cognition function and neurotrophic factor in the hippocampus according to memory and learning training in rats affected by brain injury. Brain injury was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats(36 rats) through middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAo). And then experiment groups were randomly divided into three groups; Group I: Brain injury induction(n=12), Group II: the application for treadmill training after brain injury induction(n=12), Group III: the application for memory and learning training after brain injury induction(n=12). Morris water maze acquisition test and retention test were performed to test cognitive function. And the histological examination was also observed through the immunohistochemistric response of BDNF(brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the hippocampus. For Morris water maze acquisition test, there were significant interactions among the groups with the time(p<.001). The time to find the circular platform in Group III was more shortened than in Group I, II on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th day. For Morris water maze retention test, there were significant differences among the groups(p<.001). The time to dwell on quadrant circular platform in Group III on the 13th day was the longest compared with other groups. And as the result of observing the immunohistochemistric response of BDNF in the hippocampus CA1, the response of immunoreactive positive in Group III on the 7th day increased more than that of Group I, II. These results suggested that the memory and learning training in rats with brain injury has a more significant impact on restoring cognitive function via the changes of neurotropic factor expression and synaptic neuroplasticity.

In this paper, we argue that characteristics of ubiquitous business are different from those of e-business or m-business. We have developed a u-business model development framework incorporating the concept of value co-creation experiences, which is a core of the ubiquitous business paradigm. The framework of u-business model development presented in this paper consists of eight steps such as defining of domain, discovery of opportunity nucleus, defining of potential co-creation experience environment, deriving candidates of u-business services, selecting u-business killer services, defining value propositions of u-business killer services, defining u-business killer service offerings, and drawing a resource map of u-business killer services. The proposed u-business model development framework offers useful guidelines for practitioners to develop successful u-business models under a ubiquitous business paradigm.

In this paper, we evaluated the performance of the automatic classifier applied for the discrimination of acute alcoholic liver injury and chronic liver fibrosis. The classifier uses the discriminant peaks of the preprocessed Raman spectrum as a feature set. In preprocessing step, we subtract baseline and apply Savitzky-Golay smoothing filter which is known to be useful at preserving peaks. After identifying discriminant peaks from the spectra, we carried out the classification experiments using MAP and neural networks. According to the experimental results, the classifier shows the promising results to diagnosis alcoholic liver injury and chronic liver fibrosis. Classification results over 80% means that the peaks used as a feature set is useful for diagnosing liver disease.

As the learning space has expanded, the distance education has become a recent scholarship in teaching-learning method, and also a great type of media, technologies and strategies to support distance education are attracting a fair amount of attention. However in order to manage a distance education system, it is necessary to be endowed user with technical ability and operational expenses. On the other hand, although a web-based system that makes simple may cut cost, it is difficult to analyze learner's behaviors. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a interactive distance system based on individualized questioning, which relies upon learner's knowledge state and applies a efficient individualized learning method. Additionally, this study is instrument to reduce users' technical ability and operational expenses.
