Genetic Clustering with Semantic Vector Expansion
Song, Wei ; Park, Soon-Cheol ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 1~8
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.001
This paper proposes a new document clustering system using fuzzy logic-based genetic algorithm (GA) and semantic vector expansion technology. It has been known in many GA papers that the success depends on two factors, the diversity of the population and the capability to convergence. We use the fuzzy logic-based operators to adaptively adjust the influence between these two factors. In traditional document clustering, the most popular and straightforward approach to represent the document is vector space model (VSM). However, this approach not only leads to a high dimensional feature space, but also ignores the semantic relationships between some important words, which would affect the accuracy of clustering. In this paper we use latent semantic analysis (LSA)to expand the documents to corresponding semantic vectors conceptually, rather than the individual terms. Meanwhile, the sizes of the vectors can be reduced drastically. We test our clustering algorithm on 20 news groups and Reuter collection data sets. The results show that our method outperforms the conventional GA in various document representation environments.

Cheong, Cha-Keon ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 9~19
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.009
In this paper, we propose a novel hardware architecture to facilitate the applicable SoC chip design of H.264/SVC which has a great deal of advancement in the international standardization in recent. Moreover, a new C-model simulator based on the proposed hardware system will be presented to support optimal SoC circuit development. Since the proposed SVC decoder is consist of some hardware engine for processing of major decoding tools and core processor for software processing, the system is simply implemented with the conventional embedded system. To improve the feasibility and applicability, and reduce the decoder complexity, the hardware decoder architecture is constructed with only the consideration of IPPP structure scalability without using the full B-picture. Finally, we present results of decoder hardware implementation and decoded picture to show the effectiveness of the proposed hardware architecture and C-model simulator.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 20~27
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.020
H.264/AVC video coding standard adapting a rate-distortion optimization technique to select the best coding mode with multi reference frames for each macroblock gets a higher coding efficiency than those of previous video coding standards but the computational complexity increases drastically. Therefore, many fast mode decision algorithms are proposed to reduce the computational complexity. Among them, we propose a fast intra mode decision algorithm based on directional information of I4MB. The proposed algorithm achieves consistent time saving about 15% in IPPP sequences and 44% in all I frame sequences with negligible loss in PSNR and small increment of bit rate compared with that of JM11.0.

Lee, Hyung-Woo ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 28~38
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.028
Login process uses both ID and password information to authenticate someone and to permit its access privilege on system. However, an attacker can get those ID and password information by using existing packet sniffing or key logger programs. It cause privacy problem as those information can be used as a hacking and network attack on web server and web e-mail system. Therefore, a more secure and advanced authentication mechanism should be required to enhance the authentication process on existing system. In this paper, we propose a multi-factor authentication process by using software form of secure card system combined with existing ID/Password based login system. Proposed mechanism uses a random number generated from the his/her own handset with biometric information. Therefore, we can provide a one-time password function on web login system to authenticate the user using multi-factor form. Proposed scheme provide enhanced authentication function and security because it is a 'multi-factor authentication mechanism' combined with handset and biometric information on web login system.

Cho, Kang-Hong ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 49~57
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.049
This paper has proposed Flow Holding Time based Link State Update(LSU) Algorithm that can improve the performance of the existing LSU algorithms. As the existing LSU algorithms are based on the network traffic information, the proposed algorithm is based on flow holding time so we can minimize the LSU message overhead and has not had a strong influence on the depreciation of QoS routing performance. We apply a flow holding time in order to decrease the number of LSU message. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed model and the existing algorithms on MCI simulation network using the performance metric as the QoS routing blocking rate and the mean update rate per link, it thus appears that we have verified the performance of this algorithm.

Classification System of Mobile Contents based on Convergence Trend
Yoo, Min-Ho ; Nam, Kyoung-Hwa ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 3, 2009, Pages 108~117
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.3.108
Current mobile content's classifications have two major problems. One violates a principle of classification and the other reveals limitations in dealing with various convergence services. This study proposes a new mobile content's classification system to resolve these problems by adapting Al Ries's principle of symmetric and asymmetric transition. Symmetric mobile contents take a form of mutation in convergence process; therefore, the contents would appear different from their originals whereas asymmetric type combines mobile contents in an autonomous way. This new system not only demonstrates a clearer classification but also implies the trend of mobile content development and services. The current suggests that symmetric type is preferable and symmetric type of mobile contents is re-developed to become a symmetric type as much as the technology can support. Nonetheless, it is found that asymmetric type would still be serviced to some extent. Thus, new mobile content's classification, proposed in this research, provides a more constructive understating of mobile content's directions in the era of digital convergence and a ground for comparative analysis of mobile content's development or positioning strategies.

This study empirically analyzed how the organizational fairness perceived by revenue officers affect the empowerment and employee efforts. The result of the analysis revealed that as for job fairness, distribution fairness and interaction fairness, with the exception of process fairness, have significant influence on the empowerment while the empowerment, in turn, has significant influence on the employee efforts. This finding confirms that a high level of organizational fairness perceived by revenue officers in their job processes results in a high level of empowerment, which then produces heightened employee efforts, eventually contributing to the efficiency of revenue officers' job performance and the improvement of satisfaction with service quality. Therefore, it is necessary that administrators of revenue offices allow their subordinates to develop their potentials by empowering the employees and delegating authority.

The purpose of this study were to examine the effect of two different pelvic alignments and the back belt on electromyographic(EMG) activity of the erector spinae during lifting. The results were as follows: 1) EMG activity of erector spinae was greater when the pelvis was tilted anteriorly than when the pelvis was tilted posteriorly during lifting. 2) EMG activity of erector spinae was greater when the back belt than when without the back belt during lifting. These results suggest that the greater EMG activity of erector spinae with an anterior pelvic tilt position and with back belt during lifting may ensure optimal muscular support for the spine while handling loads.

The purpose of the paper is to offer an analysis of adult probationers and their recidivism and to suggest a policy to prevent recidivism. Various data analysis methods like frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, regression analysis and logistic regression analysis were used to determine which of a second offense factors and recidivism included in initial data investigation could effectively explain or forecast reference values. This study focused on identifying relations associated with follow-up misconducts of adults under probation, and supposing that those factors could be associated with their second offenses. But it failed to yield so much significant findings. Nevertheless, this study has its own significance in a sense that it explored various risk factors and desires of adults under probation according to empirical data, and suggested formulated measures useful in practice to select and categorize appropriate treatments.

The glass ceiling is defined as a barrier so subtle that it is transparent, that it prevents women and minorities from moving up in the management hierarchy. Individuals in the minority may perceive the presence of a glass ceiling within their social context, a barrier put in to place by those in the advantaged majority. This study has testified pragmatically the influence of glass ceiling perceived by the female employees of travel agency on their work attitudes(organizational commitment, turnover intention). Data were collected by 202 full time female employees. The results of analysis is as follows: First, it is revealed that glass ceiling has no influence on turnover intention. Second, this study show that the higher glass ceiling is perceived by the female employees of travel agency, the more they have negative influence on their affective commitment. Contrary to our expectation, however, it is revealed that glass ceiling has no influence on continuance commitment. That is, glass ceiling have significant effects on affective commitment whereas the effects are not significant for continuance commitment. Third, affective commitment have significant effects on turnover intention. However, it is revealed that continuance commitment has no influence on turnover intention.

The use of colorants as additives for foods and drinks is a significant factor to food consumers in determining the acceptability of processed foods. In recent years, the number of previously used artificial colorants/dyes suitable for food use has been drastically reduced as a result of toxicological studies. Therefore, the use of natural pigments such as anthocyanins and betacyanins that were known to have anticancer and antioxidant activities is increasingly required. In this study, the water-soluble plant pigments, anthocyanins and betacyanins, were easily extracted with a very simple method using a few organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, ethyl ether, and chloroform. After the extraction of them, these two major plant pigments could be also simply and rapidly separated and discriminated by a solely one-stepped agarose gel electrophoresis in a citrate buffer (pH 3.0).

LAMS(learning activity management system) is one of the useful tools for designing and managing effectively the learning activities such as web search, chat, forum, grouping, and board. Even if LAMS has been upgraded to support the methods for making e-Learning contents conveniently, it does not have a method to communicate with external educational contents (EEC) made by external tools like Flash, Java, Visual C++, and so on. LAMS, which has been operated on Web environment, should manage all EECs like video and dynamic educational contents as educational contents in LAMS database. However, the current LAMS does not support the functionalities which can provide information of EECs to LAMS database and can also access any information about EECs from the database yet. In this paper, we propose the communication mechanism between the LAMS and EECs for solving the problem. In special, the mechanism makes many statistical data by using the information, and provides them for reflecting in education, and can control various learning management that was impossible under the original LAMS. Based on the proposed mechanism, teachers using LAMS can make more various educational contents and can manage them in the system.
