DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.001
The correct detection of skin color is an important preliminary process in fields of face detection and human motion analysis. It is generally performed by three steps: transforming the pixel color to a non-RGB color space, dropping the illuminance component of skin color, and classifying the pixels by the skin color distribution model. Skin detection depends on by various factors such as color space, presence of the illumination, skin modeling method. In this paper we propose a 3d skin color model that can segment pixels with several ethnic skin color from images with various illumination condition and complicated backgrounds. This proposed skin color model are formed with each components(Y, Cb, Cr) which transform pixel color to YCbCr color space. In order to segment the skin color of several ethnic groups together, we first create the skin color model of each ethnic group, and then merge the skin color model using its skin color probability. Further, proposed model makes several steps of skin color areas that can help to classify proper skin color areas using small training data.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.013
One of the main purpose of multiple-view image processing technology is support realistic 3D image to device user by using multiple viewpoint display devices and compressed data restoration devices. This paper proposes a multiple view image synthesis scheme based on RAM disk which makes possible to browse 3D images generated by applying effective composing method to real time input stereo images. The proposed scheme first converts input images to binary image. We applies edge detection algorithm such as Sobel algorithm and Prewiit algorithm to find edges used to evaluate disparities from images of 4 multi-cameras. In addition, we make use of time interval between hardware trigger and software trigger to solve the synchronization problem which has stated ambiguously in related studies. We use a unique identifier on each snapshot of images for distributed environment. With respect of performance results, the proposed scheme takes 0.67 sec in each binary array. to transfer entire images which contains left and right side with disparity information for high quality 3D image browsing. We conclude that the proposed scheme is suitable for real time 3D applications.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.033
As the usage of computers and mobile handsets is popularized, the processing and storing of private and business data are increased. Hence we note that these sensitive data should never be transferred out of these personal devices without user's permission. In this paper, we propose a simple method to prevent transferring the sensitive data out of personal computing devices through their networking interfaces. The proposed method determines which processes invoke open system call related to the sensitive data, and then traces them within a specific duration. The proposed scheme has advantage over the existing ones using authentication or encryption because it could be still working well independent upon the new attack technologies or the latest vulnerabilities of hardware and software. In order to verify the proposed algorithm, we test it by implementing the necessary codes at the user and kernel spaces of Linux.

Shin, Dong-Suk ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 50~60
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.050
Recently, the traffic card is gradually utilized and its several supplementary services have been significantly developed. Particularly, since it is possible to pay fees for buses, taxies, subways, parking and tollgates with only one traffic card, new payment method for economically processing has been focused. This paper presents a new receipt management system which allows possibly paying with several digital cards through PC interfacing terminals. The proposed system is mainly composed of three parts: terminals, middleware, and management servers. A terminal part includes processing module for payment/charging and credit/check/debit cards, etc and its operation is fulfilled through a middleware part. A main task of a middleware part is to connect a terminal part to managing servers through middleware applications. Additionally, processing of several receipt items and monitoring of the terminals to product statistical reports based on the processed result are carried out in the middleware. A management sever part is accomplished for collecting all of transaction histories against users and charging items over allowed province and managing statistical information. The proposed system is currently utilized in the Nam-GU district office and the Nam-GU district health center, Busan, S. Korea, respectively for testing its effectiveness. We conclude from this demonstration that the system is more useful and efficient than the previous processing method especially in that variable payment ways are provided and consumption burden is reduced.
ERD Representation using Auto-Generated Form and SQL
Ra, Young-Gook ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 61~75
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.061
Generally, the development of the database application includes the requirement analysis phase of creating ERD (Entity Relationship Diagram) and process models, coding, and testing. From the above phases, the analysis phase is not most formalized. It is usually hard task because (1) customers don't know the details of the desired system; (2) developers can't with ease understand the business logic of the customers; (3) the outcomes of the analysis, which are ERD and process models, are not easy to understand to the customers. This paper propose that the executional forms, which are better to understand the systems, should be presented to the customers instead of the ERD. These forms should accept the data input so that customers can review the various aspects of the outcome models. The developers should be able to instantly implement the business logic and also should be able to visually demonstrate the logic in order to get the details of it. For this goal, the customer supplied business logic should be able to be implemented by the references between forms, actions, constraints from the perspective of the data flow. The customers try to execute the forms implementing the business logic and review their supplied logic find new necessary business logic of their own. Iterating these processes for the requirement analysis would result in the success of the analysis which is sufficiently detailed without conflicts.
Animated Mesh Compression with Semi-regular Remeshing
Ahn, Min-Su ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 76~83
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.076
This paper presents a compression method for animated meshes or mesh sequences which have a shared connectivity and geometry streams. Our approach is based on static semi-regular mesh compression algorithm introduced by Khodakovky et al. Our encoding algorithm consists of two stages. First, the proposed technique creates a semi-regular mesh sequence from an input irregular mesh sequence. For semi-regular remeshing of irregular mesh sequences, this paper adapts the MAPS algorithm. However, MAPS cannot directly be performed to the input irregular mesh sequence. Thus, the proposed remesh algorithm revises the MAPS remesher using the clustering information, which classify coherent parts during the animation. The second stage uses wavelet transformation and clustering information to compress geometries of mesh sequences efficiently. The proposed compression algorithm predicts the vertex trajectories using the clustering information and the cluster transformation during the animation and compress the difference other frames from the reference frame in order to reduce the range of 3D position values.

Effect of Noise Reduction Function in Digital Camera on the Resolution of Digital Image
Har, Dong-Hwan ; Park, Hyung-Ju ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 91~98
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.091
Recent digital camera development tendency shows the higher ISO extension which enables a user to take a picture in deemed lighting condition without using a flash or another equipment. Also noise reduction function has been developed to adjust the higher ISO extension. But using the high ISO causes a lot of noises so that proper noise reduction function should be adjusted. So the manufacturers introduce the advanced noise reduction function with higher ISOs as the digital camera performance development. On the other hands, the defect of noise reduction is not widely open such as remaining noise in high ISOs and decreasing resolution. Therefore, in this research we verify and experiment the decrease of resolution by using noise reduction function on a digital camera. Moreover we analyze the results how much the noise reduction function effects to the image resolution. And we present the results as practical numerical values.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 174~181
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.174
Recently hospitals are implementing a One Stop Service as part of patient-care service. With the One Stop Service, medical treatment including consultation, inspection, and results are changing to be made available in one visit. Therefore most examinations are reserved for the same day; however, there are cases in which additional visits are necessary because of certain properties related to exams. This study compares and analyzes the number of reinspections before and after reforms. By designating the order of priority for BMD examinations and implementing education from information obtained in the OCS E-manual update, the number of reinspections for wards was reduced from 58 to 21, Outpatient departments were reduced from 51 to 12, and errors in reservations made by employees in the department of radiology were reduced from 98 to 11. Reinspections can be reduced with full understanding the factors related to reinspection and a background check prior to inspection in order to determine the order of priority for inspections. This will also reduce workers' stress and increase their efficiency and at the same time decease patient dissatisfaction and improve hospital reliability.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 197~205
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.197
With the introduction of the computer, convenience at work may have increased but flexibility decreased along with a tendency for humans to become secondary to computers with regards to work schedules. As it exists, from entering the department of radiology to completion of imaging requires a great deal of time and difficulties in understanding the imaging process adds to patient dissatisfaction. Since clinics use RFID bars to track patient locations at comprehensive medical testing centers, departments of radiology may apply RFID and Worklist at the core of the OCS system in order to increase work efficiency and improve work flow. As a result of developing an RFID and Worklist centered OCS program, there was a vast improvement in patient satisfaction and work flow. Theses results are the basis of an RFID system that in the future may be connected to PACS and other systems with an intergrated Worklist. There is a need to realize a plan the can offer ubiquity to hospital work.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 230~240
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.230
This study proposes a theory of consumer experiences based on a cognitive science framework that serves as an alternative to the mainstream marketing paradigm of information processing and choice. The theory consists of three key theoretical constructs: experiential modules, primary vs. secondary experiences, and the hierarchy of experiential modules. Based on this theory, this study investigates the effect of experiential attributes and functional attributes on consumer's product evaluations, and the moderating role of consumer's knowledge. The main research findings are (1) the subjects react faster to sensory and affective stimuli(ex: experiential attributes) than they do to intellectual stimuli (ex: functional attributes), (2) the interaction modularity of attributes(functional vs. experiential)

On 7 December 2007, the Hong Kong registered tanker Hebei Spirit, laden with 209,000 tonnes of crude oil, was struck by the crane barge Samsung No 1, whilst at anchor about five miles off Taean on the West Coast in Korea. About 10,500 tonnes of crude oil escaped into the sea from the Hebei Spirit. The recent oil leakage from a tanker in seas off Taean has turned the sea farms and fishing areas on the country's western coast into a sea of oil. Analysts say the spill is considered as one of the world's devastating sea pollution cases involving oil. In our contemporary society where people are exposed to potential dangers in every aspect, no one can be free from such dangers. With an increase in human casualties due to disaster, disaster reporting plays a vital role in preventing and minimizing damages. Despite such enormous significance, however, Korean disaster reporting has not performed effectively. In this contexts, this study analyzed the problems of disaster reporting in Korea, with the case of Hebei Spirit oil Spill in Taean-gun. And, this study suggest the establish ways and means needed to improve the disaster reporting in Korea with the case of Hebei Spirit case.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.249
The purpose of this study is to suggest the strategies of building disaster resistant communities to overcome communities destruction and vulnerability caused by the Hebei Spirit oil spill accident in Taean on December 7th, 2007. For accomplishing the purpose, we drew problems of approach based on context of community, governance strategy, and community-based approach. And based on the results of this analysis, suggestions were made as follows for building disaster resistant communities. First, when Hebei Spirit oil spill accident occurred we have been short of regional study and unreality of regional safety plan. For overcoming this points, we have need of activation of regional study and establishment of regional safety plan based on the bottom-up approach. Second, while the spill has brought a milestone activation of volunteer, we have not still efficient disaster management based on governance. So we have to establish network-governance to cooperate with government-business-private sector for efficient disaster management. Third, we argue that it is important to build social capital such as social networks, social contacts for community-based disaster resistant communities.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.265
Many disaster management actors participate in the disaster sites and they do their best for the best result in their given position. They recover the disaster-stricken area, endeavor to prevent the disaster's relapse, and to rescue and protect the disaster victims. Ultimately, the purpose of their role and effort is to support a physical aid as well as material aid for that disaster victims can return their living condition to the original one before the disaster. However, the disaster management services have been provided in the supplier's view till now. Subsequently, despite significant efforts, providers have failed to comprehend what would be the victim's demand and how to reflect that in the disaster management service. In this paper, we approached and analyzed the recent disaster management service in the way of grounded theory, and endeavored to find the solution which disaster victims preferred. As a result of analysis, we found 184 concepts, 28 sub-categories, and 9 categories which could explain the victims' desired solution. We found that "an imperfect restoration which causes disaster" and "pain of the disaster field" would be main categories among them.

Jee, Jin-Ho ;
The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 5, 2009, Pages 284~292
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.284
A considerable amount of theoretical and empirical research has been done on the conceptualization of emotional labor, as well as its antecedents and consequences. The field, however, is lacking consistency respect to theory building and empirical findings, which suggests the need for more programmatic research. The main objective of this study is to build on prior research and further examine the theory, antecedents and consequences(service delivery level) of emotional labor, and to find out the relationship. In the results of empirical research, I found that two antecedent variables, job-related characters and display rules, influenced significantly employee perceived emotional labor. And both surface acting and deep acting have been found to have a influence on employees' service deliverly level, deep acting is more likely than surface acting to lead to service attitude of travel service provider. In business practices, more attention is needed in organizations' incentive programme and training considerations in jobs that have high demands. Despite these results, current studdy has its limitations. So, it may be interesting to further examine the relationship between emotional labor and control variables.

Functional prediction of unannotated proteins is one of the most important tasks in yeast genomics. Analysis of a protein-protein interaction network leads to a better understanding of the functions of unannotated proteins. A number of researches have been performed for the functional prediction of unannotated proteins from a protein-protein interaction network. A chi-square method is one of the existing methods for the functional prediction of unannotated proteins from a protein-protein interaction network. But, the method does not consider the topology of network. In this paper, we propose a novel method that is able to predict specific molecular functions for unannotated proteins from a protein-protein interaction network. To do this, we investigated all protein interaction DBs of yeast in the public sites such as MIPS, DIP, and SGD. For the prediction of unannotated proteins, we employed a modified chi-square measure based on neighborhood counting and we assess the prediction accuracy of protein function from a protein-protein interaction network.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.5.346
This paper proposes a new learning recommendation system for learning patterns that educators are applying to learners using item-based method. The proposed method in this paper first collects personal learning methods based on learning information that learners are performing through the internet contents site. Then this system recommends a learning method which is estimated most properly to learners after classifying learning elements based on these information. The students of a middle school took part in the experiment in order to evaluate the proposed system, and the students were divided into three groups according to their grades. We gave inter-attribute and intra-attribute weights to learning elements applying to each group for recommending the most efficient method to improve learning achievement. The experiment showed that the learning achievement of learners in the proposed method is improved considerably compared to the previous grades.
