DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.001
In this paper, we propose a home medical system that integrates a self-diagnosing disease classification system and a tele-consulting system by communication technology. The proposed disease classification system supports to self-diagnose the health condition based on oriental medical science using fuzzy neural network algorithm. The prepared database includes 72 different diseases and their associated symptoms based on a famous medical science book "Dong-eui-bo-gam". The proposed system extracts three most prospective diseases from user's symptoms by analyzing disease database with fuzzy neural network technology. Technically, user's symptoms are used as an input vector and the clustering algorithm based upon a fuzzy neural network is performed. The degree of fuzzy membership is computed for each probable cluster and the system infers the three most prospective diseases with their degree of membership. Such information should be sent to medical doctors via our tele-consulting system module. Finally a user can take an appropriate consultation via video images by a medical doctor. Oriental medical doctors verified the accuracy of disease diagnosing ability and the efficacy of overall system's plausibility in the real world.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.019
This paper presents an approach to classify normal and ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation(VT/VF) from the Creighton University Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia Database(CUDB) using the neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM) and wavelet transforms. In the first step, wavelet transforms are used to obtain the detail coefficients at levels 3 and 4. In the second step, all of detail coefficients d3 and d4 are classified into four intervals, respectively, and then the standard deviations of the specific intervals are used as eight numbers of input features of NEWFM. NEWFM classifies normal and VT/VF beats using eight numbers of input features, and then the accuracy rate is 90.1%.

The advances in communication technology and the popularity of network have rendered the increment of demand and desire to digital contents, and a number of creative digital contents produced. According to the time of compilation and a production of raw data, and manners, the format of digital contents may be variable and there can be existed in many connection information about digital contents. Although there are many metadata for standardizing the digital contents, they do not consider for expressing the connection relation about digital contents. In this paper, we proposed the new metadata for expressing the connection information about digital contents. This metadata is compatible the metadata of dublin core out of international standard of digital contents. Our metadata can express the variable direct or indirect connection relation about digital contents by expanding the relation element of dublin core. Also, our system can provide more useful information since we develop a system for managing connection information of digital contents based on our metadata.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.037
Digital watermarking is a technology for preventing illegal copying, for protecting intellectual property rights and copyrights, and for suggesting grounds of the ownership by inserting watermarks into digital contents. Generally speaking, watermarking techniques cannot escape from data distortion and quality degradation due to the watermark insertion. In order to overcome the shortcoming, zero-watermarking techniques which do not change the original data have been proposed recently. This paper proposes CSMVQ(Chaotic SMVQ), a zero-watermarking system for SMVQ(Side Match Vector Quantization) which shows better compression ratio and quality and less blocking effect than VQ(Vector Quantization). In SMVQ, compression progresses from left top to right bottom in order to use the information of the two neighbor blocks, so it is impossible to insert watermarks chaotically. In the process of encoding, CSMVQ dynamically considers the information of the (1 to 4) neighbor blocks already encoded. Therefore, watermark can be inserted into digital contents in chaotic way. Experimental results show that the image quality compressed by CSMVQ is better than that of SMVQ and the inserted watermark is robust against some common attacks.

There are many internet users who collect the public opinions and express their opinions for internet news or blog articles through the replying comment on online community. But, it is hard to search and explore useful messages on web blogs since most of web blog systems show articles and their comments to the form of sequential list. Also, spam and malicious comments have become social problems as the internet users increase. In this paper, we propose a clustering and visualizing system for responding comments on large-scale weblogs, namely 'Daum AGORA,' using similarity analysis. Our system shows the comment clustering result as a simple screen view. Our system also detects spam comments using Needleman-Wunsch algorithm that is a well-known algorithm in bioinformatics.

Zigbee is a universal communication standard used in USN and is utilized in various applications. Zigbee protocol provides an address within a single PAN network, and at this time, it uses DAA. This is a method that divides a 16-bit address area into blocks with a fixed size according to the depth to assign one to each node. However, this method is limited because it has to assign addresses in 16 bits. As the depth increases, the number of nodes also increases exponentially to the maximal number of routers provided to each depth. Therefore, it is difficult to construct a huge network with numerous routers and large depth as in the places which are wide or have many shadow areas. Besides, since all the operations are performed in a single PAN network, it is hard to make several PANs into a single network. This article suggests new addressing and routing methods that can construct several PAN networks into a single network and combine broad area with less limitation in the number of routers and depth by extending the Zigbee-based network. Moreover, this paper has tested its performance and has verified its usability through substantive tests.

IEEE 802.11 WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) standard is currently developing with increased wireless internet demand. Study trends of IEEE 802.11n for high throughput show two aspects, enhanced system throughput using aggregation among packets in MAC(Medium Access Control) layer, and better data rates adapting MIMO(Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) in PRY(Physical) layer. But, no one demonstrates IEEE 802.11n system performance results considering MAC and PRY connection. This paper adapts A-MPDU(Aggregation-MAC Protocol Data Unit) method in MAC layer and MIMO in PRY layer for IEEE 802.11n system. Consequently, Simulation results show enhanced throughput and data rates compared to existing system. Also, We use NS-2(Network Simulator-2) considering MAC and PRY connection for reality.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.076
UWB signal with high resolution capability can be used to estimate ranging and positioning in wireless personal area network. The node works on its local clock and the frequency differences of nodes have serious affects on ranging algorithms estimating locations of mobile nodes. The low rate UWB, IEEE802.15.4a, describes asynchronous two way ranging methods such as TWR and SDS-TWR working without any additional network synchronization, but the algorithms can not eliminate the effect of clock frequency differences. Therefore, the mechanisms to characterize the crystal difference is essential in typical UWB PHY implementations. In high rate UWB, characterizing of crystal offset with tracking loop is not required. But, detection of the clock frequency offset between the local clock and remote clock can be performed if there is little noise induced jitter. In this paper, we complete related ranging equations of high rate UWB based on TWR with relative frequency offset, and analyze a residual error in the ideal equations. We also evaluate the performance of the relative frequency offset algorithm by simulation and analyze the ranging errors according to the number of TWR to compensate coarse clock resolution. The results show that the relative frequency offset compensation and many times of TWR enhance the performance to converge to a limited ranging errors even with coarse clock resolutions.

We propose a network-based global mobility mechanism between the IP based Access Networks. In the core network, the control message and data transmission were separated for fast location registration. In the local area, by applying the PMIPv6 technology, the network-based mobility was possible. Moreover, when the existing handover scheme compared with the proposed handover scheme, we can see definitely that the handover latency time of the proposed handover scheme has better performance than that of the existing handover scheme.

Cognitive Radios are encouraging solutions to improve the utilization of the radio spectrum In this paper, we propose channel allocation model for cognitive radio and analyse the performance of the model with Petri Nets. We design the model with an assumption that only partial information about current channel allocation information is known to CR users. The model is designed to communicate efficiently avoiding interference with primary and CR users and contains channel reobtaining process of CR users. The dropping rate and throughput of CR users under the various channel utilization of primary users are given as performance index.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 7, 2009, Pages 102~109
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.102
In this paper, we present an algorithm which generates the impossible drawings after the manner of M.C. Escher. A class of the impossible drawings, focused on this paper, depicts the non-realistic configuration such that an ascent (or a descent) looks like keeping on permanently with a height-deceptive loop. We analyze the fact that the ascending direction in the non-realistic illustrations comes not from the physical heights of the objects but from the artist's intended forwarding direction about the loop, which does not have any physical sense of depths. The basic idea to support such impossible drawings is to use a loop of layered depth images (LDIs), where several LDIs are arranged along with the forwarding direction of the loop while having the physically constant heights. The height-deception between two adjacent objects comes from the layer values in the LDIs. In this paper, we propose a NPR system which can manipulate a shape of the loop and layer values of the LDIs and demonstrate several impossible drawings results generated by using our system.

Inspection of an Electrical Meter is an action of measuring power usage to charge electricity rates and Electricity AMR(Automatic Meter Reading) is a system to automatize the action. AMR has been highlighted because it can reduce metering cost by substituting an automatic system for personnel and strengthen customer service. In this paper, we proposed and developed a smart card based AMR framework SCEMS as an alternative to other current AMR Models. This proposed SCEMS uses a java card based multi-application smart card and supports customer service such as various meter rates according to electricity consumption pattern data per household and transaction data that are accumulated in a smart card. This research can be a solution to the problems such as diversity, heterogeneity, and complexity that environmental changes will cause soon to the power supply industry.

The Journal of the Korea Contents Association, volume 9, issue 7, 2009, Pages 141~148
DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.141
Recently there have been many research efforts focused on imbalanced data classification problems, since they are pervasive but hard to be solved. Approaches to the imbalanced data problems can be categorized into data level approach using re-sampling, algorithmic level one using cost functions, and ensembles of basic classifiers for performance improvement. As an algorithmic level approach, this paper proposes to use multilayer perceptrons with higher-order error functions. The error functions intensify the training of minority class patterns and weaken the training of majority class patterns. Mammography and thyroid data-sets are used to verify the superiority of the proposed method over the other methods such as mean-squared error, two-phase, and threshold moving methods.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.159
It is very important to extract the expression data and capture a face image from a video for online-based 3D face animation. In recently, there are many researches on vision-based approach that captures the expression of an actor in a video and applies them to 3D face model. In this paper, we propose an automatic data extraction system, which extracts and traces a face and expression data from realtime video inputs. The procedures of our system consist of three steps: face detection, face feature extraction, and face tracing. In face detection, we detect skin pixels using YCbCr skin color model and verifies the face area using Haar-based classifier. We use the brightness and color information for extracting the eyes and lips data related facial expression. We extract 10 feature points from eyes and lips area considering FAP defined in MPEG-4. Then, we trace the displacement of the extracted features from continuous frames using color probabilistic distribution model. The experiments showed that our system could trace the expression data to about 8fps.

The spiritual world of the ancient times has precious values which forms the origin of human thought. This study aims to reevaluate ancient people's particular views on man in their spiritual world reflected through gods' ornaments by studying the human race's fundamental spiritual world gradually disappearing due to science development from Egyptian gods' ornaments expressed symbolically in Ancient mythical components. Although evidently ornaments in Egypt served for decoration, the basic purpose was exorcism as amulets, a shamanistic purpose to be protected from mystical and hostile powers by carrying them on the vulnerable spots of the body. As this aspect indicates, the human race tried to solve their self-insoluble transcendental issues through the help of supernatural power, pursuing to lead their lives there within. As a result, Egyptian ornaments; First, the deity raised their value by deifying human-beings. Second, the nobility enhanced their dignity by having goddesses wear the same skirts as theirs. Thirds, all deities maintained their class society by wearing fpassiums, bracelets, and anklets. Fourth, the resurrection was symbolized through gods and goddesses in charge of the afterlife.

DOI : 10.5392/JKCA.2009.9.7.193
The use of tagging to describes web documents in the form of keyword has experienced rising popularity among various web services. Tagging also plays an important role in collaborative bookmarking services which can be regarded as an online favorite bookmark service. Tags which are created by users make it easier to search other users' bookmarks as well as user's own bookmarks. In this paper we analyze usage patterns of collaborative tagging for exploring factors influencing the number of tags in web documents and users. We discovered that user's characteristics have more effect on the tags than the web documents' characteristics. Moreover, leading users contribute to make a variety of tag than following users. Our study implies that more knowledge can be created through the incentives for leading user in order to improve the service quality of tagging service.

This paper used such factors including Number of solutions of civil petitions, Local Tax Collection, and Financial Independent rate as output, Total Labor Costs, Government Employees, Population and Expenditure as inputs. This study concludes that the efficiency of the different District can fluctuate over time to different extents and efficiency of most District decreases from 2003. Indeed, the empirical results reveal that substantial inefficiency exists in some Districts at some point in time. In consequence, this validates the necessity for using DEA windows analysis in preference to an analysis based upon cross-sectional data. This paper shows that Districts' efficiency decreases as Window goes to 1 to 3.
