Research on the Actual Condition with Regard to the Separation of Dental Technicians
Min, Byoung-Kuk ;
Journal of Korean Acedemy of Dental Technology, volume 12, issue 1, 1990, Pages 15~21
This research was to investigate and study on 92 Dental Technicians who had had some experience of working or being employed at dental craft-shops or craft-rooms in Seoul area and had transferred to other types of occupation, with regard to their reasons for changing their profession. For an approach to the study, some questionnaires and interview including 3 aspects of in quiriesmental, economic and social backgrounds-were administered, and major findings are as follows ; 1. The ages in which transferring to other kinds of job happened occurred mostly from 20 to 30(78.26%) an a group of subjects whose ages ranged from 20 to 30 years old. And, with regard to their experience of working or being employed at dental craft-shops or craftrooms, the transfer of their profession to the other kinds mosty happened in a group of subjects(94.56%) whose experience of working in the dental field is less than 4 years. 2. The reason of transfer with reference to the mental background was mostly mattered in a group that expressed "Excessive Work Duties"(34.78%), and most lowly mattered in a group of subjets who had "Certain Relations with Dentists"(8.70%). Thus, it appeared that the biggest reason of transfer by the mental background was, due to the excessive duty work, not to have Sufficient time to be usualized by dental technicians for their own purpose. 3. With reference to the economical background, a group that declared there was "No Wage Standards in Ratio to Their Labor" was the most in the separation rate as shown 45.56%. And, a group suspecting "No Guarantee for Their Living after Retirement" Showed a separation rate, 9.78%. In other words, the reason for transfer was that they did not receive due wage according to their amount of labor. 4. With reference to the social background, a group making a subject for no good working environments or conditions had a separation rate, 41.30%, which was the most among others, and a group with a subject of "The Rarity of Employment because of Excessive Supply of Dental Technicians" had the rate, 10.87%, which was the lowest. This meant that the major cause of transfer by the social background was a phenomenon for dental technicans to escape from unclean working places.

A sense of satisfaction toward the system of life long education appeared as unsatisfaction and its unsatisfaction decreased from the rate of member's attendance or exam. marks, the contents of education, and place of education. 2. The problem of the exam. mark which derived by the presence by the substitute appeared which 46.7 percent(56 persons), lack of opportunity for the recompletion at branch association appeared which 19.2%(23 persons), given 4. exam. marks at the over all scientific contest was appeared 14.2 percent(17 persons), relation which legal treatment when ones didn't completed exam. mark was appeared 10.8 percent(13 persons) and lastly, appeared 8.3 percent (10 persons) with time of delivery of the exam mark card. 3. The frequency of the opening for the life long education which related with the rate of members attendance was fixed as nowadays two times per annually, but they perferred the opening per academic blanch once out of the firest half year and the latter half of the year and, they liked the openings at the first week or second week and preferred the holding on saturdays and sundays. 4. The subject of the life long education have appeared the opinion that the thesis was lop-sided toward the allocation of time schedule of lecture appeared the opinion of which they perferred the rate of an hour of cultural subject and two hours of major studies, and invitation for an instructor they preferred one dentist, one member, one dean for the cultural subject, and there are lots of opinions which they wished display of materials. 5. A sence of satisfaction about the place they perferred was decreased such as ; an auditorium concerned of the colleges was 46.7 Percent(56 Persons), hotels 26.7 Percent(32 Persons), an auditorium of the general hospital 20 percent(24 persons) 6. And lastly, there are lots of opinions who have required the necessities to constitute for the academic branch.
A Study on the Various Anatomical Landmarks Associated with Determining the Dental Midline
Kim, Uoong-Chul ;
Journal of Korean Acedemy of Dental Technology, volume 12, issue 1, 1990, Pages 95~102
The distances from the center line between maxillary right and left central incisors(the dental midline) to the various anatomical landmarks were measured. Fifty five students(thirth four males and twenty one females) who have at least natural teeth including maxillary and mandibular incisors and bicuspids were examined. 1. There was statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the center line of maxillary labial frenum(p<0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the point of incisive papilla, philtrum line, the center line between two mandibular central incisors, and the median palatine suture line(p>0.05). 3. There was no statistically significant sexual difference among data. 4. The philtrum line showed the highest value of correspondence to the center line between two maxillary central incisors followed by the center point of incisive papilla, the center line of two mandibular central incisors, median plaltine suture line and the center line of maxillary labial frenum at the decreasing rate.

Effect of Surface Treatment on Transverse Strength of Denture Repair When Heat Cured Resin Denture Base is Repaired
Jung, Jong-Hyun ;
Journal of Korean Acedemy of Dental Technology, volume 12, issue 1, 1990, Pages 113~119
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of surface tretment on strength of denture repair as influenced by repair resin. Specimens were fabricated from VERTEX heat cured resin. Rectangular specimens(
) were prepared according to the manufacturer's instruction for mixing and packing the resin into molds. Two methods of surface treatment were used and two methods of repair were also tested. The transverse strength of the resin was measured before repair and after repair by AUTOGRAPH testing machine. Six specimens of each category were prepared for testing for a total of 24 specimens. The mean value of the percent of recovery was calculated from the percent of recovery for six specimens. The results were as follows : 1. The mean value of the percent of recovery of each category makes a significant difference statistically one another(p<0.01), and "C" category, chloroform solvent-heat cured resin, has a better effect on repair srength than any other. 2. When no chloroform is used to treat the fractured surface there is no significant difference between the mean values of the percent of recovery influenced by the self curing resin and heat cured resin. But, when chloroform is used there is a significant difference between the two repair resins(p<0.01). 3. When self curing resin repair is used there is no significant difference between repair with and without the surface treatment of chloroform. But, when heat cured resin repair is used the use of chloroform treatment become significant statistically (p<0.01).
